I wanted an iPad Pro + Apple Pencil but I needed a new laptop. This is an excellent compromise. The touch screen + stylus are very responsive, the battery life is decent (not Apple level), and the build quality is great. The display is excellent: 2400x1600 is an odd resolution but I think it's underrated for laptops and it's 120hz. Sound is pretty good considering it's a laptop and I/O is decent but lacks USB-A and any kind of video output. For my use case, it's near perfect. That said, here are the downsides: 11th Gen Intel processors are not a great value. Taking it apart to upgrade the SSD for example is not a simple process. This laptop is not repair friendly. Surface Studio Laptops are not one of the popular Surface variants. You won't easily find skins or USB-C hubs that are built for it the way you might for other Surface models. It might be worth it to get the version with the discrete GPU if you can afford it. It will increase weight and reduce battery life, but the Iris XE graphics leave a lot to be desired (it's sufficient for drawing with the stylus). However, that affordability is hurt by the fact that you have to buy the stylus separately. It does not charge very quickly. Doesn't come with Windows 11 Pro which might be a problem for some.

Great laptop, screen size, and touch screen. Mouse pad has a left and right click, instead of one click throughout the whole pad (if that makes sense). Charges fairly quick. A little heavy but manageable carrying it around. Only two USB-C, no USB-A. So, buy an adapter if needed.

Using the Microsoft Surface Studio laptop has been a game-changer for me. The i5 and Iris Xe are a decent combination together. You can edit wix, webflow, wordpress, drupal, divi, and etc. Run desktop software for photo/video editing no problems. My other Legion 5 with a ryzen 7 rtx 3050ti 8gb outperforms this surface by about a second on most loads. It was also on sale for $949 so about $450 cheaper. So I'd say perfomance meet color, versatility, and color spec vs price it's still overpriced. I am able to have multiple browser tabs open whenever I have client run remote desktop (screen shares) open for trouble shooting or quick projects. Seems like cheap charging cord with only 65w. I guess thats all it can handle? But I can forsee this cord getting pinched and broke. Only comes with two usb c thunderbolt ports so basically the additional docking station is a must. Priced at over $100 but I say it's worth it! Same with getting the surface mouse ($34). It syncs automatically with the device. No usb or having to go into bluetooth settings, it just turns right on out of the box like they were meant to be together (they are). Smooth aluminium finish. Weight doesn't bother me, rather I feel it gives it a sturdier more tuffness to it. Doesnt make it seem so brittle for as flimsy as it needs to be for the flexibility. It's worth it all in all in the long run that is if I can upgrade the graphics card myself. I'll be finding out.

I recently bought this laptop as an open box product and it is awesome. I'd only suggest buying it though if you plan to use it in various modes, as that is the main highlight of the product. You'd also need to buy the Surface Pen (not included) if you want to take advantage of all of the fun drawing and sketching capabilities, the cool part is it just charges in the front bottom part of the laptop and it'll just suck it in like magnets. Performance wise this laptop is great - i5 - 11th Gen, 16GB RAM and this version came with 256GB storage. Major downside for me was the weight. A lot heavier than the other ultraportables out there so make sure you'll use the various modes!

The SLS has the best of all worlds: the familiar shape of a laptop, the better tablet mode than the Surface Book, and an inmovative drawing mode that is a hybrid of the regular Surface. Even the basic model packs some decent power. But the upgradeability leaves a lot to be desired.

I have had 0 issues with this laptop. It’s sturdy, but has a sleek design. I use this all day for work 9-5p and it never seems to struggle although I have 15 different tabs open at all times. Lastly, I recommend buying a separate multiport adapter.

This thing is magnificent. I actually got the surface pro first but I didn’t satisfy with the quality so I paid more and exchanged with this studio. And I just did the right thing.

Pros: - Best-in-class Windows Hello facial recognition. It's much faster than several laptops from other brands I've tried. This is a very important feature for me but strangely, most reviews don't mention it. On some laptops, I have to sit there, move my head around and bob it in and out for the camera to recognize me. With the Surface line (both this laptop as well as the Surface Pro that I've tried), the camera recognizes me near instantaneously. My computer is usually ready to go before I've actually fully settled into my chair! This is actually one of the main features that tipped me to Microsoft over Apple. - Best-in-class haptic trackpad. Although it could be a bit larger, it works great and I like the feel better than Apple's haptic trackpads. It's quite appalling that so few Windows laptops have haptic trackpads when even the cheapest MacBooks have had them for quite some time. Props to Microsoft on this. - Best-in-class keyboard. I can't pinpoint the exact reason(s), but I love the overall feel of Microsoft keyboards. I like them way more than the MacBook keyboards I've tried. - Innovative design. I occasionally go to tablet mode to draw with the stylus, or flip the screen around when watching shows / movies. This capability, while cool, adds a lot compromise (cost, weight, thickness) so I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you don't intend on using these features. - Minimal bloatware. Cons: - The proprietary charging port. This is an utter waste which adds unnecessary cost to the product. My charger has never even been unboxed. I only charge my electronic devices with USB-C. I don't want another fricking charging cable that only works with one device. - USB-C connector on only one side. Because I only charge with USB-C, I want at least one USB-C connector on EACH side of the laptop. There is always going to be variability as to which side of the laptop the outlet is on. This is a very basic and obvious usability feature that surprisingly few companies get right. - Poor battery life. You don't want to be far from an outlet for long. - Heavy and thick. I get that this is a necessary compromise due to the unique hinge design but this is nevertheless a con. I've owned my Surface Laptop Studio for over 1.5 years. While it has significant downsides, it also excels in many areas. The innovative screen / hinge design comes at a large price premium, but I unfortunately have not used that feature as much as I thought I would. I'm thus not sure if I would purchase the product again as I'd be compromising a lot for a feature I don't use that often. That being said, I would actually recommend this product IF you intend to utilize the screen / hinge functionality. If you're not going to use that functionality, or will only use it rarely, this might not be the best laptop for you. Areas where this laptop excels are the super-fast Window Hello facial recognition, haptic trackpad, and excellent keyboard, all of which can all be found in the significantly cheaper Surface Laptop. The Surface Laptop may very well be my next laptop (the ARM version; screw Intel), but only if Microsoft gets rid of their stupid proprietary charger and puts a USB-C on the other side of the laptop!

This laptop is compact, sleek, and fast. It’s been amazing for a summer in college on the go, traveling, camping, you name it. I prefer it to the MacBook. The collapsing screen makes it easy to jot notes, or do art. The battery lasts, and it’s comes back to a full charge in 30 minutes. Super clear picture when taking a break to stream a show. Might be my favorite purchase ever.

I have had this computer roughly 4 months now and I cannot say enough great thinks about it . It’s quick , easy to use , well built and the speakers and display are superb . After a string of bad HP and Toshibas I think Microsoft surface has a buyer for life

I really like this laptop. Very premium feel, fast, and to me, beautiful. I also love the versatility of it. I'm a big fan of the Surface Book and I'm sad to see it go, but I think this is a great successor to it. This thing is so quiet, stays warm and performs well. It does however have a little weight to it it you want to hold it as tablet, it's best to place it on a flat surface or your lap if you plan to us it in that position. The screen is somewhat more reflective than I'd like. Battery life is pretty good, unless you're doing extreme editing. Overall this is a great product all around, I'm glad I purchased it.
