Think nba jam but updated for today. Tons of unlocks led and modes well worth the money. Easy to just pick up and play

This is the closest thing to the old school NBA Jam games that I’ve played. One thing to keep in mind is that you do not start the game with all NBA characters and have to spend a bit of time unlocking them. Unless of course you want to buy them with real money. So that would be my only gripe with this game, however the grind to unlock characters can be rewarding.

Great game for true sports fans out there. Great graphics and family game at a real good and affordable price.

The biggest criticism this game receives is the slow pace to unlocking content. With hundreds of current and hall of fame players to unlock it does take a long time given the slow pace of gaining credits to buy random card packs. However, for casual fans that do not need immediate access to everything, it is perfectly fine. Regular play rewards enough credits to buy your favorite players.

I bought this as a gift to go with the Switch console (didn't want to give just the machine) and this game was on sale very cheap and I figured I would give it a try. It was purchased for an 11 year old boy and he was thrilled with the game!! Absolutely loved it!

I don't know how many of you are old enough to remember the NBA Jam arcade game, but if you do or you are looking for something like it, NBA 2k playgrounds is really quite similar and fun. The gameplay is pick up and play simple but can get quite fun and deep trying to pull of the special moves and such. This is a great game to sit down on a couch with 3 other friends to play as well.

I saw nothing but bad reviews for this..here’s mine. The game is fun kills time and has lots of replay. My ONLYA thing is that you have to play A LOT to unlock players. You get some low class players and you work them up to be better to earn “balls” to unlock other characters. It’s time consuming and repetitive. Thankfully the games last like 2 mins. But you don’t earn enough fast enough

2k has done a good job with this game. It is remarkably better than the first version of the game. I am enjoying the new seasons piece, but I almost miss the single player mode from the first game. I can't figure out way to play the mode where you would travel to different cities and unlock their courts. I also wish the game was a smooth 60fps, but hopefully that can be added in the future.

I am just starting to get back into basketball so I thought this game might be fun. I was correct! Game play is smooth and I have spent some time honing my skills on the digital court. Graphics are solid, sounds not too annoying ( i think most game sounds bug me after a while) and I have yet to get bored. This has kept me busy until the next NBA season

Of course this game dropped to $15 dollars shortly after I bought, but still was worth it. A game you can pick up quickly and just start playing. Something about flying through the air and dunking over the opposing player is just so satisfying. Don’t pick this up for authentic basketball action, but for a quick two on two basketball throwdown.

You have to get used to the controls at first but once you do it is a fun game.

I have never been a huge sport game fan though I did really like the arcade style games like NBA Jam and NFL Blitz which are faster paced and less about picking plays and simulation. NBA Playgrounds 2 is not exactly like NBA Jam, but it does have a similar spirit in that it's a fast paced arcade style game. The gameplay is alot of fun. And that is really important. Games are quick and alot of fun and other diversions like 3 point contest is addicting. Local co-op is also a blast to play. This would be an easy 5 stars if it were not for the unlocking and progression system. You have to unlock pretty much every player on the roster. Most games give you at least a small amount of characters to start with. And this game kinda does that. The way you unlock players is through buying in game "packs" of cards. Those cards are your player unlocks and they vary in cost using in-game currency. You could of course also use real world money via micro transactions. This wouldn't be so bad if the game gave you at least two players from each team. But no, the game gives you a small set of starter packs that give you a few players to start with, around 10. So obviously you wont get enough to be able to play as all teams at first. Because the game is two on two, you need at least two players unlocked to play as that team. So if you are a Lakers fan for example, unless you get at least two Lakers players in the starter packs, you really wont be able to use the Lakers. So you have to grind to earn baller bucks and buy packs in the hopes of getting lakers players. Or you can buy specific lakers players for a huge amount of Baller bucks. This is where the game makes you feel like they want you to spend actual money instead. I got lucky and unlocked Scotty Pippen and another bulls player to start so I have been using the Bulls and I have been earning currency pretty steadily but I have still not unlocked all teams with a minimum of two players each. The game will give you at least enough to start with maybe one or two teams but it might not be the teams you want. And that's what really bogs this experience down. NBA jam had a full roster ready to go. You already are paying for the game. This model makes this game feel like a free to play game or freemium game. It's too bad too because the gameplay is really great.

Just some NBA jam type game. Simple. Pro and con: have to get pts to unlock all the players or simply pay an additional 9.99 to unlock them all or you can see it as countless hours of playtime to get to it, so you can say the game keeps you playing. And theres no Mark Jackson (knicks) on the roster. Boo. Or Patrick Ewing. Only worth $15/20 imo

NBA 2K Playgrounds is an interesting franchise that sits in-between arcade and realistic basketball video games. My 9 year old son is likely too young to enjoy the main NBA 2K series, yet would get bored with more basic basketball video games. Given this, my son is the target demographic for this game: he likes NBA basketball and video games, and the skill level required to play and do well in this game is at a level that may be a little frustrating at first, but allows him to master with reasonable effort. Initially, he could only play the 3 point contest mode because the other modes required too much skill and button/stick coordination to be able to be competitive. However, after he stuck with it, he's now able to play and enjoy all game modes.

Great fun game to play and waste some time . Brings back the NBA Jam feel . Only down side is I hate the shoot meter. Such a small window to operate within and frustration when u hit 80% and still miss the show. The Switch versions portability makes up for the short comings. Worth it if you find it on sale.

NBA 2K has done it again with another fun playing basket ball game that costs under $30 dollars. Great graphics with plenty of different players to unlock and play... Game plays good and the player looks great on the Switch system. Go get you one of these fast playing B-Ball games and enjoy hours of laughs and dunks in your friends face.

My son and I love playing this game. Fun and not tough to play. Wish it was a little easier to upgrade players. Becomes somewhat of a grind to get good players but if you just want a game that is fun and not difficult to play this is it.

Great franchise for sport made games and is just right for the switch. Nintendo has done it again. I do remember nintendo classics like nba jam,super nintendo, and nba hang time on nintendo 64. Thats likeness makes me to play this game like the classics i loved. No mercy on the kiddos
