These are the best sounding Bluetooth headphones on the market. They do have a neutral sound.

I’ve been testing these headphones for several weeks before writing this review. They have even traveled with me twice. The battery life is good especially if you remember to turn it off. Unfortunately, I forgot to test exact standby and on times during my travels. Out of the box it is pre-charged and extremely easy to pair to my iOS device. Charging is pretty fast. The packaging is beautiful. From the moment you open the box, the look and design and build gives you a sense of luxury and modern design with a slight kick of retro. The build quality is fantastic. Absolutely far superior to any other headphones I have owned.
The headband is comfortable and soft. It also has a great stretch, bend and twist to it. So not easily breakable, and will fit different size heads. It’s easy to store away and it comes with a nice travel bag to place them in. I will say the bag could have been made from a sturdier material. It’s just a regular bag to slip them into not much protection if dropped. For the price I would have expected a hard case for more protection. I didn’t deal with any ear or any head fatigue, as I didn’t keep them on for hours at a time. However, having them around my neck did give me neck fatigue (I don’t have a long neck) and I would have to remove them all together. They are not heavy though, very lightweight compared to other headphones I’ve had in the past, that lacked any type of tech, such as these.
The Bluetooth range is great and so good that I sometimes forget I don’t have my phone any where near me at times and I have to go searching for it. As I stated earlier, I paired these headphones to iOS devices and the integration was quick and easy. Google assistant was quick to use. Because I don’t have any Android products to test it on I’m not sure if it’s as seamless as someone who may be using an Android device. And I have a feeling it may not be as I have to have the google assistant app downloaded (which I do for other google home products I own), and on the Android device it’s probably a native feature. However, if you use a different assistant, such as Siri, you’re able to switch off Google assistant and still use your native or preferred assistant, which I think is great.
The sound is very, very clean, crisp and clear. The bass isn’t over saturating your ears, and you’re able to hear sounds that you probably wouldn’t hear otherwise. It’s very balanced, hitting all points; mids, highs, lows. I love more bass heavy music, but this was a refresher. I listened to several genres and because the sound is so balanced it handled them well. For the volume, I think that the levels were fine. You can control it on your phone to make sure you’re at your loudest and then control it further with the headphones volume controls to extend the volume even more. The Active Noise Cancelling on these are superb. You have two different levels and off, and you can definitely hear the difference. Even at lower volumes I was able to block out sounds. And sometimes I would just put them on to drown out the sound of my kids calling my name, lol. Mom approved ;)
Now when speaking on the phone, I didn’t have a great or seamless experience. Using the buttons to answer takes a bit of learning, and remembering, as you have to remember which side the buttons are depending on how you put the headphones on. And having to remember what actions each button does. But my problem was more so with the other person hearing me. Speaking to people on any device I could hear crisp and clear. No issues on my end. When I spoke to people I knew that had iOS devices they could hear me clearly. I suppose it wasn’t the best quality but we could carry on without them saying they couldn’t hear me or I sound far away. However, when I spoke to a friend with an Android device it was as if I was on another planet. I was told that I sound like I was so far away and they could barely hear me. Now I’m not sure why that would’ve been the case. But I tried speaking with them on multiple occasions wearing the headphones and received the same response. But it could just be their phone as I struggle to hear them on regular occasions. So I wouldn’t necessarily claim that it was due to the M&D headphones. I need to find more friends with Androids, lol.
Altogether, I would recommend these, especially if budget allows. They are fantastic for audiophiles and gives crisp sound to hear more of what you normally can’t. It’s not very bass heavy and can fall a bit flat, so if that’s something you must have then skip these but for everything else, give them a try. It could be worth it to you.

Perfectly balanced sound, well made/great features

The Master & Dynamic MW65G1 headphones are just plain awesome. As the title says the sound is perfectly balanced, they have top notch build quality, and plenty of features to make them like I said just plain awesome. In the box you get of course the MW65G1 headphones, USB C cable for charging, USB A adapter, 3.5 mm cable, carrying bag, and the guides.
The headphones themselves look great. You can tell they wanted to not just make another set of bland headphones. They are extremely well made with high quality materials. But despite this they are super lightweight. Id guess this is due to being made of aluminum. That and all the leather makes for a beautiful, yet super strong set of cans. I like the sorta old school look as well. The button layout is very simple and easy to use and learn. The left side has the pairing and active noise cancelling buttons, and the right has the volume buttons and a “main” multi function button that handles things like play/ pause, calls, and voice related actions.
Fitwise I am “blessed” with a rather large head, so not all headphones fit me. And some that fit do so just barely. Thankfully here they do have the “just fit me feel”, but not to where they are at all tight or uncomfortable. In fact just the opposite. Although snug they feel great. And like I said they are so light you can easily forgot they are there. Overall very comfortable.
Set up is of course easy as long as you know how to pair the device you are connecting to. For me thats my Galaxy S10 plus. So easy as BT settings, get the headset in paring mode, and choose them in the BT settings of the phone. Once connected they stay connected and have no issues getting my phone re-connected.
Before I talk about sound I have to address the incredible noise cancelling of these. The noise cancelling button has 3 settings. High, low, and off. I thought that the noise cancelling was already on when I first starting to use them because just the well made pads themselves were already reducing outside noise a lot. But once the NC was activated it was a world of difference. You can concentrate fully on the audio and get lost in the sound when you have nothing else distracting you.
And of course you cant talk about headphones without talking about the sound. And in one word like I said in the title... Balanced. Just know they are not meant to compete or compare with Beats. That does not mean they dont have bass. Its that they care about the full sound spectrum, and it shows. The sound is rich, with every note, word, etc. sounding to me like the way the artist intended. Perfectly balanced with just the right amount of highs, mids, lows, and everything between.
So in summary the Master & Dynamic MW65G1 headphones are awesome. Perfect sound, very comfortable and lightweight. Outstanding noise cancelling. Full day battery life. And superb build quality with an old shoolish look. All this combines into an amazing set of cans. Highly recommended.

When you *only* want to hear music!

The Master & Dynamic headsets are absolutely gorgeous looking wireless headsets and extremely comfortable to wear. I have been specifically using them to take naps to nod off to soothing music, in addition to my normal music listening while playing games/doing chores.
The noise cancellation on this is also excellent. I had previously used the Bose QuietComfort series and they did not feel or work as well as the M&D. Would I wear these outside? No, because it does such a good job (and look amazing) that I would not want to put myself into a situation in which I wouldn't be able to hear anything around me, making me an easy target for a mugging. I could turn off the N/C function, but then it defeats the purpose of enjoying music only. So for me personally, these are indoor headsets. The noise cancellation works so well, one day I came home, put them on, washed some dishes, and went off to play a game while listening to music. When a friend arrived shortly after, they asked me to take off the headsets - which I could then hear that I had my very loud air-conditioner on at full blast, and never turned off the sink. That's how good they are, could not hear anything beyond my music!
Pairing to phone is pretty simple, and it comes with all you need to plug into any device. What to plug into an old phone that doesn't have Bluetooth? There's a 3.5mm cable for that. In flight adapter? Also included. Want to charge it but do not have a USB-C charge brick? A USB-C to standard USB adapter included.
Making and receiving calls on cell phone? Not an issue, I can hear people clearly, and they can also hear me clearly while walking all over my home with my phone far away.
I also like to use the headsets to plug into my Playstation PSVR for gaming chats, though I believe when I plug in the cable, it somehow disables the built in mics. Not that big of a deal for me, but would've been nice to plug this into a controller and use the mics on the headsets (vs using the PSVR mics).
Again, the noise cancellation is so good, that if you wanted to just kind of isolate yourself to music/podcasts/games, these are definitely the headsets to do that with. Battery life is also great, as it took at least 3 weeks before I finally had to charge it again (after an initial full charge when I opened it).
I will admit that they are not cheap and you can tell by the quality and usefulness of the headsets, but if you're someone like me who almost needs to only hear music, I would not choose another. Totally worth it.

Had for 30 days tried everything to make these work properly. Phone calls were horrible people were unable to hear me or said I sound very far away. Volume for music is very low I really had to crank it to 80-90% to hear the music otherwise the sound is soft and low. Also the audio usb-c cord that can be purchased separate from Master and Dynamic did not work with these headphones even though the official site indicates it does. In order for the sound to work properly with the cord the cable had to be slightly inserted into the port on the headphones otherwise the sound would be very hollow if inserted the proper way. In my opinion a person is better getting the MW50+ or maybe the MW60's over these.

The USB-C to 3.5mm cord will work, but in the configuration where the item is plugged in from the 3.5mm input of the headphones into the USB-C input of your device. The USB-C port on the headphones unit itself is for charging only. The MW50+, MW60 are tuned to a similar sound as the MW65, with the MW65 being the full-featured new addition to our wireless family- adding ANC, Beryllium drivers, and a lighter footprint. We're so sorry they weren't a good fit for you. If there is such a thing as luxury electronics this would be the definition of it. The build quality and materials are second to none. Precision craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident throughout the build. Specs wise, it has all the basic modern features, USB C charging, all day battery life, 2 levels of noise cancellation, soft and comfortable leather headband and ear cups. It uses physical buttons that have a tactile feel so you know what you are pressing and are easy to find. I like this much better then the touch sensitive buttons on other headsets that you have a difficult time finding and are not always responsive. Ergonomics are perfect, I wouldn't change a thing. The ear cups are over the ear and there is no pressure on your earlobes so it can be worn for hours on end without discomfort. You really need to see it in person and feel it to appreciate how much of a premium product it is.
The sound quality if NC (noise cancellation) off is quite frankly terrible, it sounds tinny with no base and harsh treble, I would compare it to a $5 set of ear buds. But, turn on NC and wow! This thing really transforms, the bass is deep and full, the mids are crystal clear and the highs are smooth. In extending listening sessions I get no fatigue. The NC works well and blocks outside sounds so you can listen at a low volume but still get the impact and enveloping sound where normally you would have to crank it up.

I expected better

The Master & Dynamic - MW65G1 is a nice looking pair of wireless headphones, but not without it's flaws. This is the first pair of headphones that I have owned that Best Buy has on their Magnolia list of products, which generally means their best of the best products that Best Buy sells. I have owned other Magnolia products and mostly agree with their experts on premium products listings. To start with the good. Like I mentioned, this is a nice looking pair of headphones and definitely displays a premium look and durable build. The gunmetal gray along with black leather headband and ear cups just says class. The bluetooth connection is flawess with a solid range. Battery of 24hrs is fantastic, of course there are headphones that will go beyond this but with active noise cancellation you would expect there to be some battery compromises. The Google Assistant button comes in handy, especially with the bluetooth range and when you are not next to you phone. As for the sound, listening to music and watching movies have produced to have some great output. I have tried other active noise cancelling headphones in the past and these Master & Dynamic headphones didn't bother me as some others with the phased out sound waves that are produced to block out external sounds. Call it sensitive ears, but some of the active noise cancelling technology tend to have made me steer away from this type of noise cancelling headphones. This set for some reason didn't bother me as much which may correlate to the first con to these headphones. You are able to turn noise cancellation to high, low or off. Seems like pretty good options, however I really didn't notice much of a difference between thos settings. Even on high, I could still hear some light background noise that I would have expected to block out. For example, I tested these headphone on a family vacation and during our hotel stays, we used white noise machine. Unfortunately when watching a show using these headphones, I could still hear the white noise machine. Sure, I could have eventually drowned out the white noise by turning up the volume on the headphones, but I could have done that with any other pair of non noise cancelling headphones which would take me one step closer to hearing loss. Personally, I could get past that issue however the next issue became a deal breaker for me. Not to say everyone will have this issue, perhaps it's my above average head size. Comfort was a complete disappointment. These headphones are almost half the weight of the previous headphones I used and unfortunately I find meself constantly adjusting them because I ears feel they have too much pressure on them. Sadly to say, I can not say I can wear these all day long like some other headphones I have used. Honestly, they start to bother me after 10-15 mins. So needless to say, these were not the right fit for me and personally can not recommend them as they are not a good fit for all. For the premium price tag and Magnolia product listing, it is justifiable to hold these to a higher expectation.

The Active Noise Cancellation feature is best at reducing ambient and white persistent noises - such as the hum of an engine, air conditioner, or a similar white noise. It May not be as effective with short bursts of noise, such as talking or tapping, for example. The fit of the headband itself is also adjustable, much like the bill of a cap, the leather lined metal frame can be slightly adjusted to add or relieve the pressure on your ears. These MW65 headphones are fantastic! I have quite a collection of headphones - these are the 6th pair I've acquired - and these are my favorites so far. I have 2 different models of highly-regarded planar headphones that cost as much or more than the MW65's, and while those sound great the MW65's edge them out in several areas. And that doesn't even take into account that the MW65's are wireless and noise-cancelling! I also have one of their major noise-cancelling competitors that start with an "S" and I prefer these.
I did a lot of listening to the MW65's using them as wired headphones connected to a high-end desktop DAC/headphone amp while streaming hi-res/MQA music via Tidal. In my opinion the sound quality in this scenario is beyond reproach. Simply stellar. The balance between bass, mids, and highs is right on. Bass goes deep and accurate, it doesn't boom and is not over-exaggerated like many other headphones. Mids are silky and well-defined. Highs are detailed to just the right degree. Some headphones with extremely detailed highs can make all but the best recordings sound terrible, but in the case I would say the highs are detailed just short of that point. Imaging is very good for closed-back headphones, I would say a little better than my closed-back planars but not quite as good as my open-back planars.
Wireless performance is also great. Using Tidal and the same tracks as my desktop system, I could detect a slight softening of the highs while using Bluetooth, whether noise-cancelling was turned on or not. I found the best sound quality using Bluetooth was with noise-cancelling set to low. The high setting had a slightly greater impact on the sound quality but if you need that extra isolation it is a good trade-off since with all that outside noise you won't hear best sound quality anyway. Keep in mind that these differences are extremely subtle and required hours of listening to be sure I was even hearing a difference.
Another thing - the build quality of the MW65's is delightful. They look and feel expensive - as they should at this price point. They are easy to operate and I really like the button and switch layout.
Overall, the MW65's are outstanding and highly recommended.

These Masters & Dynamic headphones are absolutely amazing. I read a ton of reviews on how good their earbuds were and wanted to find out how good the wireless headphones may be...and am I glad I gave them a shot. I currently own a Japanese company's class-leading headphones and have owned several versions of them. I thought they ruled but now, I think M&D may have taken over the throne.
The sound field is absolutely amazing, with full depth while each instrument/layer is perfectly emphasized and clear. The bass is great too without it being harsh at all. I tested it with several songs that have deep bass moments and even though I had that physical rumble effect, it wasn't unpleasant whatsoever and it didn't wash out any of the other tones.
The noise cancelling may not be as advanced as my other headphones I mentioned, but it certainly is doing a superb job blocking out anything around me. I like it set to "high" and will probably only use that setting. I will most definitely use them on my next plane flight and see how well they sound in the most extreme condition. I do wish they have an atmospheric pressure adjustment but I can live without it. No issues and so far, so very good.
They look very high-end and and a bit retro with an open back feel. They are surprisingly small and light. The leather is super soft and so far, they have fit well and are quite comfortable. The materials and construction are top-notch. I'll have to try them out longer so I can see how the battery lasts but generally, I plug them in after each use.
Im looking forward to using these much, much more and hope they hold up well over time. Thanks M&D. I'm super impressed and really happy I decided to give them a try!

These over the ear headphones are not only comfortable, they produce a huge quality sound that blows away Bose and some other over the ear headphones. They are quality made and the one complaint is they feel a bit flimsy putting them on since they are a bit loose around the top but they do fit once on and cancel all noise to help to drown out sounds. Not sure they are worthy of the price tag but carrying the Master and Dynamic name, that may have something to do with it.
