Customers often highlight the impressive performance and sleek design of the GS Series Stealth 17.3" Gaming Laptop, along with its large screen size and relatively light weight for its power. However, some users mention that the laptop can get warm under heavy use and that the fans can be noticeable. Other potential drawbacks include battery life and the sound quality of the speakers.

This is an incredible laptop. Very lightweight portable, quiet and will run any new game at Ultra 60+. Doesn't get terribly warm, no bloatware. Plenty of storage. Best gaming laptop you can buy.

A Suburb Laptop For The Price

I had a MacBookPro for eight years. I primarily used it for video editing. But eventually it died and it was time for me to upgrade. But Mac's themselves are incredibly overpriced for the power you get. So I began hunting around for a new Window's PC. That's where I came across this beauty. The GS75 Stealth is the whole package. It's sleek, beautiful and powerful! I'm having a breeze editing 4K video. I also game on occasion and this thing almost always defaults to the highest (or near the highest) graphics settings. If you need a powerful and mobile machine that won't take up too much space, congratulations! You found it!

I originally was not looking at a gaming laptop, but a laptop to use for business and office work. This is not only an incredible machine for all my spreadsheets and seemingly hundreds of chrome tabs, but I can boot up and rock any game with this insanely powerful graphics card. I got the RTX 2070 version, and I was worried about the heat based on other reviews I read before buying talking about the temp always being high. During long gaming sessions it definitely starts to get toasty, but for normal web browsing/streaming/spreadsheet work it doesn't get hot at all.
Very happy so far!

Best of both worlds. Beastly performance and visually sophisticated elegance efficiently wrapped up into a device that's well suited for the gamer who has a taste for refinement. The build looks and feels luxurious, tastefully accented to give it an edge of class over it's competition.

This laptop went above and beyond my needs from the second I set it up. I love the RGB customization on the keyboard, and for someone who usually uses a mechanical keyboard, I really don't mind the one on here honestly. It's big but not too big, and the screen bezels are just right. Performance wise MSI in general has put a lot of customization ability into the options, there's even a performance shift hotkey that I use constantly when changing situations. Love this thing far more than I thought I would, very happy with this purchase.

Decent hardware with some major flaws

This laptop has gotten a bunch of great reviews and to be honest, I don’t get it. It’s not a horrible piece of hardware by any stretch, but it’s also not great, and has some big flaws that are enough to get me to return it.
There are plenty of positives you can find in reviews all over the place so I’m not going to take up your time with that, but instead focus on the reason I don’t think this laptop is worthy of a purchase:
Number 1: The Trackpad
The placement of this trackpad is the worst design decision I think I’ve come across in a laptop. It’s incredibly wide, far wider than is even useful, and it’s offset. That means that if you rest your right palm on the laptop at all you will be accidentally clicking this trackpad. All. The. Time. The other option you have is to contort your hand to not rest on the trackpad, which is awkward and it just doesn’t work well. This is such a huge bummer – the FUNCTIONALITY of the trackpad is great .. but the location ruins everything about it. WHY did you make it so big? It makes no sense at all.
Number 2: The Keyboard
This keyboard is SPONGY. I’ve had several MSI’s in the past and this is the worst keyboard I’ve used of theirs. For the first short amount of time you use these keys the extra travel feels nice. That feeling is short lived since these keys are just so soft and unresponsive .. I disliked typing on this laptop. And I use it on my lap (on a lap desk) so I’m using this keyboard every time I’m using this laptop. Why they didn’t just use the keyboard from this years version of the GS65 I have no idea – that keyboard feels much better. The keys are super small too .. I’m sure they needed to trim them down to fit the form factor and still be able to include the tenkey which I like, but man .. it’s a bummer to type on this thing.
Number 3: The Wireless
My wireless dropped constantly. I was losing connect to whatever I was playing every 10-30 minutes with no rhyme or reason. Then the wireless would cycle for a minute or two, and I could log back in and play. Terrible. I did a little googling on this and there might be driver updates or some other workarounds to fix this, but I don’t feel like I should have to do that. The other premium laptop brands at this price work out of the box, this should too.
Number 4: Performance (throttling)
On paper, this laptop is a beast. In practice I was running into throttling it seemed like anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes into a session. So in The Division 2 I would get 70-80 FPS on High settings to start out. Then, 20 minutes later I was getting 44 FPS. The heat on the CPU is crazy high also – that seems to be the case for this CPU in general, but this should be an issue that gets fixed. Everywhere I read about undervolting and repasting – I shouldn’t have to do that. If the CPU’s need to be undervolted or have better paste they should come like that from the factory, end of story.
Overall:
Overall, I just can’t recommend this laptop. It’s fine, but it’s not great and why should I spend $2300 on something that’s just fine? I don’t understand the overwhelmingly positive response it gets. I use a lap desk on my couch, that’s when I use a laptop for gaming, and this just isn’t well suited with the way the hardware is designed – a keyboard that is spongy, a track pad that is always in the way and under my wrist, wireless that is inconsistent and performance that doesn’t hold up to the RTX 2060 competitor models for the same price that don’t have all of these other issues.
Sorry, I’m usually an MSI fan but this one is a hard pass for me. Hopefully they address these issues and release a refreshed version of this one later in the year – there is a lot of promise here.

I have been looking for a light and powerful laptop that has a battery life of 5+ hours. I thought I was looking for the impossible until I found GS75. I had the best experience with this laptop. I love the portability. I also have been pushing the GPU to its limits and I still have the greatest experience. I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone who considers buying a powerful and portable 17" laptop.

I went back and forth on the the Lenovo y740 and the MSI GS75. Due to the lack of availability of the y740, my mind was made up for me. I have no regrets. This laptop is wonderfully light, and still somehow doesn't get too hot. The Keyboard is wonderful to type on. The only downside being that the home and end buttons share with the page up/ page down, so if you do a lot of typing, that is kinda a hassle. So far, that's the only thing that bothers me about this thing.

Let me start by saying that this is my first MSI Gaming Laptop. I have been using an ASUS ROG for the past five (5) years and wanted to upgrade. I didn't make this decision lightly as I asked family, friends, gamers, forums and searched reviews for a few days. I'm very happy that I went with this MSI GS75 Stealth. I've had it for a few days now and it has been running my games exceptionally. Mine came with the RTX 2080 and its a BEAST of a card.

I am not a Comp. Genius but I'm loving this right out of the box. Working with photos and internet apps most of the time but love the fact that during my free time, my gaming desire can be satisfied. Giving up my 26 inch monitor wasn't easy but the 17.3 inch screen suites me just fine and now I can take it with me when traveling. If a fast and smooth operating gaming laptop is what you are looking for, look no further.

Runs decently but the fans are very loud. They usually come on if you run a game or plug it in to charge. I've noticed that the battery drains pretty quickly, also when playing a game and the laptop is not plugged in I experience serious frame rate drops and the laptop generally runs a lot slower in game. Overall 5/10

I bought this laptop because I have to travel for work and I need a laptop that I can play games on and looks more professional than most other gaming laptops. So far it has been able to handle all of the games I have thrown at it with great framerates. The only negative I can come up with is that it does run a bit hot under load, but this isnt an issue if you have a desk or a table.

Great High End Long Lasting Gaming Laptop

Specs are self explanatory on this Laptop, that being said it runs like a dream. Even with what most people would call bloat ware, I enjoy the pre installed software that MSI has put on to help speed up and use your equipment on the PC. Quick list of things I like : Keyboard Layout is nice, almos the same as my desktop, doesnt take much time to get used to. Fans are not too loud even when put under pressure. The structure of the Laptop is sturdier than you would imagine being as thin as it is. The one thing I have against the Laptop is how the screen is paired with the RTX card. RTX cards push the limit of what 1080p screens can do and you really will not see what this laptop can do until you hook it up to a 4K display. I for one enjoy my HIGH FPS games, but there are some gamers who like pushing graphics to the limits and I want it to be known that the RTX line of graphics cards while amazing in their own right way out perform what is in most Gaming Laptop monitors this year. This one included.

After a week of using this laptop, I am impressed at the overall quality of the build. The materials are sturdy, the components are fast, and the screen is beautiful. I had no stuck pixels. I do plan on adding more ram and another nvme ssd. The games I have tried so far (CoD:Ghosts, Oblivion, Skyrim, Destiny2) run great on max settings. I have no complaints.

I am very impressed by this gaming notebook. It's matte finish is great. It would easily pass for a work computer but can easily handle top end games. I am in love. If this is the future of gaming notebooks then I am all in. It has been worth the price tag for me. Thanks to MSI for making a gaming notebook that an adult does not feel embarrassed by.

Fantastic Hardware, Useless Phone Support

I bought the laptop yesterday, and I'm already utterly in love with it. Complaints about the "too large" and "strangely placed" touch pad would probably be valid, if I ever planned to use it - but it has full recognition for when you're typing, and it doesn't get in the way (it turns itself off). And I use an external mouse, so it's no issue.
The laptop does get warm, and the fans can get loud, but it's a very burly bit of hardware in a ridiculously thin case, so the fans kicking in to keep things cool doesn't really disturb me. And with headphones, the fans are non-existent issues.
The laptop is fast, and does everything I want and then some!
Setting up my BestBuy account online, however, wound up requiring a call to the support line, and it's entirely peopled with folks who speak with thick accents, making it hard to understand them. And to compound that issue, they don't listen, so I had to repeat myself multiple times for everything I said. In the end, it turns out that you can't set up an account in CHROME of all things... I had to flip over to Edge to set up my account.
But that's not a reflection on the purchase, but on the poor hiring practices of BestBuy. The laptop is awesome.

Sleek, quiet, smooth, and extremely fast. I have pushed this laptop very hard and it has not overheated like other models. beautiful display, great key feel, sound is as expected from laptop speakers, the only down side i can say is that the finish isnt finger print friendly. Best bang for buck out there for gaming laptops in my opinion.

Exactly the sort of laptop i needed. I travel frequently and need to take my games with me. This plays everything I could want flawlessly, and still is slim and comfortable for my backpack and travel. The only gripe i have is the usb port located so close to the charging port, not allowing for optimal access, but its a minor note.
