Im a wedding videographer and I did so much research on manfrotto tripods, I own three different kinds and don’t like any of them a whole lot. I was in a pinch where one broke and this was the only one they had at my Best Buy so I just bought it and it’s definitely my favorite one! The panning is very smooth, set up is easy and overall a fair price for the quality! I highly recommend if you’re looking for an affordable but decent tripod!

Great tripod for many situations. Solid and can handle reasonably big cameras although I might put some anchoring weight on it if I had a big heavy lens on the camera.

This thing is a lil heavy but, wow, it works good. The legs and thier locks work like a dream, one handed and the head makes great buttery smooth video. Have a try at it. I highly recomend it.

The Manfrotto 290 Tripod is a nice tripod. I like the fluid head for panning when shooting videos. The legs can be adjusted and locked easily. The tripod has a quick release plate to remove and mount the camera as needed. I did not like the minimum height as it was too long to carry in a 15.6 inch travel backpack. It is also was heavy for me at almost 4 lbs. and did include a travel bag.

Bought this when I was out of town on a job and discovered I was one tripod short! Intended to return it the following week but it turned out to be such a great little tripod for events I decided to add it to my collection. It will be going with me from now on. Fluid head works very well for that price range and I like the way the locks work on the legs.

Pretty smooth since it is a Manfrotto but since it’s the one of the cheaper ones, it does have some minor flaws. Like not being 100% smooth when you pan.

I ise this tripod for my spotting vortex spotting scope. Way better then my 209. Fuild head makes a big difference. I wish the knobs didnt feel cheap. The head unit is awesome. I feel confident with my 70D going on it and walking around with my spotting scope on it.
I would recommend for entry level film maker. I would take this backpacking back country.
