Touchscreen became unresponsive, and developed a presistant bright green line along the edge after just one year on regular use. I didnt drop it just pulled it out of my pocket one day like that. it went away next they then came back on the other, now its permanent. Other than that it is great phone i will prob get another one, cuz i really like it. Dont get Android 12 just stick with 11.

I've been pretty concerned about the quality of this device. I agree with the other reviewers, I probably wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't 400.00 off. I do like it though! It's so conveniently small that it can fit in my pockets. (Hard thing to do with women's jeans.) And the battery lasts me all day long. My previous phone was the S8, so this phone is at least 2x better in specs from what I've seen so far. It's definitely still an upgrade to me, but not flagship status. As far as the phone goes, it has that little creeky noise that people talk about. It's barely audible to me, so it doesn't bother me. I am seeing some issues with group text messages though, which is unusual. Sometimes they're not downloaded right away, so I have to click on them to download. When that happens, they're not in order so it's a little harder to understand the context of my messages sometimes. It’s also very hard to find a good case. I bought one from Amazon, and it pops off the phone while it’s in my pocket. My advice would be to spend a little bit more to get the protection that you need. There is also 2 bends on the screen which is a bit off putting. Sometimes if the screen is a little dirty, it’s more noticeable but you can’t tell at all if the screen isn’t off. All in all though, I like it and would buy it again! The convenience of having a smaller phone has been great. The front facing screen is lots of fun when taking selfies or controlling different apps. I just wish that we could have more than 6 app shortcuts. It’s pretty amazing to control my Google Home app without ever having to open the phone.

Nostalgia came true... It's so satisfying to use these type of the devices and remember when 10-15 years back you can finish your call by just closing your phone. And now Motorola delivers it to you - amazing quality, no reliability issues, super feelings and one of the best (and different) phones I ever used so far. Of course camera and battery life could be better, but you can't beat that style and nostalgia... And do not forget about Retro mode!

The phone itself had been performing well until just a few weeks ago when it stopped powering up. I sent it in for warranty but was told because the back case was cracked from a drop (not even screen damage), they would need to repair that first for $1000 before they would fix the power up issue under warranty. So I think the take-away is don't count on the warranty if you have any cracks or physical damage regardless if it's related to failure! Very disappointed and won't purchase again due to the support. Pic attached to show the cracked back that caused the rejection of warranty so you can gauge!

I badly want to make this 5 stars but there's just a few things with it where it doesn't pull through. That being said, I actually would not have chosen a different phone if I could have. Pros: -The flip! It sounds stupid, but there's something about the screen and the flip of it. It decreases it's size wonderfully and it's nice having that form factor. -Build quality. This thing, the design is fantastic. Engineering is wonderful. There is no slop whatsoever and I love that. They cared about this device -5g support. Not much to say there. -Camera. Quad pixel is awesome. In the end the photo is 12mp, but it uses 48 to create that. Results are fantastic. -No bloat! This has a legitimately clean Google OS with no bloat, it's awesome. -Comes with usb-c to 3.5mm headphone jack. Cons: -Price tag. For a smaller battery, not top of the line hardware, it has a top of the line price. -Wifi card in it is definitely crappier than my note 9. Cellular is fine. -OS. It is released with Android 10 and still on it -No wireless charging. For a phone this pricey, wouldn't have taken much. Things to note: -The folding screen does leave some feelable creases in the screen. You can't really see it when the screen is on though. Might REALLY bother some people. Doesn't bother me at all. -They probably could have decreases the price by $100 by just shipping it in a normal box. That being said, it was a fun unboxing.

The original Razr back in the day was my all time favorite phone. So, when the second generation in 2020 was released, I knew that I had to at least give it a try. I have always been a loyal Motorola user since my last Nokia in 1999. Love this phone although it is a little sluggish sometimes and not very durable. I am on my second one because the screen is easily damaged. Those two issues are not enough to end my love afair with this phone. I have a third new one on standby.

The ability to have a smart phone that fits in my pocket is so incredible and I love it. The battery life and camera quality are not as strong as they could be, but I still get a full day worth of usage, so for me it is plenty. The one problem I have had with this phone is that the front exterior screen broke and is no longer usable, which is sad considering I bought it very recently. I am not sure what caused it to break as there is no visible damage at all. Still, I spent a full day hunting for this phone when I knew it was the one I wanted and I don't regret my purchase. I do, however, hope these phones continue to become sturdier and tougher in the future.

I have been waiting for a modern folding smart phone for a very long time so as you can imagine I was very exited to see the recent new foldable offerings from both Samsung and Motorola. The last clamshell (flip) smart phone I had was a Motorola A1680 way back in 2012, and although I still love that phone to this day its lack of 4G, slow processor, and ancient version of Android make it completely useless for getting online in 2020. Anyway, although the new Samsung Z-Flip has better specs than the Motorola Razr in almost every area I ultimately chose the Motorola because of its much larger and more useful outer display and for its more interesting and stylish design. Now that I have had the phone in my hands for about 48 hours however there are a few problem areas I have noticed. First of all, after opening and closing the flip about 20 times with no issues it suddenly started making a very loud and very annoying creaking sound every time it was opened up. This was very disappointing considering the fact that I only bought the phone because I heard that they had solved the noisy hinge problem on this new version. In any case, fortunately I was able to quickly identify the source of the offending noise and fix the problem. The problem is that, although there is supposed to be a paper thin air gap between underside of the top of the front cover and the hinge, that gap reduces to zero towards the center and the resulting friction between the two materials when opening the flip can create this annoying sound. The solution was to simply moisten both sides of the corner of a small piece of paper with WD-40, insert it into the gap on the right or left and then slide it across to the other side, thus leaving a thin layer of lubricant between the touching areas in the center. And this seems to have done the trick because it hasn’t made even the slightest sound since doing this. The second problem I noticed was that the phone got very hot during set up. You wouldn’t think that simply setting up the phone would use so much computing power that it would over tax the CPU like that. And if it gets that hot during set up what will happen should I play a very resource hungry game? I was ready to return the phone at this point, and I can certainly see how this might be a deal breaker for some people, but since I am not really a power user by any means I figure it should be okay. In fact, 95% of the time I am using my phone as an actual phone and, except when traveling, I rarely find the need to access anything online while away from home. Basically when I’m out and about I would rather engage in the world around me than to have my head buried in my phone. Another thing I had a problem with was how the flip opens and closes. Normally with a flip phone the flip will want to spring open once it passes about 45 degrees and it will want to spring closed before it reaches this point. With the new Razr however you pretty much have to manipulate it all the way open and all the way closed. It is actually very easy to open it one handed but you have to kind of flick your wrist like with the communicators on the original Star Trek. But then when you go to close it you have to push it all the way closed, which can get very tiring for the fingers over time when doing this one handed. The thing is, if the flip doesn’t spring closed anyway then why not just go ahead and make it like the Z-Flip which can be held open at 90 degrees for taking photos or for video calls. I’m fine having it one way or the other but with this phone you get neither of these. I guess the Motorola engineers were worried that if the phone were allowed to snap shut it might potentially damage the phone. In any case, it’s still great being able to once again end calls by closing a flip. I can’t count the number of times with conventional smart phones that I thought I had ended a call only to find out later that it didn’t take and that someone’s voice mail was recording everything I said. There is nothing like having a mechanical foolproof way of ending and answering calls. That being said however I definitely do not want the flip to shut off my music but unfortunately it does. If you are listening to music on YouTube with the phone open and then you close it it will not only pause the music but it will lock the phone as well. This means that to continue listening you have to hit the fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone and then you have to find the YouTube app on the outer screen and open it. Then you can hit play again on the song you were listening to. This is really a major pain and if there is a way to change this feature I have not yet found it. My final complaint is with the tactile buttons, particularly the volume button. Its way to thin and short and it is very poorly placed for one-handed use, both with the flip closed or open. Oh, and I’m not a big fan of the polished mirror finish either. Not only is it very slippery and easy to drop but because it’s a fingerprint magnet I find myself compulsively wiping the phone down 50 times a day. Even with all these problems though I actually really like the phone and I think I am going to keep it.

Great phone. Definitely improved over the 2019 version. No issues with noisy hinge. Two gripes is the battery life is not always great and the phone is so slippery - you have to have a case, which I'm not a huge case person. If only they made the back of the phone grippy that would help a lot. A case is a game changer. Average about 12-15 hours of battery life depending on usage. This us my biggest bummer since I travel a lot and need dependable strong battery life. The more you use just the front screen, the better. However, the satisfaction of flipping the phone closed on calls makes it all worth it. Also really like how small it fits in your pocket, cant even tell it's there. No more stretched jeans with the outline of the phone wore in. Looking forward to the gen 3 of this phone. If Mot can address the battery, slippery skin and add wireless charging, then Mot would dominate. Fun fact, I put this next to the original Razr when opened and it is about the exact same length. If you loved the Razr, you'll love this phone.

    RAZR revisited

Love folding this phone like I used to be able to with the former generation razr. It’s nice to have room in my pocket besides the phone. It’s somewhat bigger than the old razr but only about half that of most phones these days and fits nicely in my hand. Really like the outer display, can check messages, run many apps, control phone functions etc. without having to open the phone up. Has great battery life (typically 2 days worth or more) although I’m not a power user but seems to do all i need to do quickly and with ease. It has 5G and have noted getting about 4x the 4G cell data rates over my old phone on Verizon. Connects reliably for hotspot use in an area with marginal cell signal while surfing at the cabin. It’s built well but kind of slippery and hard to open without pushing one of the side buttons. Both of these are minor gripes and can be resolved with a textured cover and small tabs on the upper half of the phone. All in all I’m pretty happy with my new RAZR that I got for $580 off the original price during the Black Friday specials.

    Love This Phone

I have to say I really LOVE this phone despite some of its shortcomings (this is my second one). I love being able to answer and end calls by opening or closing the flip and I love not needing to try and find shorts and pants with a special cell phone pocket in them to accommodate today’s oversized phones (I would never keep a wallet or cell phone in a hip pocket). Of course Samsung makes a very similar foldable phone and in some areas it’s better than the Motorola but there are basically two reason why I chose the Razr over the Z-Flip. The first reason is the much larger and more functional outer display on the Razr. And the second reason is that I just think the Razr is much better looking than the the Z-flip. Aesthetics are just really important to me and I guess I also really miss the days when there were many different unique looking phones out there. Unfortunately the Z-flip just looks like every other phone sold today except that it folds in half. Naturally there are some downsides to the Razr but for me personally the pros just out weight the cons. Still I guess I should probably at least mention what those cons are. First off, the battery life is pretty short by today’s standards. In fact, the standby time alone (not using it at all) is about half the current standby time on my 3-year old Motorola One, a phone that weighs one ounce less than the Razr. If you are a heavy data user or gamer – I am not – then this might be a big problem for you. And a short battery life is not only inconvenient in the moment but it can also lead to the battery needing to be replaced sooner. After all, the more times a week you plug your phone into the charger the faster the battery will degrade over time. And I shutter to think what a battery replacement will cost on this phone. Another thing that heavy users might not like is that fact that when the processor is being overtaxed this thing gets REALLY hot. Furthermore, although I love the design of this phone overal, there are a few things I would change. First of all, I would move the volume/shortcut button much closer to the hinge. This way it would be right under your thumb with the flip closed and at least closer to your thumb with the flip open. The current location is a problem because during one handed operation you have to shift the phone either up of down in your hand to use the button and this increases the likelihood that you will drop the phone in the process. Also on those occasions when you are opening the flip two handed rather than one handed you invariably accidentally push this button which shuts off the ringer and makes you think you missed the call. I also really wish that this phone had a memory card slot and that it was a true dual sim phone. It currently has an e-sim and a regular sim but unfortunately both sims cannot be active at once - this despite Motorola stating a year ago that they would eventually come out with a firmware upgrade to make this possible. Traveling overseas a lot I have always preferred dual sim phones because you can not only insert a sim from the country you are visiting to get a local number but you can also leave your home number active at the same time. As I mentioned earlier, this is actually my second Razr 5G. Back when I bought the first one Best Buy did not have them in silver, which is the color I really wanted at the time, so once they started carrying the silver ones I just waited for a half off sale and picked one up. I was originally going to then sell off the Graphite model, which I also got at a substantial discount, but after learning how expensive repairs are on this phone I may just keep the other one as a back-up phone. Apparently if you drop the phone and crack the front glass your only repair option is to send it to Motorola and they will charge you $1000 to repair or replace it (if this is no longer the case please let us know, Motorola). Anyway, knowing this makes me extremely paranoid about dropping the thing, and lets face it, using a case just ruins the look of this beautiful phone. And since the Motorola insurance options are not that much less than what I paid for this phone on sale I think keeping the first one as a back-up is just the smart way to go. The bottom line is, if you are one of those people who absolutely has to have the latest and the greatest processor, cameras, display resolution, etc. – whether you actually truly need these things or not – then this might not be the phone for you. But if on the other hand having a very unique and attractive flip phone is a big part of the draw for you and those other things are not as important then this is definitely the phone for you.

The good: Phone is reliable, the outside screen is well utilized for peeking messages, camera preview, and supports 3rd party apps so I can open MFA codes, or stream videos in a less battery intensive way. The phones small profile makes it super nice to carry. The inside screen does not feel cheap. If you're in direct sunlight you can see the crease. If you swipe your finger over it you can feel it, but most of the time I never noticed. Most people who ask to play with the phone are amazed how subtle the crease is. The Bad: Battery life is OK, not great, but rapid charging more than makes up for the battery fault on long days. It's also not great at intense games. Anything much more intense than Among Us heats the phone up. The Ugly: As unbelievably sturdy as the interior screen is, the back is glass and broke when I dropped it off the couch on a tile floor. Also this is not a beach-friendly phone. I got a grain of sand behind the interior screen. It eventually worked it's way out and everything is fine. It was just annoying to feel that bump for a week.

I really like this phone, frankly it isn't as good as the Samsung Flip 3 for Bluetooth connection and the screen ion narrower, but the Samsung flip 3 protective film separated quickly (twice) at the gap and the Motorola is more comfortable in the hand and in the pocket. I got this cheap and would never have paid the original intro price. But I am using as my daily phone.

Honestly for how old it is and the price I paid ($360.00 opened box) I gotta say I'm very happy with this device. This isn't going to be the fastest phone, it does not have the best camera system or even wireless charging but what you are getting with this phone is a premium built device. Youd be hard pressed to find something that looks as good as this phone. This device looks like jewelry, sometimes I just find myself just admiring the beauty of this phone. And then you have the coolness factor with it being a flip phone, it just makes you want to take it outta your pocket to show it off to your friends. Besides that, performance is very decent, this Snapdragon 765G from 2020 is was mid range processor back then and with it now almost being 3 years old it still holds up well. The photos that come outta this phone is decent as well, I've noticed that low light photos don't come out too grainy or soft, but they tend to lose some quality in the photo itself which is to be expected especially with it having an older CPU and camera. The 5G and wifi on this phone are alright, I notice the wifi itself tend to lose a bar or two if the signal is going through a wall or two. 5G tends to hold up well though, I get service just about anywhere. With the 256GB of fast storage and 8GB of RAM I can hold an abondance of music, photos and videos, apps and more. For most people even 128GB of storage would be enough so seeing 256GB of storage on this device is a delight. The 8GB of ram is nice because it allows me to have multiple apps open at once and run my Android operating system with ease. Overall, this device is a dream to have, I absolutely adore the polished off design and being able to basically fold my screen in half never gets old. Being able to just slip this tiny thing in my pocket is just a nice feature I never really thought Id care to have. No it may not be the best at most things but everything it does do it does it well. I think most people who buy this would be happy with it, the biggest thing would be price. For me I wouldn't pay anything over $600.00 new for this because at that point you'd have an easy time finding something that performs much better than this. Yes this thing is cool but how much are you willing to pay for something that's cool? As for it being used I think $400.00 or less would be fair, hell, I got mine for $360.00 and I'm really glad I did! Just make sure you get a case for this! Because repairs are expensive! That or buy a extended warranty plan for it.

I love and miss this form factor. I am super glad that I can have the form factor of a flip phone while it being smart. The phone itself does feel slippery and a bit fragile, but when you add the case to it, the phone will seem more sturdy. There are 2 things motorola needs to improve on my end for this phone. One is definitely the battery life. If you don't use it heavy it will last all day. Also the cooling, this phone does warm up a bit which can lead to the battery loosing it's effecincy. All in all it's an awesome daily driver phone that looks amazing, satisfying to close when ending of a phone conversation, and more compact feel in your pocket. I know this phone isn't for everyone, but I would highly recommend this phone over the Samsung flip phone any day.
