This was exactly the washer we were looking for and can easily tackle bedsheets and towels. The lack of agitator in the new top loading machines is such a blessing. The only minor hindrance is the start button is not as sensitive to touch as I would have liked and it takes more than one or two hits to get it right...maybe it is me. Overall, excellent functionality and great value for buck.

Had to get rid of the front load - this is amazing. Lots of room (no agitator is huge) and cleans very well. Clear door makes it easy to see what’s being washed.

This washer uses way less water than our old agitator type. It weighs the load to determine water level. I washed a single shirt and it came out with dry spots. Works better with a larger load. There are settings to use that will provide more water which I am now using. I have noticed no difference in cleaning ability as compared to our old washer. Waiting to see the water bill!

I had my last Maytag washer 18 years with not one problem. I hope I have just as much luck with this one. It takes much longer to get thru a cycle but uses quite a bit less water. It is also nosier than my old model. It cleans the clothes and after spinning my clothes are quite a bit dryer than my old machine.

Our first HE washer...

This is our first high efficiency washer. We knew we wanted top load over front load. I would have liked "smart" over "dumb" but wasn't willing to pay a premium for a smart washer/dryer. [We purchased the matching dryer Model:MGDX655DW as well.] All that being said, we are very happy with this washing machine after about 1 month of ownership.
The washer is quieter than our previous (1990s) washer with a "twisting post" agitator and much quieter than the pre-90s "up/down" style agitator. Because there is no post, there is ample room for large loads or oversized items.
It took us awhile to master the cleaning settings. After about a month of ownership, however, we really only use the following cycles: "Bulky/Sheets" (sheets, towels, jeans) and "Normal" (everyday loads). We have done deep water once or twice (which just fills the basin with more water than a standard efficiency wash) and a hand wash once which was essentially the old "gentle" setting, I think.
We have elected to use HEAVY SOIL as our "normal" setting. I believe the soil knob essentially equates to agitator run time but I could be wrong. My guess is that MEDIUM would be the better default but HEAVY has not resulted in any abnormal wear on the fabrics. We did EXTRA HEAVY once after an issue with gardening and mud. I must say the machine did a pretty good job in EXTRA HEAVY mode of getting mud soaked clothing as clean as reasonably possible.
I am not sure why there are 3 "cold water" levels. Regardless, we "set and forget" at COOL but have on occasion turned the knob warmer for special items or cleaning needs.
The spin cycle is both mesmerizing and very efficient at removing a LOT of water from fabrics. "Dry tech" nylon based fabrics found in athletic gear are virtually dry from the spin cycle alone.
The auto-load sensing is pretty neat and the basin is HUGE compared to what we used to have. [Consequently we are overwhelming our dryer and need longer dry times than we were used to.] When it comes to features and washing ability/quality, we are very satisfied and have no complaints.
There are a couple of design issues, however...
The sloped top means you can't really set anything on top of the lid. We tend to fold clothes in the laundry room and stack items on top of the washer and dryer for kids to pick up later. Because of the slope, we can't do that anymore. Things end up on the floor.
Additionally, we have had some "lid locked" issues when it shouldn't have been locked. A jiggle of the lid or a press of the pause/start/cancel button resolved the matter.
One final thought... This brand/model was not our first choice. We settled on it, however, when we noticed that it had the shortest lid height of all the top-load washers. Our machine sits under cabinets and required something with a "low-profile" lid. Other models would not have allowed us to open the lid all the way without hitting the cabinets.

would not recommend this product. This washer is exceptionally slow, and normal wash time is about an hour and 10 minutes. Since purchasing this washer less then three years ago, I had to repair it twice and now a third time. First repair was the, "Wash Plate" where the teeth were completed grind away (average cost of part $75 dollars) Second repair was for the, "Timer" which is connect to the electronic panel (average cost of part $270 dollar). 3rd repair, washer is making a horrible grind coming from the transmission (unknown cost). More grading coming from washer, this will now be 4 repairs in 3 years? My last washer lasted more then 10 years (GE). Thankfully, I paid for the 5 year warranty (which is also a joke) Average wait time is appropriately 12 days with longest repair taking a month and half and three separate trips for my Maytag refrigerator. Additionally, lets talk about energy savings. Since purchasing Maytag Fridge side by side, Maytag Washer, and Maytag Dryer, my electric bill has gone up approximately 30%. That is a rough estimate but validated by SCE when I questioned the increase on my monthly invoice. Lastly, the incentive for a rebate was offered. But by the time the units were delivered to my home, the rebate was over and not honored. This was a $350 and unfortunately you must send in proofs to obtain this, cant send in what isn't delivered. Worst experience, attempted to buy a US Brand and unfortunately cannot say anything nice and I have hesitated hoping this would change. To date: Dryer: 2 repairs, Washer: 3 repairs (one pending) Fridge: 2 repairs. Washer Model # MVWX655DW0

First "he" washer for us. So far so good. Wanted "he", but didn't want a front load washer. Huge capasity for an upright washer! Cleans well. I put a line on deterg cap to be sure I don't use too much (I don't need as much as the deterg label recommends). Love the see through lid for keeping an eye on bulky or uneven loads that may need to be shifted at spin cycle.

I have been using the washer and matching dryer for several weeks. I have never had a Maytag Appliance, and it's a high quality product. It has performed beautifully. I like all the new technology that it has, and it's simple to operate. It does an amazing job cleaning everything we have. I love that there is so much room in the basket since the agitator is gone. It has a 10 year warranty on the the Drive Motor and Wash Basket. Great machine. I highly recommend it.

We purchased this washer when our front loader started to smell like it was burning. We didn't want another front loader and love this top loader. It is very large and so far it can handle our large family. Wanted something simple that teenagers could also use. We don't need a ton of different settings. Just a note for those going from front loader to this, it does make a lot more noise. I was worried that water was spraying out, but it was just inside the drum. But it does not shake at all like our old one.

My wife and I have been extremely happy with this washing machine. I know there were complaints with this model being loud, but we haven’t experienced anything abnormal. We keep ours in the basement and can just barely hear it running, which is nice since you can normally tell when the cycle has completed. The machine is extremely easy to use and has not ruined one piece of clothing so far (we have had this for roughly 5 months now).

Does what it should and does it well. Uses much less water than our old machine. Some say it is noisy but it isn't at all. Our old one was louder. Read the manual, decide which setting to use and it is great. You have to play around with the loads a couple of times to get use to which setting is right for what you are washing. Remember it uses way less water than the older machines. Don't overload it! Have had for over a month now and we are very satisfied so far. We will see how durable it is. New appliances aren't made as well so time will tell!

Our previous washer had held us in good stead. After 20 years, time to replace our old, creaky, and rusting appliance. We chose this washer for a variety of reasons including see through top, decreased water use, no pooling of water in lid, and overall efficiency. The Best Buy representative was well versed with respect to product knowledge. Best of all, I am 5'-2" and can reach the bottom easily! I would certainly recommend this washer.

Nice and big, gets clothes clean. I've only had it for a few months, but so far so good. Some reviewers complain about the noise--I don't find it that noisy, and I think these new appliances just sound different. I like the different settings and the size of the tub--the glass top is nice too.

I really like this washer however I gave this 4 stars because it is a little noisy when it first starts to spin but that is the only time that I hear it. The rest of the wash cycle is really quiet. I wanted a washer that didn't have a computer dashboard and an agitator. Really happy with this purchase.

I gave it a 4 star because I love the ease of use and it is a LARGE drum without an agitator. I take 1 away because it is so noisy.. it makes some of the most loud banging noises in cycles. Had I known i may have chosen otherwise???

We've had this washer for over a year and haven't had any problems or complaints. I was skeptical about getting a washer with no agitator, but so far, our clothes come out clean and I haven't lost any more buttons from my shirts.

I thought I would like the no agitator but it has its plus and minus’ this is energy efficient and maybe I am not familiar enough with this feature but seems strange that the clothes don’t get all wet. Still a nice washer just not sure I would choose it again.
