    Doesn't find its way

The Neato Connected proved incapable of finding its way into areas that needed cleaning such as alongside beds in MB (carpeted) and repeatedly circled and re-cleaned and re-cleaned endlessly around kitchen chairs and table (hardwood flooring). Only after the battery was almost totally expended did it finally make its way from the overly repetitive circling around the Kitchen table and finally into the living room from its start location (due to base location requirements) in the MB. Had the manufacturer or one of the hundreds of reviews bothered to mention the maker suggests/hints the home charging base be located on a hard surface, not a carpeted surface, and that location requires 3 ft. of clear space on both left and right sides as well as the front of the home charging base I never would have even remotely considered the purchase as I have no suitable area and had to resort to placing the base in the MB. The vacuum seemed to pick-up debris well and communicated via the smartphone app when it needed to have help. It was thorough, too thorough in cleaning areas already cleaned and I knew it was mapping and learning the house but enough repetition was enough to the point of being ridiculous and it was returned for refund which was seamless. A nice product, provided your home fits the capabilities and location required for the base station, but it could not cope with the complexity of our smallish 1800 sq. ft. Lakefront home. Run time at the ECO setting was an astounding 1 hour and 10 minutes before it gave up trying to find its way back home.

We bought this to clean up our dogs' hair. Works quite well. It came with an older firmware, so the maps we're not available to the app. But once updated, the feature is helpful. Note that updating the firmware is not done via the app but with a USB flash drive, which was awkward. I would recommend one good cleaning the old fashioned way first before putting this through it's paces.

Vacuum worked like a charm the first time, second time it needed to recharge once to finish the job, third time it recharged twice and still did not finish the job. Best Buy exchanged vacuum and I have not tried it again. If battery stays charged I will be very very pleased with the product. My 1000 sq ft apartment is mainly low shag carpet. Very pleased with how well it vacuumed my carpet.

We oringinally bought the Roomba 960 and were disappointed with it. We have two huskies and the 960 would leave most of their fur behind. It wouldn’t even pick up any bits of kibble that they knocked out of their food bowls. The neato does a great job, perhaps it picks up more than our normal vacuum cleaner. It seems to get stuck less than the Roomba too but the Roomba was a lot better at finding its way home. One other point that I did not read before is at first the neato’s canister seems to be a lot less elegant than the Roomba’s but it’s actually all self contained which makes emptying it very nice.

I love this vacuum, but the barrier tape things are annoying to use. I also tried to use this on my ceramic tiles in my bathroom and it kind of just pushed the dirt around instead of picking it up. HOWEVER , it worked GREAT on my laminate floors! And i love that i can schedule it right from my phone and it sends me a blueprint of what was cleaned after it’s finished vacuuming.

Been debating and holding off for years on purchasing a robotic vaccum . Let me say this I wish I had purchased a long time ago! It does a great job through my home. I highly recommend this product. Connecting to the app was a little bit harder then it should be hopefully it gets updated to make it more user friendly and more features.

Worst Robot Vacuum I've Ever Owned

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've owned the Dyson 360 Eye and just recently purchased the new Roomba i7, after having returned this one for being so horrible. My Dyson began dying on me after 2 years and Dyson seems to have given up on it, so I started my search for a new robot vacuum. Both my parents and step brother talk gushingly about their Neato Connected and how awesome it is. It happened to be the Deal of the Day, so I decided to pick it up for $380. I probably wouldn't pay $3.80 for it. The vacuum is constantly stuck, it can't figure out rooms and map itself, it can't return to it's dock. It's only saving grace, is that it sucks, literally. It's a good at being a vacuum, but it's awful at everything else. It couldn't figure out the kitchen chairs. It wasn't small enough to fit underneath, but apparently the chairs were just tall enough for it to believe it could. We would constantly come home from work and it would have moved the kitchen chairs all around the room. Except for one time, where it got stuck under the kitchen chair and burned rubber for an hour and a half until the battery died, because it believed it was still moving, even though it and the chair weren't budging. I actually have it recorded on my security camera footage. It got to be so bad, that I would actually remove the kitchen chairs and place them in another room, and shut the door so it couldn't get stuck. There were plenty of times where I would come home and it would say it was stuck, with nothing in front of it, in the middle of the room; I'd hit the start button twice and it would continue on. The maps are never even close to what the actual house looks like. I kept it for 30 days, in hopes that it may learn, but each time it came out of the dock to clean, it was like it had never seen that room before. After 30 days, I was officially fed up, returned it, and purchased the Roomba i7, which if you're paying full price for the Neato, is the same price at $699. That vacuum is amazing! Don't waste your money or your time on this. And as an FYI, all my firmware was up to date and the app was up to date.

It's not a REAL Vacuum but it does a really great job. It cleans under places where your vacum cannot get. And it even send you a message with a map if it gets stuck for you to help him out. It is really helpfull to have around. It will never replace a full vacum and house clean up, but it will definitly reduce the amount of times a month you got to do it.

We have 2 large dogs. This vacuum is great for picking up pet hair. It works on both carpeted and smooth flooring. The suction is not strong enough to pull things deep into the carpet but it does a decent job. It maps the room very well making it efficient. It does not have a large dirt collector. It must be emptied after each use. The connectivity to the wifi allows you to be program the unit from your phone and get informed when it gets stuck. The battery and collector limit the area which can be vacuumed. We use it one room at a time but it can handle 2.

I had a Roomba 780, and this unit far exceeds the Roomba performance. It cleans at the walls and corners, doesn't bump into all of the furniture, and is much quicker to clean a room.. The Botvac Connected has an ECO mode which is significantly quieter than the standard mode, and still cleans very well. It is incredible how the unit returns to base for a recharge and then picks up where it left off. It cleans our 2600 sf house and rarely gets lost or stuck. The only issue we've had is that the wifi somehow gets disconnected, and must be re-established - but this is not a difficult task.

It probably looks confusing that I rated something 5 stars that didn't work for me. That said, I recognize I have an overly complicated/cluttered main floor, so I was skeptical I would find any of these that would work in my home. On the positive, the vacuum did a great job in the big open rooms, even navigating from room to room. I did find that it tended to get stock a lot more, typically trying to climb over things or backing over them, or getting stuck under a chair with the square edges. The app also left a little bit to be desired compared to the Roomba, but that is minor. In the end, I spent the extra $180 and got the Roomba 980. The Botvac is certainly a good vacuum if you have a simpler floor plan and little clutter.

We weren't sure it would really work, but decided to try one anyways. Research was either the Neato Connected or Roomba 980. We went with the Neato Connected because the app seemed more developed and the cleaning path was a grid instead of random. Geez, we were surprised at how well it works! It's picking up under furniture, around edges, and does more than three rooms on a single charge. Wish they had this when I was a kid.

Purchased my Botvac Connected just over a month ago. I should have bought it much sooner because I am very happy with the convenience and the way it cleans. I was pleasantly surprised when I first ran the vacuum, and could not believe how much dirt it picked up on my floor. It does an amazing job and vacuums areas that I could not even get to. I had a little difficulty connecting it to my Wi-Fi and my app, but after two tries and watching some YouTube videos, I wonder why I had a problem at all. I have not programmed it to clean at a specific time, but I have used it several times when I wanted to clean by just using the app. It is also possible to stop at in the middle of cleaning, when I am busy in the area where It is cleaning. I am amazed at how efficient it is in cleaning every area of my floors. My carpet cleaners had recommended Neato robot vacuums and said they were very happy with their's. After much research, I decided this was the vacuum for me, it also gives me the flexibility of spot cleaning when needed. And some reviews that said the vacuum was loud but even on turbo I do not consider it loud at all. It may seem a little pricey compared to other vacuums but it is definitely worth the money. I was especially happy that it has the ultra filter because I do have allergies and it seems to be very effective.

I bought this robot because my home is literally almost wireless, so why not a vacuum that can do the whole floors with the push of a button from my cellphone? Laziness? Maybe. But ingenious? Absolutely! I love my Neato, it does everything except empty its own dust bin.. but I already knew that I'd had to do that part.. the only disappointment I have with this Neato is that after it has completed its cleaning cycle, it has problems "most of the time" finding its way back home to its docking base. I've tried placing the base in different areas of my home that won't affect the robot's ability of finding its way back to the base. I'm not saying that it doesn't ever find the docking base, its just not consistent, which worries me if I should program Neato to vacuum my home while I'm away. I'm still tweaking the dock location to better suit this robot's taste, but overall it's one of my best purchase that cleans as well as my push vacuum without me breaking a sweat. The battery staying charged while cleaning is awesome! You won't be disappointed at all with this Neato Connected.

This was my first experience with a robotic vacuum. Worked very well. Impressed with the amount of dirt that it picks up. Noise is no louder than a regular vacuum. Con:moving to a different floor, had some problems with it returning to the dock, deleted it off the app and re-installed it and it works great now!

So clearly this robot can't do anything else than vacuum, but oh does it do that fabulously! We use it every day on our main level and every other day on upstairs and basement (rotating). We have two adults, three kids, and two cats. The biggest things I appreciate: 1. It gets under furniture every time - this in and of itself is fantastic. 2. It encourages us (and the kids) to keep things picked up at end of day 3. The house just generally smells and feels fantastic because the floors are always clean 4. When it cleans on carpet - it leaves beautiful lines! There are some challenges of course. It gets stuck from time to time... we've learned where the problem spots are and made adjustments accordingly (such as blocking the robot from going over an electronic piano stand, rolling up a shag carpet, or making sure a few rugs on hard floor have corners rolled so that it doesn't go under carpet). But honestly - the minus are significantly outweighed by the positives! This thing works two - three hours each day cleaning parts of our house. Its paid for itself within a month.

The Neato is Great for daily cleaning especially since you can tell it to clean and get something else done while your house is being vacuumed. However I still feel like my plug in traditional vacuum gives me a deeper clean but now I can traditional Vacuum less frequently and the neat cleans up in between. Occasionally the vacuum will miss an area roughly 2x2 but I only notice if my room got particularly dirty and I see the difference in the carpet. The connected feature is great and works exactly as advertised

Neato beats Roomba hands down. I have had Roomba vacuums since the beginning. I even purchased the new 980. When I saw the Neato Connect for $200 less I purchased it and found it out performed the Roomba, so the Roomba went back to the store. I have a better vacuum and $200 back in my pocket.
