I bought this to replace my paradigm sub i had that over the years has been going down hill. I loved the sound of this sub and it def puts out some bass. But music sounds good on it to. But then came the problems When I would shut it off it would stay in stand by for about 20 minutes and then when powering down would output a very very loud popping buzzing noise. Loud enough it would wake us out of sleep. After a couple nights of getting the cr#p scared out of me I brought it back and decided to go with the super cube 2000. which I will write a review on after a week of trying it out. Now dont get me wrong my experience prob wont happen to everyone and other than that the subwoofer is great for the money and does everything it says it does. But I just decided after that to try something different.

I was hesitant at the beginning to believe the good reviews about this subwoofer. Honestly, this sub exceeded my expectations. I played some really heavy bass and low frequency music from you tube in the first few days, and the sound is simply pure! Shakes the ground with no distortion. In par with more expensive subs if not better. So far I'm very pleased, hopefully it will last!

    So far, so good

After two weeks my Def Tech ProSub 600 quit! I blew it while turning up a scene in "The Dark Knight" on bluray. I had it setup with the Pioneer Elite VSX-90 receiver at +2.0 db's (150hz) and had the volume knob (gain) on the side of the sub at "1 o'clock". I took it back to Best Buy to the Magnolia center and the manager swapped it with a new one with no hassle at all and gave me a discount on a new Martin Logan Dynamo 500 10" sub. I'm not taking a chance and I need a little more bass so I'm selling the ProSub 600. Loving the ML 10" so far! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is it is a little "pricey" for me for no more punch than it has (but I'm use to 10's in the trunk) and the finish could be nicer (glossy maybe).. maybe it's just me. Don't get me wrong.. it's a nice sub and much crisper and smoother than the Def Tech 600 or 800. It's a nice smooth clean bass with no rattle. It has as much bass at 1/4 the gain as the Def Tech 600 had at 1/2 to 5/8's gain. I really do like it compared to the other two. I would definitely recommend it for $500 or less! (see pics for size difference of the Def Tech 600 compared to the ML)

I was trying to decide between this and the Bowers and Wilkins 10". Listened to them side by side and this was the clear winner. It sounds great for music and especially action movies and it is $150 cheaper than the Bowers and Wilkins.

The Dynamo 500 has a deep bass that can be adjusted for many situations. Unfortunately, my unit had a electrical problem after 3 years. I purchased the Best Buy gold program, but in order to use it, I would have had to ship my unit back to Martin Logan for repair and fix/replacement. It would be better if Best Buy was on the hook to replace the unit and deal with Martin Logan themselves. Not sure why I bought the gold program if I was to have to deal with this like a normal warranty item. Best Buy did replace the unit for me in store, but then I had to purchase yet another extended warranty on the new item. This doesn't make much sense.

I own a recording studio and a very high end home theater. My theater has a velodyne dd15 subwoofer which cost close to $4000. Im pretty picky about sound and subwoofers in general. A friend asked me to go shopping with him for a new theater recently. After listening to every sub we could find in the under $500 class, this sub really stood out. I found the focals better once we hit the $1k price and the REL and Velodynes really shine as you raise the price, but at $500 this is a best in class sub. Goes deep and hits hard. Not one note bass at all. At $300 this is a stea

Previously had a Firefox junior for about 12 years. Finally stopped working. The Firefox had better sound quality but was also much more expensive. For the money there is nothing wrong with this MartinLogan. Huge sound! I actually have the power turned down a little. Does a good job filtering the frequency ranges. I normally limit the frequency when watching movies .vs. watching/listening music concerts. If you want to rattle the pictures, this will do it!

This sub sounds awesome. I have it in a 18x12 room in the basement running with the Andrew Jones Pioneer towers. Music is really good, movies and video games are great. Im slightly worried by all the reviews that say the product has a high failure rate but hopefully most people who bought it are too busy listening to it to write reviews.

We purchased the Martin Logan speakers and received this as a promotional bonus. While the speakers alone are great, we've played them with and without the subwoofer, and the sound is much better with the woofer. It adds an extra dimension to the music and completes the system.

My Speaker setup are the Martin Logan motion 4 for the surrounds and the motion 6 for the center. I have a pioneer elite receiver and a LG 55 7200 lcd. This sub has completed the awesomeness of the whole setup and sounds amazing. The difference between the bass levels is great. overall worth every penny.

Except for the product, I was very very disappointed by the customer service. I bought a Martin Logan subwoofer (it was not working properly at my house. I knew from the beginning that something was not right. It was defective, but the people at the audio/tv dept didn't offer right away a replacement. The new one worked perfectly. It took about 1 month to get a new one. They messed up with my points and nobody told me the same story everytime I went to the store (too many times). So next time I'm going to order directly from Martin Logan website.

This is a great addition to our home theater system. It's about half the size of our previous sub, but has better output and more accurate sound reproduction. Crank up the sound on your movies and wait for this to rumble! Good value for money on this one.

I got this with the purchase of Motion 40's. I would have chosen one of it's bigger brothers for my large, open floor plan or possibly a 2nd one. Don't let the size fool you because it fills my area with sharp clear bass. My use is 50/50 music/TV and have it adjusted mid-way for very pleasing low levels. My only minor complaint is the finish isn't the same as the 40's, but most hide their subs anyway.
