The Masimo Stork Vitals+ is a great device for parents who want to keep an eye on their baby's health and a figurative ‘eye’ on their babies as well with the included camera and boot to measure vitals. It is easy to use and provides seemingly accurate readings of heart rate, oxygen saturation, and temp. This will be a tremendous help during sick season which always puts my wife and I in pure anxiety mode. The device also has a built-in alarm that will sound if there is a problem with your baby's vital signs or if there’s an issue with the hardware. It comes with literally everything you’d need minus the tools to get it set up and installed in your home.
I have been using the Masimo Stork Vitals+ for my 13-month-old daughter and in a vacuum, I’d be very happy with it, but unfortunately for me it had a lot of shortcomings that was more hassle than convenient. It’s far from a bad device, but there were some design choices that I don’t think I can get past and I don’t think I personally can overlook. Both the devices and the apps are very easy to use and set up and the baby readings are seemingly trust worthy. I also like that the device has a built-in alarm, so I can be sure that I will be alerted if there is a problem with my daughter’s health. But for me the alarm went off when I didn’t think it needed to.
However it’s not all perfect, nothing is and this is no exception. Here’s some of my pros and cons to summarize my experience. I’ll go into more details after for those that are curious.
Pros:
*Easy to use and setup, but can be time consuming if there’s issues
*First boot essentially had a lot of firmwares to update
*Appears to be accurate for vitals
*Built-in alarm
*Comes with EVERYTHING in the box (which is huge)
*Except the Stork Hub (but this is an assumption that it’ll fix the issue below)
*No subscriptions - Nothing behind a paywall either
*Fast charging of boot
*Very good camera picture in terms of resolution
Cons:
*Very inaccurate for ambient temps
*App is difficult to find in both Google Play and Apple App Store
*Seriously, Masimo! Please add a QR code to the app!
*PRO TIP: search “Masimo Stork” and you’ll find it quickly!
*Weird camera aspect ratio
*Standard wide would have been a better choice and there doesn’t seem to be a way to change it
*For my crib, it has a built-in wall on one side of the crib and one side is higher than the other which causes night mode to be challenging for the camera. Darker crib area but very bright ledge of the crib
*My unit did not have good cable management tape.
*Sensor seems to be bluetooth only - Kept telling me it was offline whenever I walked away from the camera with my phone.
*I’m assuming this is where the Stork Hub comes into play
If you’re thinking of setting this up right before bed… don’t do it. I highly recommend giving yourself more time than a bath duration to complete the setup. My wife and I started a routine with the little one and she’s (my wife) very particular about it. I thought, “cool I’ll set it up during her bath and be ready before she’s ready to start sleeping”. That wasn’t the case at all for me.
First I could not get the cable management covers to stick to my wall. I don’t know what it was, but I ended up using my own double-sided tape to get it stuck. It was a pain in the neck. I then was not able to find the app on the App Store at all using “Stork”, “Stork+”, “Masimo”, “Stork Vitals”, etc. and unfortunately the manuals in the box and the box itself didn’t have any QR code to scan to get to the app quickly. Eventually I searched “Masimo Stork” and found it. Luckily for you Android users out there, you’ll find it a lot easier using any of the above words except simply “Stork”. I think “Stork” is just too broad and ultimately ended up being too hard to find the app with just “Stork”. My work phone, the S23 Ultra, came in handy here.
My time sensitive problems continued when I wasn’t able to get the camera to connect to my WiFi for some reason. Not sure what the issue was there, but it kept prompting me to get closer to the camera when I would attempt to retry the connection. I basically had to have my phone a couple of inches from the camera rather than a few feet to get it to connect. Once it connected there was a massive firmware update that had to be completed! The camera probably took 10 minutes to complete on its own.
Luckily the boot didn’t have these issues. It connected to WiFi right away and the firmware update was significantly quicker. The problem was the battery and unfortunately the boot had to be charged prior to first use. So day one was a bust. But it went from 50% to 100% in like 30 or so minutes! So it’s a very fast charge!
The app! It’s honestly a good app on both iOS and Android. It’s easy to navigate, decent looking design and the learning curve is extremely low. There’s also a lot of animated tutorials that I found extremely helpful.
The issues I had weren’t deal breakers, but I really didn’t like the camera aspect ratio. Where I had placed the camera, it cut off the left and right side of the crib because it’s not a wide screen; 16:9 aspect ratio. So I have to move the camera up which is a bummer due to the fact I already added two new holes to the wall. Not a big deal granted, but still a thing that could be fixed if the aspect ratio was just wider. On the plus side the camera picture is awesome! It’s a very clear image despite having the image blown out a bit at night due to my unusual crib. My crib has one side of the crib as a wall which is higher than the rest of the crib which happens to be closer to the camera which then makes it brighter than the crib itself.
The boot itself is great. Extremely well designed and super easy to put on and take off and my daughter didn’t hate it being on her foot. I like how snug it fits and how easy it is to clean! The problem I have with it though is it appears to only work when your phone is close to the camera or boot itself. This is very inconvenient unless your baby is in the same room as you which ours isn’t at this point in her life. But we were able to get an iPad to put next to her room, and act as a ‘hub’ so to speak and send data to the app that our phones could read. I’m assuming that this is what the Stork Hub is for. Too bad this kit didn’t come with the hub in the box and from what I can tell, it’s not sold separately.
Lastly I assumed this was a ‘baby monitor’ as in it’ll alert you when your baby cries, it’ll do something to let you know the baby is moving, etc. But when I realized this wasn’t what it was designed for, my negativity changed. It’s essentially a fitness band for a baby so to speak. It’s not designed to be your baby monitor per se, but to help you monitor your baby. Think Garmin sport watch vs an Apple Watch. One is more focused on health, while the other is more focused on sport. There’s some crossover, sure, but the product's focus differs between the two. That’s what this product is. It’s not a nanny, but more of a medical assistant keeping an eye on your baby's health. Which I do appreciate.
Ultimately I give this product a 4 out of 5 stars mainly because what it’s trying to do is measure your baby's health. It does it well, just wish it made it more convenient for us parents.

My partner and I have been looking for a baby monitor that not only provides us with real-time information about our baby's well-being but also offers convenience and ease of use. The Stork Vitals + Baby Monitor is that option, and it has exceeded our expectations in every way.
The Stork Vitals + Baby Monitor boot is sleek and modern in design that comes in two sizes that allows your baby to keep using as they grow. The build quality is exceptional, feeling sturdy and durable, but also very soft on the skin and my daughter has had no issues with wearing the boot.
Setting up the Stork Vitals + Baby Monitor is easy but I recommend charging the boot sensor before trying to pair it and update it in the app. Just follow the steps in the app for connecting the boot and the camera and it will connect effortlessly to the home Wi-Fi network. I did run into some connection issues early on when updating it, but those went away after the update. The Stork companion app is very user-friendly, with an intuitive interface for seeing the camera and then all the data . The boot monitor is where the Stork Vitals + truly shines. The boot sensor provides real-time data on our daughter’s vital signs, including heart rate, oxygen saturation, and room temperature. This has been a blessing since our child has been sick recently and having this data helped us in showing our Doctor the temperature fluctuations our daughter had throughout the week. The accuracy of the readings has impressed us, and it provides us a peace of mind during those anxious nights. One of the standout features of this baby monitor is its alert system. It immediately notifies us if any of the vital signs fall outside the preset safe ranges. This proactive approach has helped us respond quickly to any issues and has been huge for monitoring her while she’s been sick. The Stork Vitals + offers clear, 2K video streaming with night vision which in my opinion is much better than our old monitor, and having it right on my phone is a lot more convenient than carrying around the old monitor when around the house. The quality of both video and audio is exceptional. The Stork Vitals + Baby Monitor also includes features like lullabies and white noise, which are helpful for soothing our daughter to sleep and it is one less thing we need to worry about when traveling.
In summary, the Stork Vitals + Baby Monitor has truly been a game-changer for us. Its real-time monitoring, reliable alerts, and exceptional video and audio quality have given us the peace of mind we needed. We highly recommend the Stork Vitals + Baby Monitor to any parents looking for a top-tier baby monitoring solution.

The Masimo Baby Monitor just might be a new parents answer to having a solid piece of equipment made by a reputable company. It can track a newborns vitals to include temperature, heart rate, oxygen saturation and ambient temperature of the baby’s room. Masimo is a brand that hospitals have used and trusted for many years. My wife is a Labor and Delivery Nurse and this is the very brand that is used in their newborn nursery for monitoring vital signs. When she saw this being offered she had me get it for our new grand baby. Actually, funny thing is she didn’t pay attention to what brand it was and told her daughter to not let the monitor tracking all the time as it would give her anxiety. She changed her tune once she realized what company made the monitor. She feels confident with any mom using and relying on the data the monitor tracks.
This model includes the Stork Camera, 2 different size boots and you download the App for tracking the data. Since it has 2 sizes of boot, this allows the monitor to be used during the growth of your baby. The sensor is easily installed and removed from the boot. The straps are soft, thick and durable. The straps are also removable for easy cleaning of boot and straps. It states that is holds a charge for 16 hours and recharges in 2 hours. This has been confirmed in our experience so far.
The Stork App stores the baby’s data and live video feed. It saves the data and any events. You can also share and give your family access with the App. It does let you control what data they can view.
The camera is high resolution and allows use day or night. The lens tilts to get view from different positions. It has two way audio so you can hear and talk to baby!! You can also zoom in and out for different views.
I can see this being a great gift for any new parent, especially given the fact of the trusted Masimo name. Just bare in mind that it is first generation new monitor and like most first generations products there are probably some kinks that need to be worked out and hopefully will be included with any software updates. My wife has no doubt they will do their best to make it a solid, trusted baby monitor.

My niece could not wait for her due date and bounced into this world three months early. She is now home with us after a prolonged stay at a top-rated hospital. Looking to manage her needs better, we evaluated various monitoring devices in line with the NICU equipment. The Masimo Stork Vital + was on the list of devices we considered. Masimo has been building sensors for NICUs, and most hospitals use their monitoring systems to keep your child safe. The hospital she was at used Masimo sensors.
What's in the box:
There are two big boxes in the packaging. Box 1 contains the camera, the power brick and USB C cable, the wiring track, wall mounts and screws for the wall mounts, and a door hang. Box 2 contains the boot sensor, two different-sized boots to fit your infant's foot, two velcro straps, and a wire hang loom. Some basic setup and operation manuals are included in the box.
Setup:
The Stork app — Let's just say it's not an easy app to find. I am glad Masimo provides an image of what their app looks like, but the play and app stores are riddled with “stork” apps, and therefore, I’d suggest Masimo provide a QR code that redirects to the official app in their product manuals.
The signup is relatively simple: Provide your baby’s name, date of birth, and metrics, like weight and length. There is a rather lengthy disclaimer page, which I would suggest if you are concerned with your child's biometric data, read it in its entirety. It took me 30 minutes to read.
Given that there is a boot and a camera, the initial setup should be done on the camera. The boot talks to the camera, and without the camera being set up, the boot quickly loses bluetooth connection with your phone. The boot and camera work together, and the camera acts as a Hub.
Once you have paired your camera via bluetooth, it will ask you to pair it to Wi-Fi. If you run a linked SSID or a mesh Wi-Fi network, temporarily disable the linked 5 GHz frequency to allow setup. The firmware update takes 20-30 minutes to update the camera, and you cannot leave the application. The boot sensor is set up similarly to the camera. Once you have charged the boot and taken it off the charger, it will start flashing green and is ready to be paired. The pairing process is relatively simple through the app. Like the camera, the sensor requires a firmware update.
The app is relatively simple and is used for setting up and managing the sensors. The app only allows one person registered to control the sensors. The parent's account allows one set of devices, and only two phones can connect to the account. The solution is the caregiver option, which gives you more users, but it's not complete control of the account like the parent account.
The caregiver portal is functional and well thought out; it allows one to share the vital data feed and provides parents enough control over how much data they share with their caregivers. This requires the caregiver to download the app and sign into it as a caregiver with their email after the parents have assigned it.
The app continuously logs and can show your previous history of the sensors, specifically the boot sensor. Due to the continuous logging and reporting, the app, which requires background running, will eat your battery life. The background running is a valuable feature, as it told us relatively early on that the child was kicking and the sensor was no longer connected to her feet and needed some attention.
Capabilities & Features:
The sensor on the boot provides the following information: Blood Oxygen, Heart Rate, and Body Temperature—all essential items to understand how your baby is doing. The boot sensor also has a ‘baby facing down’ alert should the baby roll on its stomach. The camera, which acts as a hub for the boot, provides room temperature and relative humidity. This information is uploaded and displayed within the camera window, and one can look at the live data and historical data collected by the sensors.
There are some excellent advanced features that I appreciate. The app provides a vertical video feed, not horizontal, and is perfect for a phone; this limits some of your camera placement. The sensor on the camera best works when pointed at the baby, and therefore, it's interesting that the portrait view of the camera feed shows you only your baby and nothing more. The camera is a 2-way that works from anywhere. You can listen and talk to the baby if your phone has internet. The camera also can play children's songs to soothe your baby to sleep. The fidelity of the audio is much to be desired; it's very tinny but should work for a baby. The Camera also has decent night vision, but it prefers night vision, and with that, the video quality drops quite a bit.
Conclusion:
So, there are two ways of looking at this. Go about it blind, without the data, as we have done for decades, or use the modern metrics provided by stellar sensors to give you up-to-the-moment data for your precious bundle of joy. There is a massive benefit to this technology. We can watch the baby from anywhere in the house and address her needs immediately without worrying about constantly checking the cameras. The sensor data is accurate, enabling you to make quick decisions about your child when the app sends an alert. In the time we have had it, the product has only improved with firmware updates and technical support from Masimo. We may have a very fussy baby, but that is no fault of the product.
It is a must-have for new parents who want to serve their baby's needs better. Every parent and would-be parent should have one of these on their baby shower wish list.

Saved my boys life detecting RSV early!

I want to start with a story on how this machine saved my babies life and focus on vitals taken like oxygen saturation and body temp. This is because while in my first few days using this (and what are the chances of this actually happening??) I was getting a low reading from my 6 month old boy and I thought I had configured the boot wrong somehow or something so I contacted the company who was readily able to help me. I ended up using the larger boot and tried on my 2 year old (lol) to test and got normal readings. This prompted me to bring my 6 month old into the doctor where he ended up being admitted to the hospital and then being diagnosed with RSV!…. Now this was at the very start of things and I swear if I wasn’t using this I wouldn’t have actually known he began a temp and was having troubles until probably 2-3 days later which is insane and the fact that this happened right after beginning to use this piece of equipment and the luck I had someone is looking out for us! Im actually still at the hospital with my boy (picture attached) but he is being taken off oxygen shortly and discharged today finally after he had to have his lungs vacuum suctioned to prevent build up for 12 days but again KNOWING this machine and the way it helped us I can only say if I didn’t have it he might not be with us right now. It was seriously grueling for us to endure and catching this early saved us all.
Moving on from that insanity ill add that the real the one thing we all think as parents when you have a new baby is a fear of SIDS at one point or another. Now me personally I have 6 kids and this device has been the FIRST time I can breath easier. Having many kids we are quick to blow some things off as normal but at least with this you know for SURE that things are good because with the vitals you get from the boot along with the app and camera you are absolutely covered and have raw data to support this.
As parents costs add up and when you first see the sticker shock on a system like this you may think you can be fine with setting up a cheap camera and or checking frequently like I did in the past. I tend to be a cheapskate when it comes to certain things but the one thing that you never should is your kids and their well being. Thats why when using this stork vitals +I cant praise enough being able to check OXYGEN SATURATION and everything how huge this is and has been. Battery life is well over 12 hours on the boot, the app has been amazing to use, everything is setup literally perfectly to monitor your baby. Please do your babies a solid and buy and use this thing you will not regret!

Fair warning, this isn't going to be a short review because as a parent of 3 with a 4th on the way, I know how important peace of mind and being able to check on your little ones is for any parent, especially for infants and newborns. I'm also very fortunate to have used multiple competing products over the years so I have quite a bit of experience with the various smart/cloud connected cameras and health monitors on the market. I'll be comparing against the Nanit Camera system as well as the Owlet Camera and Smart Sock combo.
Masimo is a well-known leader with bona fides in the pediatric health equipment industry. I've seen their products in hospital L&D units so you know the technology and accuracy of their devices is sound. That professional grade quality is evident in the Stork system hardware. Here are some highlights and commentary broken down by Camera, Sock, and App/general.
**Camera**
- The Camera is is heavy, extremely well-built and feels amazing when making adjustments, up and down, left and right. You will want to make sure to put the camera out of reach of your child high enough so that they can't reach it as they get older. You're also going to want to put this into studs if possible, with how heavy the camera is, I'm not sure I would even use the provided anchors because if it fell on your child, it will definitely leave a mark.
All the cables are extremely heavy duty and soft silicone coated and anti-kink with USB-C on both ends that plug into nicely shaped 90 degree wall warts. The wall warts are a very nice touch for plugging in behind a crib as you can push the crib flush to the wall without damaging the cable or putting undue pressure on it (like with the Nanit).
The conduit for the camera cable is smaller and lower profile than the Nanit, but also has less adhesive material. Over time this can be an issue especially as your child gets older and starts playing with things around their crib and start pulling the conduit away from the wall. I had this issue with the Nanit on my 2nd and 3rd babies.
I have a number of complaints about the Stork Camera, some may be addressed with firmware updates, others are more serious. The picture is grainy and low-res. They claim 2K resolution, but it is considerably worse than the Nanit in both light and dark which is only 1080p. Another major issue is the Stork camera seems really zoomed in, rather than a wide-angle birds eye view like the Nanit. This is a MAJOR issue because you can't even get the whole crib in frame unless you mount the camera at the head of the crib. We like to have the side of the crib to the wall and the camera mounted on the wall, but that ends up cutting off the top and bottom of the crib out of frame. I did not see a way to change the orientation of the camera so that it is a wide (landscape) view instead of a tall (portrait) view of the crib.
Another issue was the camera almost always showed as disconnected when first opening the app, like the camera fell asleep and takes 5-10s to wake back up and connect with the app. There is also some latency, which is slightly worse than the Nanit and similar to the Owlet.
Also, at times even after the Camera woke up, I would just get a black screen and hear audio. I did not see a way to reset or power cycle the camera remotely, which is a hugely annoying since the top is mounted to the wall and the plug is down behind the crib. I feel both of these can and will be addressed in a firmware update, but right now they are worth noting as issues.
**SOCK**
-The sock is more like a boot and made of a semi-rigid silicone material, almost like a soft cast that has the smart monitor as an insert that can be removed and charged. Two "boot" sizes are included, newborn and up to 12 months. Our youngest is right at 12 months but on the bigger side, so she was definitely pushing it. She'll need the 18 month boot to fit comfortably, but honestly we only use these boots for the first 6-8 months for peace of mind for SIDS and because my wife likes to co-sleep with our babies (I know, not recommended....).
Our youngest is old enough to voice her very loud opinion and she immediately protested the boot. It didn't look very comfortable and would probably have problems fitting in a romper with closed feet, so that is something to keep in mind. The Owlet sock on the other hand is fully made of a felt-like material and fits like a glove and our babies never complained about wearing it. We never did use the Nanit sleep sacks, and we didn't think that tech was as reliable for breathing as the pulse-oxy sensors on the socks, so we ended up using both the Nanit camera and Owlet sock.
The Stork sock also uses the camera as its Wi-Fi hub which is important to keep in mind, especially if you mount the camera in a separate nursery but keep your baby in a bedside Halo or similar for feeding and naps. You MUST be close enough to the camera or the sock will not work. The owlet on the other hand has its own base charging station that also serves as the Wi-Fi Access point, and this can be placed anywhere independent of where you mount a baby cam.
Finally, the sock sensor for some crazy reason, cannot be charged while it is inserted in the boot. You have to physically remove it, which is not super hard to do, but still takes time. There is also already a cutout on the bottom of the boot that makes part of the sensor piece accessible, but the actual charging contacts are still not accessible. No idea why they chose to do this, but its just frustrating. The Owlet on the other hand, you can put the entire sock with the charging sensor piece right on the charging base and you're done.
One major plus of the Stork sock/sensor however is the battery life. It is very impressive and can last a full 24 hours or so, which is great because with the Owlet, we had to make sure to charge it after an overnight sleep or it usually didn't have enough charge to cover a nap. With the Stork, you can just charge it before or after nap time and it should be good to go for another 24 hour span. Great flexibility there.
**App/General**
The App itself is nice to look at and I like how the sock vitals are visible by just swiping up a small panel. It also chimes if it can't read the sock vitals, or if the battery is running low. My only main issues with the app and the system in general is that everything feels a little bit sluggish in terms of coming online from some kind of device sleep/low power state. I don't have this issue with the Nanit or the Owlet cameras. While this can probably be fixed via firmware update, right now it makes the system borderline unusable in my opinion.
I also had some issues getting the camera to pair and again, there was no good way to just delete the device from the app itself to go through pairing again. I had to go to the Bluetooth settings to forget the device, then add it again. This is on iOS with an iPhone 12 Pro. Also as mentioned, there is no way to reset or power cycle the camera from the App that I was able to see.
One pro I did notice is that it doesn't seem like there is a subscription fee for the Stork camera. Nanit does have a small annual subscription around $60 but to me that's money well spent because it is a great cloud camera that is snappy, much clearer quality and allowed me to monitor my babies from work (pre-Covid) and now that I'm back in the office more. Without an update to the Stork to make the camera better quality and more responsive and instantaneous, I don't think I would use it even if it meant paying $60 for the Nanit.
They all have some history and telemetry tracking as well as feedback on how restful your baby is sleeping, which are great features.
**SUMMARY**
So yes, that's a lot to digest but I've had a few days to really use and think about what's important to me from these baby cam and vital monitoring systems. Do I think Masimo will improve on the Stork? Absolutely! Do I think most of these issues should've been diagnosed with some focus groups and comparisons against the existing competition? Absolutely! Even if they addressed most of these issues, I'd say there's still reasons to go with the competitor products because at their best, I still don't think I would consider this system as better than the competition outside of build quality and maybe App parity.
I would rank the 3 systems as follows:
Camera: 1. Nanit 2. Owlet 3. Stork
Sock: 1. Owlet 2. Stork 3. Nanit (N/A)
Overall: Nanit for Camera, Owlet for Sock
App: they're all very good and pleasant to use with app tracking for history.
Hope that helps all you parents and parents to-be come to an informed decision and please remember, these are SMART devices that can be updated via firmware, so there's a VERY good chance Masimo updates their product and improves it, which invalidates a lot of my criticisms. I'm hoping that happens actually, because in the end everyone wins, especially the parents and the babies!

Great app for babies, hardware needs some work

I am glad there are more advanced monitors that actually measure the child’s vitals—not just one that sees if they are breathing. This is a good start for a product, it just needs improvements.
Given the roadblocks, I give this a 3 star, but looking at it's potential, it can hit 4 stars. The vitals boot is the best part of this—and the software is intuitive seeing not just straight real-time vitals but matched with actual trends and logs—but the camera hardware and the connectivity needs a lot of work. Let me break this down.
Hardware: The boot was easy to set up. The app will pretty much guide you. As an android user, the app comes out in google play as “masimo stork” and it does not come up in the search if I type in just “stork” --it was not an instant app find. But once the app is installed and the profiles are set up, the app helped me set up the hardware. The boot was pretty easy to connect—I charged it and connected the device onto the boot easily. There was some back and forths with the sizing of the strap. And to you parents, this is very important--- make sure the at the correct-sized straps are installed. It was hard enough to get the baby to cooperate putting the boot on, all the more having to do it a number of times to get the right fit. I had to learn it the hard way—My first night was rough because the boot sizing was not right, so I kept getting notifications “sensor off baby”. After getting the boot straps right, as seen in the manual, I maybe had 4 “sensor off baby” notifications in my week of use, one of those times was when the baby was being fed and he had a somehow positioned his foot that it was not registering as on. When it was working, it is great to see oxygen levels and BPM, as well as the temperature. We had one night that we thought the baby was running hot to the touch, but vitals tells us 97 degrees so we’re good. (We did measure him separately with a thermometer and it was just off by 0.3 degrees F). This would come in handy especially when the baby starts teething—to measure any spikes in temperature.
The camera BUILD is great. The design looks good and the accessories to install it were well-thought out. The wires are long enough to run up the wall and there are wall covers for the wire too. The speakers are great too—for something this compact, the sound that comes out is pretty clear. However, the camera output quality is not great at all, which is a little frustrating for a camera in 2023. There are much better cameras out there. I thought at first it was only a setting that I can switch in the app- but no. It really is like that. The night vision is good—you can see in the dark but it does have some difficulty switching to regular mode—light was already on and most of the time, the video output stayed on night vision. It does measure humidity and temp which is good—but camera quality-wise, I am 100% sure, they can do much better.
Hardware connectivity is also concern. Multiple times, the sensor will go offline even if the baby was not moving. Connection will be interrupted and the camera or the boot will show that the device is offline. I have over 500Mbps internet and have a reliable mesh router system.
However, given all the device challenges, the software is really good. It actually I think is the great part of this whole thing. You can share the monitoring of the baby with trusted people, you can also see other kids that are shared with you using the same app, trigger the camera audio through the app (with a good selection of tunes!) and even talk to the baby through the camera using the app. Coupled with the vitals boot, the app is great in keeping track of the baby. Even the notifications are good because it will really wake you up if the sensor is off or devices are not connected. The bad part about this is, since the hardware loses connection, I will hear my phone beeping or the camera beeping at night. Everyone knows how hard it is to keep a fussy baby to sleep. At those times, the notifications were more of a nuisance. But there is one super big thing that amazed me though-- I had a notification about the baby being face down! He was actually being breast-fed at that time and was on his mom's tummy, but still-- that was good.
I really think this has the potential to be big but it just needs a lot of polishing. Now, it is all about hardware concerns and if they can only be corrected, this can be a good system to have for the baby. Hopefully there can be device firmware updates? I am hopeful.

Being a father of four, a grandfather of two, and owning/running an in-home daycare with my wife, technological advancements over the years have made the job of keeping an eye on the little ones much easier and safer. The new Masimo Stork Vitals+ infant/child camera and boot vital monitoring device gives us trying to juggle parent/grandparent duties with everyday obstacles much more piece of mind and a major advantage in ensuring those closest to us and under our care are safe and sound.
We ultimately decided to invest in the Vitals+ because we recently became grandparents to our first grandson and figured once he outgrows the boot, we could eventually continue to use it with other infants in our daycare. The new Stork QHD high-resolution camera with temperature monitoring and zoom in/out functions was a bonus because our older baby monitor was using old school technology and didn’t have any of the features.
Unpacking the camera, setting it up and syncing it with the smartphone app was self-explanatory for someone that is semi-tech saavy. However, I did have to reference the instructions on how to set up and adjust the boot with the included straps. The other surprisingly convenient accessories they included with this kit were wall strips to hide the camera wires and protect the infant/child from unexpectedly getting into them. You connect to the camera/boot remotely via Wi-Fi so you need to ensure you have a secure and reliable internet connection.
Being that the Stork Vitals+ is by far the most high-tech baby monitoring device we have used on our youngest grandchild, or any child for that matter, I initially wanted to ensure it was monitoring appropriately and to not solely rely on technology to do a parents’ job so we still made sure to check on him several times while sleeping. Our grandson was a week late so, being a little larger at birth than we expected, we assume the smaller Stork boot probably won’t last more than a couple months until he will have to transition into the medium size boot which is conveniently included with the Vitals+ package. Hopefully after he outgrows the medium boot we can solely rely on ourselves and the camera, if need be. Speaking of the boot sensor, it last surprisingly long, up to 16 hours, on a single charge so you don’t have to remove it too often.
The Stork smartphone app goes hand-in-hand with both devices and provides even more useful features including the room temperature where the camera is located, the humidity of the room, two-way audio, camera and a sleep sound feature that you can play music and/or ambient noise through on the camera speaker removing the need for other devices in the nursery. The boot sensor sends information to the app that provides you with the infant’s oxygen saturation, pulse rate and temperature.
After using it for a few weeks, it’s not without its downfalls. I had technical difficulties syncing both devices and performing the necessary updates via the app however, after performing several troubleshooting steps, I’m still not sure whether it was user error, the phone I was using or the device itself. I did have to contact customer service and they were very helpful and responsive. The other issues I experienced are the constant connection disruptions we have. Full disclaimer, we have 1GB internet speeds with the latest Wi-Fi 7 mesh network, both very fast and can handle multiple simultaneous streams throughout our house, and don’t typically experience connectivity issues on other devices. The first camera we received had to be replaced because of several issues including getting very hot to the touch, beeping continuously while in use and having connection issues. After receiving a replacement camera, fortunately one that does not get hot or beeps, we still have connection issues with the camera. We have performed numerous troubleshooting steps with the camera on several occasions, moved the camera to a location closer to a Wi-Fi node, moved it to a different room, tried different phones, ensured we have latest update, etc. As an example, we now just have the camera set up in our kitchen, a main area, to test it, and it will appear like it’s showing a live view. However, in most cases, it is a few seconds behind and in some cases, it will start to catch up on the live feed a minute after movement has taken place and will speed the camera feed up; imagine watching something in 3X speed. Sometimes the app will freeze/crash as well and I will have to kill the app and restart it. It can be frustrating because it’s causing us more headache trying to rely on it for monitoring and we no longer use the camera because of its unreliability. We’re hoping perhaps a future update will fix this issue. Unfortunately, for now, it’s not something we’re willing to risk using on an infant who may be in need of help.
We had hoped they worked the bugs out before we invested in the Stork Vitals+ however we’ll keep checking up on it to see if eventually it becomes more reliable, especially when it comes to your loved one’s wellbeing.

Having new a new born baby can be a bit overwhelming and knowing more about my baby including the health data provided by Stork Vitals plus has given us some peace of mind.
The Stork Vitals + comes very nicely and well packaged, it comes with two boxes and on one there is the 2k high definition camera, it comes with its power cable and even covers so the cable is not exposed for the baby to grab. The camera can be installed on the wall, on the crib and it can be easily tilted as well as turned to the sides or the back if needed.
The camera is of high quality and once paired with the app, I can watch my baby anywhere I am. And we really like that the camera because you can zoom in and pan out, also since it does have the two way audio not only can I hear what is going on in the room I can also talk back at any time anywhere.
The other box comes with the Vitals boots, both of them feel very soft and they are adjustable to be comfortable. The sensor that gets all the information is hidden under the boot so it is comfortable and nothing is sticking out and does not look like it gives our baby any discomfort.
Also the sensor has a good battery life, at the end of the day like my phone, I take it off and recharge it and the boot with the sensor goes back on when we want to make sure our baby is fine.
The application puts everything together; we can see our baby’s vitals as well as see, hear and talk back wherever we are. I can even know the room temperature and humidity. Also I can share the information as well as the video with family and friends and I get to choose how much to share.
The vitals I can see are oxygen saturation, temperature as well as pulse rate. And I can be notified when a change occurs,
Also the in app videos are a big plus, the videos show how to place the sensor on the boot, how to pair the sensor, how to connect the camera, basically how to setup the entire Stork System.
Overall it is an amazing product that has made this journey much better.

Really love this product for sleep training as it tracks the baby’s sleep patterns and can tell you what the perfect room settings are to give baby the best sleep. My only issue is that there is a small delay (only by a few seconds) when viewing the camera on my phone but I hear that can be an issue with all wifi monitors. Other than that I think the dream duo is the perfect tool to give every parent peace of mind when it comes to baby sleep.
Medical professionals recommend - All our nurses advised that this product but for the same reasons. Our son had to spend two weeks in a special care nursery where his pulse and O2 were measured by the medical version of this product which costs thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars. That device did the same thing this sock does which is give you ample amounts of positive reads. That machine and this sock are very prone to being knocked off by the kicking of a baby, particular an awake and hungry baby in our case. With that said below is my fool pros and cons list:
Pros:
1. it gives us great peace of mind - you're likely looking at this for the same reason we bought it, which is nightmare stories of SIDS. Despite its many issues I'm confident it's reading our child's vitals within a margin of error to alert us if they dip too low.
2. It is relatively easy to use - You need the app for more info on what's happening but you can also use stand alone the sock and base. This is helpful for traveling if you don't have wifi. There are three alerts Green (normal readings) Yellow (Trouble getting reading) Violet (Baby needs assistance). Technically there's also flashing green (obtaining signal) and white (the sock is charging)
3. Doesn't seem to bother the child - Despite him kicking it off as babies are wont to do he seems indifferent to it being on or off which I read as it being reasonably comfortable. He also has sensitive skin which this doesn't seem to irritate.
Cons
1. False Positives - the nurses were right and this gets kicked off all the time. It's not as often as they said but it's frequent enough to be a con. Think 4-5 times a week. Again, I think it's just the nature of something for babies like this. If sleep is your top priority though you will want to research other solutions as this is going to affect it.
2. The app is a little off - We also bought the cam which this allows you to combo into one screen which is nice but it has many issues. Despite repositioning as a "sleep quality" monitor the app doesn't really allow you to do anything with that. Also it's clunky to install/setup and there are multiple versions of the app and products to add to confusion. It also lags sometimes and it doesn't indicate it's not live. I think they tried to simplify things but missed the target. I haven't had wifi issues others had despite a basic one router setup that is on a different floor but it does say connection is just fair.
3. Lack of some features - Similar to above I think they over simplified too much. The base needs to shut off the sock but it requires a memorized clicking/plugging in sequence instead of just a button or switch. Once the child is old enough to be sleep trained it'd also be great to lengthen the snooze feature but that's not an option. you also can't adjust the volume of the alarms or what the noise they make. This might be picky but again this is a fairly expensive product which feels like it should pack a lot more than it does.
Overall - I'd say there's just two camps on this. Do you want to know for sure your baby is still breathing? this will do that. Do you want a top tier product that will maximize your peace of mind with sleep and functions? This falls woefully short and leaves me scratching my head at some decisions.
I'm still glad I bought this in hopes it spurs more products that have the same goal but function better. I also think it fits our needs but there is significant room to improve in almost every facet.

With a new baby I wanted to see what is out there for first time parents when I came across Stork. At first I was worried that it would not work well or be comfortable however was pleasantly mistaken on both. Being a techy, I enjoy seeing numbers and stats. Needless to say this product provides so much wonderful information to keep track of that it aids during checkups. The Stork product was packaged very nicely with easy setup instructions. I thought it was a nice touch to have a door hanger added for when the baby is sleeping! The little boots are very soft and comfortable and the app was easy to setup and use. At first the baby would kick off the boot or wave their little leg around wondering what's on it. However after a few short moments became use to having it on for monitoring. I do not keep the boot on for long, only during times I wish to monitor the baby. I have not seen any sweating due to the boot or discomfort however I've only used the boot for short periods of time. The camera is awesome, it provides great picture and it is fun to use the 2-way audio. The baby has no idea where its coming from haha. The mounting of the camera was very easy and the packet comes with everything to make it very simple. The app itself provides a ton of features including events , sleep habits and history. I really enjoy seeing the sleep habits and history to know how things are going. The measurements so far have been on par I feel. All the readings seem to be arcuate although have not had a sick baby "yet" to stress the system. For the tech people out there, not to worry its very easy to setup and uses 5Ghz wifi band which is great for those with high speed networks. It also can use the 2.4GhZ for those with legacy networks. The app does not take up must resources or battery on my android except when I find myself constantly running the camera watching the baby. I just cant help watching the little one for long periods of time so I have to plug in my phone haha.
Overall this product is worth it, very comfortable for the baby with a great app to monitor with.

The Masimo StorkVitals baby monitor with camera and baby boot is great in concept but far from ready for prime time.
Pros:
• Unboxing – The box is nicely designed, and all the items are nicely packed inside. There is minimal wasted packing material.
• Great concept – The combination camera and boot are a fantastic idea for newborn monitoring…if they work. I was really excited for the boot because it gave oxygen saturation, pulse, and temperature. It also sends a notification when the baby is lying face down.
Cons:
• Setup – Despite hours and hours of troubleshooting with customer service via phone and email, I have still been unable to get the camera to work. Customer service was very responsive and helpful in trying to get the camera to connect; however, each time I called I was asked to do the same troubleshooting steps over and over. Finally, they agreed the camera was likely defective and sent me a replacement. I was able to get the new camera connected to the app but unfortunately it refused to complete the required firmware update to use. It is very disappointing because their competitor’s products, which I also own, connect immediately. I have experienced a lot of Bluetooth connection failures as well on both iOS and Android. I noticed when looking at the Bluetooth name that appears for the camera, it alternates between storkcamera and storkcamerq. I wonder if this has anything to do with the error I get saying Bluetooth has failed. Check the phone device and move closer to the camera.
• App – The app is difficult to find on both the Google Play and Apple App Store. One would assume that searching Stork in either app store would find the app. Wrong! I would include a QR code to make this easier to find. The app itself has been riddled with bugs and has been updated a few times since receiving the product.
• Firmware/security – During the troubleshooting steps I realized that they had made some interesting decisions when it came to coding. First, the Wi-Fi password the device connects to cannot have special characters. Why? In what world do I need to make my network less secure to use this device. Next, it requires precise location services to be always on. Why? When the device is not in use, or the app is closed why do I need to have location services on? The boot doesn’t even work when out of Bluetooth range.
• Boot sensor – It is great when it is picking up a signal; however, when I would walk into another room, I would get a notification that the device has disconnected. This seems like a poor design choice as my baby will not always be sleeping in the same room as me, especially once we transition to a crib. Unfortunately, the boot does not function unless the camera is connected or you have the hub.
• Stork Hub – Why can’t I buy this separately? Would having this help fix the Wi-Fi issues I experience with the camera?
Overall, I cannot recommend this product at this time. It has so much potential but seems to be rushed to market before working out all the bugs.

I had a Lot of Trouble

I have a few month old new born and used the Masimo Stork Vitals+ with him. I struggled with this device since day one. I am well experienced with tech, cameras, and other devices, systems, etc. I had to do a lot of trouble shooting to get this camera to work before I could even use it with my child. My issues are listed further down.
Masimo provides everything you need from charging cables, different sized straps, boots, and even a cord organizing device. They thought of everything when it comes to providing you with the accessories you need. In addition, the quality of everything feels great from high quality cords to the boot that you will put on your child.
Monitoring my child was ok once I got everything up and running. I could see my baby clear and it allowed me to hear what I needed. The camera does not offer remote pan and tilt however you can easily do this manually. Simply keep the app open and you can monitor everything about your child including what they are doing to their essential vitals.
The boot is very informative and display information right to the app as long you are close by. The boot is great and I felt safe while it was on my child. I like being able to monitor my sons o2 level and heartbeat.
Issue #1: Upon setup I learned that it would connect to my phone via bluetooth but it would not connect to my WiFi 6. No matter what I did it would not connect in legacy mode or any other mode I put my WiFi system on. In order for me to get this camera to connect I had to bring out an old wifi box and connect it to that in order for it to connect.
Issue #2: Once connected to the WiFi the camera needed an immediate update. However, it failed over and over again. So much the camera was frozen and it wouldn't even accept the manual reset button. After unplugging the device for awhile and plugging it back in (I had to do this two times) I was able to successfully update the camera. Once updated I was able to connect the Camera to my WiFi 6 system without trouble.
Issue #3: You can not use the camera during an update (not a fan when I need to watch my 2 month old.
Issue #4: The camera randomly plays sound effects. If I put a sound on and then turn it off. 5 minutes later the sound will just randomly turn on again and it will be different.
Issue #5: The camera gets extremely hot. I have the camera out in the open and in a very well ventilated area. This got my nervous and I unplug the camera when not in use.
Issue #6: The app will not allow me to speak back through the Mic. I have all permission settings on allow. I have tested this multiple times without success.
Cons:
In addition to the struggles I listed above:
The sensor on the boot is very inaccurate with temperature. I know this is not meant to be a medical use device but the temperature is so widely off and has large temp drops and increases that just don't make sense.
I did notice a poor image quality with double imaging in the live feed. It only did this though in the bottom section of the image.
At first I could not hear my baby at all. I had the phone volume on high and could not hear anything. After a camera unplug and plug in I could then hear.
It took me forever to find the app in the App Store. I never experienced this before.
The foot sensor is bluetooth only. When the baby was in need of a nap and few rooms down or upstairs it looses connection so easily making it not very useful. While at night, yes, it stayed connect because it is in the next room.
Sharing the account with your spouse is also not very good. I sent shared access to my wife and gave the most access the app provides. She can only monitor the camera and foot sensor. It provided little to access for anything else. She couldn't turn on the sound effects or anything.
I had constant alerts that were inaccurate. They wouldn't stop so I turned them all off.
I could not give this device more than 2 stars as explained with the issues I had. It should be easy as parents have a lot to do with children and more specifically with a new born. I hope an update will be provided to correct all the issues.

Good for infants, not as good for 1 year old

I was glad to be able to review this product, because we love our little baby and want to know that he is safe and resting well in his little bed.
We had been using a Nest Indoor IQ camera and Nest Hub Max system to monitor our baby but wanted something more advanced to possibly measure other health metrics for him. So glad to try out the Stork Vital+ camera and boot system!
Out of the box, I had a hard time. The system did not connect correctly with my Pixel Fold (AndroidOS). I had so many failures that I asked my wife to connect it with her iPhone. I was able to get the camera to work with my Android, but the boot never connected. My wife couldn’t get the camera to connect correctly until the 6th time. We have a full smart home and never have had problems connecting new devices to our network or systems so this really frustrated us. I don’t think we would have been able to get the system working without both phone OSes.
It was cool to see a realtime of my son’s vitals. His little heartbeat and oxygen levels updated at what looked like every minute once the boot was attached to his foot. He’s now over 9 months old and the medium boot definitely does not seem like it will fit for too much longer. They sell a Large version but I think we’ll pass on that and save the small and medium boot for our next kid (we hope). Regardless, I think that the boot seemed comfortable for our kid and he didn’t seem to mind it nor did he try to take it off (yet).
In terms of camera, it seemed to work pretty well but my expectation was pretty high since I already have a smart home camera system. It works with IR nighttime illumination which really is not sufficient for the camera sensitivity. I think it would do better with either an additional IR bulb in the room or a boost to the camera’s IR LEDs on the next version.
I did like the quick buttons for microphone and frame capture. They seemed to have good latency, but the quality of the photo wasn’t that great and I think the speaker quality of the camera is fairly midling.
I think for our soon to be 1 year old, we’ll move back to our Nest system and save the Stork for our next child. I think it would do best with infants that are 1-9 months old that you need to monitor fairly closely.

Too big for a newborn

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have a newborn who was born a few weeks early. She's around 7lbs now. The smallest included boot doesn't really fit her well. I am getting all kinds of false alerts including sensor interference alerts as well as false alerts that my baby is laying face down. I feel that this should be fit for newborns of all sizes, not just larger newborns. Because of this, I can't really use or trust the boot at all. I really think a smaller boot needs to be included for preemies and smaller newborns.
Another thing I don't like about this, is there is no way to turn the boot sensor off. When you take it off, you just get alerts that it's off and the battery continues to run down. I have yet to find a way to turn it off other than to let it die.
I'm experiencing a lot of issues with the camera disconnecting from WiFi. I have an excellent mesh wifi system and have great signal all throughout my house. I have made changes to my WiFi to troubleshoot the issues but I am still experiencing the issues. I don't have these issues with my other devices so its difficult to blame my wifi system. I'm still troubleshooting these issues to try to resolve the disconnects.
I will also say, the speaker and microphone on the camera are very faint and I can barely hear it. I'm not sure if there is a way to increase the volume level here, if there is, i haven't found it.
Would I recommend this device to others? That's a hard question because I don't feel I can accurately use the device yet but I will say, if you have a small newborn, you may want to either reach out and see if they have a smaller boot or look elsewhere because it simply doesn't fit. I hope this fits her better in the next few weeks. I really would like the piece of mind this device is supposed to provide. It looks and feels well built. I'm not a huge fan of the app. I feel it leaves much to be desired but it isn't the worst and you can still get the information you are looking for.

Much Needed Set for any Parent!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I am pretty impressed with Masimo's Stork Vitals+ set, I must say I did not expect such a product to deliver such valuable data. This Baby Monitor with Night vision as well as the special comfy boot for your baby is a must have for any new parent or any parent who wants to make sure their baby is feeling well and being checked on at any point in time!
First of all, the Two-Way camera is a quad high-definition (QHD) resolution and can provide a clear picture day or night. I was skeptical at first to see how it would work at night, and was pleasantly surprised that the Night Vision truly works! It is very easy to set up with the app (called Stork) and it also allows you to control the camera to zoom in and pan out, so you can see more what's happening in that crib. The camera has crisp video so you can literally view your baby's breathing rhythm and whether or not they are asleep and comfortable.
Now the most valuable part of this set is represented in the supplied boot that comfortably fits your baby's foot. You would simply insert your supplied Stork sensor into the Stork boot’s soft, flexible silicone frame and let the valuable data flow. The boot’s sensor lasts sixteen hours on a full charge, and you can recharge to full in only two hours. I find this little invention to be valuable in times when your baby is not feeling good and as a parent you would be always concerned about baby's temperature and other vitals, and now you don't have to be too concerned! With the help of the app again, you can check on your baby during the night and make sure he or she are good! Peace of mind! It even measures baby's room temperature! Now the valuable data that you can always track with this boot is: your baby’s blood oxygen saturation, heart rate and body temperature. I find this data to be accurate and needed. The app is very user friendly and displays everything at any given moment of course.
This set is definitely a great investment and I highly recommend it to any parent.

We've tried another reputable brand that monitors oxygen saturation, pulse rate, and temperature of our little one. At one time there were issues of whether or not they had the right to use it as a medical device for those specific monitoring purposes. In reading more into the Masimo company, and their founder, Joe Kiani. It really speaks volumes about this device and how they're the leading company responsible for baby monitoring with their Masimo SET technology.
- " 9 out of the 10 top U.S. hospitals, as ranked in U.S. News and World Report, use Masimo SET® as their primary pulse oximetry technology."
- " 200 million patients are monitored with Masimo SET® pulse oximetry in leading hospitals and other healthcare settings around the world each year."
- " More than 100 studies have shown that Masimo SET® outperforms other pulse oximetry technologies."
With numbers and statements like that when it comes to something as precious as your newborn child it speaks volumes as to this is definitely the company and product to choose.
What's included? You get Stork Boots, a Camera, Camera Mount, Stork Sensor, Sensor Magnetic Charger, Adapter
Upon setting everything up some of the features are Zoomable camera, (it is stationary but you do have digital zoom), it does have 2-way audio so you can hear your baby and they can hear you as well. It does have night vision, the boots are adorable! soft and love the color scheme. The companion app is as beautifully put together as the boots are. I got a new baby, she is going to be the most protect and loved baby in the family. Not just cause I am rehearsing the lines from Bad Boy 2 and plotting her college career but because of the Masimo Stork Vitals+ Baby Monitor. It is a high-tech baby monitor that combines continuous health monitoring with video and audio. The monitor includes a camera, a boot that attaches to the baby's foot, and a mobile app that allows parents to view and track their baby's vital signs from anywhere. The camera has a wide-angle lens and night vision, so parents can see their baby clearly, even in the dark. The boot attaches to the baby's foot and measures their heart rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature. The data from the boot is transmitted to the mobile app in real time, so parents can be alerted to any changes in their baby's health. The mobile app also allows parents to talk to their baby through the camera, and to play lullabies or white noise. The app also has a history feature, so parents can see a record of their baby's vital signs over time. The Masimo Stork Vitals+ Baby Monitor is a great option for parents who want to keep an extra close eye on their baby's health. She had some complications coming home and this is very well needed. The monitor is easy to use and the data is easy to understand. The monitor is also very reliable and has been praised by parents for its accuracy and convenience. This isn't my first child but because of this monitor, arguably the most protected.

One of the biggest fears of new parents is making sure your child is still breathing. With the Stork Vitals plus I am rest assured that there is a heart beat coming from my baby and if there are any issues then an alarm will go off which can be annoying if it is a false alarm, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. The 2k camera along with he silicon stork boot work well together to make sure I have eyes on the baby and have a heart beat. The App was easy to find and use. The stork boot is super soft silicon and while there are other options that may be more comfortable, I don’t think any of them have the medical device background that Massimo has. The star of the show is the sensor which can be placed in the small or larger sized boot. The app provides ambient temperature information, oxygen saturation, temperature, pulse rate and when any drastic change happens I get notified. Overall what Massimo is selling is a medical device that provides peace of mind, and if hospitals rely on their sensors for their machines I can’t think of a reason why I wouldn’t trust them with the vitals of my baby.

Upon receiving my stork I was extremely excited to get started. When I open to package there were two separate boxes. One had the camera system and the other had the monitoring system. I thought this was a fantastic idea so that you don't end up mixing parts. When I went to download the app I could not find it. It is not called "Stork" but "Masimo Stork" and I had to go through 14 different apps before I could locate it in the Google Play store. I started with setting up the camera. It took a few tries to get it connected to my Bluetooth but after that it was up and running perfectly.
The camera provided a very clear picture and clear sound to my phone. I thought it was a very nice feature that you can play music through the monitor. There were several different options to include play time music. We don't offer television to our infant but we do have him listening to music all day long. This was a great addition. The only issue I had with the music was that there was no way to adjust the volume. We also have XM radio and it would be a great feature if you could allow a way to sign into your account as a music option.
When I opened the sensor, the box was very difficult to open due to suction. The items inside were not heavy enough. When I read the instructions it stated that the sensor needed to be charged fully before first use. While I allowed the sensor to charge, I interchange the straps to fit my infants size. The instructions were very clear and this was easy to do. Having two extra straps, I wish there was a carry case for those and the extra boot.
The sensor don't needed to be charged overnight since I did not open the package until later in the day. Once I pulled the sensor off of the charger, I connected it to my phone as directed. After it was connected I needed updates to both the camera and the sensor. After the update, my phone was having issues connecting to the camera. The camera would work and then it would freeze after 4 seconds of being connected. I could not get the camera to unfreeze. I had two unplug it and plug it back in. Ultimately I had to disconnect the camera and reinstall it. I also discovered during the time of disconnecting the camera, that the sensor does not work if the camera is not plugged in and working. I do not like the fact that they both must be connected for the sensor to work.
The sensor would not connect and continuously kept going offline. I continued to have issues with the camera freezing and not working. At this point I became so frustrated I had to walk away. I attempted the next day and had further updates to install for the camera. At this point the camera was finally operational. The sensor however would be connected to the Internet but disconnected from the system. I deleted and installed the sensor and both started working without issue.
When the sensor became disconnected my phone got a very loud buzzer alert. I did activate the alert to be notified if my infant was on their stomach. I do not like the fact that I simply get a text message alert, which doesn't go off of my phone is on silent for my infant being on their stomach but I get a buzzer notification if it's disconnected. I believe that you should also have a buzzer notification if an infant is on their stomach. I would not be woken up at night by a message tone.
Unfortunately when I closed the app out on my phone and removed the sensor from my infant I constantly received notification that my sensor was disconnected. There is no way to turn the sensor off.
After closing the app and opening it back up, the camera and sensor were again having connection issues. The camera would freeze and the sensor would not connect. I disconnected and reconnected both devices and everything worked properly. If id close the app I'd experience the same issue when I'd open it again.
Overall I believe that the concept is fantastic. I do not believe a mother of multiple children was consulted on the product before release as there are numerous suggestions that I would have made to better the use and experience with the camera and sensor. I find it to be unreliable and extremely frustrating to use. But a lot of this could probably be solved with some tweaks to the firmware and app.
I would cautiously suggest this product to friends and family, giving the above disclaimers on how cumbersome it was to set up.
