Most reliable hue light so far

I have more than a dozen hue compatible and hue branded light switches, this one appears to be the most reliable so far. Requiring only 1 gentle tap to turn on the lights. Sometimes other switches require a hefty press and multiple presses to get the lights to turn on. This one is also the most intuitive for guests that have never seen smart lights before. Only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5, it is only available in white, some options for ivory or light almond would be preferable.

I put these all over my home. A definite need if you plan on using the Philips Hue. Expensive, but long lasting and reliable. It is easy to set up, but may take a couple of try's if you have multiple units.

Ever since I first got smart lights I hated how while they made my experience with lights better in many ways, they made it also more complicated. Guests would turn of the switch and I would get tired of yelling at the voice assistant to turn the lights on/off every time. We live in an apartment so unfortunately smart switches are not an option, leaving us with smart bulbs. Although there is a slight delay, these. are excellent reliable alternatives to smart switches when those are not an option. Smart switches would still be superior if you can do that though. (No battery, No delay, you can use any bulbs, etc.)

Works seamlessly and never loses connection. My older house (1920) has a lot of wall sconces where the switch is on the light itself. With a Hue bulb and this switch I am able to control them with a modern wall switch and via HomeKit. I resurrected and unified 4 wall sconces on 2 circuits in my living room on one switch and combined the two switches each controlling separate lights in my dining room chandelier.
I can’t stress the reliability enough. The home app always works as long as my router is up (don’t need internet).

Smart Tech for those who don't

This device is so simple to setup and use. One of the easiest smart accessories you can buy - although its purpose isn't really all that smart. I have these placed in the house for two reasons 1.) To prevent the bulbs I have on the switch from being turned off and 2.) To allow guests/non-tech family members control the lights. Honestly, I never use the switch -- the whole point of smart lights is to use routines, assistants, your phone, etc... but this switch is a good bridge between the 'smart' and the 'dumb'. That being said, it does have a slight delay, but nothing intolerable. Overall great companion to the HUE lights and easy to setup.

The light switch in our hall was connected to the hall light and a light inside our guest bedroom. I replaced the hall light and guest bedroom lights with Hue lights and these attractive switches and fixed the problem. Now, the hall light only comes on with the hall switch and the guest entrance light comes on with the rest of the lights in that room. I’ve purchased four of these switches for use throughout our home. They work and look great...and I will be purchasing more.

This thing does what it advertises while bringing a nice touch of beauty. I have had many Philips hue dimmer switches sitting next to the actual flipping light switch and they worked well, however, it became annoying when a family member would flip the switch instead of pressing the off button on the hue dimmer switch.
This fixes that issue and it dims much more efficiently. I got rid of most of the Philips Hue dimmer switches and replaced them with these. I love how easy they are to install. Just put place them over the flipper switch and tighten the screw. No more issues with people flipping the switch and negating the smart features of your lights!

Have purchased 4 of these switches and they work great! Very easy to install and setup. Have a situation where I had two ceiling lights both controlled by 2 wall (3-way) switches. I wanted instead to have each ceiling light controlled only by one switch. So installed 2 Hue smart bulbs, assigned each to its “own room” then installed two of these switches each now controlling only one ceiling light - works like a charm! Plus with these switches each light can separately now be dimmed.
Liked these so much bought 2 more to control other rooms.

This is probably the most unspoken need your hue lights need. So many times whether it’s guests or my own wife gets confused on how to turn on the light. And there are times when you just don’t want to use your voice to turn on the light (sleeping baby, early mornings, etc) and not everyone wants to install the app or have their phone handy. This places over the original switch, where most people intuitive go to anyways. And the additional benefits of dimmer is very easy to use. The only thing is the price. I bought it when there was a discount. I don’t know if I can agree to the value on full price.

This product makes smart light bulbs WORK. With smart bulbs, it is too easy for the unaware person in your house to turn off the power to the smart bulb via a traditional lightswitch, which negates all of its smart features. This smart switch covers the traditional lightswitch and prevents it from being turned off, and then serves as a traditional dimmer lightswitch in its place. It is easy to setup and use with my Phillips Hue system. I wish it were a little cheaper. But I hightly recommend this product nevertheless!

Huge fan of the Lutron Aurora dimmers. I have 8 in my home already and ordered 2 more. They work as well as advertised and the battery life is INSANE on these things. Well made. They're a bit pricey and never seem to go on sale, but they're still worth it.

Expensive but works like a charm with Hue bulbs! My biggest frustration with Hue (and all smart light bulbs for the matter) is you have to leave the switch turned on in order to have them function. Not a big deal with only my family in the house but as soon as guests come over it’s CHAOS! This solved the issue. I bought three so far.

Not a lot to say - takes just a few minutes to set up, working well enough that I've bought another and am considering getting a third! For someone like me who grew up in a house with circular dimmer switches, it's nice and intuitive. Compared to the Hue switches, I like that it can't easily fall off, and it covers the regular switch so lights don't get turned off with them.

Perfect for Retrofits

If you use Hue bulbs in any fixture or outlet controlled by a switch, this is a no-brainer accessory.
It’s perfect for making the hue lights feel less “smart home” and more just “home”.
They eliminate the issues of turn switches off and disconnecting lights by accident, and allow control of the lighting for when you don’t have your devices handy or feel like yelling to whatever digital assistant you prefer.
The only draw back here is price, these are STEEP for what they are, and that can add up quick if retrofitting a lot of switches. Though when the alternative is something like Lutron’s cassata, these look like a bargain for controlling Hue lights in hard wired fixtures.

A simple yet very useful Phillips Hue accessory

Made by Lutron specific for a wall light switch that controls Philips Hue lights. Simple, efficient, two minute install that keeps the light switch up (in the power on mode) so you can use your other accessories and apps to control - power on/off, dimming, colors, schemes, etc etc. Before if the wall switch was turned in the off position, perhaps inadvertently, this would cut the circuit to the lights thus making any app or other smart controls useless until the wall switch was flipped back on. Late arriving, a bit expenIve, but quite on the mark. The device itsef has push on/off feature and can be dialed for dimming. Purchased two already and will get another.

These things are magic. I have lots of Hue lights and have used the Philips Hue regular dimmer switchers. The Aurora is so much sexier and it covers the normal light switch so guests don't accidentally flip the switch and mess up your smart light function.

The perfect dimmer

Almost a perfect product. The dimmer mounts easily, just make sure to get it tight enough on the light switch or else it slips off later. Dismounting is simple enough with a flat head screwdriver. A very slight delay, but nothing that bothers me. It’s all white plastic, so that may factor in for others. But it matches the white light switches I have.

This little device was very easy to setup, easy to install, and easy to use. It's features (dimming and on/off) work well. I love that this installs over top of a normal on/off switch. The only dings I would give it would be: (1) price is high, (2) you have to really crank down on the screw to hold it in place on the physical wall switch, and (3) it's a lightweight plastic that I think should stand the test of time BUT feels ... like lightweight plastic. I wonder if they could use different, more substantial materials that felt "heavy duty", or "industrial strength". Overall I would recommend this switch and plan on picking up more myself.

These are so incredibly easy to install and work flawlessly with Phillips smart bulbs. The best part is they cover up light switches which could be turned off, thus preventing the smart bulbs from being used. I would definitely recommend these to anyone!

I never saw the point of “smart” lights or plugs. A couple of years ago, we moved into a house. Whoever built it in the 70’s wired all the overhead lights in the room to the wall sockets in the same room. I’m guessing they liked lamps, so whenever you walked into a room and flipped on the wall switch, the lamps would come on, too. Groovy. Trouble is - if the light switch is off, so are the wall plugs. No clock radio, no TV, no fan - unless the light switch is on.
I happened upon a review that pointed out this solves that problem. The light switch is always on, so the plugs are always on, too.
Now, with smart bulbs, the overhead lights work like any dimmer switch you’ve ever used. You don’t need an app or instructions - any visitors or guests know exactly how it works. And the wall plugs are always hot.
Way less expensive than rewiring. And being able to control the lights with my phone is growing on me. Pretty soon I’ll be geofencing.
Old dog, meet new trick.
