Love everything about the looks and controls ( power switch can be tricky at times). Great sounds quality with treble and bass knobs.
And it’s a beautiful addition to a room unlike most speakers.

I had this for a couple days and tested it on multiple inputs and with a good variety of music types. This is a solid cabinet with some cool features. The Bluetooth was easy to set up, and it has aux and stereo RCA inputs. Tone control is a bass and treble dial which does do well to color your music the way you want it.
Test set up:
Bass flat at 0
Treble flat at 0
Sources were Bluetooth with Dolby Atmos filter enabled from the phone. AUX with same phone and audio output to RCA from a Denon processor.
Played some bass heavy rap music and I must say the bass from the 50 watt sub was impressive. The highs were good as well, even without adding tone from the treble dial. The spread was wide and had a good bass thump that you could hear and feel.
Mids were flat and almost sounded a bit hallow even without the Dolby filter on. Highs were clear and bright. As I adjusted tone controls I could hear a clear difference and there was almost no distortion at a moderate volume levels.
For the other types of music the results were also pretty good. The clarity was noticeably better on solo piano and guitar music. Once the vocals came in the sound becomes a bit hallow, it lacks mid range...the crossover between the sub and mid level bass just isn't right. The addition of a mid bass level adjustment knob might have made a difference too.
Overall I would recommend this for a room or a garage space. It's not ideal as it must be powered by AC voltage at all times, no option for portability here. This speaker has good sound pressure levels, but is not as sofisticated quality of sound as say a Bose or HEOS stand alone speaker. My rating is based on the overall Sonic quality of the system, not just how loud it goes. If you just want loud speakers, get the big ugly Sony speaker!

Hello, thanks for your comments and feedback. We suggest testing the speakers with bass and treble set around 5 to start, you can adjust more and less as you prefer from there. 0 on both the bass and treble would be subtracting from the sound rather than setting a flat baseline. We hope you will consider Marshall Headphones again in the future.

One of the best Bluetooth speakers out there. I purchased it on sale for $199. That was a great value, but even at MSRP it delivers great sound for a speaker this size. Nice highs, mids and even bass. Perfect for my 1 bedroom apartment. Placed it in the living room 12x19. More than enough volume and the internal amps are excellent.

Best non-portable bluetooth speaker under $1k

I have the Stanmore and now the Stanmore II. Bought them new, both on sale below $200 at BB.
At first I thought, wow, considering the price point, this sounds pretty good. The more I listened, that opinion turned to, wow, this thing sounds better than my AudioEngine A5+ set, about $400, sans the stereo separation inherent in having two separate speakers. I then heard the Klipsch version of this same form factor (called 'The Three II') and the Stanmore was better than that. I'm going to assume that if you buy a KEF or ELAC set with bluetooth then those will have to sound better, but given they're both over $2k in price, I'll stick with saying the Stanmore is likely the best AC powered bluetooth speaker under $1k. For $200 I consider it a steal.
I do wish it had optical in, which some European models had in the original Stanmore, and that the 3.5 mm input was on the back next to the RCA inputs instead of being on top. As it is, neither Stanmore nor Stanmore II US models are like that.
The main difference between the Stanmore and the Stanmore II is that the latter has illumination around the dials to tell you how far the dial is set, the power switch was a flip switch and is now a toggle which must be held for a second or two to turn the unit on or off, and the speaker plays a brief Marshall jingle when turning on or off, which in my personal opinion they could have done without. It would seem the internals and cabinet are otherwise the same.

Love this classic looking speaker. I did need to use the app to change the equalizer to get it to sound good to my ear, but now it's perfect.
Sometimes, it gives me a problem when switching songs or albums (Amazon Music). It says it's connected but no sound comes out? I have to go press the power switch to make it come back on. Super Annoying!!
But, it really does sound good. Nice base line that I was looking for. It isn't really portable if that is what you're looking for. But it can be moved from room to room. I would love it it had a handle.
Overall, very happy with this purchase.

Amazing speaker. Buy it. No debate needed.
The sound is so crisp like fresh cut grass in the summer weather.
The bass is so present like a good dad.
Plus it looks cool especially if you're a dad with a guitar.

Really nice Bluetooth speaker that really sings when it is linked with another Marshall speaker. I was looking for a speaker that had a better sound quality than all of the previous Bluetooth speakers I’ve had in the past and this one does that when it is being used to play music in a small space like a bedroom. However, the sound begins to degrade and distort when trying to play it at or near maximum volume while trying to fill a larger room with sound. Adding a second unit and linking them via the Marshall app solved that issue for me and when purchased on sale, two of these units are usually cheaper than buying a similarly powered quality Bluetooth speaker.

This is an outstanding speaker, with a crisp and powerful sound, from the app (after updating the firmware) you can adjust the equalizer, the lights, select the imputs... Everything sounds great with this piece of art, from Yanni to Dire Straits to Bathory... It's just PERFECT!

Sometime at the end of the CD era, I ceased to have a "stereo system" in my home. All my CDs were ripped, and I began decades of listening to music through headphones. I certainly benefited from the true stereo and the isolation of listening to music through headphones. Recently, I started working at home and no longer needed to worry about upsetting co-workers with loud music. My wife bought me this speaker as an Xmas present. Wow! It really fills a room with great sound from my phone or computer via Bluetooth. I'm rediscovering my music again with great bass and a fullness you never get from headphones. I haven't tried the audio input, but like the option.

Sound is clear and bass is punchy.
Wasn’t expecting much from a relatively small speaker, but was I pretty blown away.
Pretty much from the time I opened the package I knew this was a quality speaker. The craftsmanship and weight behind it proved to me it was quality. Once it was plugged in and playing music it continued to impress me.

Sound quality is good, though unbalanced and with a limited listening range. You have to be sitting directly front of it to get the best experience, and it’s definitely powerful on bass. Ultimately, I returned it because the app is useless and the coupling function never properly worked. It’s a good looking speaker but it doesn’t meet the standards I would expect from Marshall. So I spend a bit more and got a Sonos. Couldn’t be happier!

Very nice blue tooth modern day speaker with high quality sound. At my age it's really hard to hear most anything from my phone in a water proof case. So I use this speaker to watch many YouTube videos. And information videos as well as entertainment YouTube videos or plain old Rock and roll music.

I got this one because there was 100 dollars off, which was extremely rare occurrence. One thing that bothers me is that this quality wireless bluetooth speaker does NOT provide portable function. It should be directly connected to power outlet. This issue would make your room look ugly/ disorganized/ messy. Also, you cannot put the speaker only on some places in which power outlet is located at reachable distance.

I purchased this Marshall Stanmore II after returning a JBL Extreme 3. Northing wrong with the JBL. It's an incredible speaker. The Marshall I have set up on a shelf in the garage. You sacrifice portability for better sound. It sounds very good playing rock, jazz and instrumental music. Very happy with this purchase.
