This is a terrific product for older individuals that desire independence in their daily lives. I did a LOT of research trying to find the right wearable device for my 80+ year old father after a recent medical scare. Because my father has mild dementia, we were looking for a wearable device that was simple to use (smart watches were too complicated for my father, who barely remembers how to use his smart phone), had GPS tracking functionality that did not rely on WiFi connectivity, decent battery life, an SOS function with an integrated phone to call for help, and also functioned as a watch (so he would actually wear it everyday and everywhere). It was surprisingly difficult to find this marriage of simplicity and functionality. In fact, this was the ONLY product that checked all the boxes for us. It is very easy to trigger the SOS call (hold down the red button for 3 seconds, which automatically connects to a live Medical Guardian operator, who can then either call 911 or your designated contact list according to the account preferences), and to cancel the alert if the button is accidentally pushed. The sound quality on the watch is surprisingly loud and crisp, so even if dad forgets how to go through the motions of canceling the alert on the watch, he can verbally tell the operator that he is okay. We tested the SOS functionality a few times for practice, and the Medical Guard operators were very patient and kind. To be clear, the phone functionality is limited to SOS calls to the Medical Guardian emergency operator (no other incoming or outgoing calls), but you can use the mobile app to send a text message which is displayed on the watch face, such as "Hi Dad, call me", or text-to-voice message played through the speaker. I want to note that all of the negative reviews about this product seem to relate to the ongoing monitoring fee (around $50/month after two free months). This may seem like a lot to some folks, but for what you're getting in return (i.e., live operators available 24x7x365 to send an ambulance and call family members, prolonging the period for aging individuals to live independently, and peace of mind for both the wearer and their family members), this is a bargain!

Good product for the price. You do need to pay a monthly fee (received 2 mos free w/purchase). Overall good value for a safety watch for an elderly person.

Ok I purchased this for my elderly mother. It is difficult to set up the service is expensive and even the staff at Best Buy reluctantly and privately cringed at this watch. Never again and I couldn’t even get a stroke credit for this. It’s supposedly designed for seniors and not even my nephew couldn’t understand the set up.
If there is less than zero that is how I would rate it.

DO NOT RISK YOUR LOVED ONES' LIVES!!!! We got this for my mother last week, and a few days later she fell. She pushed the button for help, 3 separate times over the next 2 hours, as she was badly hurt and unable to get up. NO RESPONSE FROM GUARDIAN. NO EMT ARRIVED. NO NOTIFICATION TO FAMILY. By the grace of God someone stopped by and found her and called 911. When the company was contacted about their UTTER FAILURE, their only reply was "so sorry, that's not how it should work, hope your Mom is OK". Their app SHOWS THAT MY MOM HIT THEIR BUTTON THREE TIMES WHILE SHE LAID THERE IN PAIN FOR OVER TWO HOURS AND THEY SENT NO HELP. SHE COULD HAVE DIED BECAUSE THIS COMPANY DID NOT PROVIDE THE SERVICES CONTRACTED.

I’m a Best Buy employee and one of the merchants who selected the Freedom Guardian for the assortment.
What I love about this product is that it is truly one of the most innovative medical alert devices on the market. It has all of the features you would want: reliable emergency response service, GPS location tracking, and reminders & alerts. Unlike other medical alert devices, this smartwatch has a great design and includes features to help aging adults stay active and connected. It also has large buttons, audible alerts, and a long-lasting battery life, making it much easier to use than a traditional smartwatch.
As a call out - there is a required service fee of $49.95/month - but two months of service are included for free with your purchase.

This is a great option for loved ones who are still on the go and active. Many of our customers want peace of mind whether that be in the home or away from home. The watch design supports an active lifestyle or is another solution for customers that don't like a necklace style pendant. It has features that our customers often ask for such as GPS location, ease of use, and emergency response service(s).

This 3G watch needs to upgrade to 4G

This watch requires access to a 3G cellular signal. Since 3G is being phased out this year, I'm surprised that the manufacturer still doesn't have a 4G option for this watch.
My mom had this watch for about 10 months and loved it. It's a sporty looking watch, comfortable, convenient. However, this watch has locked up at least three times and is now not functional, because it cannot receive a 3G cellular signal.

I bought a medic alert pendant for my mom and there is no monthly charge what so ever. It also works in Canada. You press the button and it alerts 911.
