The finish on these bookshelves is legit. Quality sound as expected from ML, tight and fast bass, FMT tweeter really is quite wonderful. I will say however due to the overpriced ML XT C100 center, if you're going for home theater you're better off checking out the new SVS Ultra Evolution. Your wallet will thank you.

I felt these speakers are beautiful and well made. I really liked the look and preferred the gloss black..just know that it will show fingerprints and must be wiped down if that sort of thing bothers you. First off the tweeter is pretty sweet. Even at high volumes I was never able to make it lose its composure. Detail and high frequency extension is all there with this speaker. I tried these with an AVR, a tube amp, and 3 different solid state. Eventually I settled on an Elac Alchemy, which is a Class D and is capable of 325watts x2 into the B100's 4ohm impedance. Feeding the Logans with a nice clean signal and the B100's can sound very nice with a sense of refinement due to their looks and extension of the tweeter.. but for me I felt the overall experience was lacking a little something in the mid to lower bass frequency range. Paired with a SVSpro subwoofer definitely helped but wasn't enough to make me completely happy. Very nice speakers but i think I would prefer the fuller range of the new Martin Logan floor standing speakers. I'm currently using the Polk R200 and Wharfedale Linton's. Both of these lack the finesse and refinement of the B100's AMT tweeter..but better the Logans in other areas in my opinion. I will be returning the B100's but have nothing bad to say about them, it is just personal preferences. Beautiful speaker though

Great midrange clarity. Build quality is excellent... these are solid! It was between these and the Bowers and Wilkins 706 s2/3. I enjoyed the sound of these compared to those (and a few others). Love the new design and the tweeters on the new motion xt series. Using a Denon dra-800h for a 2.1 set up and very pleased so far!

    The Bookshelf Speaker to Beat!

The new Martin Logan Motion XT B100, Bookshelf speakers are the absolute bookshelf speakers to beat. If you are looking for a performing speaker without sacrificing space (or have minimal space, to begin with), these are the bookshelf speakers to grab. The B100s feature a new, Gen2 Folded Motion XT Tweeter and Nomax-reinforced Kevlar woofer. Setup: I disconnected my Motion XT F100 speakers and directly connected each B100 speaker via banana plugs. Please note I did not bi-wire or bi-amp these speakers. However, the B100s are plugged into an external amplifier for further amplification. Since the B100s are rated at a 4ohm impedance, it is recommended (not required) to connect them to an external amplifier to get the best performance. I towed them in slightly (towards my listening position), and I setup my Marantz receiver to test them via 2-channel listening in stereo mode. Additionally, after I exited 2-channel listening, I reconfigured my Marantz receiver and exited 2-channel listening mode. Then, I changed my settings back for my personal use. Sound Test: For the first test, I listened to Boston's self-titled record. I could not believe how clear the vocals were, but how good the range was for this specific setup. With a 1.25" x 2.4" Obsidian folded Motion XT tweeter, the waveguide profile delivered crisp sound at multiple seating positions (I was also approximately nine feet away). The bass was precise yet punchy enough to where it did not drown out the vocals, thanks to the Nomex-Reinforced Kevlar Mod-bass. Next, I changed my settings back and removed the 2-channel listening mode. Then, I reverted to my original settings for film and music via the Marantz receiver. I tested one film in particular (Dune), which features heavy dialogue and enough action sequences to distinguish between vocals and effects. I was pleasantly surprised by how clear the dialogue was in various scenes of conversation, but when the film's peak in vocals-to-action took place, the B100s performed exceptionally, without loss of clarity. My findings were that vocals were not drowned out by the action sequences/effects; the B100s were able to distinguish between both, even at high volumes (I listened comfortably at -20 DB and -15 DB). Overall, the Martin Logan Motion XT B100 Bookshelf Speakers are the best bookshelf speakers I have heard. They are elegant yet designed to provide the user with various ways of listening, from music to films. I would recommend the B100s for anyone who wants to upgrade their current setup, whether someone who lacks space or wants to upgrade in place of floor speakers. The B100s are sure to impress.

I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to review the new Motion XT series speakers from MartinLogan. I am a long time MartinLogan fan as well as a technophile/cinephile/audiophile type person. The equipment I used with these speakers are as follows: Denon AVR-X4700H (using 8ohms impedance setting due to 4ohms being more of marketing gimmick on this receiver than a true, stable 4ohms power delivery - those wanting true 4ohms should look for a dedicated amp that can handle 4ohms properly, never use a receiver for this setting despite advertisements saying otherwise) iPhone 14 Pro using Thunderbolt to USB to DragonFly DAC (for 96kHz 'lossless') In full production use at my house, I have these paired with the rest of the MartinLogan Motion series and using these as my rear surround speakers. I'll start off by describing my experience with these in this setup, as I am sure a lot of you will be doing as well. I always like to match my surround speakers with equal quality to deliver an appropriate sound stage. Using anything less could result in improper balance. Despite not being overly used during a movie, these speakers carried the affects brilliantly. Anything that came from the rear was easily distinguished through the booming, and/or other surround effects coming from the other speakers. Nothing was lost. Sounds were exceptionally accurate and clear. I also have these mounted on the wall with a slight downward direction towards the viewer. I witness 0 vibration or distortion despite these being on a stand. The construction of these speakers are of the highest quality I have ever seen from any speaker manufacture. The sounds delivered is free of any distortion or vibration from the cabinet or speaker covers. The speaker covers are easily removable should you be able to tell they are impeding the sound, or, if you simply prefer the look of the exposed cones. The horn tweeter, while normally a show stopper for me as they tend to produce a harsher sound than I like, was excellent at producing both sharp, crisp highs but also added a softness to the majority of higher pitches to not feel overly sharp or offensive to the ears. It was very natural and pleasant. I think MartinLogan has knocked it out of the park with this specific feature. These speakers also have a rear woofer so keeping distance from the wall is important. With mine angled, I was able to get the suggested 24" from the wall with my left surround but was about 15" on the other. I did not find this to be a problem in my specific room, where sound typically does not reverberate much at all. Moving to place these in a 2 channel configuration for music, as I am sure there are those out there looking to place these as standard bookshelf's for all use cases. Playing music through my receiver using AirPlay 2 (48kHz CD quality) was phenomenally clear and precise. I could hear details in the music down to fingerprints sliding on the fret of a guitar to the tiny back ground effects in more electronic based tunes, to the sharpness of horns and other percussion instruments in classical, ska, etc. Switching over to my DAC to get even higher quality audio was apparent by volume only. I could not tell a detailed difference between CD quality and the 96kHz "lossless" from Apple's digital master albums. I find this to be true with anything I've attempted to discern from "lossless" music, headphones, highly amped setups, etc. I simply do not hear it. Volume wise though, there is a touch more clarity and volume that comes from the higher bitrate at the same volume as the CD quality tracks, so that was noticeable here as well. While not being as large as floor standing speakers, the volume output, depth, clarity and overall experience rivals that of much, much larger speakers. In most rooms, these will do the listener right and would make any artist proud to have their products reproduced with these. In conclusion, MartinLogan has done an exceptional job with these bookshelf speakers. At this price point, you will be hard pressed to find a better pair out there. You likely will be hard pressed to find a better set of bookshelf speakers period. These are a truly masterful line of speakers, and MartinLogan has brought their A game to the table. These are an absolute must have for any home theatre, or, bookshelf setup. Thanks to MartinLogan for providing such a stellar experience. I will be raving about these for quite some time.

Had these for a few months now. They are very solidly built bookshelf speakers. I have placed them on the matching stands. Look really nice together. More importantly, the sound is very engaging, clear and dynamic. My first experience with an AMT style tweeter. Some may find it a bit sharp, but I do enjoy the very pinpoint and crisp detailed imaging. Bass is decent down to about 50hz in room, but I have it paired with dual SVS SB-1000 Pros and it is magical in 2-channel stereo and thunderous and clear in home theater applications. Couldn't be happier at the price.

finally graduated from a soundbar setup and ended up with these bad boys. was looking between some KEFs, B&Ws, and these guys. after getting some demos done for me at my local best buy the Martin Logans sounded the best to me. highs, mids and lows all sound level and these speakers fill any room masterfully. these are the best there is in my opinion. the gloss finish on the black colorway is a huge plus as well

Great imaging and sound stage. Brighter than soft so aluminum teeters but not harsh. A good sub can bring out the bottom octave. Enjoyable even at low listening levels. Highly recommended.

Not sure how I must have got the bottom of the barrel. While listening to YouTube music Heart the quitars are fabulous then she starts singing and right away something is wrong. Her vocals are flat with no energy. The male voices didn’t sound natural either. Maybe if I bought these coming from a tv speaker setup would have passed ok. Currently, Jbl 100 bought new in 1978, kef q150, Elac bookshelf, -10insubs, 15” sub, real class “A” amp driving these speakers thru a Yamaha a8a. I mention all this in case you where thinking oh it’s just me, or I had cheap equipment.

The right size and sound quality for my studio!

I have a small studio, around 15x15, it only has a sofa and a small desk that I use like an office or just for reading. Sometimes I carry with me a bluetooth speaker, when I am in the mood just to close the door to read or relax. But the BT speaker does not have the sound quality you are expecting, I have to place the speaker really close, and even so I don’t feel satisfied, or sometimes feel frustrated. But I have a Yamaha Amplifier in my living room, that has the option to either select a set of A or B speakers which is next to my studio. And having this set of Martin Logan Bookshelf Speakers, I ran the wire from my Yamaha Amp, to my studio and connect them. This way I was able to get the most from them. The size and the finish are outstanding. Mines are Glossy Black. It also comes with a black cloth bag to protect them, this is a nice and useful detail, very clever. Knowing the high-quality sound that these speakers are capable to deliver, in this small area, they didn't disappoint, they sounded wonderful. The tweeters deliver crispy and crystal-clear sound, and the bass is very well balanced. These small fellas are rated 125watts rms at 5 ohms with a frequency range from 45hz to 25khz, bass reflex, they are very powerful, but my main goal was to test quality more than power. They definitely are the perfect companion for small area. No distortion, no vibration, the solid enclosure reassures a great bass reflex, with crisp highs and deep bass. I played my classical music, as well as some Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Carpenters, Engelbert Humperdinck, and all these wonderful voices sounded so clear and well defined. To be honest, I have never seen so much high quality for a set of bookshelf speakers. But that is what Martin Logan does, only high-quality equipment. My studio sounds and looks elegant with this set, and I finally have the pleasure to listening my music as it supposed to be.

If looks for speakers accounted for how they sound these speakers would get a perfect score but lucky for us the audio from these is pretty close to that. These bookshelf speakers pack a punch despite their size they definitely give other companies tower speakers a run for their money. I started off using these as rear speakers for my system and they were amazing they added some much depth and detail to the movies I was watching but I really wanted to test them out. I moved to the front and used them to test out some movie scenes and for music and was blown away these can hold their own and sound amazing. Their was so much clarity and separation of sounds it was amazing how much detail I could pick up and their bass extension was pretty good. If these were your mains for a theater system I would probably still recommend a subwoofer but they have enough bass that as a stereo system they would still be great. I don’t that I could get the same performance from other speakers as I’m getting from these speakers. I couldn’t recommend them more and if you can spring for the whole Martin Logan set I would as your system would just be the best.

First off these speakers are amazing looking. I love the matte black look on all my devices, and the Martin Logan XTB100GB Bookshelf speakers are no exception. Solidly built with performance to match. In the box you get the speaker grills, bumpers, and a quick start guide. But of course the main course here is all about the sound and Ive never heard better. Ive had my share of audiophile type speakers and nothing even comes close to the Martin Logans. My go to for testing music audio is a song that tests all of the sound range. And its hard to explain in words what you hear by ear, but I can best explain it as perfect audio. The full range of sound that comes through is purely breathtaking. And of course theres movies too and its the same experience here as well. Perfectly balanced and accurate audio. Rewatching some movies that are my favorites I was hearing sounds and dialogue that I didnt know was so prominent. No more having bass or other sounds drowned out highs. The tweeters made it easy to hear what you are suppose to hear as it was designed to be heard. The directional audio works so well that I caught myself more than once looking away from the screen. To sum it all up all I can say is that I know why they have the reputation for amazing audio that they do. They deserve it. The sounds are perfect. You can crank up the volume as high as you want and never hear any distortion at all. Just clear crisp sound. Amazing!
