Looks like a real watch and functions as expected

If you want a watch that is primarily a watch - used to tell time - then this watch is for you. To me a watch is a utilitarian device that is used as a tool to keep the user efficient. This watch does just that and does it very well. Notification vibrations can be customized so that you know if it is a phone call, text or football game score coming in. I manage a restaurant and communicate with suppliers and employees via text and phone all day long. In busy times I may not hear the phone or see the urgent text. This watch fixes that and fixes it very well. Add to that - it is beautiful and it looks like a watch not a tv screen on your wrist. This is a perfect accessory to my smartphone instead of a replacement for it.

    Great watch with smart functionality!,,

I did my research when I decided to purchase my first smartwatch. As with anything "tech" it's about reliability, functionality, but most importantly, what is useful to the consumer. In the relatively new smartwatch category of technological devices it's less about what it can do and more about what you actually want it to do. For me, I didn't want to be talking to my wrist all day or trying awkwardly to take pictures with my watch. In the 80's calculator watches didn't last for a reason...nobody needs a calculator on their wrist. Taking the infinite wisdom that I've obtained through 38 years of existence, I ultimately decided on the Martian Notifier and here is why: 1. It notifies me of anything that I want it to notify me of. Texts, email, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, whatever. 2. It doesnt replace my cell phone, which is in my pocket and easily accessible, it enhances it. 3. It looks like a watch. It doesn't look like a miniature cell phone on my wrist. It doesn't look like I wish I was at a Star Trek Convention. I look at my wrist and see the time. Beautiful. 4. It is a watch. A real life watch, like in the 1800's. Like the one that you would have bought yourself 5 years ago. Look at your wrist, see the time. No screen or buttons to push. 5. The battery will last days before recharge. Since the clock face and screen are 2 separate batteries, recharging is a couple of times a week. In summary, this watch is perfect for me. Not ridiculous in features I will not use. Not an overpriced gadget. Not trying to figure out what it should be (Galaxy Gear, I'm talking to you). It knows what it is and performs it beautifully. Best of all is that it's relatively inexpensive. Now, with its price point understand that it is made of plastic and with that it is understandably not very rugged. I've had to return my first Notifier because one of the buttons fell out. The Best Buy associate was amazing and promptly exchanged it for me. Regardless, it never crossed my mind to "upgrade" to another, more expensive, smart watch. This is a perfect watch for what I need it to do. You really can't lose if you buy it.

    A smartwatch that puts a watch 1st

This is a smartwatch that puts the watch 1st and technology 2nd. I love the fact that the appeal of the watch is classy and well designed. I have always been a fan of Martian Watches however they were very expensive but they did a bit more (IE Dick Tracy watches). This watch is priced just right and for all it does I was shocked it was priced at a standard watch price. I love the fact that others are unable to tell that it's a smartwatch and that t it has two batteries installed. The main battery controls the analog part and the smartwatch is controlled by a rechargeable battery. This makes sense to me considering if the smartwatch isn't charge the watch will still function as a standard watch. The company advertise the watch will last up to two years before the standard battery has to be changed and that the rechargeable battery last up to 3 years if charged correctly I have three minor issues. 1st is the other advertised watchbands aren't available at this time however they will be within 3-4 weeks per Martian support. 2nd the elements (analog hands are hard hard to see at night even though they glow in the dark. 3rd depending on which Notifier you buy the firmware is different. Example I purchased two of these the white and red one. The white one's firmware is on 10.37 and the red one's firmware is on 10.4. I contacted the company regarding and was told there was not a difference between the two and that 10.4 was the newest. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. I have tried using it with apps such as runkeeper only to find out it does not help track time nor does it have a timer installed, maybe a later update will implement the timer. Other than that this watch is solid. I am currently using the watch on a Global Moto G running Android 4.4.3.

I have now returned this item twice, for two very different reasons. The first one, quit vibrating after about 16 days. In the first week, zero issues. Worked great. After that, when it vibrated, no matter what strength I put the vibration on, I could hear that it sounded different. Then quit vibrating all together. The 2nd one I returned because after about 6 weeks, it would not connect to my phone at all. I noticed, for a few days that it would drop connection, and since I had the leash function enabled, it would reconnect. Well, then it would not connect at all on the last day. I looked for an update for the app? No update. I tried turning both my phone and the watch off, and on. Then trying to re-establish a connection. The first time it did for a few seconds, then immediately said disconnected and would not reconnect again. There's a reason this watch is such a great price. To be honest, these smart watches are cool, and a hair over $100 I find reasonable. The others being over $200!? It's not worth it to me. I'm very saddened by this, I absolutely loved the watch. It looks great, it fits perfectly, and for a while it works without a hitch. It's just unfortunate that I got two duds. I won't be buying another watch, and I recommend anyone that does, buy Best Buy's protection. You don't want to be left out in the cold on this one.

    Nothing better for the money

I needed a way too see texts and call info at work where I cannot use my iPhone. The Martian Notifier did this perfectly! Only complaint was how quickly it drained my iPhone battery. After 6 months the little metal ring around the bezel fell off and was lost. I contacted support for a new ring and was sent a new "watch". How's that for customer support!!! The new version no longer drains my iPhone battery. Great product! Great support!

Works as advertised, bad smarthphone battery drain

I received this as a gift from bestbuy.com Let me start off my saying I really like the look of this watch- its a whole lot nicer and premium looking in person than the photos really show for it online. No problem at all wearing this in a professional environment. Timepiece is rock solid. The downside- When you have the bluetooth functionality on for the watch to get notifications of emails, texts, and other push notifications from the phone, the battery drain is severe on the phone. My iphone battery which normally lasts well past bedtime with plenty of charge left is now nearly dead upon coming home from work at 5pm and needs to go on the charger. While I understand using bluetooth devices will drain the battery, I also use a Pebble smartwatch which gives similar notifications, and barely drains the battery at all. As such, the performance to me is unacceptable. Ultimately, yes the watch is nice and all the functionality works as advertised, but the drain on my phone battery makes it that I almost don't want to turn the notifications on (which is the whole point of this watch in the first place). What is more, the manufacturer doesn't have anything to say when posed with this problem. Dissapointed.

I bought this watch for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loves how easy it works. It's a nicely put together watch and it does exactly what it's supposed to. He likes it when he has work meetings and can keep up with his emails and texts without taking out his phone to check. No, you can't respond with them, but he likes to see them as they come.

Must Admit thought of Smart Watches as OVERKILL...But having this watch a week truly changed my Mind. My job is not condusive to constantly pulling out my phone and unlocking it just to see who texted me or why and my email. This device instantly alerts me and shows me Preview of such which gives me option of knowing what to respond to or which situations can wait. I also use it at home while I'm wstching tv or charging my phone. IT RARELY CONES OFF MY WRIST

Best actual "smart" watch ever!...If you think you need maps...full email and txt functionality...photos...camera...health track...facebook..etc etc etc...on your wrist, then think again...I bought and still own two smartwaches and three smartbands because I thought that is what I needed and one was more special than the other because it has an led screen...but wait this other has a full led screen...oh wait this smartband has a heart rate monitor....oh and that one has no screen and is the smallest of all...pffff...believe me...you get exited the first few months then yo start forgetting recharging your wearable...forgetting sinc it with your phone...you take it off for a day and a week passes by and you don't remember you had it...why???? because it is an illusion.....MOST newer smartphones can give you all of these and MORE so..why have a mini phone on your wrist? I came to the conclusion that you don't......when I saw the MARTIAN notifier I didn't know if I wanted to spend more money in another "smart" wearable but because I'm a tech geek well I gave it a try. I wasn't sure what I was hopping for: notifications? that's it? where is the camera on this thing? why such a small led screen? no health track...steps...heart monitor? well....I'm glad it doesn't have all those gimmicks...YES! it's a simple notifier...and it works better than any wearable....set up is easy as 1,2 and...that's it! well...the tricky part is that once you download the notifier app you tell your phone what you want to be notified for....if it's news then activate your news app notification...twitter from a special one same thing...weather you got it....but best of all: phone calls...txt...email...and reminders.......you don't know how many times I walked to the resrtroom and left my phone in my cubicle and got an important txt or call...I came back and I usually double check my phone but when I'm busy I just keep working and ignore anything missing on my phone...well thanks to my notifier I cam see who is txting me or calling me when I'm away from my phone......I will be honest about this...my football team is playing during a meeting or church and I can't be taking my phone out to check the score...I simply set up the notification on my phone and I receive a message on the little screen with a brief message score....I just need to be notified...everything else I can do with my smartphone....my advice...try it...I can keep talking about how cool idea this is but I've already talked too much....I hope you like it if you buy one...

A great watch that compliments your phone

I looked at Pebble for a while and decided, I don't want to look like I'm wearing a mini-smartphone on my wrist. I don't need to take calls or answer texts from my watch. And I still want a nice timepiece. Enter Martian. While I considered the Victory and G2G, I chose the Notifier for the ability to customize the vibrations per app. I have not been disappointed. While initially it doesn't look like all of my apps are available, as notifications started coming through, the Martian Notifier App recognized them and allowed me to customize those apps once I got the initial notification and added it to the list. This is a great smart watch if you really looking to be able to prioritize what you pull your phone out for, or want a somewhat inconspicuous way to check your notifications when you couldn't otherwise. That being said, because it requires a constant Bluetooth connection to your phone, you better have a battery case, like Mophie. In the 1.5 hours I have had my watch on and connected, I have lost 15% battery. And I am not running any background apps and only fetching emails every hour. I'm also not super thrilled about the silicon watch band. I have a plan to swap it out for something a little nicer, but that's just personal preference. Overall, great smart watch for when you simply want to be notified without having to pull out your phone.

I've tried the galaxy gear, pebble and meta watch...This watch beats all of them with looks ,style and useful functions. Although it's not touch screen like the galaxy gear, it has a better look to wear with anything. You can lower the alerts while wearing so when a call, or text comes in all you have to to is glance instead of stare and to reject a call...tap the screen. You cam also recall text and calls within 5min. There is a list of alerts such as Alarms, exercise and others. Best design out

    A watch then a notifier

I love this watch. It is amazing. For, I do not buy into smart watches yet and I do not think the functionality is where they should be at to truly get myself into a smart watch. However, I love this watch for it is a watch first and a beautiful one at that yet it also gives me simple notifications I really want. It is perfect. The only downside is the charging. I wish it had a docking station instead of trying to fit the insanely long usb into it. But can't be perfect. Love it though.

My wife bought this for me as a birthday gift, I love it! I collect watches, so the looks of a watch matter to me a lot. This one adds great value to my collection. It looks like a regular watch, yet it is able to notify me about everything I need care to be notified about. I also own the Samsung Gear, but I never use any of the extra features of the Gear. I used it for the notification, which this unit is able to provide. Great unit indeed

This watch does exactly what it is meant to do. No more missed calls or notifications for that matter. If your at a loud venue just leave ur phone in ur pocket and the watch will vibrate and show you who's calling or texting. Be sure to turn on the specific notifications that you want on ur phone though.
