Customers highly value the Surface Book 2's ease of use, battery life, and lightweight design. Many appreciate its performance and the versatility offered by the tablet mode and screen size. While some find the price to be high, other criticisms focus on occasional heat issues and the hinge design. Overall, the positive feedback on usability and performance outweighs the negative comments.

Initially I had some hesitations when small things like the pen not pairing were happening but now I love this computer. It meets all my work needs and it’s also handy in tablet mode for my online browsing. I’d recommend this product. I wish Microsoft would make more cases and products available to go with the the surface.

Great 2-in-1 Laptop

I've owned a surface pro tablet for 4 years now, and I thought it was time to upgrade to something with more than 4gb of ram (lol) and a larger keyboard. I like that the surfacebook 2 gives me a similar functionality that I'm used to with the surface pro, but with the added benefit of a larger screen, easier "on-the-lap" use, and a faster processor.
Pros:
+ Nice balance between laptop
and tablet functionality
+ USB type C port as well as USB
3.0 ports
+ Satisfying typing experience
+ Nice battery life, not extraordinary though (roughly 6 to 8 hours on a single charge with heavy web browsing, and while coding in an IDE).
Cons
- Can be a bit top-heavy, since most of the hardware is in the detachable screen/tablet
- Pricey for the specs, it seems like you're paying more for the microsoft/surface brand and not just paying for the hardware (similar issue as apple products)
- Glare from the glass screen

Great laptop for math students

Purchased this laptop to go back to school for a math degree. All of my classes are online. I chose this one because I wanted the ability of a tablet to write out math problems. There are other options for a full size laptop that turns into a “tablet” that are less expensive but I paid extra for this one because the screen disconnects. It’s really light and easy to use. It does not have a long battery life once the tablet disconnects but you can always attach the keyboard back on backwards and fold in all the way closed or use the “easel” option and you have battery again. I can get about 2-3 hours of battery life with the keyboard disconnected. I purchased the surface pen with it as well and love that it magnetizes to the side of the screen. Also if you are between the 13.5in screen and 15in I would choose the 13.5in. The tablet is large and I just can’t imagine needing anything bigger - I think it would be awkward to use if it was any bigger. Overall the laptop seems high grade and will last me the next 3 years to finish my masters and hopefully beyond. I had a MacBook before this and will never go back. Even though I had it for several years I never got used to the operating system. This computer seems the same if not better quality than the apple products and the screen comes off. It really is a cool computer.

I was in the search for a 2-in-1 laptop. I owned an HP laptop for more than 7 years, so I needed to upgrade. After researching and looking through many different brands / models, I chose the surface book based on previous reviews I read and because I am familiar using Microsoft products.
I will start off with the negatives before getting into the positives.
-My first complain is that at this price point, you still have to buy separate attachments if you want to do more with this product. Many laptops come with the pen, but you have to buy one separately for this one, which is like $100. I also had to buy a USB-c to hdmi adapter in order to connect my laptop to my projector.
-Speaking of USB-c, I wish you were be able to charge this laptop using an android charger, given that it fits in that port. That way I wouldn't have to carry the bulky laptop charger around with me. Even if it didn't charge as fast as the laptop charger, it would still be nice to get some charge on the go in case of an emergency.
-Given that I have an Xbox, I am familiar with the Microsoft store, so I knew what to expect in terms of the apps it has and doesn't have. However, it still bothers me that many apps are not included in the Microsoft Store compared to Google Play and the App Store. The apps that are available sometimes don't work either. It's not a huge deal breaker though because I can just use apps on my phone or the internet on the laptop.
Overall, it seems like Microsoft expected you to spend money beyond just buying the laptop itself. From a business perspective, I understand what they're trying to do, and I know most companies do the same. From a consumer's perspective, I don't like it.
The positives definitely outweigh the negatives.
-First, this laptop turns on very fast, within seconds, which is good because we expect technology to be quick nowadays. This would be a great laptop for those people that are impatient because everything runs quickly and smoothly. I have many windows open with many tabs, and I can still search for something or watch videos with no lag whatsoever.
-Perhaps my most favorite thing about this laptop is that it is so versatile! You can pretty much move the screen all around (360 degrees). You can turn the typical 180 degrees, like any ordinary laptop. You can also detach the screen, flip it over and attach it again, and turn it however you want. You can detach the screen and use it as a tablet.
-Speaking of tablet, this laptop has two batteries, which is not heard of often. Apart from the usual battery that a laptop has on the base, the screen itself (when you detach and use in tablet mode), has its own battery. This is awesome because your laptop actually lasts a long time before the next charge. I love not having to constantly charge it, or worry about having to charge it when I'm out of the house.
-It is also awesome when you detach the screen to use it as a tablet because all you do is press a button and it automatically clicks for you to be ready to detach the screen. I don't have to worry about the screen accidentally falling/breaking off from the keyboard, unlike other laptops I have seen. The hinges that connect the screen to the keyboard seem very durable and unique, which I like.
-An extra bonus is that you can actually play Xbox games on this if you own an Xbox. So that is a great option to have if you're on the road and don't want to bring your bulky Xbox with you.
-The screen resolution is awesome and it feels really smooth typing on the keyboard.
-Although I haven't extensively used it or stored much, it has a lot of power. You can casually use it for streaming and general searching, you can game on it using apps or Xbox games, and you can even create using large programs such as photoshop and other music programs.
-It has a front and a rear camera, which is awesome because not all laptops have that feature. It is especially useful if you're using apps that require a rear camera or if you just want to take pictures - adding to the versatility of this device.
Overall, this is an awesome laptop / tablet. There are some little things that bothered me a bit, but the laptop is 5-star worthy. There are many more positives that I can put on here, but this review is already starting to look like a book. I have yet to explore the full potential of the laptop, and that is what excites me about it because it is already a cool device.

My wife had a very specific set of wants in her new work computer. She wanted the functionality of a laptop, a touch screen like the MacBook Pro, the structure of a MacBook Air for traveling, versatility with it being a tablet, the ability to use a pen and write on the screen. So this was the most difficult device to find all the check marks on. This hits them all! It’s fast and easy to use. Highly recommend this device. The only negative, and keep in mind that it doesn’t bother my wife but it does bother me, the front edge of the computer is kind of sharp. Making it uncomfortable for me to use for long periods of time because it cuts into the wrist. All in all, I highly recommend this and am planning to buy another one for my work.

Initially, I was sold the Lenovo 730 Yoga, which was recommended to me by the Best Buy sales person. I had explained to the sales person that I am a therapist and I need to be able to use the tablet feature to electronically hand-write my notes during session but then update my ERP platform using it as a laptop. As it turned out, the Lonovo 730 Yoga did not work for this because it did not always (hardly ever) switch to tablet mode and portrait orientation as I needed it to. Additionally, the sales person sold me stylus that did not work with the Lenovo 730 Yoga. This whole debacle was frustrating because I had a new laptop and stylus that were basically useless to me. However, a representative from the Geek Squad helped me find a laptop, the Microsoft Surface Book 2, that I could purchase in exchange for my Lenovo 730 Yoga. Since using the Microsoft Surface Book 2, it has been seamless in transitioning from tablet to laptop mode and in changing orientation as I need it to. It is not glitchy at all. I like that it's fast and has a ton of storage. Also, my stylus works with it. I like that it's lightweight, so taking it back and forth from the office to home is not cumbersome. It's almost double the price of the first laptop I purchased, but I am glad to have something that works as it should.

The surface book has the best performance. Very lightweight and excellent quality of the build and material. I purchased this to help my kid to take her AP exams and I am glad that I bought it. It worked without any issues and the setup was extremely simple. In fact every windows PC I have found to be simple to configure. The bonus with this surface is that both the device and OS and productivity tools on it are from the same company with the least bloatware and the device works very fast.

I am a big fan of two in one laptops. I prefer touch screen and the ease or portability if I just need the tablet. The laptop operates quickly and hasn't had any issues as it pertains to daily use (emails/internet/video chatting/studying). I have not used it for gaming nor will I. The only problem I have encountered is trying to pair my airpods to it. Every time I try to sync I will need a solid 5-10 minutes for it to work properly. I'm sure there is a fix and I'll be looking into what others said about this as well.

I've owned lots of laptops, but this is by far my favorite. It's everything you could ever want in a general use laptop. It's fast, lightweight, has a bright and brilliant touchscreen, a fantastic keyboard, and great battery life. But its versatility is the kicker. Remove the screen when you need even lighter for making presentations, writing on, or curling up in the bed for a good movie.
Look no further for your next laptop. The Surface Book 2 is the ultimate laptop/2 in 1.

As someone who has always opted for Apple products, this has been one of the best transitions of my life. The laptop's touch screen is seamless for taking notes in my classes. It is also fast, powerful, and easy to use when it comes to the programs and software I have to use for school that I used to run into trouble with on my mac. Would recommend to anyone looking to spend a little more on a laptop. Worth every penny.

Absolutely love it! I chose this version over other Surface Books with more powerful specs because I was looking for a laptop without a fan. This one is silent, and I really don't feel like I compromised on performance at all. We use it daily in all three modes (as a laptop, tablet, and TV) without any complaints. Very lightweight, great sound/color, excellent touch screen.

The Microsoft -Surface Book 2 is just what I need in a laptop computer. The speed and memory are outstanding. I love that I can swipe the screen, use my mouse or use the pen. The screen size is perfect, charging is done very quickly. The computer is very quiet and does not get hot; however the battery charger pack does get hot , but not a problem thus far.

I have been a Surface user since it hit the market. I have enjoyed each of them. I had issues with the battery life on both my original Surface and the Surface Pro3. I also had issues with the USB port becoming loose. With both of my previous Surfaces, I had to use the docking station because the battery would not last long after being fully charged or would not even charge anymore.
My Surface Book 2 has two batteries and will last all day with heavy use. I also appreciate the two USB ports on the keyboard. I enjoy the touch screen, that I have to remember that my office laptop is not a touch screen, which gets a bit annoying.
