The mClassic is a must have for any retro gamer

There are a few switch games I really like but have a hard time playing on my computer monitor because of the low resolution. The pixels stick out badly and some things are messy are hard to look at. The mClassic makes everything much better! By using the mClassic on my switch, everything looks much smoother and even scales up from 1080p to 1440p! This has been a game changer and makes playing the switch on my computer monitor much more fun. Not to mention the results are even more dramatic for old games. I mostly use it for ps1, ps2, ps3, and psp using the TV adapter. The ps3 gets more crisp and goes up to hdmi. The psp was hardly even playable before and now it looks great! Thank you Marseille for developing such an awesome product.

    An Honest Luxury

First off: the product does exactly what it says it does and is super easy to use Second: I've only used it on my Switch so far, but will update when my GameCube adapter comes in and I can use it there too. I was pretty impressed with this. While many Nintendo 1st party titles already come out at 1080p, the occasional that doesn't, and other 3rd party games really benefit from the jump from ≤720p. Split screen multiplayer games massively benefit from the sharper image too. The pictures show the difference for a few titles (first with mClassic off, second with it on; the images are zoomed in so you get a better sense of what they would look like on a TV screen). I would give this a 4.5 star if the option was there, but I rounded up because I can't really call it out for any flaws. This isn't an essential purchase, and it's one that you can sometimes forget you're using after a while until you see what it looks like on switches/footage where it isn't present (though I don't think this will be the case once I try this on the GameCube). That all said, I have no regrets buying this to give my Switch the premium treatment.

Amazing Upscaler for Your Console Games

    Posted .

I first grabbed this device when it was on kickstarter and I wasn't disappointed. When I first used it, I was impressed by how well the mclassic actually cleaned up and even made my games more vibrant. This is especially apparent in Monster Hunter and Super Smash Bros. It's quite an amazing little processor and I don't get any type of latency at all using it. It's made my screenshots and recordings a lot better looking and cleaner. I highly recommend it. DISCLAIMER: This device only increases resolution and smooths out anti-aliasing. It does NOT improve framerates or performance. It is an image quality upscaler only. Use it on your Switch, use it on your Xbox Series S, use it on your retro consoles, they'll all look great!

Does what its advertised. I was highly skeptical about this device but was tempted when zelda tears of the kingdom came out. Playing the switch on a 4k tv looks like garbage due to the resolution being 1080p or less while docked. Plugged this bad boy in and saw an immediate change in quality. It makes things more digestable when viewing. We even used it with our xbox series S and it looked great. A little pricey but well worth it.

I did use this for a little bit, and this does help the clean up graphics of some older games, and can push modern games a little bit further. However I found something a bit more versatile as I was using this for older games. I returned it, but if your looking something to help upscale your games to 1080p and up, I would recommend this.

This HDMI mclassic processor improves the picture quality of my non 4K console even retro consoles that are retrofitted with HDMI. Picture quality is cleaner, it reduces lag. I use it on my Nintendo 64 with super64 HDMI adapter and Dreamcast with pound HDMI adapter, my Nintendo switch and the colors pop out more, picture quality is clearer. It upscales from 480p up to 1080p and 1440p. I used it on my PSP with Hyperkin hdmi adapter and I had to buy a HDMI to HDMI female adapter to get it to work. It feels close to the PS2 game. If you have a PS4, Xbox one s or newer, PS5 or Xbox series X or Xbox series S I don’t recommend using mClassic on it because it will not process 4k or High Dynamic Range.

I knew I had to back this when I first discovered its crowdfunding campaign! I still regularly play games from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era, and the mClassic does wonders to enhance that generation. But it’s also great for Switch games. I took pictures from my TV screen, first with the mClassic turned off, then after turning it on. Note the jaggy smoothing on my character’s hair and chin! The only criticism I have is with the included HDMI extension cable. After a while it kinda gave out, so now my mClassic is just connected directly to my stereo receiver.

Greatly enhanced the image quality, brightness & contrast and resolution of older and newer games. I like to use it with Switch games like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Smash Ultimate and Shin Megami Tensei V.

I had been waiting for years for this. I once owned a $700 chinese upscaler which burnt out in a matter of months. This is $100 bucks, lightyears more capable, versatile, portable, compatible, and makes EVERYTHING look better especially 480p and 720p signals. 1080p also improves how you might imagine MSAA might look on your console. If you're one that says it does nothing for 1080p then maybe it's time for a new TV or... glasses? lol Excellent. ★★★★★

This works incredible you just have to make sure you down scale your system to 480p or 720p accordingly so we can boost it higher I use it on the Xbox 360 the PS4 the Nintendo switch especially and the Wii U and everything looks crisp and incredible sometimes it's subtle sometimes it's night and day but one thing is for sure it works perfectly and for the price you can't go wrong there's no other alternative that this easy and this compact

This thing AWESOME, I bought it just before playing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and it was worth it, the added anti aliasing and smoothed out edges gives your switch games a well deserved boost in visuals, so if you want more out of your switch games and your looking for an extra kick in graphics, this is a must buy, specially if you have a large OLED tv.

The mClassic works phenomenally. It does what is advertised and is only made better with the use of a 1 440p monitor, but is not required. If you're a fan of the mCable, or even just classic systems, you will be a fan of this.

I’m playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on some crappy hotel 1080p tv and even then the results are obvious. Sharp, jagged edges have been smoothed and evened out making it a more pleasant experience. Using the device made everything a shade darker but didn’t affect it enough to notice during game play. I dont know if it changes the FPS at all. I look forward to using this on my Xbox Series S.

A good device for anti aliasing your video games!

Don't mind the dust covers for the cable and the MClassic itself, but... I backed this on Indiegogo when it was still around, and received it when it got shipped and delivered to me. I will say it works well for anti-aliasing games on modern and retro consoles (unless you're using a converter meant for AV or RGB), and you can basically connect this to any USB power source too instead of a TV with a USB port. Just make sure you have the right cable if you're looking forward to extending this.

Works well as long as you aren't pairing it with a Samsung TV. Great for upscaling retro games but not a huge difference if you are buying it just for a Switch.

mClassic full test/review I purchased this item to enhance 3D viewing as my 4K TV, Blu-ray player, and 4K Blu-ray player all support 3D playback. The unfortunate drawback is that when connected to the 4K Blu-ray player HDCP will not allow content to go directly to the TV thus you have to add a HDMI switch box to connect your devices to then connecting the mClassic to the output then to the TV. After my initial tests I have decided at this time not to utilize this method. Following are the equipment and the content used. Equipment: Samsung TV - UN55JS8500 smart 4K/3D. This TV use's the one connect mini along with active shutter 3D glasses. Samsung 4K/3D Blu-ray player - UBD-KM85C. Sony 1080p 3D Blu-ray player - BDPS570. Content: Mortal Engines 4K/Blu-ray combo. Mortal Engines 3D Blu-ray (UK import). I used this title as the picture is reference quality (4K disc). Justice League Snyder cut DVD. Used this for a current DVD release. T2:Judgment Day ultimate edition. This is a vintage DVD release Thx certified picture/sound, Dolby digital. Results: Mortal Engines: Used both Blu-ray players for comparison. Unable to use the mClassic on the Samsung but it is compatible with the Sony Blu-ray. 4K disc is clean with HDR. Picture is outstanding. The Blu-ray played in the Sony was upscaled to 4k using the mClassic with the only noticeable difference being no HDR on the Sony. Details were just as clean as the 4K disc. As for 3D, both players were equal but only 1920x1080/24 fps resolution. Justice League Snyder cut DVD: Slight bump in brightness but no overall enhancement in picture quality. (Upscaled to 4K). T2:Judgment Day ultimate edition DVD: Slight bump in brightness but no overall enhancement in picture quality. It did over brighten the white lettering on the opening credits. (Upscaled to 4K). Final thoughts: If you have a 4K TV but still have and old (or new) Blu-ray player, the mClassic will upscale a 1080p disc and a DVD to 4K however for it's price point you're better off purchasing a 4K Blu-ray player unless you have an expensive Blu-ray player you've purchased in the past (i.e. a $600 Oppo) and you're on a budget. Since the only Blu-ray player compatibility is the Sony, that's where it will stay for the present time. I've purchased all of my equipment from pawn shops so my investment isn't over the top as I'm on a budget just like anyone else. If you find the mClassic on sale (as I did) or you have the need then by all means grab one. It just sucks that you have to use a HDMI switcher to utilize the mClassic on 4K Blu-ray players and game consoles that support 4K native playback due to HDCP. ***Update #1*** After posting my review I decided to watch some DVD content on the Sony Blu-ray player. I put in Ratchet and Clank and as usual trailers started playing. Kubo and the Two Strings came on which I am familiar with (3D) and my jaw dropped. I know Quantum you'll ding me for not pressing the info button on my TV'S service remote but the mClassic upscaled the DVD to 4K and it looked awesome. Next I put in Snake Eyes: G.I.Joe Origins DVD and it too was upscaled to 4K and looked awesome. Now I don't know what WB's deal is with Snyder's JL cut but the DVD looked better played in the Samsung 4K player vs the Sony Blu-ray with the mClassic. There is even a difference between the 4K UK import vs the US 4K release and I have to give the import stars vs the domestic. Obviously the source content is going to be key in how the device performs. I will be posting another update as I am going to pick different content to view both Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray along with some DVD content. ***Update #2*** Watched 2 pieces of content. A dvd-r copy of one of my movies which is a complete copy of the original disc and Dunkirk 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD. Dunkirk was a no brainer with the Sony/mClassic combo upscaled the Blu-ray and DVD to 4k. I did notice the DVD was a bit softer vs the Blu-ray. This must be a "WB" thing as both DVD's (Snyder JL) showed softness. As for the dvd-r it did upscale however the codec's used when making the disc did introduce some judder but nothing that would make it unwatchable. I also found my old HDMI switch box and gave it a try with the 4K Blu-ray player and no go. It's an old box and would need newer one to use the mClassic with all my devices. For now it will remain connected to the Sony Blu-ray.
