Okay so ima give this bad boy a 4/5. So my controller is perfect with only the smallest but very important defect. And it’s on One of my paddles, the little notch on the paddle that presses down on the button on the back of the controller was a bit to small, like you can use the paddle but you had to press down on the paddle really hard. So instead of taking it back & complaining about it, I did some DIY. I took a small peace of tape & stuck it on the paddle (as seen in the pic) to give the paddle that extra bit of length it needed. And now it works flawlessly ! And just to be super safe I went in the following week after I got paid and brought a 2 year protection plan. So if it does fail, I’m covered !

I purchased an Elite 1 back in June 2019 as a birthday present for myself, over the last couple of months I started to notice the rubber hand grips started to come away from the controller. Was able to exchange for an elite 2 at no extra cost as was the same price of the 1 controller. Was very skeptical of getting it whether it would be missing parts etc. The controller came with original packing and all parts, the only issue was the charge cable was a micro USB instead of a USB C cable, luckily I had a spare from my old phone. Hope plenty of hours of gaming out of this.

Before this controller I had the first version of the elite. The first was nice and all but this second one was much better.
Felt better in my hands, the paddles on the back of the control are easier to use than the pervious, and is also wireless with a good amount of battery life.
Definitely sticking with this controller as it just feels and moves better than the first elite controller.
Love the battery life, the ease of use for paddles, and the grip that it has. Grip in my opinion keeps the controller from getting grimy from all those sweaty games.
Overall, I recommend even with the price pretty high. I have got my money out of it for sure.

The product itself is amazing in my opinion. The original elite controller was great and they expanded on it. Multiple presets and a better feeling hold without the pads ripping off like the original. The paddles aren’t as good as the original’s in my opinion, but I was able to get used to them.
Now the bad. Nothing on the controller itself but on the certified refurbished part. I definitely like saving money so I went for this one. The issue is the A button sticks and the paddles are quite loose. Definitely not a great job on their part.
Overall I recommend this controller, but either by new or new on sale. I wouldn’t trust this certified thing they have going on.

I am not a hardcore gamer, but I do enjoy playing when I can. I used to have the first version of the Xbox Elite controller and I must say I enjoy the subtle differences that make this product more enjoyable to hold. It feels less heavy, the sleek handles fit comfortably in my hands, and the added bonus of saving three different control setting profiles and an internal rechargeable battery make this controller one of the best on the market. I am happy with my purchase and my gaming experience has been made more enjoyable with with controller.

Geek Squad Certified Refurb Is a complete joke. Controller paddles didn't work. Right bumper didn't register anything. It would help If the geek squad actually looked at the stupid thing. It seems nobody cares about doing a good job anymore. I returned this garbage for a refund. Never again.

So to start I ended up returning the refurb I received and just opted to buy a "new" one. As the refurb was damaged and missing one component. Returned to the store was a good experience as always.
Unfortunately best buy was out of the item in new condition when I returned the items so I had to buy from a different local retailer, which I would prefer not to do as bestbuys curbside pick up is great, but it is what it is.
Since it appears that bestbuy doesn't combine reviews for the items I will write a review of the product itself.
As for the product itself I have put in about 300hrs of play time with this controller since I received it. I do not own and xbox so i cannot say how well it works on console.
My experience on PC is that the microsoft software that is needed to "program" the keys is a bit clunky. If you dont have the window sized just right it cuts off options which can be frustrating. This may be because I am using a 60" monitor or something I havent tried it with a normal size monitor.
NOTE for PC users you cannot truly custom remap keys. you can really only move existing buttons around. For example you can make all the buttons X if you wanted. But you cannot use key board keys (letters numbers F# keys) for instance. So make sure you can do what you want with this prior to purchase. The 4 extra buttons on the bottom of the controller are nice and i like that you can change the joysticks. But honestly i dont know if it is really worth the extra $100 compared to a regular controller. Especially since this only comes in black and there are dozens of color options on the standard controller.

The Elite Series 2 controllers are amazing. 40 hour battery life is awesome and the software to customize is a huge advantage. However they have some durability issues. Controller was clean with all accessories and in good working order. As I've played with it over the last few weeks, the RB button is not as responsive and the A button is also starting to miss inputs. This is a known issue with the controller and a big reason why I purchased the warranty with it.

Broke after 2 Months No help with warranty

The right bumper broke after two months. I had a 2 year BBY warranty. The controller is sold out at the store and online. So I left best buy with a broken controller and no replacement. They would not give me my money back. I called Microsoft for their warranty. They transfered me all around an I never got to the right department. I have to schedule a visit with Microsoft and drive to one of their stores if I want anny assistance. This is my 5th Elite controller that has broken. I switched from Sony to Microsoft because of Halo. I am getting the ps5 this year not the xbox series x or whatever in 2020. I have a photo of 3 of the 5 broken controllers surrounded by working controllers attached.

Short: Gambling on what you get. I ordered Two controllers. One good no issues. One bad with a big but fixable issue. Concerning quality control on Best Buys end.
Long: The problem with this it's a gamble on what you get. I ordered two controllers the first one was prefect looked very lightly used if at all. The second one looked decently used some cosmetic flaws and scuffs no big problems. Until I tried to actually use it. I could not plug in the usb c cable to connect my controller let alone charge it. Upon closer inspection I saw the small piece that goes inside the usb c cable completely bent to one side. I wish I took a picture. I struggled to bend it back in place so I can actually connect my controller. I had to use a knife to bend it back in place. The good news it didn't break and still works for now. At least you can rest assured its well built if it can survive that with no other issues. But, this needs to be looked at by who ever is supposed to fix/refurbish the controllers. To make sure this never happens again. Not the end of the world but it is a concerning issue on quality control from Best Buy.

I love my controller. The only fault is the stick drift issue. I’ve had to purchase another controller for this very issue and this makes my third pair.

Well built premium quality controller. I love the feel and heft it has. The rubber grips are great and I love the interchangeable joysticks and adjustable triggers. Also tension adjuster is excellent as well. Did not use the paddles so can’t really speak to those. The magnetic D pad cover is also a nice touch.
However, ultimately I did not end up keeping it and returned it. I just can’t justify spending that much on a controller. I bought this originally for PC gaming but considering half the time I am using mouse and keyboard, I am sticking with the Xbox core controller I bought. But I will say the refurbished condition looked new.
I think $100 would be a more accurate value for this controller.
