Customers recognize the GS66 10SE laptop's strong performance and excellent build quality, frequently praising its battery life and suitability for gaming. However, some users have noted issues with fan noise and keyboard responsiveness, suggesting potential areas for improvement. The price point is also seen as competitive by many buyers. While some found the keyboard layout to take some getting used to, the overall consensus points to a powerful machine with some minor drawbacks.

Clean Looking yet Noisy Machine

I am really enjoying my time with this laptop. I bought it primarily as a gaming device on the go for my Steam and Gamepass games but I also have the intention of using it in a school setting as well. It's all black appearance and almost hidden logo makes it easy to bring out at school and the workplace without drawing too much attention and the per-key RGB is a nice touch for when I'm gaming. Due to its RTX 2060, it's not the most powerful card but it is more than capable at 1080 which is what the screen is on this device so I'm happy with it's performance. I knocked a start off due to the fan noise which remains noticable even when not doing anything major. While playing a game, those fans kick up to extreme levels which is good for cooling, tho the laptop still gets hot, which is to be expected because of how things it is, but headphones would be recommended to help block out the noise. I plan on upgrading the RAM and storage with more but as it is now, I am really happy with what I have.

I like the pc so far and don't have many complaints, though the system does come with a fair amount of bloatware unfortunately, MOST of which can be removed. Solid amount of I/O, decent keyboard with custom lighting and the machine is reasonably powerful though the fans do get loud, and in the future I plan to upgrade the hardware such as a second SSD and expand the RAM. It is worth noting that my purchase clearly states that the system comes with windows 10 pro installed but mine is Windows 10 Home. I've been looking around trying to contact Best Buy to ask about this but their live chat doesn't have agents available, there phone line doesn't either, and i don't see anywhere that allows me to send an email or leave a message elsewhere, so if you happen to have issues with your purchase, it may be difficult to contact Best Buy and receive support on their end.

A good computer that still works in mid 2021

The MSI GS66 Stealth 10SE is a good computer. It can do everything I want it to do well. Despite being a computer from early 2020, it is still a worthwhile purchase in mid 2021. The design is really slim and the battery is pretty good (though if you’re gaming just plug it in regardless of battery percentage). I will definitely be upgrading the storage down the road because 512GB can only be enough for so long. Luckily, it is possible to upgrade both the SSD and RAM. The only things that I wish were better are the fans. The computer gets hot after a while of gaming and the fans get loud from the start. There is a silent mode which undoubtedly helps, but that only fixes half the problem. I got a cooling pad which reduces the temp by about 10 - 15 degrees C but that had to be something I got after the fact. All in all, if you can get this computer on sale, get it.

This a really great laptop and couldn't be happier with the purchase. No issues so far with performance, connections, or unexpected heat. It's a gaming laptop, so fans are going to get noisy, and it's going to warm like every other one. :)
The build quality is solid and the MSI apps aren't overly invasive, which I appreciate.
Major bonus points for having upgradeable memory / storage slots.

I think the laptop deserves something between 4 and 5 stars.
Pros:
- Very good keyboard feeling: I prefer the key travel and actuation force of this keyboard over the Omen15 and Razer Blade 15's. I prefer Alienware's R3, though.
- Very good build quality
- Very good screen color accuracy
Cons:
- The laptop speeds up the left fan(processor side fan), which can sound loud, even in the Silent Dragon Center profile. I read this can be fixed by undervolting the processor. I have not tried it yet.
- The trackpad feels not as responsive sometimes but perhaps it will improve with future driver updates. The trackpad of my Acer Nitro 5 feels more responsive.

Love the performance capabilities of the machine. Runs very smooth. Fans get a bit loud but that's normal for a gaming laptop.
The only problem I had was that it came with Windows 10 Home instead of the Pro edition as it was supposed to; but I got in contact with the customer service dept and they are solving my issue. So just be mindful of that if you buy it.

This laptop has some cooling issues when compared to the GE66. Because it has such a small form factor, air tends to accumulate and the fans are constantly on. However, the value is better than you’ll find in laptops like the Lenovo Legion 5i or Dell Alienware brands.
I cannot recommend this laptop for intense gaming, but it performs well for more casual users or business tasks. The keyboard is the best part as it has very low travel and an excellent layout. The trackpad could be better, but you could pick up an external mouse.

If you can tolerate a loud fan, and the computer turning itself off when it gets too hot, it’s a phenomenal s computer.
I really wish it had a better way of cooling itself off, as it can be really disruptive. That’s my only complaint, and if it’s only used as a gaming laptop for less than 8 hours a day, it probably wouldn’t turn itself off from overheating. I personally play games like the sims 4 with none to little sleep, so it would be nice if it didn’t need to protect itself from overheating,
It’s the best computer I have owned, as the second best I owned was an i3 core, 4 ram, so in terms of power this guy is a beast, just one that needs some rest.

Great Laptop for Gaming and General Use

Came to this laptop after deciding that I didn't want a tiny ultrabook with an external GPU, so I returned my HP Spectre x360 2 in 1 and got this. So far, it has been essentially perfect. I was worried about the thermals at first, but they turned out fine! CPU temps around 80c for me with an adjusted fan curve, at full load with no throttling.
Pros:
AMAZING keyboard
Nice wide trackpad
Thunderbolt support
Minimalist Design
Cons (minor):
Fingerprint Magnet
Loud fans if you don't adjust
Runs hot if you don't adjust
Per-key RGB is a bit dim, but not terrible.
Con (not minor):
It should've been AMD

I was initially going for a Ryzen laptop but when I saw this laptop on discount (and the fact that most good laptops were out fo stock) I decided to bite the bullet and get it. Turns out it is a great laptop for my specific needs i.e. esports fps titles (230+fps) and netflix but I understand why some might not like it. I personally don't care about the fan noise as I use a headphone when gaming and have a separate laptop for work.
Positives: MUX Switch, Thinner than most other laptops, Great looking, Did not notice any ghosting on screen, Largest battery you can have in a laptop, Face detection for login
Negatives: Heavier than I expected, Body is metal but seems to be sheet metal stamped rather than unibody, fans sound like a vacuum cleaner

Great Gaming Laptop, Terrible Trackpad

I got this laptop since I was switching jobs and needed to get a new one for myself. I teach college classes and I like to play games, so I wanted a computer that would let me quickly and easily do anything I needed to online, and be able to play some games at solid settings as well. This computer does all of that exceptionally well. Honestly, any RTX GPU in a laptop means it has DLSS in it, and it makes running high-intensity games at higher settings and resolutions SO much easier (if they support it, that is). Honestly, DLSS feels like it's a no-brainer for devices like laptops and it works really well on this machine!
The one thing I don't like on this computer is the trackpad—it's weirdly fiddly and it reads multiple-finger and tap-based inputs way too easily, even with all the settings turned WAY down. I typically use it on a laptop stand in my office, so I'm using an external keyboard and mouse 99% of the time, but if you're planning to use it as a normal laptop, be prepared for some of these issues to get in the way of using this laptop at times.

Smooth non-gaming look laptop.Far as speed on games I know Fortnite is choppy on full screen all ultra so I normally play in windows screen”next step down from full” then do ultra 3D with the rest in high settings and that fixes the chop.Latest Forza Horizon runs good on max.Would recommend a cooler pad cause it does get toasty as to expect from a gaming laptop, and this is a rtx 2060 laptop not a 2060 desktop that gets more wattage and fan so expect a 20-30% less graphic power. I like the large finger pad just takes some getting used to the random click ins trying to navigate. All and all good deal if you get the $400 off $1499 best buy deal.Probably would just go bigger rtx if not on sale.

A powerhouse of a laptop, great for video editing and running most games. Needs some tinkering to keep cool (look up a guide on how to undervolt) but definitely happy with this machine. Still running great after 2 years.

The fans can be incredibly loud though. Sounds like an airplane taking off. I don't want to keep it in silent mode due to worries regarding overheating any parts like graphics card.

Had the laptop for around two weeks with no problems so far. GPU stressed for around an hour and was getting temperatures between 73-76. Cpu was around 81-84. The screen is the best thing about this laptop along with the keyboard. Will update this review in the future if anything changes.

It's a good laptop but you should remove all the bloatware's or just clean install windows when you get it. install steel series and NVidia drivers and perhaps dragon center if you want to control fans.
I would also recommend undervolting for better temperature and purchase another 500gb or 1tb storage if you're gonna download games. Build quality is decent but the front plastic is probably there so that the metal doesn't scratch your wrist.
Audio quality isn't bad but also isn't great as expected of a gaming laptop, but you're probably going to be playing games with headphones on anyways.
One notable feature is that it has windows hello and is snappy.
