After a week I returned the 500 and bought the 700. Good sub but they have a much better sub for just a few bucks more.

Had it set up by Geek Squad and 30 min after they left the speaker was blown. After they left turned off Tv and turned it back on 30 min later and loud muffled sound. Took Geek squad 3 trips to actually determine it was blown and get replacement over 3 weeks

I spent over an hour in the Magnolia room listening to various sub woofers. I have two homes and was looking to replace my 20 year old Cambridge Soundworks small sub in our summer house. I have a Definitive sub at our primary home. Definitive has been great but I wanted to see what my alternatives were.
I listened to two Definitives in the $400 to $600 range and compared them to the Energy sub. I was about to stay with Definitive when I noticed the Martin Logan and B&W. I had wanted to stay under $500 but started comparing the Martin and B&W to the Definitive.
I immediately noticed an incredible difference when these two were compared to the Definitive. The Martin was so clearly cleaner and crisper. The B&W was more booming at first. However, we spend a few minutes balancing the volumes of the two units and they became very close in sound. The Definitive quickly dropped off my list.
I went with the Martin Logan as I just felt it was so clean and crisp compared to the others and it was $150 less than the B&W. The B&W would have been great too but I am very happy with my choice.
Installed in my house I immediately notice a nice clean full sound that fills the room with warmth. It has greatly enhanced my very old Yamaha bookshelf speakers to the point where I don't feel a need to replace them.
I am a musician so I favor music listening when evaluating speakers. Avoiding listener fatigue is critical for me and this sub does that. But it did a great job with the surround sound while watching The Dark Night Rises on Blue Ray.
I highly recommend this product for the price
