A Good, Though Imperfect, Windows Laptop

The laptop is mostly well built and easy to use. I purchased it as I was retiring my 2015 MacBook Pro and balked at new MacBook Pro prices (3500+?! Insane, even if they are my favorite laptop!) The keyboard is comfortable - even moreso than my old MacBook Pro that was mostly fine but left my fingers sore after spending a long time typing in a way this one does not, and it has 10 page papers to attest to its comfort, the screen is bright and easy on the eyes. The touchpad is nice and large. It responds to inputs mostly well, though it does seem intent on highlighting things randomly regardless of your intent, and the fingerprint sensor beats out my Samsung smartphone in accuracy. If it decides to be frustrating, switching to the Windows pin is mostly painless. Mostly. It is Windows, after all. Onto the cons - if you plan on doing any gaming - this is a 4k screen with a 2060 GPU. I would personally recommend finding either a laptop with a better GPU or a lower resolution screen (such as a 1440p screen at most.) For my primary gaming computer, an MSI desktop connected to an ASUS TUF monitor that is 1440p, I really don't notice a quality difference between the resolutions, and the 1440p monitor is much larger. If I could do it over again, I would sacrifice the resolution for better fps in my games. However, this was built for creative uses... Which I have yet to really use it for. If you wish to do any collaboration, do know that it lacks a mic in port. I am trying to find some cables to see if my SteelSeries headphones might be able to work through a single mic/aux in port and I will try to update the review when I do (if this lets me). But either way, I recommend using headphones because in typical MSI laptop fashion, the speakers can be, and I kid you not, beaten out buy a $30 Wal-Mart Bluetooth speaker. Or my $26 Skullcandy Dime 2's. Anything is better than the speakers on this laptop. They sound like listening to music through a tin can regardless of how I try to adjust the audio quality. No bass, no mids, just top end like you're listening from the outside of a worn out 90's Corolla that blew out its speakers but the owner insists on blaring at max volume to the detriment of the neighborhood's ear drums. One issue I have noticed on this and some other MSI laptops utilizing this style of charger is that it feels loose - like something is not connected properly and it feels ready to fall out, which worries me for long term usage, even though I have had the laptop for around a year now as it sits. Speaking of charging, battery life is mostly as expected. It can survive about two to three hours of note taking in battery saver mode. So if you have multiple classes back to back that you use this to play FFXIV in... I mean take notes, be sure to find the closest plug and plan accordingly. As expected, 512 GB of memory is nowhere near enough, but I knew that I would make generous use of an external drive when I bought it, or that I would upgrade the drive when I could. I have mostly done the former currently and hope to do the latter eventually. If you think 512 is enough, though... Trust me, it's not. But I can't fault it for what it advertised. Over all, if you are looking for a good Windows replacement for your MacBook, I definitely suggest looking at your needs and giving this laptop a look. As much as I seem to criticize it, it actually is a very fine laptop. It stays out of my way and adapts around Windows as well as it can, and that's as much as I can ask for on this side of the OS wars.

We are several months into using this as our main laptop and I've been very pleased with the results so far. We've owned MSI laptops in the past and it was time for one with a 4K display. I have to say the quality of the display does not disappoint and MSI's software is impeccable to get the most out of your machine. From a looks perspective, this laptop is truly gorgeous. The performance is stellar as well. It runs very quite and remains cool for how powerful it is. With a machine of this power and the 4k display, you will notice you can't run on the battery power for too long without plugging in. However, I'm very pleased with how long I do get away from the dock, given how much machine I'm getting. Another big plus for me has been the amount of ports this things has. All in all, we've been very pleased with our purchase and I highly recommend this laptop if you need 4K and power for gaming.

We have been using this laptop for almost a month. Overall it is a good laptop. We use it for editing videos. So far, we've been experiencing crashing and low memory issues when editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. Since it has a dedicated video card that is mid-level, I would think it wouldn't be crashing as often. The fan is a bit loud as well. In hindsight, for video editing I would opt for a tower build instead of a laptop which limits upgrading of components. This unit would serve more as backup if editing on the go and different locations. The other con is that it only has one USB port even thought the Specs on the bestbuy site say other wise. The integrated speakers aren't that powerful so you'll need to purchase some separate speakers or use headphones for good quality audio.

Excellent laptop for gaming or creative professionals. I do not run any games, but I use very graphic and processing intensive software and this thing runs as smoothly as my desktop. Would recommend .

The components that the laptop contains justifies the price, but remember that a laptop has it's limitations but overall great product.

Not a good computer. There is always something to fix. I wish I did not buy this computer. I don't think I'll ever switch from apple again. The ports on this computer are not worth it. Nothing is worth it.

Super nice, the best computer I have ever had. Fast, great touch pad. Someone said it gets hot… every laptop I’ve owned gets hot on my lap. Great, high quality computer!
