The muni Annandale 2.0 speaker is a Scandinavian design Lantern speaker with variable lighting modes consisting of four colors in various mode patterns. It is IP44 rated and can be used indoors or outdoors. The speaker itself is 10 watts and has a very good sound. The base is a little weak but Ok for casual listening, I think it would be improved with a stereo set up. The speaker has Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and can pair with a second speaker to allow true stereo. The speaker and the lighting can be turned on separately or used together. The Scandinavian design of the speaker consists of a plastic opaque white cover and a wood arched handle and is very aesthetically pleasing. It is at home in even the most upscale designs. It will fit in any decor. The setup is easy once you turn on the speaker and hold the Bluetooth button it will be able to be paired with any Bluetooth device. There is a separate remote to control the lighting and the volume or you can control the functions with buttons on the bottom of the speaker. The speaker has a battery and will play music for about 10 hours with the sound only or 4 hours with the lighting on. Mooni includes an USB charging cord. The speakers and accessories are very nicely packaged in a soft white bag with the Mooni name and pull strings to go along with the aesthetics and protect finishes. I suppose you could use these to carry the speaker to the beach or camping. Overall I really like the design of this speaker, it looks really cool and has nice lighting for any type of environment and music. The lighting brightness controls are unique portable speakers. I recommend this for your porch or patio.

Mooni - Portable Speaker Lantern - White Mooni’s Speaker/Lantern is not really white, because you can pretty much select a color or cycle through a rainbow of colors. The Mooni lantern is an attractive addition to a bedroom, bathroom or poolside. Despite the Mooni advertising that is an ideal pool-side speaker because it can handle some splashing, you’re more likely to use it as we do. SETUP: Right out of the box, you can see Mooni’s attention to detail. The lantern was “bagged” in a cute cloth sack with the accessories (remote, extra battery, screwdriver) in a separate sack. I was quickly operating from my Bluetooth (Apple XR phone) and playing music. The remote which controls volume and music selections (previous, skip, play, pause) also controls a few light modes and brightness. It’s fairly intuitive and reliable. I let the lantern charge for the afternoon before coming back to retest and re-listen. PERFORMANCE: The lighting is colorful, bright or subdued and mellow. Steady, single color or cycling through a rainbow of colors, rapidly or slowly. You choose. It’s so attractive and the light effects encourage you to experiment in lots of room settings. The light wood frame of the lantern fits in many decors. Considering lighting effects alone, the Mooni is lots of fun. Sound: In a more typical kitchen-dining-living-bed-bathroom space, I could fill the area with balanced sound. Like I alluded to earlier, this is a wonderful addition to just about any room, but maybe not a wide open space where the sound is somewhat underwhelming. A pool? Sure, all the above applies, but the sound projects from the top of the lantern. Because the volume and bass are limited, the Mooni begs for ceiling or wall sound reinforcement (where the reflections from nearby surfaces augment the volume, and especially the bass). The Mooni instructions note that if you add a second unit, the two devices with become each channel and form a stereo sound field. That could solve my issues about filling a larger space, but this isn’t bold, loud, serious music listening. It’s pleasant, modest, sound augmentation that doesn’t want to be pushed hard. SUMMARY: This is a great looking, decent sounding Bluetooth speaker that adds to a variety of room decors. I’d be reluctant to replace my heavier duty pool speaker with this. However, it will find a place in my home. It hangs from a hook, or sits on a shelf, and easily travels from bureau to desk. The length of time between charges gives me the freedom to walk it to where I want to use it. My wife is already finding some places to set it down. She’s very impressed with the whole package.

When you want to unwind with some music and the lights off, Mooni has got a speaker for you. The speaker has 10 different colors you can choose from and multiple color changing modes. Sound wise the speaker sounds good, but don’t expect any bass. The Mooni is the speaker for when you’re out back relaxing. The speaker is lightweight and feels very nice especially the wood handle. It comes with a remote to control the functions as there is no app. You can connect multiple speaker’s together for stereo pairing. It charges via micro usb, and they offer an optional wireless charging base.

Great audio and lighting for decoration

This lantern is super cool. It's a beautiful looking decorative piece that I would expect to buy from a furniture store. It has this look to it that really makes it look like it belongs in an upscale hotel or modern contemporary home setting. The fact that you can light it up with accent lighting that makes a great range of colors for ambient lighting is fantastic. The bluetooth on this speaker pairs up really well with my iPhone XR. The audio quality is very nice and clear. It doesn't provide any big bass sound, but it's more appropriate for a calm serene setting. The audio quality is crisp and clear, and when you add in the lighting effect it makes a beautiful masterpiece to showcase in your room. I'm currently using it in my home yoga studio and it fits the ambiance perfectly. The shape of this lantern looks great when just sitting on the shelf in standby mode. The soft glow of the lighting works really well for my yoga studio in the low light of the morning hours. This one unit can give me the audio, lighting, and ambiance I love to make the room more beautiful The craftsmanship of the lantern is very nice. The wood handle is easy to move around and carry from place to place. The lantern speaker is light and portable. The provided remote is easy to use and figure out so you can adjust lighting and volume from afar. Being that you can charge this up and keep it wireless and wire free is great because it keeps the upscale look clean. Overall I really like this decorative lantern speaker. I'm not a fan of the audible power on/off voice as it doesn't really sound appealing. I like this lantern speaker for the crisp sound and the visual effects it can provide to set the proper mood for the room. PRO: Modern style Clear sound CON: Lack of proper plug wall outlet Audible voice upon power on/off

So the moment I opened the box I knew this was going to be something special. The items were all packaged in separate drawstring bags. Very nice touch. You do want to fully charge it before using it the first time. There is a USB charging cable included. The unit will turn a red color while charging. When it is done charging the color goes away. Super easy. Now that it’s is charged you are ready to use it. Pairing was a snap. I turned the unit on with the very awesome remote. I enabled the paring sequence again from the remote and then went into the Bluetooth settings on my phone. Boom, easy connection. Now I was in business. I immediately began playing music. You have several options for light control. You can manually cycle through the color choices and pause on any anytime. Or you can set it to randomly select colors while it is on. The kids seem to like the random color choices. The remote is very nice. The top section is for turning it on and off and changing the colors The bottom section is for Bluetooth connections and adjusting the volume. I really like that it is cordless, you can take it anywhere and still listen to you music.

    Fun Speaker

This is a fun little speaker. There are some great things about this speaker, but some things I wish they would fix for their next iteration. First, the sound out of this is kinda small considering the size of it. It’s roughly about the size of a gallon of milk, both in height and width. It is deceptively light. We were using it outside while the kids were playing and my wife went to move it, and she immediately commented on how light it was. It kind of makes me think it is something that Baymax would have had in the movie Big Hero 6. So given the size of the speaker, you would think it would be a little louder and fuller, but it’s not bad by any means. It just isn’t the best-sounding speakers, we have an old Beats Pill+ that we use sometimes as well, it’s much smaller and I feel the sound is fuller on the Pill. Then again, the Pill retailed for quite a bit more when we purchased it so that might not be a fair comparison. The lights are great, and my kids love how you can change the colors and even the pattern/speed of how they transition. I feel like much of the size of the speaker isn’t for the sound, but the aesthetics and to have that glowing lantern vibe. It is a very beautiful speaker. The lights aren’t super bright, you can hardly see them in super bright sunlight but has a very nice glow once inside, or when the sun is setting. The included remote control allows you to change up the lights, patterns, and volume of the speaker. It’s a great little remote, that is easy to use. A couple of things I would love to see changed for the next version would be to have them get rid of the micro USB charging port. I think this is the only device that we own that still uses this type of port. It would also be great if the speaker had some type of volume/music controls on the actual speaker. Right now you have to use the remote to control music, I would love buttons on the handle or the top of the speaker so we don’t have to go searching for the remote. For the price, this is a great fun speaker. Seems very durable, I am not worried about letting my grade school-aged kids handling it. The sound is decent, the lights are great, and it is super portable. We will be using this speaker by the pool, and probably will be taking it with us to the beach. An easy recommendation to anyone looking for a fun, durable speaker.

    Speaker for Special Hang Outs

So I’ve had my Mooni for about a week now and I really enjoy it. This speaker is a conversation piece and won’t replace my outdoor system but it is perfect for place tunes while cooking outside or laying out in the sun and reading. I spent about five hours the other day listening to ambient music and reading with my pup and the two of us just sat by a fire and listened to music. The lighting and modes that the Mooni has are neat. Personally I like the soft glowing pulse that changes color. A neighbor complimented it and again we had a conversation on how great it sounded. My only pitfall for the Mooni is the remote and the responsiveness of the buttons. I changed the battery thinking it might be faulty but the remote doesn’t respond well to the appropriate buttons pressed. I’ll press the volume up button and it pauses the music. Otherwise and great speaker and art piece for your backyard. I wish I had more to pair!

    Luminous Lantern Speaker

Overall, the lantern is quite pretty, and would most certainly add a simple, yet modern, and pleasantly peaceful element of style to your room’s decor. Right out of the box I was surprised by the size of this Mooni Portable Lantern Speaker. But I really like it. The exterior texture of the “globe” part has a kind of matte feel to it, and the handle is made of wood. On the top of the globe, is the standard type speaker cover material, done in a woven tan and brown color scheme. The power plug-in port on the bottom of the lantern seems cheaply made. And I have serious doubts about whether this part of the lantern would be “splash proof”, even with the port being covered by the rubberized cap. This doesn’t mean, however, that using it outside in a pool area, or bathroom, would be a bad idea. It’s simply a matter of placement. With the handy included Remote you can adjust the light intensity, change colors and modes, control the volume, and scroll forward/back through track selection. You also use the remote to pair the Mooni speaker with a Bluetooth enabled device. It took me a couple tries to get that done, but I’ve often found that to be the case with various electronics I’ve set up. The sound coming from this colorful speaker is pretty decent. And I really love speakers that have some sort of light feature, which this Mooni does. It just adds to the experience and listening pleasure. Mood lighting, so to speak. I’m very much delighted with my new Mooni Portable Lantern Speaker. If the style fits with your decor, it’s definitely worth considering.

I didn't think this would sound great, that it was more of a gimmicky kind of product vs. a good sounding speaker, but I was wrong. It sounds decent and on top of that, it is really cool! The large base of this, which fills with a nice even light, and is adjustable for brightness, color, and flash patterns, is what gives the small speaker at the top it's UMPH. Of course the speaker itself is high quality, you can tell that, but the large volume of space behind it is what really drives it home. The speaker is covered with a burlap loop and is hard so it cannot be damaged if touched. This comes with neat little cloth bags, one for the speaker/light unit, and one for the power cable and remote. I have repurposed these bags for a few pieces of expensive jewelry I've put in the safe. Very nice! The remote is great, you can adjust sound up and down, turn the light on and off, and even adjust the brightness of the light. You can skip forward on songs too. And you can adjust the light for the way it displays both color and steady vs. rhythm. You can charge via the supplied USB cable (you'll need your own power brick), or you can get a wireless charging plate and charge it wirelessly. Pretty cool for the price point on this speaker. Plus it has a long battery life of 2-4 hours of sound and 8-12 hours of light (rated) and my experimenting with this seemed that this is extremely accurate. You will not get the same sound from this as you would from a $500 speaker, so please don't buy it if you want the highest quality fidelity, instead buy it because it is cool and funky, functional, and frankly has good sound quality. I really like the lights, and I know come winter, it will be even more important to have lights for those of us who suffer from light deprivation in the winter. I'm very pleased with this and I know you will be too! P.S. - If you buy two of these, you can create stereo sound automatically as it will know to play through both of them at the same time! Kudo's for making this possible.

The Mooni - Portable Speaker Lantern in white simply put is really fun. This is a pretty inexpensive Bluetooth speaker that easily connects to your device, whether that is playing Pandora on your smartphone or connecting to your tablet or laptop. The esthetics are modern and clean with a blonde wood handle that mirrors Scandinavian looks or something that you would find at IKEA. So, it would easily go with the décor of the millennial generation, I am in my 60's, but like the modern look nonetheless. While this speaker might not have the boom, crispness, and bass correction that a speaker 2 to 4 times its cost, this one is $79.99. it is water resistant and just the right price for your child or tween or even yourself to take to the pool or lake this summer. It easy to carry around, there are numerous modes for the light shows that it can display and the sound is not that bad for the money. Bottom line, it is a fun experience. It uses a USB that you can either connect through an electrical adapter or a computer to charge. I have not run it for 12 hours, but it says that that is its capability. It comes with a comfortable remote control that you can use to Bluetooth connect, raise and lower the music sound, and control the light show. Overall, I am pleased with its performance.

    Decent lantern plus bluetooth speaker

This is a decent bluetooth speaker but for me, it won't replace my traditional high volume speaker that I use everyday. This speaker is cute with color changing LED lights. My 4 year old son likes it just because of the LEDs, which was the primary reason I got it in the first place. I already own a High-power bluetooth speaker from different well known company that has lighting in it and my son gets excited every time we use it. I knew he will love this cute little speaker and I wasn't surprised. It can be a good kids party speaker but don't expect it to be as loud which is fine for the kids. It doesn't have the same amount of bass as other speakers that I own. Speaking about the box contents, speaker comes with a remote, a USB charging cable and user manual. And just like any other product now a days, a USB wall adapter is not supplied which wasn't an issue for me as I have plenty of them lying around in my house. I immediately plugged it for charging upon opening. Mooni claims a battery life of up to 12 hours which, IMHO, is a bit too much to boast. The only way you can get that much battery life is if you just use it as a lantern and not as a speaker. I'm not sure if we can do it the other way around meaning playing music without lights, I haven't tried that yet. With both working at the same time, I would expect a battery life of around 5-6 hours at the max but that's just a guess based on my experience with similar products in the past. I haven't tested this speaker battery up to its limits yet. The lights in this speaker are surprisingly bright and you can choose from a bunch of solid colors or you can make it flash in different ways. When you connect it with your phone, it will flash with the music which my son likes but I prefer to just make it solid. I think that may also have some affect on battery life. You can set the light on different modes, such as solid light, changing light colors quickly and changing slowly etc. Overall, it's a decent product at just about the right price, can be a bit cheaper but since it just came out, expect the price to stay at this level for a while. I'm sure price will drop in future.

Verdict: It’s a good-looking speaker that can fit with almost any décor. But… for it’s size the speaker performance is quite lacking. Additional features are a nice bonus: convenient carrying handle, capable remote control, and changing lights. Initial impressions. The speaker comes with nice speaker and remote covers (see pictures). The speaker was lighter than I expected. The speaker is very nice looking, with a wood handle and different materials. Setup. Setup was very easy; it connected to my smart phone via Bluetooth right away. I was also able to set it up on a second phone as well. To use the other phone, just disconnect the speaker from the first smartphone’s Bluetooth menu. Sound. Given how large the speaker is, I expected great sound. However, it looks like the actual speaker portion of the unit is small. The speaker is overall not very loud. The sound quality is acceptable but not great. Highs and mids are fine, but lows are weak. Features. The changing lights are cool, and the different light features are very neat. My teenage daughter was very excited to play music with it and to use the remote to change the light colors. The speaker is water resistant, which means we will use it by the pool too. My wife thinks that the speaker looks great and should be kept in her office next to my cigar box so she can play music when working. Things I like: - Good-looking speaker - Nice visual balance of different materials - Able to connect to two different phones - The remote control is really nice and works well - The speaker is water resistant - The changing lights are cool Things I don’t like: - The sound is not great… if the main selling point of this unit is as a speaker, then the sound should be better. There was plenty of space in the case to include a more capable speaker - The unit should have included a plug adapter. I understand the portability aspect of the speaker, but if this speaker is also meant to fit beautifully as decoration, like a lamp, then a charging cable with a plug adapter would have made sense so that you could leave the speaker permanently plugged in - Lack of smart speaker functionality… Echo or Siri integration would have been great. Overall, this is an interesting speaker. It’s not a speaker for audiophiles, and it’s not a speaker I love… I would rate it 3 stars… but the family likes it, so 4-stars it is. It seems to have a niche as a convenient portable speaker with a handle and a light, and as a good-looking speaker to fit with any décor while doubling as a lamp.

This is an excellent speaker for outdoor events in the evening and at night. The light is bright and you can adjust the color to set the mood or have it cycle through various colors to spice up the party! The sound quality is good, especially given how durable this speaker is, though, don't expect it to replace your home stereo! The speaker holds up well against splashes, light rain, and most things that wouldn't already have ruined your picnic or tailgate party. The only real quirk I found was that there is a foam ring on the bottom of the speaker/light insert that does not touch the surface you place it on, might be for water resistance but it looks like it could just be a carryover from use in other models. The unit is still very stable on its base and should serve well in backyard barbecues, poolside listening, and tailgating!

Opening the Box: The packaging was solid, and both the lantern and accessories came in a nice cloth bag with drawstrings. This was unexpected and nice. The package came with a small brochure, the manual, a remote, a combination screwdriver/Allen wrench for the remote’s battery compartment, and a spare CR2032 battery for the remote. Initial Impression: My initials impression was very good. The lantern is attractive and feels well made. The remote is small but solid. The buttons are laid out for ease of use, and the spacing is perfect for being able to hold the remote and moving between buttons without having to reposition the remote in your hand. Of all of the remotes I have (which is way too many), this one feels the most solid and well made. Starting the Test: I opened the bag, inspected the items, and read the getting started guide. The first order of business was to charge the lantern. The time to charge the lantern from the charge that it had was somewhere between 2.5 and 4 hours (I had to leave in the middle of the charging). Test: Once it was charged, I paired it with my iPhone 11. I am using Apple Music for my source music. I turned on the speaker and turned on BT on my iPhone. It almost immediately showed up and paired. I went through the 4 lighting modes. All of the modes worked as expected. I don’t have a favorite mode, because I think it really depends on my mood. Now for the main test. I went through over 100 songs while testing this speaker. I did so because I want to be fair. I am an audiophile. I truly love music, and the better I can get it to sound, the better. My main system is a high-end reference system; this speaker is not. There are reference wireless systems, but they cost hundreds or even thousands for those systems. This is an $80.00 speaker. So to be fair, I listened to a wide range of music types and genres. For an $80.00 BT speaker, I was actually impressed. Most inexpensive plastic speakers sound tinny and vibrate all of the table, and distort as soon as you start turning it up. That is not the case here. The highs and lows in this speaker are relatively flat. I don’t think this is by bad design, but actually by good design. This is a plastic case. If the bass was low and tight, the sound would probably be horrible, and distortion would probably be pretty high. This Mooni speaker never distorted, not once. I really pushed it hard with metal from Ted Nugent, Rage against the Machine, System of the Down, Korn, White Strypes, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and many others. I also used a variety of hip-hop and old-school rap. Never once did it distort. The highs are also a bit flat, but not as flat as the base. Depending on what you are listening to, sometimes the highs open up a bit. Again, I believe this is by design. To get a speaker like this that has crisp highs, full mids, and tight bass and not distort would put this speaker out of the price range of their intended market. This speaker did well with pop music, bluegrass, classic rock, metal, and 80’s new wave music. I was not turned off by the sound nor blown away by it. I also never felt tired from over-emphasizing the sound. In my opinion, the speaker sounded the best with easy listening. This is where the mids sounded the fullest and the highs opened up a bit. Listening to Simon and Garfunkel, the guitars really sounded good and their voice was smooth. Randy Newman’s piano was clear, and his voice sounded like it usually does with other speakers. Philip Glass’s piano was also really clear, and Jim Croce’s Guitar was crisp and clear and voice smooth. It almost sounded like I was listening to 2 different speakers when listening to easy listening and all other genres. Summary: After writing this review and before posting it, I went back and read some other reviews. While I agree with most of what I read, I feel like it is unfair to compare a sub $100.00 speaker with that of a Magnolia Room speaker. I rated this speaker for what it is, not what I think it should have been or could have been. Based on that, I am going against the grain and giving this speaker a 5 out of 5. Why, because I believe that Mooni did a great job with creating a decent sounding BT speaker with mood lighting in an attractive case for a good price that never distorted. Does this speaker hold up to my reference system? Absolutely not. But truth be told, I could easily listen to this speaker as background music and never get tired of it. I will be putting this speaker in my bedroom because it sounds good for a bedroom speaker, looks nice, and the mood lighting is relaxing without being cheesy. Great job Mooni!

The Mooni Andale speaker is a really cool and unique product that I was really excited to bring home. First impression from unboxing: really cool packaging design which included two fabric bags (one for the lantern speaker and one for the remote). It did not include a USB wall adapter, just a very long USB cable with a right angle plug that fits pefectly under the speaker. I have plenty of USB wall plugs so this wasn't an issue for me. The Andale lantern itself is a classy, very European design with a soft translucent glow from the plastic and a pine finish to the handle. My intent with this device was to put it in my kids' room as a night light and 'sleepy time' music speaker and it works perfectly in this role. For a few dollars more I am sure I could get better sound quality but I would be losing the colored lighting which is a huge draw for this product. My twins LOVE this light. There are several lighting modes, ranging from a single solid color, to quickly fading in and out like a “heartbeat,” to a very slow gradual fade from color to color. All of these are controllable with the included remote. So far our favorite use has been as a “camp fire” with the lantern set to the warm red glow, and a campfire soundtrack playing via bluetooth. This has really added some fun “camping” time to our quarantine days this month. We haven’t really pushed the battery to its limit but around the house we can let the light go for the whole day (9ish hours) off the charger without music playing. With music playing at “background music” volume along with the light, I had to plug it back in after about 4 or 5 hours. Overall this was an extremely cool product that my family loves. My wife might even be stealing it from the twins’ room for bath time. 100% recommended.

This speaker is pretty solid. For how it is built, the tone and bass is good. It is light so you know you’re not getting big sounds however, it fills our family room just fine. The fact that it is wireless is excellent so I can put it outside when entertaining on the deck and with the light configurations, you can bring a little color to the party. I am considering getting a second one in order to have the stereo sound that it says you can create. According to the instructions, you can get another one and it will automatically pair with the other one creating stereo sound. The lights are fun. There is red, green, yellow, white and maybe another one or two. There are a few cycles it can go through but the one we like most is where the colors change and they pulse to the music. Creates a fun atmosphere in my kid’s rooms. You can buy a wireless charging base for it as well which I think we will pick up so that the cord isn’t misplaced but even without it, you can charge it with the included cord and a USB block. I would recommend this speaker for anyone looking for something a little different that has good sound and the ability to expand into a stereo environment.

Got this because we needed some light on our deck. The fact that it changes colors and plays music just makes even better.

Bought this one for my friend for Christmas. Had great potential as "fun" speaker with the light display function. Seemed easy to set up at first, but once you turn it off, it requires you to go into your phone settings every single time to establish the bluetooth connection -- again and again and again. Maybe can use software from the 21st century?? Gave 2 stars only because it was a good price, but I returned it, so maybe deserves 1 star due to the hassle.

It wasn’t bright enough for what we wanted. The white light didn’t shine that vibrantly.
