Music, movies, surround, 4k picture upscaling, streaming.... need I go on? This unit seems to have no limits, especially paired with the MM7055 AMP and those B&W 702 Series 2 mains, HTM71 center channel, 705 s2 surrounds, and 2, yes 2 of the DB4S Subwoofers! Crystal clear sound, and very well balanced/quiet with my Audioquest cables and Panamax power conditioner. All I need is the IMAX, and I could have my own theater of sorts. LOL. If they had such a thing, I am sure BB would have it. Ain't America still great! I consider myself fortunate to have the support and knowledge base at the Va Beach Va store (independence location). I can't thank Josh, Joe, Nate, and Mike in management enough for providing the help, knowledge and support I needed to make all of this happen. These folks treat me very well. Keep up the great work guys! I have enclosed several pics attached to this review. The Salamander "breathable" stereo cabinet houses all of the components. Those Rotel CD players are no joke either. A dream of a signal routing and decoding machine. My first foray into separates. The difference is incredible. The av7705 is taking my half dozen sources (all HDMI or analog audio) and supporting a main zone with 5.1.4 atmos configuration, a second zone with HDMI output (patio w/4 speakers in stereo) and a third zone in the kitchen (only audio out). I've found the unit to be quite versatile. It drives some pretty great movie sound to an mm7055 over the XLR connectors, coming from the studio world I was pleased to find a unit with this connectivity (NOTE: XLR pin-outs are euro mapped (pin 2 is reversed, so fair warning when looking for amps). The second zone functionality works great, just as anticipated. There is one caveat with the zone three output: your zone three output cannot be from digital audio sources unless you are sending the same audio to all zones (and it will be in stereo). You can get more output routing options in the av8802 but that's in a nother (price) league. Also no mix and match HDMI zone output options, if you want the same source on multiple HDMI outs and the monitors don't support the same output (one 4k, one HD) you'll be out of luck on the lower res monitor unless you have a downscaler (not included). If your source is the lowest common denominator (HD in this case) you can output to all zones without a middle piece. Currently programming and setting up my Harmony Elite with this pre-tuner, so far so good. Output in the main zones goes to an LG C9 65. Read the manual on this bad boy before you purchase, I do on all my buys, but from my experience, I wouldn't hesitate to go this route again.

Caution. Don’t buy this if you want big booming sound that will shack the walls. This has amazing elegant sound. Just ama i got very balanced and realistic for movie watching. You will hear subtle sound you have never heard in movies you’ve watched before. I love it.

Best receiver I have ever owned. Upgraded from a pioneer AVR, might and day. You do need separate amps.

So far the sound quality with the right amplifier is crystal clear in every way. Picture quality of the 4K processing is amazing as well. If you’re considering going the separates route, I highly recommend!

Good luck streaming your ripped CDs on your home network via the HEOS app. After months of reading AV forum pages and contacting various customer service desks for assistance (Best Buy Geek Squad, Marantz, etc...), I haven't managed to make it happen. Also, the Marantz 2016 AVR Remote app for Android phones is unstable (read forum page reviews about the app). Marantz receivers and processors are GREAT for audio and video! I've own both. However, Marantz remains behind the curve on smart technologies integration.

    WOW!

This is an awesome Preamp that will stand against the best of them that are twice the price. Hooked this up to my Sunfire Cinema Grand 5 channel amp to power my B&W 702s2 and all I can say is wow! I am currently hooked up via unbalanced interconnects, can't begin to imagine how well it's going to sound when I get my Audioquest Balanced cables... So from someone who has used separates for 25 years and coming from the Rotel RSP-1068 preamp that I thought was excellent, this unit blew me away. Don't hesitate to buy and thank you Marantz and Best Buy for carrying this high end unit. Best Buy has the best customer service also! Oh and no I do not work for Best Buy..

    Solid Receiver

Tried the entry level version of this unit, that thing has nothing on this guy, it drives my setup perfectly with no issue. There is definitely a difference of sound quality, but someone spending this much on receiver knows that the internals are massively upgraded and have done research on a lot of receivers.
