Great laptop. It’s fast and efficient. Sleek design and light weight. Easy to use and navigate where you need to go. Backed by a great company-Microsoft. So happy I chose those over a MacBook.

Great Laptop, Disappointing Screen Durability

Great laptop - performs well, sleek design, lightweight. However, I've only had the laptop for less than 45 days and I've already noticed a slight crack in the screen. Apparently, this is fairly common between the Surface 3 and Surface 4 laptops. Reaching out to Microsoft for service/replacement. Not eligible for return at Best Buy (most products are given a 15 window for returns).

Love the laptop. Especially the trackpad. The keyboard was all right, though the color of the plastic looked a bit dated compared to the rest of the design. The hinge is a waitlist design so you can pick it up without lifting the whole laptop. Battery life worked as expected. My only complaints, and the reason I returned it, was that it costs about twice as much as it should for how much hardware is underneath the hood. If I cared enough about design I would have kept it, because it was very nice, I just couldn't justify it with Black Friday and other sales.

After several years using a Surface Pro 4, upgrading to this Surface Laptop has been the best decision. It suits perfect for my work and personal use. The battery lasts for more than 3 hours working. The startup speed is more than awesome.

Had the computer for a few months while the feel and performance of the laptop are great it is extremely fragile. I am not kidding a coin fell on the screen while it was open and cracked it. Useless unless you have a docking station/monitor. Make sure you get the extended warranty on this.

Very good. One thing, the color of letters on the keyboard I feel is a design flaw... Grey letters on silver keyboard... Not that easy to see.

Finally... a Windows laptop perfect for me

I have been looking for a good Windows laptop for many years, different manufacturers, many returns to Best Buy. I wound up switching to Macbooks because although the laptops I had been been buying had some of the features I wanted, most of them let me down with crappy trackpads. Seemd no Windows laptops manufacturers could rival the almost-alien but exceptional palm-rejection of the Macbooks. I have very big hands and I couldn't find a laptop with a trackpad with palm-rejection good enough where the cursor didn't bounce around as I typed. Until now. Also the feel of the trackpad surface feels like Gorilla-glass-- a very smooth, responsive, comfortable experience.
Although I think this laptop is probably a little overpriced, what you get for the money is a fantastic experience. The touchpad is a class act-- like my Macbook Air-- no unintended movement-- rock solid. I know Microsoft is competing directly against the Macbooks in this category, and that stiff competition forced them to produce this marvelous machine. I grew up with Windows machines and preferred them because there are things about the Mac operating system I can't seem to get used to. Finder in Mac OS confuses me and when I save a file I can't often tell whether I saved it to the computer or the cloud or some weird limbo area I can't see. And I hated the fact that you can't close an app on the Macbook by clicking on the red X-- it's still running in the background. But because I couldn't find a Windows machine as well built as the Macbooks, I put up with it. I'm so glad to have this machine now. The taller screen is great for my writing, and has beautiful colors, easy on my older eyes even with the resolution lowered. I am a big stickler regarding keyboards--and the feel of this one is perfect- even better than the Magic Keyboard on the 2020 M1 Macbook Air I sold. Some have described this keyboard as mushy. I don't feel that-- I feel it's got just the right amount of comfortable feedback that makes you WANT to type on it. And the fact that it's backlit is the icing on the cake.
The laptop is quiet-- I don't hear the fan much except if I'm charging it and also downloading programs at the same time. The 15-inch size is perfect for my large hands-- they aren't cramped or make me feel like my left wrist is going to fall off the end of the wrist rest, like some other 15.6 inch laptops with number pads. I do miss having a separate number pad, but it's ok-- Macbooks don't have it either.
I got the Microsoft Surface 4 rather than the Surface 5 -- I wanted the one with the Ryzen 7 processor because battery life is more important to me, and Best Buy is still selling them new. But performance is great-- never had any lagging with any of the programs that I run. I'm not a gamer so having integrated graphics is fine for me too.
Seems with the Surface Laptop Microsoft made the laptop with the hardware meant to showcase the Windows experience, where the hardware works well with the software and doesn't get in the way. So I just want to say, Good Job, Microsoft. This is how Windows computers ought to be. Other Windows laptop manufacturers can take a page from your book because some of us DON'T want to compromise. If I find I don't use the Macbooks any more they'll go up for sale, as I may be back to Windows for good. If you want a Windows machine and you can afford a Surface Laptop-- figure out which one you need according to the specs, and buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Got mine as an open-box deal, absolutely can't imagine ever beating the price+performance+experience. Best laptop I've ever used for daily driving. Just a top-notch experience all the way around. The trackpad is by far and away the best I've ever used. Touchscreen is way more useful than I imagined. Keyboard is fantastic. Screen is beautiful. Sturdy build quality. All of it has been A+. Only thing that I don't like is lack of ports, but I knew that going in and the entire experience is worth it.

The Microsoft Surface is an excellent device.
It is the Apple of the Laptops this size.
The keyboard is very comfortable.
Microsoft does a fantastic job of making everything fit perfectly with the 15 inch screen.
It is lightweight, so if you do need something lightweight to carry with a lot of speed this is the laptop to get.

A Light Big Screen Laptop That's Ideal for Work

We needed to replace my wife's aging Surface Laptop, and without hesitation we opted to stick with this model -- although we switched from black to platinum. This laptop is perfect if:
* You want a larger screen computer but don't want to lug around a brick. This is a sleek yet solid machine, and it only weighs 3.4 pounds. It's a mobile, easy-to-carry big screen laptop.
* You're using it primarily for word processing, spreadsheets, web browsing, email, presentations and other routine office functions. It's not ideal for heavy-duty video editing or gaming.
* You want a solid, upper tier laptop but don't want to pay premium prices for the more upscale Dell XPS 15-inch or a 16-inch MacBook Pro.
My wife has a hybrid work arrangement, splitting her time between working from the office and home. So, she needed a workhorse laptop that also wasn't going to be like carry rocks in a bag. This laptop has been ideal.
I was concerned about the AMD Ryzen chip. We've been Intel and Apple silicon loyalists. But this chip has been a revelation. It's been quick and easily able to handle the workload.
I'm sold on Surface Laptops.

Fast and beautifully made! The screen is gorgeous. The keyboard is amazing. Battery life is exceptional. This is a huge quality upgrade from last year's model, which I also own and which was disappointing. An incredible machine.

It's been about a month and the device is powerful. I took a shot at using this as my driver in my IT courses and it's blazing fast and efficient. I have the AMD Ryzen chip which is great for multitasking and it does JUST THAT.
Windows 11 is also super aesthetic and functional.
The battery life is exceptional. I get a good 8-9 hours straight browsing, working and playing music at the same time!
Streaming is about 5-6 which is still considerable.
I do wish the camera was higher than 1080p; however, it's a tank. It's definitely a good in between for casual users and school or business users.

I love and adore this laptop so freaking much. My previous laptop was a HP Pavillion 15" and this one is above and beyond miles better! The speakers are really nice and clear even at the highest volume level. While this laptop is not cheap; Best Buy often has discounts making this laptop more affordable than buying it directly from Microsoft. If you are debating between buying this and the Surface 5 I would recommend you get the Surface 4 instead. The specifications are nearly identical but the 4 has better battery life is lighter than the 5.

One of the best laptops I’ve had. The face id makes it very easy to open up and use. Very sleek, kind of heavy to carry around in your backpack all day, but lighter than most laptops.
