I received my laptop on June 6. It's been month and a half of using this laptop. I primarily use this laptop for gaming and for photo editing and I must say it does a great job. The machine does not disappoint when it comes to performance.
The components packed inside and the compact shape of the laptop makes laptop run hot very easily. But, that is taken care of by the fans which keep the whole system cool. The fan noise can be annoying if you are sitting in a quiet room.
I really loved the steelseries keyboard. The layout is really good and typing feels really great on this keyboard. The keys are nicely spaced as well. The per key customization is what I loved.
The built quality is really nice and sturdy. It has a premium feel to it. It does justice to its stealth tag. I always wanted a gaming laptop which did not look like a gaming laptop. Hence, I really love this laptop for its looks.
The screen is gorgeous and fast. The colours look really great and higher fps for gaming purpose is also met.
Overall, I feel it is a great performance laptop which has really good specs at a fair price. One won't regret buying it.

I was Initially torn between this & the Razer Blade 15. It took some time but I think GS66 was by far the better bargain as well as bang for buck. I upgraded from a MSI GE72MVR Apache pro & this laptop surpasses it in every category including portability.
Firstly, the CPU is a i7-750H (6-cores), GPU 2070 Max Q. This is not the desktop or even the bulky gaming laptop variant but the (Mobile) version which is significantly weaker than the ladder. That doesn’t mean that this Max Q variant won’t perform amazingly while gaming just don’t expect desktop like results from it, in a ultra book like form factor. Just wanted to make that clear.
The battery life has been nothing short of amazing. I’m able to get 7-10hr on light use with brightness set at 50, about 4-5hr doing light gaming & watching Netflix & 2-3hrs of intense gaming (fallout 76) The screen is pretty bright imo & I believe it’s about 317 nits. That’s a good increase for me because the Apache pro was about 297 nits although it seems much brighter. The speakers are great on this laptop, shockingly great. The reviews on YouTube all said they sucked though which I didn’t understand at start up when cortana started yelling lol.
It charged via PD, thunderbolt port as long as it’s 65watt or more which maxes at 100watt. I haven’t even used the A/C adapter yet & only plan too when I want to unleash its full power. For now all the games that I ran on it I’m about to play while charging it from the thunderbolt 3 port with no issues. Games that demand more power from the GPU/CPU will need to be played while plugged into the A/C that comes with it which is 230 watts. My device never ran hotter than 60c on the CPU & 50c on the GPU & I haven’t done any undervolting.
The Camera sucks but it has face recognition which imo made up for its lackluster performance Btw it’s Face ID login is quick! The keyboard is spectacular and allows for Per key customization. I love the steel series presets. Chakra, Gold Rush & Roulette are my favorites. It comes with a bit of bloatware that can all be uninstalled but I actually find the apps MSI include very useful especially the Dragon Center app which acts as a hub for your laptops monitoring ect.
The fans imo aren’t loud under demand but normal especially with this sleek build. It’s runs very silent when watching movies or using it as a work station.
Overall I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase & would recommend this to anyone torn between this & the Razer 15. Your getting a better device in a similar form factor/premium build, for a far better bargain, much better battery life & thermals!

Overall this is a very goo laptop. It's sleek, thin and a powerful gaming laptop. It almost looks as good as my razerblade 15. I love the keyboard and how big the keys are and typing feels really good. The touchpad is very smooth. Gameplay is fantastic with the 2070 max-q. The only downsides and these are very minor are the grainy webcam, the fans do get loud at times. The computer gets hot when you play games over an hour. However so do most gaming laptops. I love the windows hello feature, signing in is superfast. My razerblade 15 does not have windows hello. I also love the fact that is laptop is upgradable to 64gigs of RAM and has two M.2 NVME drives. The MSI logo on the screen should be stealthed out maybe black or gray. I bought this back in march 2021 on sale for $1499. Goes great with the Steel Series Aerox 3 wireless gaming mouse (pictured).Pick one up you'll really like it especially since Best Buy has really good deals!

Ok, I admit it, I sometimes go overboard when researching and deciding on something to buy. Especially when it's a fair amount of $$. And it's part of fun.
I have been buying MacBook Pro laptops ever since the unibody designs showed up. Very nice hardware, and excellent OS. I also use Windows and have done so since the beginning, so I'm not one of those "only this brand" kind of people.
I decided that for the price range I was looking at, the MacBook Pro wasn't going to fit.
I was looking for something:
- Powerful for doing 3D design for my 3D printing hobby
- Good enough to run decent Windows games, so I could play with my son
- Portable to take to work each day
- Expandible to add storage (not replace)
- With Thunderbolt 3 to handle my external drives and perhipherals
- With a good keyboard for typing
- Low key enough to take to work every day
- That won't melt my legs off
This laptop fulfills all that and more, although I haven't tried to test the last one on full power games. :) There aren't too many extraneous applications loaded, so cleaning it up and getting it the way I wanted wasn't tough. At this point, I'm not looking at overclocking, although may look at undervolting to help keep temps cooler.
I'm not a heavy gamer, but with some ultra-wide resolution gaming, with the system set to 'balanced', the CPU and GPU temps were staying below 80 and 70, respectively. Lots of videos out there on the thermal and gameplay performance.
Before this, I bought the Asus Zephyrus G14. Loved the Ryzen 9, and the form factor. It's keyboard backlighting was worse than not having any. Add in the lack of Thunderbolt, soldered 8GB ram, and no 2nd M.2 slot, and I had to return it. (Still a great laptop though!)
So I looked and looked, but until the new Ryzen processors have made their way into more laptops with better graphics options, I found this to be the best balance I was looking for.

The laptop's build quality is exceptional as it feels nice and solid. The only downside is that it is a fingerprint magnet but a skin cover should do the trick. Under heavy load, the laptop remains quite cool to the touch. The CPU did reach 95 degrees Celcius when I was playing War Zone. War Zone was in the highest graphics settings and I was able to hit between 95 - 120 FPS. I was torn between the GS66 and the razar blade but ultimately this laptop is a better choice. For one, this laptop lets you add another slot for more storage which is something only available on the base razar blade. Also the battery is great considering this is a gaming laptop. I had the chance to have both the blade and gs66 side by side and the build quality is quite similar as the gs66 is not far behind. Overall a solid choice!

This is a review from a gamer that loves to game but has very little knowledge of what’s actually inside a gaming laptop! But, from the little I do know, a little research, and some help from a friend, I was able to chose this one which I thought seemed to best fit my needs and, oh boy! It has a few cons, but the pros far out weigh those for me!!
Pros:
I LOVE that I can change the keyboard color to anything I want! Honestly the rainbow keyboard option is what drew me to it in the first place! Many other gaming laptops don’t let you chose. I play a lot of Overwatch and Ark. and with my old lap top (An Acer Nitro 5) I would get lag while playing overwatch which makes a FPS game very difficult. Because one second someone is there, the next they are gone! And with this one I had absolutely no lagging out. Also with Ark my last computer could handle it. But just barely. It took me 10 minutes or more to open the game and get myself on the server. And when I would be moving fast, like flying on a wyvern or moving around someone’s base that had a lot of tames and building structures, I would lag and freeze all the time. Which resulted in my death quite often! Lol with this laptop I was in the game and on my server in less then a minute! I was truly blown away! And so far I’ve had no lag issues around bigger bases. This computer is so fast and powerful for how tiny it is!
Cons:
There is no number pad which is disappointing. I used it a lot. But that’s just taking me a little adjusting. Not a big deal for me. I can live without it. The other thing is it has extra fans on each side for cooling rather then just at the back. So they didn’t put the power cord or the usb spots close to the back. They are in the middle and it’s a bit awkward. But once again just cosmetic and not a big deal. I can work around it. And lastly, the biggest con for me is the sound! The sound on this thing is absolutely atrocious!!! Like a rattling tinny sound. It’s horrible! Lol I was just as shocked at the speed of this computer as I was by the horrible sound output! But I just ordered some $20 speakers from Amazon and that problem was taken care of.
So overall, this is a great laptop for gaming and can handle some pretty heavy games! It has a couple cons, but if you can live with those things then this is a great laptop to buy! I definitely recommend it! I love it!

Over all i am impressed!!!
I bought this as an upgrade from my MSI GS 60 Ghost 4k. (An amazing laptop that is now going to my kids for school/play(Games).
Huge battery!!! (The MSI 60 didn't list long, this one I have confidence to unplug and do light without the fear of running for the power cable in the middle.) I don't recommend gaming on it via battery but everything else works. (Minus video editing and what not.)
Screen is sharp, accurate and fast. I'm do photo/video editing and this isn't the most color accurate display but works well, you can always use an external monitor.
I/O: Plenty of ports!!! 2 more than the GS 60.
Keyboard! An upgrade from the GS 60, less spongy feeling, ind. RGB per key.
Love the clean black look!!! I'm a minimalist and love this look. Defiantly a "sleeper" computer!!!
Track pad!!! Miles ahead from the GS60. Man, its nice to know if you forget the mouse you can get work done with the track-pad.
Overall I am happy with the MSI GS66 Stealth. Easily upgradable, I did buy more ram and second ssd, and can access anything if needing repairs or cleaning from dust.
I recommend this product!

This is a review after i have had the laptop for a solid 7 months at this point. If this in your budget i cant recomend it enough. No issues at all running any AAA title. Perfect for school work or business as well.
Pros- great screen, great keyboard, fast enough to run pretty any game, looks very sleek and professional.
Cons- If you care about fan noise and keeping temps low you will have to disable CPU turbo in the bios (which is very easy). You sacrifice some power but its totally worth it to keep the temps in the 70° range and the fans dont have to be set to cooler boost. The cooler boost fans are very loud but its important if you are running hot.
My setup is with CPU turbo disabled, no undervolting needed. Cyberpunk 2077 - CPU and GPU run between 65 and 70 degrees on ultra settings and still getting 55 frames per second during action scenes. Some of you may not want to "nerf" this laptop as much but i prefer the lower fan noise, temps and dont want to burn my CPU. All in all its very very good and for the price its probably a top tier in value in the gaming laptop market.

I've been a longtime Macbook Pro user, but price increases and meh graphics options just left me looking elsewhere. After a whole lot of searching, I found the GS66, which had what I wanted - a small and slim enough chassis, an amazing graphics card, lots of exandability for SSD and memory, and a great screen. The webcam video image is so-so, but I just wanted the capability, I'm ok with what it is. The sound is pretty standard for a laptop. The keyboard is great, the power mangement is really good, and overall a very subtle design when I want it to be. Really happy with the size of the battery, too. 99 Whr is unheard of in other devices. Really happy with my purchase, and very happy with the speed and convenience of ordering online and picking it up.

Probably The Best Constructed Laptop For Mid-2020

The first thing that struck me when opening up the package containing this laptop is how much emphasis was placed on the chasis of this laptop. The internal components are top notch also, but what you see and touch every day has been given the attention it deserves.
Getting set up with the laptop for the first time was also a pleasurable experience and I didn't encounter any issues. There's no excessive bloatware pre-installed, just the MSi basics which include device drivers and proprietary software. There was a bundled version of Norton AV but that was easy to remove and the first thing to go.
From the stealth black coating to the tight-but-smooth movement of the hinge, you will feel like you own a luxury laptop with the MSi GS66. For as solid as this laptop is in its construction and materials, it is also very light. You feel like you own something special but not because it's heavy. The port layout is also well planned and I'm glad I didn't opt for a system with ports in the back. I dock my GS66 in a cradle with the I/O ports facing the side which makes it better for routing power and thunderbolt 3 neatly behind everything to the docking station.
The were one or two things I had issue with. The webcam quality isn't great in moderate to low lighting conditions. My model creates a red hue over certain black fabric and material but not others and not in all lighting conditions. I resolved that by using my phone as a webcam instead. I did not buy this powerful gaming laptop for its built-in 720p webcam, but it would have been nice if it could be relied upon from time to time. The other issue is the MSi Dragon Center application. While it is good at managing performance modes, including game mode, it has been buggy in different ways. I expect MSi to resolve them in time via software updates but their lack of clear communication either directly or in the MSi forums leaves me a little concerned about future improvements.
Overall, I have been more than satisfied with my purchase and the fact that Best Buy had it in stock when it did meant I could cancel several other pre-orders I made at other vendors. This particular model, I couldn't find anywhere else with the specs for the price. I honestly thought it was a mistake after I placed the order and looked for the same model elsewhere and didn't find it. Luckily, everything the description said this laptop has it does indeed have. Love my purchase and no regrets.

I got this a few months back and the laptop is really solid. it is quite loud if you're not listening to anything however. If you're using headphones I wouldn't worry about it. In general the keyboard is quite nice (I don't use laptops often so I can't say too much about it.) The RGB is nice in general too. The laptop has really good 1 tb memory and solid screen. the 240hz is really nice. comes with a webcam too. The laptop isn't too heavy either. The only thing i would be aware of is NVIDIA is coming out with new graphic cards that outperform the 20 series so this laptop will go down in price when they come out with the 30 series. it sucks that i had to buy this so close to the 30 series release date. i would wait for laptops with the 30 series but this is a good laptop.

My wife Kate and I were looking for new gaming laptop for our son, John. We did a lot of research. We compared the specs of laptops between Razer, Alienware, but we found the most positive feedback from the MSI brand in Bestbuy website. We decided to go with these laptops. It's a true top quality laptop with top quality components and looks like professional laptop with the core black on top. The price was a little hard on the wallet, but compared to other machines we looked at, this is the best laptop of the year. It is awesome laptop. I would recommend you this laptop.
Pros
solid metal build material
10th-Gen “Comet Lake-H” CPU and RTX 2070 GPU lead to very high frame rates
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 - 1TB Solid State Drive
Stunning 240Hz display
Plenty of ports, including Ethernet and Thunderbolt 3

Other than that, overall it is great.

I chose the GS66 over the Razer blade because of the superior value. For less money you get longer battery life, a better graphics card, and a larger SSD.
The Razer build quality does feel better than the GS66 though.

I have to say that I came from an AlienWare, so I was a bit skeptical, but this computer has proven to be REALLY good. The performance is simply amazing, it is stable and doesn't heat at all even after several hours of gaming and streaming. I use it also for Development (videogames) and all my engines, modeling and programming tools run light speed. I feel very happy for this purchase and confident about the quality of the computer. Definitely 5 stars and highly recommended.

Had to knock off one star due to same issues as the previous models. The fans are super high-pitch. And they use the cheapest thermal compound possible. The cpu always runs hot. I mean.. it just idles at 55-60° Celsius. The gpu fans stay off until needed. But the cpu fan runs 24/7. You CAN manually adjust the fans to stay off until it gets warm but it never cools off anyway. I think its due to undervolting being locked. I tried with tutorials to be able to undervolt the cpu but I just simply couldn't. And the Dragon Center software is hot garbage.. So I returned it.
Anyways.. build quality is amazing. Screen was very nice. Battery life was god tier. You can expect about 8-10 hours on very light use (watching youtube). Track pad and keyboard were good. The steel series software was WAY more difficult than it needed to be.

The computer felt a little heavier than I thought, but overall it’s been fantastic. There’s so many great features to this laptop that’s worth it’s price. The long lasting battery and high speed SSD really helps when working on big projects. It has plenty types of ports that are helpful when traveling and doing school work. The display has vibrant colors which I like when I use it for editing photos or videos, plus watching movies. The keyboard lights up which I thought was a cool addition. I highly recommend this laptop.

This laptop is the best investment for gaming I’ve made in awhile. It’s a total powerhouse for everything I’ve thrown at it. I’ve been running games on their highest settings with little to no performance issues! The configuration with the dragon center is a little complicated and the cooling fans can get loud at some times though, but the performance and speed of anything running on the laptop completely outweighs them! I would definitely recommend this mid-high end gaming laptop for a great price given its specs!
