I have decided to upgrade the internals of my old desktop PC. I needed a quality B550 ATX motherboard that didn't break the bank. So, I went with the MSI B550 Gaming Plus.
I purchased and picked up the motherboard from Best Buy, and brought it home. No damage was found on the board itself or the additional parts that were included. I installed a Ryzen 3600, Cooler Master Hyper 220 EVO Black, 2 stick of 8gb DDR4 3200mhz Corsair RAM, Gigabyte GTX 1060 Mini OC, and a Samsung 970 EVO 500gb NVME SSD to the build. The CPU works right of the box as specified.
I installed a distro of arch linux on the 970 EVO, and it manages to run with very little to no issue as of today. I connected a Samsung 860 EVO 250gb SSD to use as my Windows 10 drive. The BIOS works as intended, and I am able to run a functioning dual OS system (F11 to chose the desired drive at startup). I haven't done much with overclocking other than running my RAM at 3200mhz. I am yet to manually overclock my CPU and GPU, but I have no need as of late.
Overall, I have not encountered any hardware or software issues specifically related to the motherboard itself. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Excellent Motherboard

The MSI B550 GAMING PLUS is a great motherboard, it has many features that I look for with motherboards in its price range, such as: a S/PDIF port, built-on IO shield, BIOS flash button, and multiple m.2 slots. Another thing I like about this motherboard is how they placed the sys_fan 1 and 2 headers to be closer together. The motherboard supported my Ryzen 5000 series processor without needing to flash the bios.
The main reason I purchased this board was to run my Ryzen 9 5900x, as I tried doing so with a B450 Tomahawk Max and it could only handle it when it was undervolted to 1.2v. The MSI B550 Gaming Plus runs the 5900x without the undervolt I needed and gives me overclocking headroom due to the improved VRMs over the Tomahawk Max.
I am using this motherboard with:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900x
Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240mm AIO
GPU: PowerColor Red Dragon RX 6800
RAM: 16GB Team T-Force Vulcan Z @ 3200 Mhz
PSU: Super Flower Leadex III 850w 80+ Gold
Case: Corsair iCUE 220T
Storage: Seagate 2TB 7.2K HDD, 240GB Inland Professional SSD
Overall, the MSI B550 Gaming Plus is an excellent choice for anyone in the market for a Ryzen 5000 compatible motherboard that is fairly priced.

This motherboard is perfect for a lot of reasons only thing I noticed is it does not have Bluetooth so you will have to buy a Bluetooth driver yourself.

I don’t think you can ask for much more out of this board for the price. It might not be the best board out there but what you get for what you pay is a lot.
It has many of the same features as the MSI MPG X570 and actually looks very similar. You get the same supported memory speed of 4400 MHz, M.2 gen 4x4 and PCI-E 4x16. You get a lot of fan headers. I think there my be one more than an X570 or at least as many.
What you are lacking from the MSI MPG X570 (WiFi version) is Bluetooth, built in WiFi, a second PCI-E 4x16, one less PCI-E 3.0x1 slot and a few less USB 3.2 ports. I think the overclocking capability is less because the X570 has an additional 4 plug power connector on the board and this does not.
Once you get used to the BIOS configuration or MSI it’s not hard to navigate, I actually like it. So all in all if you can do without the features this board is lacking compared to the X570 this B550 is great. If not spend a little more and upgrade. This is my second MSI motherboard and I’m happy with both. No problems, they both booted up on first start with no issues. The manual that comes with the board is very detailed and helps with installation. You just get the board, manuals, a software installation cd (most likely not needed) and a couple of sata cables in the box so make sure you get whatever else you need to install.

It’s a good motherboard and great price. I was a newbie building my pc. I was able to watch a video while building my pc and everything was pretty straightforward with the motherboard. Only complaint is that the cpu power port is slightly unconventionally in the top left. I did my psu cables at the end so it was kind of hard to get the cable in when lot of my other parts were already in like aio and gpu. I recommend connecting that cpu power cable in before moving forward with other parts. Regardless, I got the cable in and my system ran smoothly on first try.
The rgb on the board is a bit more subtle than I’d like. Still looks really nice in my system though!

Great motherboard with a lot of features (sadly no wifi or bluetooth). Easy to work with and looks nice, but a little pricy for its functionality, although thats made up for with its extra slots.

Very solid gaming board. Lots of cool features in bios, good amount of headers for fans and overall what you’d expect from msi. Rgb is a nice touch but wished there was one or two more zones, still a cool touch. No on board WiFi or Bluetooth so make sure to grab an adapter if you plan on a wireless setup.

This is my third consecutive build using an MSI motherboard. Their build quality and testing are unmatched. On this specific board its my first time using M2 slots for HD and I can't recommend them more. Win10 boot time is 8 seconds from cold start. But note, the instruction book notes if you use M2 slot 2 you cannot use the PCIE_3 slot, so keep that in mind if you are planning dual drives and dual video cards. Future-proofing on the AMD slot is a nice bonus. BIOS and OC menu is easy and no nonsense. 3 different speeds of USB ports. Mystic light controller on board is nice, and the LEDs on the board itself are neat, but mystic lighting doesn't allow all features. Specifically, before I installed MSI Dragon Center the AMD CPU fan ARGB was a spinning rainbow ring, that is not an option in mystic and I have no way of changing it back. Mystic's "rainbow" is a solid color ring that cycles colors. Cosmetics, and does not take away from my 5-stars for the board's performance, but worth noting.

Pros
- looks cool
- easy bios to navigate
- integrated IO shield
- USB C and plenty of ports
- affordable
- no wifi (that's an added cost some of us don't use)
Cons
-mystic light for RGB is not great. Doesn't work well with Trident RGB ram, have to use G skill software separately and sometimes they don't shake hands.
- dead end platform. You may regret building with this when the new Ryzen processors come next year.

Paired with a Ryzen 7 5800X, 3070 FTW3, 32gb Corsair 3600mhz DDR4 Ram, MSI 120MM water cooler and it runs phenomenal. No complaints with settings provided by the motherboard and was compatible with the 5th Gen right out of the box.

So far so good. Went from a xpg570 to this and I’m not disappointed at all. If your like me and do hard connection instead of a WiFi I’d recommend this over the more expensive one with WiFi. This thing is sleek and beautiful. Love the complete io shield. Easy install. Easy bios. One click overclock if that’s your thing. I’d recommend to anyone.

For $150 you're getting a pretty premium motherboard. The M.2 slots are amazing and I love the metal PCI-E slot. Not a fan of the huge vrm heatsinks since the don't allow me to put on a bulky cooler. Your only option for better cooling with this motherboard is to go with an AIO. The RGB is a nice touch however its so faint and its under the graphics card so its barely noticeable if at all. Would've loved to see that money go into a vertical USB 3.0 header so the giant cable is better to hide. Overall it's a good motherboard for the price with some minor cons here and there.

Well first time building a gaming pc purchased this motherboard and overall it’s a good product was easy to setup all my components and setting up bios was easy. Only thing is it didn’t have WiFi built in and since it’s my first time I didn’t know that. So if you want WiFi you’re gonna need a chip for that. The lights are cool and easy to setup and change modes through installing the software. Overall good buy

A Mom, a Geek Squad, and the MSI B550 Gaming Plus:

When I bought the MSI B550 GAMING PLUS Motherboard, let’s just say my tech expertise was… nonexistent. The idea of installing it myself was as likely as me winning a marathon. So, I did the smart thing – I handed it over to the pros at Geek Squad.
Why I Love It (From a Distance):
1. Looks Cool: It’s got a sleek design that even I can appreciate.
2. USB-C and PCIE Gen 4: I’ve been told these are good things. They sound impressive!
3. Fits Perfectly: Thanks to the Geek Squad, it’s sitting perfectly in our PC case, no hiccups.
My Lifeline: The Geek Squad:
After purchasing the motherboard and a Best Buy membership (worth every penny), I entrusted this high-tech puzzle to the Geek Squad. They took this mysterious motherboard from me at 7 PM, and by 7 AM the next morning, it was transformed into the heart of a gaming beast.
For the Tech-Impaired (Like Me):
If you’re puzzled by anything more complicated than a toaster, I highly recommend the Best Buy care plan. The Geek Squad turned what could have been a DIY disaster into a tech triumph.
Mom-Approved, Kid-Adored:
Since its installation, the MSI B550 has become the star of our family’s gaming life. I may not understand all the buzz about ATX and PCIE, but the smiles on my kids’ faces? That I get.
Conclusion:
The MSI B550 Gaming Plus is a fantastic piece of technology (so I’ve been reliably informed). If you’re a tech novice, save yourself a headache and let the Geek Squad work their magic. It’s a game-changer, literally.

Killer motherboard. No issues no problems at all. Smooth windows install. Built my boy a gaming PC for Christmas. Lots of features on the back end of the board and excellent sound. Add an AMD ryzen five for ultimate value and still get ultimate performance. Don't forget the graphics card, 360 is the best bang for the buck. Cannot be happier with the performance of this machine with this motherboard in play.
