This has been a very good buy. I have been looking for a tablet that would satisfy all my needs and this is it. I do a lot of my work on the go so it is important to have something with good portability and long battery life and this is it.

Upgraded from first gen surface pro 128gb to the surface pro 4. The device is thinner and lighter weight. Screen is wider with buttons on top instead of the sides. I like the convenience of these surfaces with its own built flap stand. The microsd port still exists behind the flap. I’m glad that it still has at least one USB port, but wish there were 2. I prefer the touch cover for the surface pro 4 compared to the first gen touch covers. Being able to sense the keys and clicks makes it much easier/quicker to type. Never found the need for the stylus, but nifty for graphic designing. The best tablet I’ve used and perfect for my needs. I disliked the surface RT and couldn’t work with tablets that are app based only. Needed to install software and compatible with chrome. I would recommend this device.

It seems like the big question right now is, "Do I get the Surface Pro 4 or the Surface Book?" I'll explain why I chose the Surface Pro 4, but first, a quick about me. I am a college student majoring in EECS and I commute 4 hours a day by bus so having a light backpack is important to me. The S.Book is almost two times heavier than the SP4. It packs much more computing power than the SP4, but as an EECS major, I don't need the extra power that the S.Book has. I don't plan to play any intensive games or render/animate things so the SP4 fits my needs better. The S.Book also has a $400 higher price tag ($270 if you get the Type Cover for the SP4) that I'm not willing to pay for unneeded performance. I haven't tried the S.Book's keyboard, but the SP4's keyboard feels great to type on and other reviewers have said both keyboards are amazing. Reading textbooks or other PDF's feels much more natural with the SP4's tablet form. The S.Book without the keyboard only has a battery life of 3 hours, and although it can be used with the keyboard 'wrapped' around the back, I think that it'll only be a hassle for me to deal with. I'd rather not deal with having to detach the S.Book every time I want to use it in tablet mode. If you plan to render/animate things you should probably consider going with the Surface Book. Otherwise, I highly recommend the Surface Pro 4 for doing everyday/light to medium tasks. Now onto the actual Surface Pro 4 Review. I love the SP4. In the past year, I've owned an iPad Air, MacBook Pro, and the Razer Blade 2015. The SP4 fits my needs the best by far. The SP4 replaces both my textbooks and notebooks. For me, this is a big deal because I no longer have to carry around my notebooks, textbooks, and supplemental writing materials (highlighters, etc). The Surface Pen tips can be replaced with other pen tips to change the writing "feedback" feeling but the stock pen tip feels great. OneNote keeps all my notes organized and being able to access them from any device is incredibly convenient. Using the Surface Pen for writing on textbooks and PDF's is also very useful. I've been getting ~7-9 hours of battery life on the SP4 which is more than enough to get me through a school day. The screen is not too small like the iPad, neither is it bulky like a laptop. The screen resolution is high and text/videos are crisp and easy to read/watch. The magnet on the left side of the SP4 is surprising strong and holds the Surface Pen well. The magnet on the right side is significantly weaker (maybe because all the I/O ports are on this side) but it can hold the pen well. The kickstand works perfectly and stays in the position I set it to. The SP4 Type Cover feels great and protects your screen when you aren't using it. Gaming shouldn't be the main reason you buy the SP4, but it could run some games if you decide to do so. I did try running StarCraft II and Heroes of the Storm and the SP4 handled it pretty well. I wouldn't even bother trying to run more demanding games such as GTAV on the SP4. That being said, the gaming experience was rather unpleasant. You should consider the Surface Book if you plan to game on-the-go frequently. Software-wise, I don't have much to comment on. It looks and performs exactly like Windows 10 should on a normal desktop or laptop. I've never used the Microsoft Store and don't intend to so I don't know much about the apps that are available on the SP4. The only con I found with this device is the fact that it only has a single USB port. It's inconvenient when I'm using the SP4 with a mouse and I need to use my flash drive. I haven't had any overheating issues and I can't find any issues with the build quality. In closing, I don't think anyone else offers the performance and quality that the Surface Pro 4 has in the same lightweight and thin chassis. It is incredibly versatile and it has replaced many heavy and cumbersome objects in my bag.

Got this to handle simple applications and works amazingly well. Nothing you want to use for serious computing but handles normal applications I use for work well. It is light and easy to carry around. Makes it great to do a quick presentation while walking and showing someone something. I was between this and the Macbook. I don't like the new Macbook keyboard due to a short travel in the keys. The keyboard here has a very satisfying feel when pressing the keys. The ability to use it as a laptop and tablet and be able to switch between both is really nice.

I had to upgrade from my Surface Pro 3. Got it stolen in Oakland. Best Buy had THE BEST price on it. Combo 128G Surface Pro 4, i5, 6th gen + keyboard for $749!!! I’m almost happy my SP3 was stolen. My new Surface Pro 4 is light years better than my last one. Noticeably faster processing. Digital pen is lots more reactive. SP4 keyboard is way better than SP3 keyboard. (Not very noticeable just typing in store. It really became apparent after owing SP4 for a couple of weeks). Overall I really love my new Surface Pro 4.

My need for a light and powerful mobile device was solved with this little gem! The quick login ability is nice when you need to quickly access documents or take some quick notes. I was a bit worried about the kickstand but have grown to like it, especially for sketching and artwork. Powerful enough to run some development tools and still kick out some tunes. Considering buying another for use by our Computer Science college student.

I bought this as more of a laptop than anything else since my personal laptop is about 7 years old... it was just time to upgrade. When the Surface Pro's came out a few years ago I was interested, but didn't want to run in to some potential problems with the newness of the system. I don't think there were any issues originally when they first came out, but I can definitely say there aren't any issues with this model at all. This specific Surface Pro is fantastic. The speed is great, the batter life is great, the monitor clarity and color is fantastic, and the easy of moving this thing is off the chart. It blows away any personal laptop out there. I even use this for work when I need to. I had our IT person download the cloud to it in case I needed to work from home and it works flawlessly. I don't even bother taking my work laptop home any more. This thing is fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering a personal laptop or even a lower/medium end laptop. I'm not too techy so I can't speak on this compared to a high end laptops, but I would definitively put this surface pro up against anything. I love it and definitely recommend it.

My college class required students to have a windows computer so I went out and bought a surface pro. Well, also bc my other tablet and pc was broken so it was a good timing. And this tablet in my opinion works better than mac computers since I can use access and excel, touch the screen, and etc. the only thing I am having trouble with is the touchpad and the keyboard. It does not let me click just by tapping or how the Ctrl key is so far away which really bothers me... but I guess I should just get used to it.

As a junior in college this is the best laptop I've used yet. I can take notes in pdfs. It's fast so lightweight I can barely feel it in my backpack. I also have the bamboo pen that is sold separately and I highly recommend it. With the pen I am able to do so much more.

If you got the 4gb version. I recommend googling steps to reduce ram usage. I used to sit around 60% usage idling st the desktop but after some changes I now only idle at 40% usage. Web browsers are noticeably quicker on some more demanding websites.

I have owned an iPad Mini for quite a while and enjoy it, but it doesn't support Adobe Flash, and that is necessary for my college coursework. I love the facial recognition software and how easy it is to verify through alternative means if it doesn't recognize me fast enough. The SP4 is light enough to make toting it around campus a breeze.

I bought this tablet because I am a digital artist and I wanted to have portable device I could use to draw on the go. So far it's fast, compatible with the art software I use, and functions just like any other standard laptop.
