When it comes to modern wireless headphones, there are several features that are requirements for me to enjoy using them: * They need to be able to travel well * They need to have the ability to use an analog aux cable * They need to be comfortable to wear * They need to isolate noise or be noise cancelling Most important of all - they have to make whatever I’m listening to sound fantastic. The new Monitor headphones by Marshall fit all of these to near perfection. They are designed to be foldable and they compact down very nicely. They even come with a soft carrying case. I would’ve liked a more firm case to protect them while I travel, but it’s not a deal-breaker. They fold up very nicely and fit into my carry-on bag when I fly without issue. These headphones also not only have the ability to be used as a wired headset with an Aux cable, but they come with an Aux cable that has the signature look of Marshall music equipment. One end is a typical straight aux connector and the other end is a 90-degree right angle connector - so your mileage may vary depending on what you’re connecting. When I used them with my iPhone XS and lightning adapter, the cable sat off to the side. Additionally, they come with a USB-A to Micro-USB charging cable, but no power puck. So you’ll need to plug it into an available USB-A port to recharge them. A puck would’ve been nice, but I guess everyone figures you have open USB-A ports or extra charging pucks hanging around. One thing that caught me by surprise was how tight and snug these headphones felt when I put them on for the first time. Other reviews have mentioned this as well and honestly, it was a bit surprising at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly. It wasn’t uncomfortable by any means, just a tighter fit than I’ve been used to. Thankfully, the Monitor headphones are designed to be over-ear and not on-ear. I’ve used other name brands that are tight and sit on-ear and after a while, they start to hurt. Thankfully, this didn’t happen here. Also, compared to other headphones that can make you look like you’re directing traffic on an aircraft carrier, the Monitor headphones profile is surprisingly slim. I’ve worn them around the office listing to music and I didn’t feel the slightest bit awkward. The Monitor headphones don’t require an App to function, they paired fine with my iPhone XS and Apple TV. The over-ear design helps isolate exterior noise, but I don’t believe these have any active noise-cancelling feature. It would’ve been nice, but it’s not a deal breaker that they don’t cancel outside noise. That’s because the sounds that comes out is freaking beautiful! Which, if you’re buying headphones, you don’t want to spend money for something to produce anemic, or tinny sound. These come with an equalizer set to produce booming bass, stable mids and variable treble. I put my music on shuffle and from John Lennon to Snoop Dogg to Bruno Mars to Metallica, everything sounded amazing! If you’re in the market for a solid wireless headphone option from a company that knows a thing or two about speakers, then you need to check out the Monitor headphones. They’ve quickly become one of my favorite traveling and daily use sets.

Marshal makes quality professional products, and this quality continues with its consumer products. The Monitor Headphone is robust, built strong and has a cool design. It is lightweight, comfortable to use and the battery life lasts a long time. The earcups are soft and comfortable. The size is perfect, not bulky, and the headband frame is adjustable. It slides very easily, and it fits well on my head. This product excels in sound quality-- there is no distortion at higher volume, and all lows/mids/high frequencies are pretty clear. The brass control knob is a smart concept and simple to use, which is way better than having multiple buttons all over the place. This multi-button organizes all basic functions: power on/off, Bluetooth, volume, pause/play music, next/previous song, answer/end and reject calls. The brass button only works when using the headphone wirelessly/Bluetooth. When using the wired cord, the brass control button will not control the plugged device, but the cord button has a button which only has a few functions. The box comes with an optional 3.5mm AUX wired cord. On end, that connects to devices, is right-angle and reinforced with heavy-duty strain relief spring. I have no issue using the wire on any device, specially while I laying down. The cord is 50 inches long, and it can stretch about 15 inches more. The cord has a mic and a multifunction button (only for answering calls, hang up, play/pause song, fast forward). By accident, I found out that if continuously pressing the buttons, it activates the phones assistant. If using the headphones wirelessly, the right earpiece has a built-in microphone. The Bluetooth on the headphones works very well, and it enables me to listen to music and voice conversation without intermittent stuttering. I live in a 2-floor house with about 2800 square foot area and using the wireless option allows me the freedom to move around the entire house. I have not heard a sound communication complaint from callers when I answer my call with the headphone. When used wirelessly, the 3.5 mm socket on the earpiece can be used to plug another headphone and share the sound with a friend. This option is excellent for my son during road trips when he wants to share the audio with his sibling or friend. The earcups fold inward for easy storage and transportation. The box includes nice looking black carrying bag with a hole to insert the charging cord for a quick charge without taking out/in the headphone. The USB charging cable comes with a reinforced neck at each end, this way it won't bend or break at the point of contact. This headphone surely will withstand extensive use. I am a heavy user of headphones, and they have held pretty well. I find it enjoyable to listen to music with this Marshall Monitor Headphone.

Tl;dr: Very good music quality with decent isolation and consistent wireless connectivity. Easy to use controls, excellent comfort, 30 hours of play time and compact storage round out the complete package. Pros: -Bass is a little heavy, but well balanced overall. Can easily flatten the sound curve with most phone equalizers. -Very comfortable: These over the ear sit well for hours at a time, even with glasses. -Good sound isolation: I’ve worn them for hours in my open office environment and can completely tune out the various conversations going on around me, even at low volumes. -Easy to pair. The headphones quickly connect to the last source when powered on. Holding the button for 5 seconds puts them in pairing mode for your next device. -Good Bluetooth range. I was able to walk all around my house with no dropouts. Music quality was consistent throughout. -Microphone: Callers could hear me loud and clear with minimal background sounds. Solid construction: Metal joints and coiled wires connecting the ear pieces to the handband make these look like they’ll last.. -Versitile: If the battery runs out, they can be plugged into a standard headphone jack for continuous music. Cons: -They’ve heavier than earbuds, but deliver larger sound. -3 hours for a full charge. 1 hour gives you 10 in listening time. -Closed ear covers may cause your ears to sweat more. Value: Marshall is a very well known name in professional music circles. They newer to the headphone arena, but they’ve brought their premium pricing with them in this entry. At list price, they’re competing with very good noise cancelling headphones., which can be a challenge. Personally, I liked the sound a little better than Bose and my ears didn’t hurt after a couple of hours as they often due when Active Noise Cancelling is on for my other headphones. They’re an excellent value if you can get them on sale or price match. Conclusion: Marshall is a great brand and these show why the company has the reputation that it does. The monitor bluetooth phones are a great entry to this line and a great addition to Best Buy.

First things first, the sound quality on these headphones is genuinely excellent. I’ve enjoyed a wide variety of media from hip hop, rock, and jazz to podcasts and audiobooks. The sound never disappoints. A few drawbacks, first being comfort, these are sold as over ear headphones but fit very snugly around your ear. I don’t reccomend for long periods of wear (I had mine on a six hour flight). Do not expect any level of noise cancelling from these either. I was slightly disappointed with bass and treble levels initially but after removing the insert the treble improved. Overall a good pair of headphones for the price.

This is my first experience with Marshall headphones so I wasn't sure what to expect. I do know the storied history of Marshall as they are considered by many to produce the finest sounding guitar amps in the business. I can say that in many ways their Monitor wireless headphones follow in that same great tradition. They sound great. Offering a nice balance of highs and lows with solid mid range that really help anchor vocals especially. They do tend to lean out in the lower octaves at max volume, but that can be said of many headphones. Imaging is maybe slightly above average, but I don't think at any point could I truly place objects in the room with my eyes closed. Overall, they really are a fantastic sounding pair of headphones and Marshall did a great job in that department. Here is everything else: The good: - Nice build quality with metal and leather construction. Definitely carries the Marshall style. - Great clamping force and comfortable ear cups. - Solid battery life. At ~50% volume I could easily attain the 30 hour battery life quoted. - Includes a cables and a carrying bag The middle: - These barely quality as over-the-ear in my opinion. They fit my wife, but not me. So if you have bigger ears and are looking for true over-the-ears headphones these may not be it. - Call quality isn't really anything to write home about. My wife complained when I answered a couple calls saying that I sounded like I was in a barrel. At least I could hear her complaining to me clearly. - Exposed wires to the cans are just asking to get snagged on something. The bad: - The joystick control is a real pain. I often find myself really disliking touch controls on headphones and welcome buttons, but this joystick is equaling maddening. It offers on/off, bluetooth pairing, track control (advancing/scrubbing), play/pause, and volume control. The problem is that the 4-way direction isn't as obvious as one might think when wearing the headphones. I often find myself fast forwarding tracks when I am trying to increase volume. Would have really preferred some additional buttons instead. Overall, the Marshall Monitor are an above average sounding wireless headphones. The controls are easily my biggest complaint I have with them. I think their MSRP is a tad high for what is being delivered, but if you find them on sale then definitely give them a serious look.

    Well balanced sound

First thing to note is that I have only had these for 24hrs so I cannot attest to the claim of 30 hours battery or validate any reliability/connecting claims made by others. Second thing to note is that these are NOT noise canceling. There is no ANC microphone nor circuitry processing and canceling the sounds around you. That being said, out of the box, these are very well balanced headphones and deserve 5-stars out of the gate. Given Marshall chooses to use the audio term "monitors" over headphones suggests that they have worked on perfecting low-mid-hi balance over being bass forward like many consumer products in this price range. ***Design*** Simple. Rigid. Unboxing them I was worried the fit would be too tight either in the ears or across the head (as a bald guy, a tight fit leads to rubbing against skin that can get uncomfortable very quickly). Yes, they are snug from ear to ear which is good. Since there is no noise canceling you want the (comfortable) foam pads to wear tight to the ear to reduce ambient sound. At the office, cranked about 55% I cannot hear normal office sounds around me. The cups do not fold backwards (DJ style) but they do collapse into each other for storage. The cross bar over the head is well padded, soft and comfortable. The cans do not look ridiculous when worn. I would have preferred "touchpad" ear controls over the "joystick nub" however without looking at the manual it is easy to figure out how to control music functions (volume up/down, skip, pause, etc.). My problem with the nub is lack of control over the push. Hard to know if I am pushing up vs. left. Some functions require a "press in" which is more than a "nudge." Again, it will just take some getting used to. (Minus a half-star.) ***Pairing*** Should be easy. Was easy...on the 3rd try. They seem to stay paired. No drop outs but I have also stayed within 5 feed to my device. I did a walk-away test which was average. I have had better distance with other headphones but I have no intention of being more than 10' from my paired device. Things stayed very solid under 25' feet with cinder block walls. There is no NFC pairing with these headphones. To pair you must start from OFF, then depress and hold the nub for 5 seconds until you hear the ON sound THEN CONTINUE HOLDING FOR ANOTHER 3-5 SECONDS until you hear the pairing sound. ***App*** I successfully installed the (not required) Marshall EQ app for Android but it is crashing on my phone. Who knows why. Fortunately I have other apps to tweak EQ while streaming via Google Music. ***Music Sound Quality*** (very subjective) This is why you pay more than $20 for headphones: You want quality sound. As mentioned, out of the box these are well balanced and NOT bass forward in my opinion. My test playlist consists of Google Music streamed Metallica, Macklemore, AWOLNATION, Chainsmokers, twenty-one pilots, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix and a few random pop 80s cuts...plus DJ Magic Mike Feel the Bass. At louder volumes (50% or greater--btw, these cans can get very loud) they seem to get brighter across all genres mentioned above. At lower volumes the hi-mid-low is very well balanced and still crisp enough--not muddy by any stretch, but a little less bright. Some of this has to do with the quality of the recording and stream though. An EQ with a loudness or "spatial" feature can brighten up the music at lower volumes. The bass in "Feel the Bass" does not drop as well as some other bass forward headphones out of the box. Fortunately, a little EQ and bass boost brings that depth forward very nicely and clearly without being overbearing. Bass stays tight and reverberates in hip-hop and modern alt-rock tracks like twenty-one pilots and AWOLNATION. Classic rock and grunge rock bass has nice pop. Mids/vocals are tight. Tweak the EQ if you want vocal forward audio. Highs are tight and crisp. No tin sounds or painful screeching...unless the song was designed that way. ***Phone Call Quality*** Not great. Callers immediately asked if I was in a closet or bathroom. I knew exactly what they were talking about because they sounded like they were in a closet or bathroom. Audio was very hollow. Initial call volume was low for both parties. I was asked to speak up and I had to tweak both the volume on the phone AND on the headset which was frustrating given I keep my media/call/ringtone volumes balanced on the phone and had been happy with the music volume prior to making a phone call. Vocals were "clear" (again, not super loud and they had the closet echo to them...but they were clear). The microphone on the cans, however, was picking up a lot of ambient noise. I could hear myself through the cans while talking, rubbing my hands, moving things on my desk, etc. So could the party at the other end. ***In The Box*** - Headphones - Decent quality bag - 3.5mm cable - USB A male to USB micro B mail charging cable - User manual ***OVERALL*** Again, great out-of-the-box balanced sound and volume. Easily tweaked via a 3rd-party EQ (or the Marshall EQ app if it works for you) to bump forward the bass or add brightness at lower volumes. Very comfortable and snug--might be too snug for some folks. Great battery life according to the box. I am not a fan of the "nub" control and was bummed by the quality when used for calls. The MSRP is a bit more in line with competitor's noise canceling cans. If all you expect is good quality sound to customize to your preferred listening style, the Marshall Monitor bluetooth cans a solid, must consider especially if you can score them on sale.

The headphone sounds great with enough bass as opposed to most reviews. The looks are awesome. The features available works great too. The issue with tracks skipping while turning up the volume just needed some getting used to. But If you have bigger ears and head like me, it is going to hurt. I had to return it after few days.

Marshall does and excellent job here with the Monitor headphones. My exposure to Marshall is of course pro-audio amps (which I haven't used in a number of years). Here Marshall is going consumer oriented. While other manufacturers have gone this route, Marshall does stand out in the crowded market of headphones. First of all, they have a distinctive style. They look and feel like a piece of studio equipment. The materials are all very premium and softtouch. Cables going from the headband to earcups are coiled - which lends itself more to the 'guitar amp' look. Metallic trim is a Marshall bronze for the joystick, side labels, and hinges. Everything is well designed here - which is more than I can say for many headphones I've had from other manufacturers in the past. Metal runs the entire length of the headband, and the space saving fold away feature is fully metal pieces. No plastic here to disintegrate (I'm looking at you Klipsch). The top headband has some super comfortable foam embedded too, which I can appreciate. The headband clamping force is on the tighter side, but not uncomfortable. Rather it feels solid enough they won't fall or move when you turn your head. Charging occurs through a micro-usb jack - standard, but I'm still waiting for USB-C ubiquity. The earcups are modular and magnetic, so easy enough to replace assuming they sell the replacements. Battery life is really great. Like others have stated, it's pretty dang good - lasting longer than I can really keep realistic track of. Unfortunately there is no removable battery here, so these are disposable headphones unfortunately (I did remove the T-8 torx screws but didn't find anything user serviceable). While construction is excellent, sound is good. I'm not trying to be too picky, but at the MSRP there are more compelling sounding headphones. While we'll have to wait and see what retail pricing actually looks like over time, they compete sound wise very well in the $100-150 range. Volume is loud. Notes are clear and vibrant. Bass is clear, and definitely enhanced, but the low end doesn't seem quite as powerful as other headphones in this class. The soundstage is narrow (as expected in over the ear designs), but again, sound quality and volume are both excellent here. Noise isolation is quite good, and while not noise cancelling, I could hardly hear anything outside the heaphones. Here the quality of the foam padding outweighs what can be accomplished on the low-end of the noise cancelling world. Marshall does something here I wish more headphone manufacturers would do more: be honest with you about the sound. We all know that manufacturers tend to enhance bass, and treble. Marshall actually prints the frequency response curve of the headphones on the box as a graph. This indicates that you aren't looking at a 'flat' set, but rather a 'powerful' curve (like most retail headphones). I love this about Marshall, and it builds credibility. In the box are a few accessories. The included bag seems durable, if not overly protective (although the headphones themselves seem pretty durable). The cable looks the part, with a coiled area for better cable management. The cable includes an AHJ mic and button. The 3.5mm jack is found on the base of the right earcup. All connections and cable ends are gold plated. Marshall executes a solid offering here. If you're in the market for bluetooth headphones and travel durability is on your priority list: you need to give these a shot. The value proposition at MSRP is there, given the construction quality, but audio is just average in that price range. Assuming you can find them lower, then this set makes a ton of sense. Highly recommended!

Dropped my other wireless in the pool so I needed another pair. These are great. Nice little bag, easy to charge, comfortable. Almost a little leery about using them while floating around in the pool, but I need to drown out the sound of the loud Cicada's and earbuds sweat out of my ears in this 100 degree temps.

First off, these aren't really over the ear for most people. These are very compact headphones and the ear cups won't be truly over-ear unless you have very small ears. Positives: *Good build quality, with metal hinges and textured ear cup exterior. *Sound is fairly balanced, with a slight lean towards a brighter sound. *Included cables and carrying bag are of a high quality. *Good battery life. * Good mid-bass response, but not overdone. *Headband sits close to your head, so these don't stick out like some headphones. *Ear cushions are magnetically attached and can be removed/replaced. Negatives: *Compact design could be uncomfortable if you have larger ears or head. *Exposed wires could potentially get snagged on something. *Single button control operation can be cumbersome at times. *Ear cushions and headband cushion aren't very thick. *No audible tone or anything letting you know when at max volume. * Ear cups don't rotate to lay flat. Overall, a very good pair of compact cans. Sound quality is good, with balance that leans a little to a brighter high end. The retail $250 is probably too high, but at the time of this review these are on sale for $145. At that price these are worth a look.

Marshall Monitor bluetooth headphones. These headphones have much to recommend them. They are very comfortable, and that’s the most important aspect of any headphone for me, especially over-the-ear headphones like these. You expect to have them on your head for lengthy periods of time, and the idea is to have them be so comfortable that you don’t notice they’re there. These headphones fit that description very well. The earpads are about as soft as I’ve ever experienced on a pair of headphones. They sit comfortably around the ears and are barely noticeable on your head. The sound quality is excellent. Setup is easy. The headphones require an initial charge of the battery, which can take up to two hours according to the included manual, but my pair was fully charged after about an hour. A full charge yields eight hours of playback at medium volume. A USB-C cable is included for charging. Then it’s a simple matter to pair the headphones with your bluetooth-capable output device (I used my LG phone), and you’re off and running. I tried both Youtube and satellite radio as my audio sources, and all sounded great through the headphones. These headphones also have a standard mini-audio jack and come with an audio cable for a wired connection to your audio source, and I have to say that it’s one of the nicest audio cables I’ve ever used. It’s coiled at one end like an old-style telephone cord, so it stays neatly untangled yet permits good freedom of movement. Another unusual feature of these headphones is that the earpieces can be folded into the arched part to make them very compact for storage. It’s a minor thing but a nice touch nonetheless. Highly recommended.

The Marshall Monitor headphones intrigued me at first glace.  Unpacking: The headphones come packed neatly in an attractive package. They fold up tightly. Also included in the box was a carry pouch, quick guide, instruction manual, charging cable (standard USB plug and micro USB), and a nice audio cable for passive listening. Everything seemed to be good quality.  The Monitors themselves are clad in black faux leather with the familiar Marshall script emblazoned on the sides. There is also a pretty cool retro coiled cable attached to each of the earcups. Overall, this is an attractive set of headphones, particularly if you have found any other Marshall equipment attractive.  Setup: Pairing the Monitor headphones was easy. With the headphones turned off, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. You'll hear a beep that lets you know the headphones are in pairing mode. Select "Monitor" in the available BT devices list on your phone, tablet, or computer. For those who have devices with a headphone jack, you can also just plug in.  Use: The Monitor headphones feel a little on the heavy side. The positive aspect of this is that they feel like they are durable and good quality. The downside is that you might have some fatigue wearing them for extended periods. The headband is comfortable, though. The earcups are over-the-ear but are a bit on the small side for OTE. However, my ears are not small, and the earcups fit me well. They are snug, but I was not uncomfortable.  The Monitors are not active noise-canceling headphones. As OTE headphones, though, they are passive noise  Everything is controlled by a single rocker-style button. The button is attractive, but I wish it were a bit larger and had a more tactile sensation when you push it in one of the four available directions (in addition to pushing it in).  These things charge quickly and hold a charge for a long time. One of the best aspects is they are rated to last 30 hours of use on a charge. That's super impressive. Music: One thing that is immediately obvious is that there is no distortion at any volume. That's pretty impressive. The soundfield is rich and deep. The type of sound tends toward the warmer end of the spectrum, but nothing is muddied. Compared to best-in-class headphones, the sound is a tad over-engineered and doesn't sound natural. For classical and such, you get good distinct notes and sounds, but you will not be fooled into thinking you are at a performance. For pop, hip hop, rap, and rock, the sound is much as you would experience in a quality venue. For country, the sound tends more toward "modern pop country" than classic country.  All that said, though, the sound is warm, clean, undistorted, and pleasant to listen to. Calls: Calls work well except that the Monitors don't have dual mics to minimize external noise. This means the caller on the other end will hear everything around you, although you will also come in very clearly to them. In my test, my wife could hear kids playing outside the house when I was sitting in a room at the front of the house. She could also hear me very clearly, though; and I could hear her perfectly well. Of note, if you use the audio cable instead of BT, the mic on the cable does a better job screening external noises.  Summary:  This is a quality mid-range set of headphones that is a jack of all trades. They look good and sound good. The sound will not wow you in the same way the really high-end stuff will, but then again, the price will not shock your wallet the same way the really high-end stuff will. There's also a cool factor attached to the Marshall name and look for those of us of a certain musical vintage.

I’ll begin by saying that the Marshall Monitor headphones produce a good quality sound. The way these headphone regurgitate music is only second to a few other higher end headphones. Watching movies or listening to music the highs are crisp and the lows feels as if the bass is live. What I find a bit disappointing is the controls. Although setup of these was quite simple, controlling the music is a bit of a challenge whether it’s the volume or skipping to the next track. Also the on ear design is a little tight causing a slight discomfort. The look of these are top notch and they come with a nice carrying case with all required cable to charge or listen to music wired. I would definitely recommend these to friends and family.
