This is a really nice laptop. Not what I expected from a Microsoft Surface, which used to be basically an over-sized tablet. This is a full-on laptop. The keyboard is bigger than most of the other laptops I looked at, which is really nice. The screen is huge compared to my last laptop. Edge-to-edge screen! It has the AI (Copilot) feature which I haven't used much yet, but I think will be really cool once I really start to use it.

Love the display and speed of this laptop. Had the Surface Pro Tablet in the past and love the keyboard of this Laptop.
Great size for my use, was fast and easy to set up. Happy with my purchase and would purchase it again.

The laptop is fine. As always, the transition to a new operation system, in this case, Windows 11, is a major pain in the you know what. The reason I picked this is the battery is supposedly easy for the user to replace. The battery replacement on my old Surface Pro was definitely not user friendly. That battery indicated that it was time to be replaced by popping the screen loose from the device.

My first Microsoft laptop. Overall this laptop feels great. Very well built quality. Good battery life. I currently also own a MacBook Pro and I like Microsoft keyboard better than mackbook pro. Display is good however mackbook pro has better screen display.

This has been a great device so far. I am upgrading from a Surface Laptop Studio which I also loved but I no longer needed a graphics card, and I was looking for something a little lighter and with better battery life to travel with.
The battery has been everything it was hyped up to be, I go multiple days without charging and when I shut the lid, I know I will only lose 1-2% even if I open it multiple days later.
The overall performance is great, and general usability has been noticeably snappier when starting the device, opening programs, and just switching around apps.
The improvements in repairability are also a great addition here, it is super simple to open the device (Just 4 screws under the removable feet and a magnetic bottom plate, no glue at all) and the 2230 size SSD is easy to swap for a larger one on the base model like I did.
As far as program compatibility goes, as a software engineer, I am a bit more ambitious in finding workarounds for the software I need but that being said, not everything is perfect. While nearly all the tools I use have a native ARM version (nodejs, visual studio 2022, vscode) and others can be run using WSL2 (nvm and many other tools that only have Linux versions and not Windows on ARM yet), the emulation can be funky. Emulating x86 and x64 programs is usually fine, I can even run some games like Subnautica at 60+ fps, but others can hang and run a bit slow overall. I experienced frequent hangs and freezes with Mozilla Thunderbird but most of the time even if something doesn't work, I can find a native ARM alternative.
Another thing to note is that while the screen had a 120Hz refresh rate on my previous Surface Laptop Studio, it had an almost obnoxiously slow response time and ghosting that did start to annoy me, it didn't feel nearly as responsive as 120Hz should, but this doesn't seem to have that problem. Still not the fastest display but not nearly as noticeable as it was previously. The haptic touchpad is also still amazing, best I have used on a windows device.
Lastly, port selection is decent enough for a slim laptop. I enjoy the addition of the magnetic Surflink connector and a USB Type A port which I missed on my previous laptop. The USB4 (Type C) ports do seem to be limited to ~65W charging though (the SLS would do 100W over the Type C ports) but it still seems to charge just as quickly.
Overall, if you have a few programs that you absolutely cannot live without, make sure they have native ARM versions, or at least that they work well through emulation. Windows on ARM is nearly there but if you want to be sure that *everything* works then you'll want to stick with an x86/x64 laptop (Intel Lunar Lake laptops are looking pretty good) but if you can accept using a few alternatives then this is an awesome device that I couldn't recommend enough.

Build quality on this is top of the line. As good if not better than previous apple computers I have used/owned. Battery life is some of the best I have ever seen for light work. Basically, I don't have to worry about battery unless I have to run something more taxing without being plugged in. I love the screen resolution and color. Very sweet that it is also touch screen, though I don't use it as often as I thought. Might just have to get used to it being an option for navigation. Nice to have when I'm scrolling a long document or web page.
This laptop is great for business/office 365 related work. There are some program compatibility issues given this is an ARM architecture device. No real deal breakers for me though. Limitations here should lessen over time.
I would not buy this if you wanted to play any games on it. XBOX only runs cloud games, and I have not tried to install steam games but have heard there are many games that are not compatible.
I bought the base model and also got a good deal on a 1 TB ssd upgrade to save some money overall. 256 is just not enough for me because I deal with a lot of files at once. 256 might be enough for you if you are a heavy OneDrive user. Having the option to make upgrades like this on these types of laptops seems to be less and less common and it is really nice to see here.
I forget about copilot often but when I do decide to use it, it's so fast and feels more personalized when compared to the web version or non-copilot+ computers I have used. If you have a use case for using copilot for creativity and editing communications, this is pretty sweet. Slightly scary but cool... I guess.

My laptop is great! I type a lot for work, personal & school tasks. The keys on this caption are easy to use. There’s a flow that I haven’t noticed with other laptops. The spacing of the keys, is perfect & the feel is soft yet sturdy. Also, the laptop itself is fairly lightweight; therefore I can carry it comfortably as I go about my day. I even take it with me to the office along with my work laptop in my book bag & barely feel a difference in the weight. The battery life is remarkable! I really appreciate that I don’t have to go searching for my charger after just an hour or so into using it. The screens are pleasant on the eyes & transitions well from one to another.

Very excited about this purchase and can’t get over how beautiful the device is. My partner asked why we needed one when we already have a desktop computer with a nice monitor. I still don’t have a great answer besides, “this one is portable. I can use it on the couch, at the kitchen island, etc.” Now that I have it I can’t stop using it. Need to follow a recipe? Look how much better it looks on a laptop than on my small phone. Need to do some research for a new vacuum of a vacation? Need to order groceries for pick up? The answer is it always looks so much better on my laptop than it does on my phone. Also surprised that because I’m using my laptop more, I’m using my phone less — no duh. But it’s interesting because when I’m using my laptop it is for a specific task so I’m more focused and present and enjoying it. Whereas when I try to do the same task on my phone I get interrupted by notifications or I get sucked into scrolling on social media. So, yes, I’m delighted by a laptop. Other things to note: the screen is beautiful, the keys and trackpad are delectable, the speed is top notch, and the Windows operating system is very user friendly. Lastly, excited to do more with the AI features.

This is an excellent device that offers great value. It is easily one of the best Windows machines in its class and trades blows with its Apple competitor in display quality (you get a touchscreen as a nice bonus), superlative haptic touchpad, snappy performance in everyday tasks, face recognition sign-in features, and impressive battery life.

I use a Windows desktop as my daily driver but haven't been able to find a laptop that gets me through the day. For the past year I've been using a MacBook Pro (M3 Pro) and while the battery life was incredible, MacOs isn't my cup of tea. This Surface Laptop has changed the game. Awesome build quality, wakes from sleep extremely fast, incredible battery life and is great for productivity on the go. I bought the 16gb RAM version as I will just be using it for Excel, Outlook and a couple SaaS apps. The one area it could be better is the speakers. There is no comparison between my MacBook Pro and the Surface...Mac wins by far. That being said, I bought this for productivity and the speakers have fine for Teams calls. I'm so glad Microsoft was able to create a true MacBook Pro competitor.

I had an emergency “need a new laptop today” situation and chatted with a rep online to help me select one. I love the screen! It is fast. The problem is that some aspects do not function properly. For example, the file explorer freezes up constantly and the entire laptop has to be restarted. Additionally, certain photoshop brushes are not compatible with snapdragon. As I’m a photographer, that’s a big problem.

Very sleek and impressive build laptop. However there is just something about size -- compared to previous laptop 4, 5 that is a bit off kilter. The display is A+, the keyboard is very nice to type on and the trackpad is response. The only problem I had was running a few programs that are not optimized for ARM and that is why I returned the unit. For right now I would stick with intel unit.

A great update to the Microsoft Surface laptop series of computers. I am writing this review on the laptop itself. The MSL7 15 inch baseline model is a great device to purchase now that it includes 16GB of RAM by default. The battery life is great (but doesnt quite catch up to a MacBook Air/Pro). The display is really good and I love that I can upgrade the SSD to a larger drive if I wanted to. As a competitor to the MacBook Air, I would say that the only thing it fails in is battery life but it is still miles ahead of prior Surface devices. The typing experience is great. Any issues with the computer are going to be due to Windows and not the hardware itself. If I could improve the Surface laptop line in any way, I would reduce the price some to be closer in line to other Windows laptop manufacturers.

My son purchased the 15" version after I bought the 13" one for my daughter in college. The smaller laptop vs. pro was her preference for school as the pro is too cumbersome to use on your lap. I was a little hesitant to get her a Copilot+ version as my son was not convinced it had come into its own.
My son wanted this laptop for school vs a gaming laptop because the latter so often overheat. So far he is delighted with the speed of the Snapdragon X Elite, the steady temperatures and the battery life is as promised. I will update review if this changes.
