We purchased this for hurricane Irma's imminent impact on our area. I'm a paramedic and was on duty during the entire storm. I wanted to give my family every opportunity to keep informed of weather hazards. The lithium ion battery in the unit lasts FOREVER. It has held a charge in stand by mode for just over a month now. You can charge with a mini USB, hand crank, or, the built in solar panel. Along with the lithium ion battery, you can install AA batteries. There is a little toggle switch to switch between the two. It's small, and slightly hard to get to you have fat fingers like I do, but, it's do able. It has AM, FM, and dedicated weather bands. In standby mode, when a weather alert is issued, everyone in your ZIP code will be made aware when the alert goes off. I think a few dead people woke up in the nearby cemetery. The built in LED flashlight is NUTS. That thing is so bright you might think the sun is out if you put it outside your window. This thing is incredibly rugged as well. What's the first thing my son does when I'm reading the manual? (He's 2 mind you) He picks it up and before I can say anything, he throws it across the room. Not even a single scratch. The telescopic antenna is another story. That didn't last very long before the top 2 portions broke off. The unit still works great, but the only complaint I have is the flimsy antenna. If you live in an area prone to severe weather, you need this. If you have family who live in severe weather prone areas, you need to buy this for them. This is a great product.

My weather radio was old, so I decided to get a new one. I liked that the ER310 had power options of solar, crank and batteries. The size is great as is the flashlight. Also included is a dog whistle in case you are buried under debris and need to alert search and rescue. Hopefully I'll never need to really use ti, but it is ready in case of emergency.

I have had this radio for about 5.5 years now, and I have
found it to be solid and reliable. I live in a region that has
a number of tornado alerts each year, as well as other
weather related alerts. This radio does a very good job
of providing warnings, and monitoring the situations as
they are in progress. I am impressed by how long the
battery holds its charge (when not in use). I top it up
about every 6 months. This is a very good choice as
an emergency weather alert radio.

Haven't had this that long but so far I have no complaints. Charged quickly and has held the charge for a couple weeks now without diminished battery power. AM/FM and WX Radio all work great. Flashlight is great addition. I guess the dog whistle works,...I can't hear it but the dog looks at me crazy when I turn the whistle on, so, I guess it works! Great little emergency radio.

Purchased this to have in for general and emergencies. I like that you can hand crank to charge it, flashlight, weather, and an external antenna. I haven’t used it too much, but so far works great.

As a resident of Florida living near the Gulf of Mexico, we have to be ready with this type of product! This thing is great! Multiple ways to charge it and to charge other things (like phones!). Radio is great with many bands, including weather. Plus it has a flashlight with multiple settings and a dog whistle!

Nice to have item. It's much bigger than I thought it would be, about the size of a break but maybe about 1.5 as long. Doesn't not fit easily into a backpack. I like that it has multiple power sources. There's a hand crank, lithium battery, regular batteries (not included) and a solar panel. Also has a flashlight and a "dog whistle". We have gotten weather alerts on it, the alarm surprised us the first time. Over all, it's a nice to have item.

This is no audiophile's dream, but it's not being marketed as such. This is a radio you want to have around in case there's an emergency and might not have any other way to get information. The display isn't very good. It looks washed out from most angles, but you should still be able to read fine. The digital turner is nice so you don't have to tweak a knob trying to tune into stations. You can even set the NOAA weather band to tune into the frequency, although I think those stations are fixed so going by channels should be sufficient. When you you turn on weather alerts, it doesn't turn on the weather radio. It sounds an alarm and flashes the light for one minute. The alarm sounds like a car alarm. You can stop it by hitting any button which they all seem to turn on the weather radio. It is possible to turn off the weather alerts, although the manual seems to indicate that you might not be able to turn everything that triggers the alarm. I haven't looked into that too much, but many of the triggers probably won't occur, but would be good to get the alert.
The "SOS" light technically flashes SOS, but most people probably won't be able to tell. It will probably look like a strobe light to them. That should si get the attention of most people.
I don't have any way to test the dog whistle, so can't give any feedback on that.
There is a USB port to charge devices, but I wouldn't rely on this to keep your phone charged during an extended power outage. Yes, there is a hand crank and solar panel to charge the internal battery, but I don't think either will be sufficient to keep a phone charged. They're probably meant to give you a power so you can use the radio to get new information that is being broadcasted over the radio. Sure, you can leave the radio out in the sun and/or crank the thing, but it will take quite some time to generate enough electricity to fully charge a smartphone.
I should note, you can charge it using a USB cable. I keep this plugged into my Xbox one to keep it charged. Obviously you can use a USB plug to charge it, but it only comes with a USB cable. I am using the Xbox because I didn't want to deal with a plug when there were two unused ports on the Xbox and the Xbox is in same spot I want to keep the radio.
Overall, it seems to be a good investment in case of an emergency. You might want to also look at the next model down. On paper, it seems to have everything this one does minus the dog whistle. You'll have to decide whether that's worth the extra money to you.

A necessity wherever volatile weather conditions can occur and with multiple power options it's extremely unlikely that a power source will be an issue. Very portable and intelligent design, comprehensive features and easy to program. It's the best there is and the price point puts it in reach for pretty much anyone.

Before purchasing this radio I did a lot of research online. It is always in the top four of Weather radios when rankings are done. It is quite expensive, but it has a lot of features, especially the fact that it has solar, crank, and battery back up. It also has the alert feature which can be turned on or off. I also like the AM/FM radio part.

So far very satisfied with this radio. Used in multiple times outback in the Adirondacks. Classic scratchy sound, with ok audio & good reception. Solid build and felt confident using the crank to power the radio. Other options are nice to haves but work well such as the torch, phone charger and headphone plug.

Like this radio.. not too big... handheld... reception is good and charges great. Can charge phones and charge battery with crank if power is out in case a phone battery dies. Speaker Handles music fairly well but I mostly use for news and talk. Nice led display and lit to read easily at night. Overall great little radio with all features I was looking for

This radio works as expected and has all the features I was looking for.
The case is sturdy plastic, but I wish it was encased in a rubber material to absorb shock if the radio is dropped, and thick enough to recess the controls and display (similar to a cell phone Otter Case) to help keep them from being damaged when the radio is dropped.
The plastic hand crank is adequate, but it flexes when using it.
Radio reception is fine. I live in a populated area so I did not have to extend the antenna.
The first time I used the radio to automatically provide weather alerts I almost jumped out of my seat when its alarms and flashing light went off. It was loud, and would definitely wake you up from a deep sleep.

Fits the bill after my experience with Hurricane Ian. Needed something that could be charged without electric service, solar was always available as was cranking power. Worked well for test. Hope to never have to use it again, but glad to have it if needed.

I was looking for not just a weather radio, but also an AM-FM radio to use during a power outage. This radio has that including an internal battery that can be charged ahead of time and used when necessary. Regular batteries can also be used. Among the added extras are a solar panel, a crank for power and a flashlight!

This emergency radio/charging station is better than I expected for the price. I ran the battery down to see how long it would take to recharge by solar power: about 6hours in the sun. I have not completely charged by hand crank, but it only took me twenty minutes to top it off.
