I was going back and forth on what computer I wanted to buy, was stuck between Asus, Alienware, MSI, something from Cyberpower and eventually I read up on this laptop and finally made the decision to buy it. It was nervous decision with how much it is, but all I can say is it's well worth it. THIS THING IS A BEAST!!! Excellent build quality, great speed, the screen...wonderful! Gaming...INSANE! The port selection is perfect to, I like that more companies are deciding to add the AC power to the back of the laptop rather then the sides, then your mouse or game control or whatever else can be connected to the sides without interfering with the the AC power input. Just for the fun of it I wanted to test the overall complete power of the RTX 2070 Super and was able to play some games in 4k and above resolution at about a consistent 30 FPS and here I wanted something somewhat future proof and that's exactly what this is. Even with this I may just randomly give game streaming a shot now that I don't have a potato of a PC/Laptop so to speak. I can still upgrade the SSD and RAM up to 64gb and this processor will still last a long time with it's 12 threads. I was looking for something for gaming of course, but also for school and my hobbies learning 3D and this can do it all and then some. Absolutely love this thing and highly recommend it to everyone. Also everyone worrying about thermals, mine has been perfectly fine. No issues and if you are worried about thermals just turn on the turbo boost although it gets loud but for me I keep my laptop connected to external speakers for gaming so it's not an issue for me. One last thing, the RGB for this laptop is really cool, a unique idea to add it to the bottom in a strip of LED that can change color.

Overall I like it just fine. The built in screen looks great. The 4k picture for desktop/app use on an external monitor just doesn't look as good as the same display being powered by my desktop PC. It gets EXTREMELY loud under moderate useage. Gets alnost too hot to the touch even with the fans ramped up to max speed. The strip above the top row of the keyboard and the center of the keyboard get the hottest. I wouldn't recommend trying to use this on your lap due to the heat. The RGB lighting is nice though it doesn't work properly when trying to sync to sounds while outputting sound over HDMI. This is because its treated as a different sound output device and the software only correctly picks up the audio channel when using the built in audio device/driver.
Speed is decent, games load a bit faster than my desktop PC. Its not really noticeable until you start to load a game though. Battery life isn't great when gaming but its not supposed to be great. It does good on the battery during non gaming useage.
All in all it checked a lot of the boxes I was looking for in a laptop. The main detractor for me is the pooer video/picture quality while using an external display. I'd recommend it I suppose.

This computer has been a wonderful upgrade from my 9 year old dell laptop. I wanted to get the version that has the 10th gen i9, but unfortunately they just never came into stock. So I landed on the next best thing in my opinion. I chose this particular laptop for a couple of key points. I wasn’t settling for anything less than a 240Hz screen and I was looking for the RTX 2070 Super. Those two elements were met with this computer. Thus far I’ve been quite satisfied with the performance. The response in the screen is phenomenal and it runs so smoothly. Currently I only have Death Stranding, and this game is beautiful to say the least. I run it on ultra settings and the gameplay is surreal. There’s no screen tearing and everything is very life-like. I’ve also uploaded my GoPro footage of my snowmachining and it runs flawlessly. 1080 @120fps.
I would like to mention a couple of things that are not fantastic, but certainly doesn’t take away from this laptop. The keyboard is not as mechanical as I would like (just used to more travel and click). Another thing is the fan noise could potentially turn some people off, but that is to be expected in a laptop chassis.
Overall this computer is a beast and I’m quite satisfied with the purchase. If you’re looking for a great mid-range laptop, I’d say don’t be afraid to commit to this thing.

I have tried 4 different laptops in the last month. Most recently i had the GS66. I had to take it back because it just got too hot. 90c while gaming. I upgraded to the GE66 and Im never going back. The gaming power i have on this thing is crazy to have imagined back not even 5 years ago. The temps are surprisingly great. With the turbo cooler on I dont see temps go above 70c. The Gpu always stays nice and cool even under heavy load. I see the GPU boost to over 1700mhz in some loads. playing modern triple A games in 1440p and seeing framerates higher than most desktops is silly. The bottom in easy to remove and everything is easy to upgrade...ram...ssd...wifi card etc. A huge battery with with great battery life...240hz screen is a huge plus too. All around this is the best laptop i have ever used.

Great gaming laptop. no issues since purchase. Runs cod: cold war with no issues. It doesn't even get hot because once it starts to warm up, it kicks the 2nd fan on. Both fans can go up to 6000rpms. You can also kick on cool boost to make them both run all the time. Don't like the color setup for keyboard and bar? You can modify it yourself using the steele program installed on it. You can customize it to whatever you want, even individual keys being different colors. I've ran it for a few days without turning it off without having an issue sofar. It's not the best (top processor) but it's one of the best atleast, as well as the graphics card. The ram is amazing, have had no issues running multiple windows of a game at once.

I spent a long time looking for a computer that can take over for my desktop when I am looking to relax on the couch or am out and about.
I went with this model because of the complaints about the GS series being too poorly regulated with heat. This gets warm but its not bad at all.
I really enjoy that the machine has features to conserve the life of the actual battery and to prevent overcharging.
The lights are fun and enjoyable, the keyboard feels really nice as well.
I love that the power cord goes in the back. I hate when manufacturers put it on the side.
The issues I take are with the fact that when I got it, it would not charge past 92% when set to charge to 100. Apparently the machine must be on in order to charge fully.
The other issue is that 12 versions of office were installed and I had to uninstall each one individually.
Last issue is the speaker. It just doesnt sound great at all. I messed with the settings but it just isnt loud at all naturally.
Overall, if you are looking to have something that should hopefully last you a while between machines and can deal with the issues above, this computer is for you. It is a really sleek and powerful machine. It could be a tad cheaper, but I do not regret the purchase.

I love that it has all the ports i need to connect my devices and it is awesome the charging port is on the back of the laptop. The rgb lighting looks great and makes my laptop stand out from the rest. Definitely worth the money.

This is my third MSI laptop and the best one I've owned by far. The display is crisp, the 240 hz refresh rate is nice and smooth. The GTX2070 Super runs anything in my steam library perfectly. The 32 gigs of RAM make it a multitasking beast I can stream and play games off of this laptop without any issue. Tons of IO, the included SD card reader is nice for light photo editing. A thunderbolt 3 cable would have been nice but this thing is so beastly it doesn't super need it. The power brick is a little bit on the larger side so taking it around can be a little cumbersome sometimes. With this much power you're definitely going to need a ton of cooling and the fans can be a bit loud at times but if you're playing with a headset you'll never even notice.

I got this laptop at an amazing price for Black Friday. Aside from it being $500 off, the quality and power of this is amazing. I only purchased it vs a CPU because I didn’t have the time to invest in something I couldn’t take around with me. With this laptop I have enough GB for school and power for my frames during gaming to run smoothly. Not only that but it’s beautiful. The RGB light up keyboard is my favorite. It’s been a couple months now and no bugs or problems. Only downside is the charging battery is huge, heavy, and short. Can’t have it on the ground while plugged in because of the length. If I could I would pay even $20 more for the wire to be longer. Other than that this laptop is 10/10!

I purchased this to replace a five year old MSI GT72.
Overall, I like the new laptop so far. The build quality seems pretty good so far. The light bar on the front is not as bright and overwhelming as what it appeared to me to be in some of the videos that I watched.
While the keyboard is smaller than what I was using on the GT72, and there’s no number pad, it feels firm with no flex, unless I press in the middle pretty firmly. The keys have a slight click when depressed. The keys are brightly lit and easy to see.
The screen looks nice, and is also brightly lit. So far, I have not noticed any black light bleed anywhere on the screen. The only game I have tried so far is Lord of the Rings Online. With everything set to its’ highest setting in game, the lowest FPS I saw as 125. Generally, it was 180+ all the time. However, I haven’t spent a lot of time trying that or any other game so far, so we’ll see what happens as I get more things downloaded and updated.
I did download a couple free benchmarking tools to see what it would show. These results are done with the latest Nvidia drivers, 446.14 (at the time of this writing, since replaced with new ones).
Geek Bench 5:
Compute OpenCL Score: 82004
CPU Score: Single Core 1092 Multi Core 5402
CUDA Score: 97360
Vulkan Score: 61511
3D Mark Skydiver benchmark for laptops:
Overall Score: 40712
Graphic Test 1: 307 fps
Graphic Test 2: 350 fps
Overall Graphic test score: 71607 Physics score: 14583 Overall score: 26298
The highest GPU temp I saw during the benchmark was 70c for a brief moment. It ranged between 65-69c for most of the test. Dragon Center was set to extreme performance and gaming mode. The fans spun up and down, depending on the demand made of the GPU and CPU. While the fans did get loud, it was not too bad, and not nearly as loud as my GT72 with the fans set to max. I do miss having the fan button that was on my GT72. There are various profiles in Dragon Center, including an ability to set the fan speed to high. I haven’t experimented with all the different settings yet.
I’ve saved what I think is the worst part of this laptop to the end, and that’s the sound. To me, the sound is huge let down. The speakers on the GE66 don’t seem to be nearly as good as what was on the GT72. The sound seems distant, has very little bass, and seems somewhat washed out. I have been messing with Nahimic and other settings trying to find something I like. I haven’t tried headphones or a headset yet, but hopefully that will be an improvement. I’ve managed to find something that is mostly acceptable, but it’s not great. I will continue to try and find some better settings that make the sound better.

This has been a great buy for me so far. The graphics are excellent. It has plenty of storage and it has handled every process with ease. Multitasking is no problem. It serves its purpose well as a good gaming unit. The only drawback is that the fan is loud and the speakers are not so great. Still, I have no regrets about purchasing it. It is a good investment, because there are more expensive gaming laptops on the market and I would put it up against many of those models and I believe that it would hold its own in comparison.

Pros: This laptop is blazing fast! At times, because the resolution is lower, it runs games faster than my desktop!
The components are great and the build quality is fair.
Keyboard and trackpad are fine.
Monitor is amazing and everything looks fantastic on it.
The RGB, which isn’t very important, actually looks cool and fun.
Cons: This computer gets so hot, it is dangerous and unbearable.
The temperatures of the CPU average at 95 degrees C, which is not a comfortable way to play. You will feel the heat on your hands and lap, even when not playing games.
The temperatures often reach 100 degrees C.
This is not a light laptop to carry around.
Fans are extremely loud, and gaming requires that you manually toggle the fans to full blast, or the laptop will heat up to dangerous levels.
Overall: Would recommend if you do not mind manually turning on the fans, or opening the laptop to repaste the CPU and voiding the warranty. Should not be necessary, but this machine is too powerful for it’s own good (build).

With almost a full month since I got it, I can say that this laptop exceeded all my expectations. Battery life, screen resolution, keyboard quality and finish are among the best I have ever experienced.
I was worried with heat and fan noise but it is not remotely as bad as few of the reviews mentioned. On normal settings, using Office 365 or any other standard software program it runs quiet and I did not feel any heat that isn't normal for a core i7 with a NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super Video Card. Playing games that require power will make the Fans to kick in but does not bother me at all.
In summary, just go for it! You will be happy for sure.

Pros: Very powerful. This thing is a beast. Runs Games very well. This is my second MSI laptop I used to own the stealth version and its a good brand for gaming that Is more affordable and gives you a lot for what others charge double. The build quality is excellent and on par if not more than other competing laptop.
Cons: I feel like the speakers on this unit are terrible, The sound sounds like its mono with little to no bass at all. The fans are really loud when it spins up. it almost sounds like a helicopter is taking off from your desk.
Overall: If loud fans and terrible sound isn't a deal breaker for you than I highly recommend this laptop.

I've been looking for several months for a great laptop that offers a lot of bang for the buck. A year ago I had a very disappointing experience with Razer Blade pro that blue screened on me several times within the first day. After that $3000 purchase flopped, I was hesitant to get another powerful gaming laptop for fear that it may fail quickly. In the two days I've been using this machine, I've thrown Call of Duty Modern Warfare at it, and with RTX enabled and most settings maxed, I'm getting anywhere from 100-120fps, which is fantastic. I connected to my TV as well, and when disabling RTX and dropping to 1440p or lower, I was able to reach a mostly stable 60. Resident Evil 3 looks and plays incredibly too at very high framerates, and connected to a 4K TV with settings down, 4K 60 was easy to reach. I'm a student at Full Sail for game art, and this machine could easily handle programs like PhotoShop, Maya or Substance Painter with no problem. The screen is bright and in a dark setting, I have not seen any light bleed in the corners or edges, something even the Razer Blade had. The keyboard is nice and tactile, but my one complaint with it would be the backspace key; it's a bit too far to the right, so when I tap it, I can only hit the bottom corner without moving my whole hand up, and the button has gotten stuck a couple of times. The trackpad is very nice, it has a soft matte texture, and for me is just the perfect size. The finish on the lid is a very nice matte with no RGB, which is nice because I don't care for the extra flash in the front, and it has a far more professional look than other MSI laptops I've seen. Disabling the RGB is also very simple with the function keys if I'm out in public and I don't want to look like I have a "gamer" laptop. Fans are loud, but this is something you should come to expect with a gaming laptop, though I will say I feel they are more quiet than the Razer Blade. To summarize: After much deliberation with months of looking and comparing, I'm glad I went with this one. I feel like I picked a winner going with MSI.

I just got my computer today and my oh my it’s beautiful!!! The graphics, the quality of speed, although I won’t use it for gaming as much, I’ll use it more for my architecture classes and programming but this computer right here is one of a kind, the only thing I don’t like is that it’s a bit complicated to use at first, but I’ll figure it out. I been on it today and everything runs so smooth, I tried to change colors on my keyboard, but couldn’t find a way haha but I’m loving this computer! After searching for a well priced, yet cutting edge gaming laptop, this model (GE66 Raider) was recommended by the staff at Best buy (Thanks John!). I wasn't entirely sure at first as I have only ever had 17" laptops, so this felt like a bit of a "downgrade", but now I've had some time to get used to it, I have no issues, and if anything I think I may even prefer the smaller form factor! Overall, I'm VERY pleased with this purchase, but here are my takeaways so far:
Pros:
Very Light and portable
A huge array of features
Great hardware combination (GPU, CPU, RAM, etc)
Extremely powerful laptop
Great variety of ports and connectors
Cons:
The lighting looks great, but the customizations can be a little over the top!
Only one hard drive
In general, I use gaming laptops for gaming, and flight simulation. The latter demands a lot of power from the CPU. This laptop cuts through the latest flight sims and addons with ease, even at the highest of settings. Sure, it can be better with a GTX2080, but the GTX 2070 super is more than enough for me! I would recommend purchasing a second M2 SSD if you can, as there is an easily accessed slot for a second drive upgrade, but that's my only real "complaint". I'd also like to have a numeric keypad too, but the size makes that difficult and you can easily find wireless keypad extensions.
If you're looking for a fast, powerful laptop that can easily replace a desktop, then this is a great choice.

I've had the GE66 Raider for almost a month and have no complaints. It's extremely fast, reliable. Screen looks great. It's easily handled every game I've thrown at it. The fans are loud when running anything more than a simple game, but I expected as much with the RTX 2070 super on board. The speakers are meh, which is also expected. What I'm saying is...wear headphones.
I did a lot of research before buying and I can confidently say if you're looking for a gaming laptop in this spec range, as of summer 2020 you're not going to do better without spending significantly more $$.

This laptop is amazing, beyond what i expected. I am a flight attendant for a major airline, but i like to game at home and at hotels sometimes airport for a couple of hours. This is more than enough, lighting fast, beautiful graphics, and full of great software. I have owned many brands, but this is the best by far. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The laptop i purchased and returned was $1200 HIGHER, but its performance was OK and it got super hot, enough where i couldn't keep my fingers on. This MSI only gets hot at the very top edge, underneath the screen. it's Perfection.

Was looking to replace my MSI GE62 which is almost 5 years old now, and unfortunately the left hinge pulled away from the casing. I'm mainly a casual gamer and wanted that something that would last for awhile before needing replacement. Have been pretty happy with MSI and the prices fall within my budget for the specs I'm interested in.
Loaded up my games, and it runs great. Am getting really good FPS now, with my graphics quality turned up (had to turn it down on my older machine). Slightly bummed that the cord is shorter than my older machine. Doesn't quite reach the outlet I used with my older machine. I plug it in when I'm playing my games vs just battery when doing other things as I do not like the FPS drop when unplugged.
Machine is sleek and beautiful and still love the SteelSeries keyboard. Clickpad works well for the times I don't have a mouse plugged in.
