Customers frequently mention the brightness and ease of use as significant advantages, with many praising the compatibility with Apple HomeKit and the fast response time. However, some users experienced connectivity problems and difficulties with firmware updates. The affordable price point is also a frequently cited positive aspect.

I do not like having to install extra apps on my phone so I wanted something that was compatible with the built-in Apple HomeKit app on my phone. These fit the bill so I decided to give them a try and I am overall satisfied. Quality is good. Setup was easy. The system works well enough. The only complaint I have is that they're not very bright for supposedly being equivalent to 60W traditional bulbs. I hope the company makes a 90W equivalent at some point down the road.

They are very easy to set up with HomeKit, it includes a paper with the three QR codes for setting up. They’re very responsive and you can change the color and the brightness of each individual light, or they can be grouped. They provide a different atmosphere for the whole room, with the app you can set it to different scenes like Blaze, Date Night, Northerns lights, and starlight to name a few. You can also program them to turn on and off with a timer or just depending on the time of the day.

I was hesitant on getting these, but I’m so glade I did. I use Apple HomeKit, they work with that. If you don’t use HomeKit, you can just use the Nanoleaf app.
I like all of the brightness, color and scene options. I love that I can set these to come on or off automatically at a certain time.
I use these in my home office/craft room and love them. I bought two strips, so there is one on the back edge of each desk and one light bulb on the top shelf. Then in our living room we have 3 of the bulbs and it nice to adjust the lighting as needed.

I've purchased 4 sets of these (so far) in order to replace a good portion of my home lighting with smart bulbs and so far I love them. I have several Apple home pod minis so thread networking with Homekit was a big plus for me selecting these. I use them in ceiling cans as a group and in individual light fixtures. I also have some Nanoleaf triangles kits and it's cool how you can create scenes with those and these bulbs all included. The biggest downside of course is price, even though these are on par or less than competing products, but they're still spendy ... but they should last essentially forever.

Love these smart bulbs! The quality of the bulbs feel really nice, the setup was fairly simple, and they even come with a separate QR sheet with serials for each bulb, which is really handy if you ever need to pair/re-pair them while they are installed in a light fixture. Each put out 800+ linens, so a few of these comfortably can light a modest size bedroom. I am using them via HomeKit with an Apple TV acting as a router. Response is super quick and accurate, however, beware there can be a noticeable delay when using these via WiFi without an Apple TV as a router… with that type of setup I had one bulb intermittently go non-responsive via WiFi, so I’d say using HomeKit + an Apple TV is almost essential for the best experience with these bulbs.

I have a whole home of Lifx bulbs that have been a significant amount of work to install and keep working… they hang, disconnect from HomeKit, the family is quite frustrated with them. These Nanoleaf bulbs installed and were connected to HomeKit in a minute or two and were easily controllable from the Home app, no need for the Nanoleaf app other than initial install and firmware updates. Turning them on and off from the Home app is instantaneous, no delay at all. I am guessing this is due to being controlled over the Thread network that we have due to a number of HomePod Minis around the house. I am extremely impressed and happy with the Nanoleaf bulbs.

Switching from Alexa to Apple HomeKit

I’ll try to keep this review short and sweet. I switched from an Alexa to an Apple HomeKit. Despite claimed support Lifx bulbs left a lot to be desired. I gave them four stars so the bulbs are obviously good, if you’ve looking for a relatively inexpensive lightbulb for HomeKit you can stop here because you’ve probably found it. I’ll give a breakdown of pros and cons beneath.
Pros
- Rich range of color.
- Work perfectly with Apple HomeKit.
- Setup is extremely easy.
- Native app provides a good experience, though you don’t need it.
- Wide range of integrations with other apps.
- Inexpensive compared to other HomeKit compatible offerings.
Cons
- Not very bright.
There’s no two ways about it. These bulbs just aren’t very bright. They are maybe only half as bright as the Lifx bulbs I’m coming from. Those bulbs were flawless with Alexa and a standard home Wi-Fi network however when I moved to a new apartment where I can only use a provided mesh network and switched completely to an Apple HomeKit they became extremely problematic.
Seeing as my purpose for these bulbs is to illuminate spaces and change colors the fact that they’re not very bright is too important of a shortcoming to not have to deduct from the review in someway. They are perfect in so many ways but the rooms that I use them to illuminate are definitely darker than I’d like for bulbs at max brightness even when using sunlight white as the color.

I'm currently using these with my apple smart home. They work very reliably and respond nearly instantaneously. The colors are really good. I wish they could be a hint brighter but that's a personal preference so they get a 5 from me for excellent functionality and being reliable.

I have a fairly elaborate smart home setup, utilizing z-wave, Zigbee, wifi, and thread, all through home bridge and HomeKit. I have the Hue hub with 7 bulbs, but I decided to try a less expensive option as I expanded my smart light deployment. I have 3 Nanoleaf A19s and a light strip kit and I have a few comments that I haven't read anywhere else. First, all of the Nanoleaf's shades of white are extremely bright. Way brighter than Hue. However, all of the Nanoleaf's colors are slightly dimmer than Hue. The response time is extremely fast on both. There really is no difference at all. Anyone who is experiencing slow response time is using bluetooth and not using the thread network. One issue my wife finds with Nanoleaf is that they don't get as dim as Hue. She is able to dim our bedroom Hue bulbs from extremely dim (almost appear to be off) to bight and everything in between. The Nanoleaf bulbs at 1% are similar to Hue at 10%. The only issue I find with Nanoleaf is that they are almost always sold out everywhere and Hue are readily available. Overall, I've been very pleased with Nanoleaf and will continue to buy them over Hue due to the low price and very similar performance. 3 Nanoleaf were $40 and 3 Hue were $100 both on sale. Easy choice. Don't forget they require an Apple HomePod if you want Hue-like performance!
