This is probably my favorite movie of all time. I've had the DVD and Vudu version of it since it came out. I saw it opening week in theatres. I have the novels and so on...I love it. I never had the Bluray until recently though, and I must say, it's quite an upgrade. Even compared to the Vudu version, the bluray is a great transfer and for the price Best Buy so generously offers it, it's a steal. Please, support not only the films of Russell Crowe, but media about the Age of Exploration. Thank you.

This didn't get the love Gladiator got and that's because it's not without flaws but, the opening scene may be one of the best in movie history. Visuals and sound especially make this a strong consideration for any fan of action/adventure movies. At 5 bucks or whatever there's virtually no risk to owning this overlooked if flawed gem.

One of the best adventure/war movies of all time. Russell Crowe is superb as the Commander of a British frigate during the Napoleonic Wars. A distinctly different take on the British Navy from a similar period piece, Mutiny on the Bounty. This Blu-ray edition comes with a digital copy for an unbeatable price.

A film from Russel Crowe's early acting years, and one of his best. Effects are stupendous and judiciously utilized. Adapted from a historically based novel by Patrick O'Brien, this movie tells a tale set in the era of England and France at war on distant seas. First rate cast too.

Had the dvd but wanted to upgrade to Bluray since it was only $4.99. Didn't remember much about the movies since I haven't watch it a long time ago but liked it enough to have bought the dvd version when it first came out. Bonus, this disc had a digital redemption.

Excellent adaptation of the Patrick O'Brian series, with great performances all around, and some fresh faces to fill in the well-known characters. Great story, action, and soundtrack, portraits the period in a fresh way. All thumbs up!

I have to admit I didn't like this movie much when I first saw it in theatres but it's grown on me since. It's well-acted, well-directed and looks and sounds great on blu-ray.

Adaptation of a long time novel series by Patrick O'Brian. Scale is great though the wealth of extras off the old dvd are lacking for teh most part. Price is right.

The second best Russell Crowe movie next to Gladiator. Fantastic story telling, a bit of humor here and there and great action scenes on the water. This is a must have!

I was really happy to find this classic in the Best Buy bargain bin. One of the great seafaring movies ever made, with an outstanding cast, including Russell Crowe.

Master and Commander is a fantastic movie. Great action and cinematography as well. Best Buy had this on sale at a great price. Win, win!!

This movie has a great story line and the actors make it a movie that keeps you wanting to watch more. Fun to watch, entertaining

We really like this movie! Would recommend this movie for those who like to watch the old battleship movie's back in the day.

To be honest I only bought this because it was on sale for five dollars, for that price it exceeded expectations.

was expecting this to be a bad movie but I really liked the movie. Very well done Russell Crowe did a good job.

I actually got this as a test of our subwoofer. The naval battle scenes contain reference level sound.

Not much into it when it hit theaters watch it when it came on dvd and love it, great action and effects.

This is a suspenspeful film with terrific actors. It's worth it especially with a digital copy too.

My son has autism and loves this movie. This is not the first or last time I will buy it I’m sure.
