    Head-Turning Headphones

I have a lot of headphones. I own wired, wireless, on ear, over the ear, in ear and everything other kind of headphone you could possibly think of. My wife actually thinks I may have an addiction to buying headphones. Does this make me qualified to write a review on these, no..but I'm going to do it anyway because I can. So these headphones scream quality . They are substantial in material and feel like a high quality piece of equipment. So there can be no bad side to using a metal band and thick plastic on a pair of headphones, right? Wrong, these are definitely a little heavier than other comparable wireless headphones from Sony and Bose. This may not really bother many users, but I do notice the difference between wearing these and wearing a pair of QC35s, the Bose are just a bit more comfy to wear for extended periods of time. Now onto the sound. These sound great! I say this even after being concerned that they didn't support AAC or Apt-x, but my concerns have been unwarranted as I didn't notice any degradation in audio quality or sync issues when using this with both my iPhone 8 Plus or my MacBook. Range on these is phenomenal and I have no complaints in this area either. I can easily move around my office without losing connection or having to take these off. Marshall includes a pretty basic phone app to control the level of ANC on these headphones and to turn on monitor mode. Some of these functions can be done from the buttons on the actual headphones, which is pretty neat. ANC works well, but not as well as the Bose QC35 or the Sony XM3s. They'll be plenty good at isolating sound and there isn't any annoying hiss or hum to the ANC, which is great. Monitor mode boosts everything around you and work well if you don't want to take off the headphones and decide you want to have a conversation with co-worker. Overall I really enjoyed my time testing these headphones and would definitely suggest them as a nice alternative to the Bose QC35s/700s or the Sony XM3s if you want something that turns heads, as these definitely do that. I've gotten more comments on these headphones than any of my other (even more expensive) headphones. The textured look to these and the Marshall logo make these a conversation starter and you'll be asked a lot if "you play"...be prepared for that or go learn an instrument before purchasing these. My only hesitation in buying these is the price point seems to be a bit high in this very competitive space and the headphones themselves could be a bit lighter for extended use comfort. Other than that, Marshall seems to have a solid wireless over the ear blueooth headphone with Monitor IIs. Pros: Solid build, quality materials Unique look Good audio quality Cons: Heavier than Sony XM3s or Bose QC35s

There are my first active noise canceling headphones, which I was hoping to use for travel before the coronavirus situation escalated. However, I've found them more useful while working at home than I was expecting. They do an excellent job of muting out my (very loud) HVAC and washing machine, both of which are next to my computer work area. I experienced clear audio during multiple calls, and never had any complaints from those on the other end. I really appreciate that the noise canceling level is adjustable in the companion app, as active noise canceling headphones tend to give me a headache, especially if I my sinuses are clogged at all. These headphones are definitely stylish and won't be mistaken for any of the myriad black over ear headphone options out there. I like the joystick-style controller on the right ear cup for volume, play/pause and track selection. I also like that you have some flexibility with the ANC and "M" shortcut buttons through the smartphone app. They feel well-constructed overall, and when folded up and stored in the included pouch I wouldn't worry too much about putting them in my backpack on the way to the airport. The headphones sound good to great, depending on your expectations. The Marshall app also helpfully provides an adjustable equalizer with a number of presets for different types of music. I found I was satisfied just leaving it on the default "Marshall" profile, which I would describe as a warm-neutral sound profile. Thanks to the ANC I never found the need to crank the volume too loud but rest assured these headphones can get plenty loud if needed. As a glasses-wearer with a larger head I usually have trouble with both on-ear and over-ear headphones, but these Marshalls have proven very comfortable. They are well-padded and not too heavy, and include plenty of height adjustability. I appreciate that the height adjustment is stiff enough to stay put even when the headphones are folded up and put away, and that the height levels are numbered so you can be sure both sides are at the same height. Overall, I would recommend giving these headphones a serious look, especially if you like the unique look and want something with adjustable ANC. Other 'phones may have better noise-canceling abilities, but if you find high ANC uncomfortable like I do, you'll surely appreciate the option for customization provided by these Marshalls.

Marshall does a great job blending an unassuming, classic exterior and retro flair, with high end sound reproduction and seamless integration with the features you need to get the best experience possible. The gold metallic multi-function button and a couple of other hidden buttons is what gives these headphones a minimalist, basic look. You need to access the Marshall app to configure the presets for both buttons. I had a slight problem connecting to the phone because I tried first connecting to the app. That's a no no, first you connect to the phone's bluetooth, then to the app and there should be no problem. When you put them on, you notice great care went into making them very comfortable on the head and over the ears with soft, supple cushions. Higher frequencies and surround effect are crisp and encompassing. Bass tones, though handled well, are not as deep and rich as I would like. The customizable M button can be set to Google Voice, 3 EQ presets, or native voice. I noticed tapping Google voice only gives you the time and events list, you have to hold the button in order for it to accept speech input which is good for privacy, but not convenience. The left hidden button exclusively controls the preset ANC from on, to monitor, to off. Noise cancelling feature is adjustable from 10% up to the full 100% and works great at cancelling out most sounds. With ANC on, it holds to whatever setting, in Monitor mode, it monitors for outside sound and actively dampens based on the transparency you set which is a cool bit of tech. In this "stay at home" atmosphere, these headphones help carve out some quiet, blurring the background just enough so you can concentrate when you're not listening to tunes. A go-to device for both great sound and no sound so you can work from home and not get distracted while on a conference call.

After only two uses the padding came off of one of the ear coverings. Not sure if it was bad glue or what. The sound prior to that isn't what I would expect from the brand and price point.

I love these headphones! Very nice looking, very comfortable even though they feel a bit heavier than some other headphones I have worn in the past. I enjoy the way these sound, the highs are not tinny and do not get lost in thunderous bass. Very clean sound. The controls on the headset work really well. It is easy to switch between noise cancelling and monitor modes with the press of a button. The gold button on the earcup is a small joystick which makes operation easier than some other brands that use touch buttons, haptic feedback or smaller individual buttons. I like the old-school aesthetic that these headphones achieve. My only complaint would be that they seem to be a bit heavier than the competition. That being said, the extra weight could be attributed to a higher build quality. They feel very solid. All in all, these are quality headphones that look cool and sound great!

    These hit the mark

Here’s my takeaway after getting these headphones: 1. They’re different than what you see most people wearing. In the past, I’ve liked having name-brand products of mine being on the inconspicuous side. These are not. The Marshall name is right out there for the world to see. Kind of retro; kind of cool. 2. I like the feel and texture of these. They have that pebble-grained leather-like feel and look, just like Marshall’s amps. Even the exposed cables have that retro coiled look, just like my first corded stereo headphones did 50 years ago. They also seem to have a bit of a lower profile than some others I’ve seen. Not quite as bulbous, if you will. 3. These are replacing my first and only (up to this point) noise cancelling headphones. Holy smokes, have I been missing out for the last 15 years! Science! 4. I love the sound reproduction. Plenty of bass and treble for this self-proclaimed audiophile. (C’mon, you know you’re just like me. Embrace your audio expertise! We like good sounding music, and these headphones make that happen!) And the sound is fully customizable through the app. 5. Even though others have knocked the Marshalls for this — I actually appreciate the fact that they don’t have a hardshell protective case. They fold up very compactly, slide right into a sturdy denim-like bag, and easily tuck away in a backpack. I like that. A hardshell case, though probably a bit more protective, just takes up too much room. Let’s face it, I trust my backpack to protect my laptop. I trust it to protect these headphones. There you have it. These Marshall Monitor II ANC Wireless Headphones do the job quite nicely for me. Don’t be afraid to give them a try.

I'm not going to bore you with all the technical information seeing as that is easily found in places other than a review. But I am going to say that Marshall has gone far and above expectations in the realm of technical enhancements to make the Marshall Monitor II headphones among the best you can buy in this price range. Out of the box, the headphones were amazingly simple to set up and begin using. The Quick Start Guide has three basic steps, and for me, each one went flawlessly. In a little over two minutes, I was already listening to music. The manual controls are also amazingly simple to learn and use. The gold button on the right ear piece controls the volume and the skip-forward/skip-back functions. The black button on the right earpiece allows you to alternate between three equalizer settings. On the left earpiece, the black button switches between ANC, monitoring level, and off. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. To me, the quality of the Marshall headphones make other headphones in this class look cheap. The very-well-padded headband, the tufted over-the-ear ear cups, the textured earpieces with the Marshall logo emblazoned across each side, the superior quality of the moving parts...everything simply scream superior quality. But the real test...the sound. None of the other stuff would matter if the sound was inferior. For the past two weeks I have put these headphones to the test. I have listened to almost every genre of music out there, from classical to hip-hop to heavy metal. (Sorry, no country...). The range is everything I expected and more. You can hear sounds you would never be able to hear on the competition. Regardless of the volume, there is never the slightest bit of distortion. The sound of the instruments and the vocals are delivered to the ear in crystal-clarity. The sound, the clarity, the comfort and fit, and the construction of the headphones make for the perfect combination. The one and only minor flaw for me was that the ANC was just not quite there. Don't get me wrong, it's still great, but not as good as the comparable Bose or Sony headphones. All in all, these are the best you can buy in this class of headphones. I would recommend them to even the snootiest of connoisseur.

I can't say enough about the new Marshall Monitor ll ANC Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones. From out of the box with the simple quick start guide and manual that included a detachable 3.5 cable, USB-C charging cable to the cool canvas carrying bag. The Marshall Headphone with the easy access control gold knob on right side was able to connect to my smart phone right away. Downloading the Marshall Bluetooth App was a breeze using my Samsung Galaxy S7 that gives you ability to control and complete set up of the Marshall Monitor ll ANC. The Bluetooth App lets you adjust the amount of Active Noise Cancelling from ON-MON-OFF to your personal preference. The M-Button is used to control the Equaliser and talk to Google Assist. The Bluetooth App also has an Auto Off Timer where you can set a time for the Marshall Monitor ll ANC Headphones to turn off. My favorite function of the Marshall Bluetooth App is the Equaliser that lets you choose between 3 presets or create your own such as Jazz, Hip-Hop or the original Marshal Sound. I went for a walk on 50% level out of the box and was very satisfied with the performance and flexibility of the Marshall Headphones. Overall, I am very impressed with the Marshall Monitor ll ANC Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones that provides a two-way operation and control by manually Headphone or using the Bluetooth App. The Wireless Playtime is very long and Ok Google is a great addition.

For me very comfortable, without the headphones on the headphones block noise out pretty well. I have smaller ears , those with bigger ears may not fits as well. The connectivity is decent , only problem is the power button . If not pressed completely straight down won’t turn off. The button serves multiple purposes. I enjoy these headphones. Fit more slimmer the most.

Quality product marred by cranky Bluetooth pairing

The Marshall Monitor II headphones are a solidly built set of cans with Active Noise Cancelling and a few steam-punk styling choices (curled cords, a rippled metal finish and a gold joy-stick style control button) that will draw attention to the wearer. The headphones have satisfying heft and feel quite sturdy. The sound quality is very good and they are comfortable to wear. The ANC is good but not great. I have two other brands of over-the-ear noise cancelling headsets that do a slightly better job but not enough of a difference to be THE deciding factor in your choice. There is another factor though that is extremely annoying. These headphones appear to be very cranky about Bluetooth pairing. They simply refused to pair with either of our cellphones (different brands and manufacturers) but paired immediately with my laptop. That is the saving grace for me as my intent was to find a good pair of over-the-ears to use with my laptop when I travel. These work great with Windows Sonic, Dolby for headphones and DTS Headphone:X so they are a keeper for me. I encourage you to consider these headphones but keep your receipt just in case you can't get them to work with your phone!

When pairing the headphones to your phone(s), make sure that you are holding the Gold Knob in long enough that the LED light cycles from white to a DEEP BLUE. Marshall's Monitor II headphones are one of the more comfortable over-the-ear sets I've tried. The oval ear cups are nicely cushioned, fit well around the ear and provide a good seal without feeling like your head is being crushed. Marshall's app allows the user to adjust noise cancelling and sound equalization and buttons on the ear cups toggle through their options. Sound is decent and well balanced without overpowering bass. Overall these are very nice headphones that fit well in Marshall's line of Bluetooth products.

The name Marshall in music is second to none, whether its high powered tube guitar amplifiers, Bluetooth speakers or the Marshall - MONITOR II A.N.C. Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones. These headphones deliver the cleanest and richest sound on the market today. The setup in the app was simple. The headphones are easily adjusted for your personal taste. The star feature of the Marshall - MONITOR II A.N.C. Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones is the noise canceling feature. My nephews came by to visit and after an hour of the Paw Patrol et al I needed a little personal time. Ah, Jimi Hendrix and then Pink Floyd bliss. The headset not only cancels unwanted sound but delivers the best sound over any others in its class bar none. The quality of the Marshall - MONITOR II A.N.C. Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones is also second to none. Cheers!

These are very nice headphones. They were very easy to set up with my phone. No need for codes. The sound was great. I could still hear some background noise, but not too much. The leather around the ears is nice and soft. Very well made. Not too heavy when wearing. I was very pleased with the quality of these earphones. I guess I'm old school, but I still like the brands I grew up with, JBL, Infinity and Marshall all bring back great memories of the music of my youth. That is one reason I was so excited to get my first pair of Marshall -Monitor II headphones! These live up to all of my expectations and more. Setup and connecting to bluetooth was a breeze. After setup, I was able to charge up the headphones and take them out for a test run. Sound quality is always number one for me when it comes to any type of speaker and I am extremely happy with what I have been hearing from these headphones. Bass response and depth of the sound is what sets speakers apart and I am pleased with how the Marshalls perform. Volume is more than adequate and and the controls are easy to navigate. You have a programmable button that can access a voice assistant, a button that changes the Noise cancellation (in case you need to speak to someone while wearing these) and the main button that controls volume, on/off and forward and replay as well as answering and hanging up calls. If I have to find a negative, when I first picked these up, they seemed to be heavy in the hand, but to me that seemed to instill a feeling of quality. I have not notices the weight while wearing them, however. I have been wearing them while mowing, and on tractors and the noise cancellation is as good as any I have used. The weight is not noticeable and volume and sound quality is great. What more could you want in a high end set of headphones.

I really like my Marshall Monitor II headphones. They are wireless, rechargeable and feature Active Noise Cancelling technology (ANC) which allows you to "turn off" noise cancelling. I use quotes with "turn off" because it sounds more like outside noise is being mic'ed in as opposed to the sound directly passing through the headphones to your ears. You can adjust the strength of this feature via the smartphone app. The headphones come with a USB cord for recharging (no outlet adapter), a 3.5mm cord for wired use, and a storage bag. The headphones have three buttons. One is the on/off switch for ANC, one (M button) allows you to switch through 3 equalizer presets and the third controls power, volume and track control (next, previous, pause). The function for the M button can be changed to a native voice assistant or Google assistant. Each ear piece has adjustable height, but the headband is not expandable. I have a fairly large head and find the fit to be adequately comfortable. Although after just half an hour of use I do experience the phantom headphone feeling for a while after taking them off. These headphones do have a bit of weight to them. I would not recommend them for use on the treadmill. Also, they aren't water resistant, so I wouldn't recommend them for any kind of physical activity. Sound is pretty good, although I find the headphones to be a little heavy on the bass. There are a handful of equalizer presets as well as limited customization through the app, although, as outlined below, I've experienced some issues with that function. There is an independent volume control on the headphones themselves in addition to the volume control on your phone. So you are able to get a pretty high volume that stays crisp, though hearing damage is definitely a risk. What I like about these headphones: - They comfortably encase my ears. My ears are a little on the larger side and over-the-ear headphones usually sit on my ears instead of over them, which gets very uncomfortable over a short period of time. These fully cover each ear with comfortable padding. - The ability to turn off noise cancelling. Sometimes you need to be able to hear what your kids are getting in to. - Their ability to fold up/included bag. They fold easily and the bag is great for storage and keeping them dust-free. - They seem to hold a pretty good charge. I've been playing with them for 4 or 5 days now for an hour or so a day and have yet to charge them. Out of the box they had a 70% charge and are now at just under 50%. - Ability to listen wirelessly as well as wired. Wire is included and has a decent length. You don't get EQ functionality while wired, but I don't find the quality of sound to suffer. Some may even prefer the sound quality while wired over EQ enhanced sound, as it is less muddy. - Minimal Bluetooth lag. With other wireless headphones I have used I have experienced significant lag times in voices syncing with mouth movements while streaming a television show or movie. I have only tested N-flix with these headphones so far and wasn't bothered by what little lag there was. What I do not like about these headphones: - The Bluetooth LED indicator. Typically a Bluetooth device will have a flashing LED while connecting with another device and then either turn off or stay continuously lit once connected. The LED on these headphones flash once the connection is made and continue until the connection is terminated. In a brightly lit room or out in the sunlight it isn't noticeable, but with the lights turned down a little, the flashing gets pretty annoying. - You must allow access to your location to use the app. I'm not one to be paranoid that someone is keeping tabs on me, but it weirds me out when something that doesn't rely on GPS for its primary function requires it for access to an app. - The app. It is unnecessary, save for tweaking your EQ or changing the name of your headphones. To be fair, while there is an Android app, the box only lists the app as available in the iPhone app store. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S8, so these app issues may not be experienced with an iPhone. -- I have trouble customizing my EQ settings. With the app open music will come through choppy, which makes it next to impossible to hear what adjustments I am making. -- Also, the app allows you to turn on/off sounds for power and media control for which only the power option works for me. The sounds are guitar amp sounds used to indicate you've pressed a button, but they're loud and kind of annoying. A beep or click would be preferred. -- Furthermore, the app sometimes has difficulty connecting and staying connected to my headphones.

    — Construction — Phenomenal build quality - everything about the construction is top-notch. The top most portion that touches the top of your head is heavily padded with a soft material. A similar (if not the same) material is used for the ear cups which again are very comfortable. They come with a decently long USB-C charging cable, a very lengthy 3.5mm audio cable, and a very nice quality carrying pouch. — Controls — Controls are well though out. There is an ANC button on the left earpiece that toggles between ANC On, pass-through, or off modes, and then on the right earpiece there is an “M-button” which toggles between different equalizer settings. Additionally, and this is probably one of my favorite features of these headphones, there is a gold button that powers the headphones on or off, but you can also control the volume by toggling the button in an upwards or downwards direction, and then you can go forward or previous on tracks. It’s a really well thought out interface. — Sound — When I first put them on and started listening to some tracks, I was blown away at the clarity - extremely crisp and clear. However, I tend to prefer a bit more on the low end so I went into the app, which is a nicely designed app, to adjust the EQ but it left a bit to be desired. It’s kind of strange - but I feel like increasing the low end doesn’t necessarily increase the bass - it’s more that it just decreases the high end. Don’t expect a low-end punch from these headphones - you may be disappointed. That said, the clarity and resolution is exceptional. Crystal clear across the entire range and you can crank these things without experiencing any distortion. — ANC — Other than the sound clarity, the other highlight of these headphones is the Active Noise Cancelling - which is second to none. Incredibly good. They did an exceptional job at neutralizing outside noises and these should definitely be considered as some very good ANC headphones.
