I received the Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 as part of Best Buy's TIN program which provides products free of charge for the purpose of writing fair, honest and unbiased reviews. That said, here are my thoughts. Sound quality is excellent, but I must say the bass level does not impress compared to my other set. However, the audio settings can be adjusted via the Surface Audio app which works perfectly in iOS and Android devices. It has an equalizer with several included presets or can manually adjust the Treble, mid range and Bass. Pairing the headset is easy no special instructions needed. Downloading the app is also easy via de QR code included. The build feels solid and smooth good for indoors gaming or video conference. The Touch buttons are quite sensitive as well as the volume and noise canceling dials. It comes with wire to use as a wired headset which is nice, however, the plug does not go all the way in so it's exposed a bit.. see picture. At this price that's a design flaw I think it shouldn't have. Also, the set can't be folded to be carried in compact form like my other set from a different brand. The noise canceling feature is excellent which can enhance outside sounds if needed. It comes with a USB-C charger cable and a fairly large carrying case. All in all, these are not average head set but not the best either.

I received these as part of the Best Buy Tech Insider Program. Reviewers in this invitation-only program are provided products for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased reviews. I have been using the Surface 2 headphones for about a week now, and I previously used the Sony WM-1000XM3 and had various other bluetooth earbud and neckband style wireless earbuds. Overall, the Surface 2 headphones are good, but not great compared to the Sony, primarily for two reasons - comfort (which I realize is very subjective) and active noise cancellation (ANC) performance. Also, the Surface 2 is one of the best headphones I've used for connectivity, with one significant exception. POSITIVES: The product/build quality is excellent and much better than the Sony. The fit/finish and quality of the materials used, with exception of the earpads, is of very high quality. The plastics that are used are all soft-touch and not creaky at all. This is probably the only headphone/earbud I've ever used (and I've used a lot) that has true multipoint connectivity for audio/sound. I can be simultaneously connected to both my phone and my PC and playback audio from either device with no interaction or manual switching back and forth. The headphones can only play from one source at a time (obviously), but they seamlessly and automatically switch back and forth no problem. However I could not get the audio in/microphone to work via multipoint, even after troubleshooting with Microsoft. IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED: The biggest complaint I have is the overall comfort of the Surface 2's on my ears compared to the Sonys. I realize this is highly subjective, since everyone's tolerance level is different, but for me, the headphones are just not comfortable for extended wear compared to the Sony XM3 set I had previously. The earcup padding is stiffer, and overall the size is smaller, so the ear cups are resting on my ear lobes vs. the side of my head with the Sony XM3. The 2nd biggest problem is that the ANC is just not as good compared to the Sony. Microsoft advertises a continuous scrolling wheel to adjust the ANC and volume, and while the volume is infinitely adjustable via the scroll wheel, the ANC is merely stepping through four standard settings and none of them are as good (on a comparative basis). Definitely try these on in store if you can before you buy. Finally, as noted above, I could not get the headphones to pair with my PC such that the mic-in can be used. I tried troubleshooting with MS Tech Support, but the rep basically didn't help and couldn' offer any meaningful fix.

I am working from home and I wanted to get a wireless Bluetooth set of noise canceling headphones that would be comfortable to wear for long periods of time, with a good microphone. The Surface Headphones 2 definitely do not disappoint. I love these cans. The sound quality is superb, plus each headphone has a dial to adjust volume (right) and level of noise canceling and amplification (left). Very cool. The battery life is pretty good, I get around 16 - 17 hours before needing a charge. The headphones have a voice prompt that provides remaining battery life every time I power up, plus I get warnings when the battery is at one hour left and when it is about to run out of juice. Speaking of powering up, there is a conventional power button. Press it to turn the headphones ON, press it to turn them OFF. So simple, yet functional. The headphones can pair with up to 8 devices at a time and can be simultaneously connected to two devices at once. In my case that means its connected to my work laptop and my iPhone. The headphones look great, I have gotten compliments from my wife and several work colleagues who have seen the headphones via video conference calls. Pairing and connecting is drop dead easy. The price is $249, which is more than fair when you factor in all of the benefits. The headphones charge via USB-C, which seems to be the new standard. They come with a good quality hard shell case that will work perfectly when I start traveling again. These headphones are almost perfect. I have no complaints. Buy with confidence!!!

The Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 have quickly become my favorite headphones due to their impressive noise cancelling capabilities and convenient volume knobs. The touch controls are not used as frequently, but the matte black color and good battery life are appreciated. The headphones have lasted through a full day of use, making them a reliable choice for a variety of situations. Overall, the Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 have exceeded my expectations and have proven to be a valuable addition to their audio equipment.

I love the ability to connect to multiple devices and how smart these headphones are to manage incoming audio from different devices. The battery last a long time and it charges super fast with its USBC port. I love how modern and sleek it looks, I have mine since 2020 and I bought a second one as a gift. This is a versatile highquality headphones.

These sound great and the ability to control the volume and noise cancelling by twisting the earcups is fantastic. The battery life is also good on them and the pairing process is very easy. I've had to contact Microsoft for support twice within the warranty period. The first because the rubber on the headband comes unglued and the edges start to come out. They first said this was normal wear and tear but once I explained that I can't really do anything to cause that, they sent me another pair. The second time was due to the headband breaking in half. One day I hear a crack as I was taking them off but on the outside they looked ok. A few days later while taking them off, the headband cracked right down the middle. It was only then that I realized the noise I heard before was an internal part of the headband breaking. It took some arguing to get a replacement pair because this was considered physical damage but me taking them on and off shouldn't cause them to snap. I also read up about this issue online and it seems like a decent amount of people have had this issue. Hopefully this new pair lasts a while.

Pros: At least for me, they are really comfortable. I can wear them for hours on end not feel any pain on my ears or head. The base is superb, and the noise-canceling works extremely well. And being able to control the noise-canceling and volume with physical controls is awesome! Plus you can pair them with multiple sources (though only 2 are connected at any given time). Cons: The batteries don't last as long as advertised. I can get about 12 - 13 hours out of mine before I have to recharge them. That said, they only take about 30-40 minutes to charge fully. In addition, the touch area could use some work. I commonly have to try multiple times when tapping to pause to hit the right spot. Overall these really are fantastic headphones that just have a few hiccups to fix in the next version!

The sony XM's have better sound. But this has a better mic for work and play. Bose 700 would have better sound and a mic that is JUST AS Good as these surface but that price tag for these was 230 vs almost 400 with tax from the bose. I didnt feel comfortable spending that much on something that goes in a bag i take everywhere and could get beat up. I really liked that this headset could be simultaneously connected to my phone and laptop which really won me over. I was like how come this isnt a thing for every high end headset? honestly if the Bose 700 could connect to my Phone, my Laptop and my gaming PC id have splurged and gotten those. But since i already have agaming headset for my PC. These seemed like a great work purchase for my phone and laptop.

I bought these headphones at normal price, which is something I almost never do but I needed these for my remote classes. They do a good job of blocking out noise, but any loud or high pitched sounds will still get through, You have to enable the mic manually through Windows if you want to use it on Zoom calls. When I first purchased in July 2020, the Surface Headphones software in Windows still had some issues. For example, it would lose Bluetooth connection after waking my laptop from sleep mode. I'm happy to report that after some software updates, this no longer happens. Now I'm very happy with my purchase.

I looked at these headphones as a cheaper option compared to the Sony or Bose high end active noise cancelling headphones. A lower cost option was the Razer Opus @ $200 (really liked the sound on those, not comfortable for me during use). Headphones are overall light and comfortable. Earcups are soft, but like most over ear headphones, your ears will get warm/sweaty with longer use. Unfortunately, these headphones do not fold if that is important to you. Carrying case is slim (larger area but thin) so that it does pack easily. I personally notice some discomfort/ear pressure with active noise cancelling headphones, especially at high levels. I was looking specifically at headphones with adjustable ANC and like the adjustable levels on this headset (usually not available on cheaper headsets). Having passthrough/amplified sound as a setting is nice as well. I really like being able to use the dials on either side to adjust volume/ANC. Tapping for phone commands or to control music works fine. Have not tried the included Microsoft Office voice dictation feature but it is something I may use more frequently in the future. Multidevice connectivity is awesome - these are connected to my laptop and phone at the same time. To switch seamlessly between one and the other without doing anything to the headphones (just push play on the other device) is awesome. One personal quibble - sound overall is good, but does not seem to pop as much as I've had with other headsets. Currently playing with the equalizer in the companion app to adjust to my liking. Side note: Bluetooth headphones are not good for gaming headsets, get a dedicated wireless gaming headset instead. Due to problems with how Bluetooth communicates with other devices, sound quality will be poor. Did not realize this before my purchase, but did not buy these headphones for that reason.

I love these. Finally decided to upgrade from my Sennheiser HD 558 and wanted something without a cable to get tangled. I'd say the sound quality one these is just as good, if not better. The noise cancellation is fantastic though. I can't even go back to my old headphones after using these. Even if I'm not listening to music, I keep them on when I'm at my computer just to block out background noise. The battery life is also very good, requiring charging once every 3 to 4 days even with heavy use. They also charger very quickly so I can get another hour or two of use after about 5 minutes of charging.

I love the headphones. They work so well and they feel comfortable. Value-wise, these sound great for most people and come with cool features that other companies usually make you pay more for. Might get a 2nd pair for a friend. I also appreciate they have a good Windows 10 store application in addition to smartphone applications. The application is for equalizer options, setting up Cortana, device management, etc. I'm usually on my Surface Pro a lot, so it's nice to have a dedicated Windows 10 app, which other companies don't offer.

Good sound. Good comfort Good sound isolation. Even with air conditioner blasting. I don’t hear the ac and neither does the person I am talking to. Great for remote conferencing in Microsoft Teams. Best Bluetooth headset I have used when sharing between multiple devices like laptop and phone. However, phone, computer, or headset can still get out of sync. Spin controls are super cool. Touch controls for play/pause are good but can be a little inconsistent.

These are a fantastic headphones. The noise cancellation is superb. The twist volume and noise cancellation mechanics are simple and feel great to use. The microphones pick up voice clearly for calls. They are really comfortable and I even use these when playing my classical guitar through them. With the noise cancellation, you feel as though you are in a studio. They sound great. Nothing can beat their functionality.

The best thing about the Surface Headphones 2 is their usability. Love the control dials and that they work so smoothly. Sound is just fine, not amazing (but I am comparing to some of the better wireless headphones out there). There’s enough bass for those who want it. But I listen to a range of music, including classical, and would like more clarity with strings and wind instruments. I think they would be decent for most pop and r&b music. Microphone is great for calls, super clear. Noise cancelling works well. For me, they’re a little too tight on my ears (more an issue of the shape of my head I think) so not the most comfortable. Nevertheless, I think if they fit you well, I think you’ll enjoy these headphones, especially during these home working times!
