The MSI MAG401QR 40" Ultrawide QHD Gaming Monitor is an outstanding choice for gamers and professionals seeking a high-performance, versatile display. Its 40-inch ultrawide QHD screen with a resolution of 3440x1440 delivers stunning clarity and vibrant colors, making it perfect for immersive gaming and multitasking. The ultrawide aspect ratio provides an expansive view, ideal for open-world games or productivity tasks requiring additional screen real estate.
The gaming performance of the MSI MAG401QR is truly impressive, with a 155Hz refresh rate and fast response time delivering ultra-smooth visuals and virtually no lag, even in fast-paced games like Rust and World of Warcraft. The inclusion of FreeSync Premium further enhances the gaming experience by eliminating screen tearing. Connectivity is another standout feature, with DisplayPort, HDMI, USB, and a highly versatile Type-C port accommodating a wide range of devices. I’ve connected mine to both my Alienware gaming laptop and MacBook, and the ability to seamlessly switch between computers with the press of a button has been a game-changer for my setup. This monitor is ready for buisness and play.
The MSI MAG401QR boasts a sleek black design that is modern and understated, fitting effortlessly into any setup. Its adjustable stand provides ergonomic flexibility for extended comfort, while the robust build quality adds a premium touch. With HDR support, the monitor enhances color and contrast, delivering a dynamic and lifelike visual experience.
The MSI MAG401QR is a high-performance ultrawide monitor with exceptional features and immersive visuals, making it ideal for gamers and professionals. While its large size may not suit smaller desks, and its built-in speakers might not satisfy audiophiles, these minor drawbacks are outweighed by its seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics, offering outstanding value and a top-tier experience.

This monitor is absolutely beautiful and a steal for the price. At first I was very hesitant to buy it because it was a 40 inch monitor and I thought it’d be massive but after 2 to 3 days of using it, I quickly realized that this was the best purchase I’ve made when it came to a monitor the quality of the picture gaming or just using it for every day use is phenomenal and I could not be happier.

I was nervous getting this online since I was not able to see how it functions before i ordered it, bur it was a great decision! I use this for gaming and it was veen wonderful, good display, crystal clesr imsge. I havent had issues with dead pixels or cheap materials. The stand is higg wuality but if yoy plan to mount it make sure it can support the weight. I have a high quality mount i used for my old 27" curved monitor, it was overkill for that monitor but still wasnt enough to hold this one. I would and have recommended this to others, id argue this is more worth your time and money than the odyssey series.

Nice image quality, half-baked software and KVM

I just want to first say that the image quality is very nice and as a monitor, it works well. However, the KVM function is flaky (limited USB), there is only ONE DisplayPort input, and I just confirmed with MSI support that it is not possible to change inputs if the monitor is in standby. Why might that be an issue? Consider this situation: I have my desktop PC connected via DisplayPort (because I want the fastest refresh rate for gaming). I turn that off and the monitor goes into standby. I later decide to plug in my work laptop (fresh Windows install, latest display drivers) into HDMI 1. If the monitor's Auto Scan setting on the source is set to "off", the ONLY ways to wake up the monitor to switch it to HDMI 1 are to either send a signal over DisplayPort (e.g. turn my desktop on) or unplug the power, plug it back in, and quickly open the OSD menu before the monitor goes back into standby. I have never used a monitor that you couldn't manually wake up and change the input.
For size reference, the photo is with two 24" 1080p monitors.

The Mag401qr is a very affordable monitor for those who want a large monitor but dont want to spend almost $1,000 for one. This monitor has a 40" 2k 155hz screen. Even has a Type C with 65w and you can even download the software to manage the settings without having to use the buttons on the back of the monitor.

So I got this monitor to replace an old 32 in 4k monitor that would not display past 30 hz on my macbook, I was hesitant to get it because I wasn’t sure it would work and would get the 140hz or the 155hz overclocked dp mode. Well let me tell you that not only runs at 155hz at its full 3440 x 1440 resolution, its color is great. When you first set it up you will have to use an hdmi cable to get it to work but then using an apple thunderbolt cable and changing the monitor to usb c works like a charm. You will have to set the monitor to overclock dp mode to use the 155hz but I recommend setting R and G to 90 and B to 100, contrast to 60 and brightness to 80 to get a very nice picture. This rivals my studio display and I think this will be my main display and have my studio display as backup.

This is just what i needed to fill in the gap of games that dont fully support surround mode gaming. I did do some tweaking to the nvidia settings when hdr was enabled but it has made my games look amazing. I havent tried it with a console yet but my 4080 super works well and i am able to turn on all the eye candy. Currently i am only using it on hdmi because i allready have all the display ports on my card being used. Capped at 100hz is fine though. Ive been playing Returnal and Ratchet and clank rift apart. Both look amazing and play flawlessly. The picture quality is on par with my Acer predator 27 inch displays. I would reccomend this to anyone looking for a 1440p monitor with 144hz or higher expectations in theor games. Text also looks crisp and movies as well. Very satisfied overall.

This is a really good monitor, great for the price. Just be aware that the USB hub is separate from the usb-c that powers your laptop and sends video signal. Not a problem if it's hooked up to a desktop but if you switch out your personal and work laptops and want your wired accessories to stay usable with whatever computer is plugged in.

Monitor is awesome. Gaming on it is great. Hands down best purchase in awhile. I have a LG C2 48in as my main monitor and this is the second display. Resolution is not 4k but I have 0 text issues. Works well for productivity. All in all, my feet are happy!

Screen is big and it is bright. Quality is good, however, it produced a lot of heat. Screen gets warm after on for 30 minute or so. So I purchased two because after I received the first one I liked so much I ordered the second one. However, screen panel were yellow and dim with all identical settings were applied. So I am keeping one and hate to say but will return the other one soon.
Still go ahead and buy because you cannot beat the price and what you get.

This was the only good IPS ultra wide I could find that wasn’t discontinued I would implore anyone interested in getting an ultra wide monitor for gaming or work to get this one it’s worth every penny only gripe I have is the stand that is included is not adjustable so you will need a third party mount to have it higher, tilt left and right up and down all that don’t worry about it being a 40 inch just buy a mount that supports the monitors weight without the stand and have a sturdy desk to mount it on!

Where this monitor shines is the value you get for all the monitor real estate. This monitor will compete with the LG and Dell ultrawides which cost more than DOUBLE what this is. Offering the same and more features.
This is an excellent monitor for those working from home ( USB C video input, USB A ports, and no power brick!!!)
I love that they went flat with this monitor on top of not requiring a power brick. Making this a massive space saver.
Price to features ratio, this monitor destroys everything in the 38"-40" monitor market.

It's an IPS screen with good specs for the price. Has option of USB C, display port or HDMI but only two USB ports and one USB C limits the KVM functionality
