Ignore the market leaders, checked out you tube and noted this unit has the best results (most collected in dust bin). It's actually very quiet, moves easily from floor to carpet, goes under the furniture, is so efficient I definitely have to clean the bin every cycle it goes out. House is now surprisingly less dusty too. The way it covers the areas and the straight edge helps clean every corner. The brush is actually a soft plastic and it actually seems to shine or polish slightly the wooden floors. Easily disassembles if you have to remove hair or animal hair from the roller. Every aspect was well thought out. Purchased two more for each of my daughters.

After much research and comparison with the Roomba, the Neato D80 was the best choice. This thing sucks!!!....In a good way! The mapping system rocks, the brush bar is larger and the suction is superb. The Neato will vacuum the perimeter first and get its bearings with the area and then it goes back and forth in a uniform manner. This is a much better process than the Roomba's lackluster performance of random paths. The only negative with this machine, and ALL vacuums like it, is the small collection bin. That's it. If you are on the fence about which robot vacuum to buy, just buy this one and try it out. You won't be disappointed.

I love this vacuum, it works better than my Dyson! I have convinced several friends and family members they need one too. I did have to replace the battery at 8 months, but other than that, it’s been a great machine. Have had it for 1 year now.

I have owned the Botvac D80 for six months and have been generally happy. The Botvac cleans our floors each day and has plenty of dirt in its trey as proof of its effectiveness. With that said, the Botvac also gets stuck pretty frequently. About 1/2 of the time, I come home to find it stuck and beeping somewhere in the house. Also, its battery is having trouble now. I contacted the manufacturer and they said the battery is likely dead from the Botvac being used 5 times per week. Luckily, a new battery is only $40! I would recommend this product, but I would also recommend that consumers consider an alternative that allows mobile application integration. This feature might allow them to eliminate areas that the bot might get stuck in, or to prompt its use from afar.

We own a chocolate lab and golden retriever- needed daily vacuum/sweeping to avoid the unbelievable amount of dog hair. We also both suffered from allergies. Now, we run the Neato nearly every day and it has made a great difference. My only complaints are that sometimes the Neato repeats its cleaning path/area too much and sometimes gets stuck under furniture that is just BARELY to low for clearance in some places. Oh, and we returned the first one because the screen went out (it happened in first 2 weeks), and we got extended warranty after that. For us, totally worth the money and we're happier with cleanliness of house!

My first purchase was a bust. The electronics were messed up. The unit wouldn't charge properly and it wouldn't take commands in an orderly fashion. I took it back within the allowed "return period" and Best Buy gave me a replacement.
The new unit works fine. I bought two extra, 15 foot magnetic strips to work around some challenges in two rooms. We have oriental rugs and the vacuum has major problem with fringe longer than 1.5 inches. So you have to keep it away from the edges of the rugs.
The suction on the vacuum is very good. It cleans bare floors and rugs equally well.
Given the different levels in my house and number of items that need to be removed from the floor before the Neato can go to work, I really can't just let it run on its own. The areas are too large (1,000+ sq ft) and the Neato runs out of power but the charger is on another level. So I sit in the room and do paperwork and monitor the progress. However, for an area like the kitchen, which can be closed off, the Neato can be left alone to do its work.

I absolutely LOVE this vacuum! Watching it navigate through the house is very interesting, also to learn what kind of obstacles it can get stuck in and also how many spots it has gotten stuck in and watched it get out of - by itself! It will swivel/raise it's butt up/swivel until it gets free, if not it will beep to notify you that it is stuck.
It has been also amazing how much stuff this vacuum picks up! I have even ran it one day after I vacuum with my regular upright (that has really good suction too) and I am still surprised at how much is collected in the dirt bin (I bought this to help keep up with pet hair & dust between regular vacuuming).
In cleaning mode (i.e. whole house) it will return to its docking station and recharge if needed and when charged will launch off to complete cleaning where it left off.
Be aware that besides emptying the collection bin there are also sensors/wheels/brushes and bushings that need regular maintenance.

After doing lots of research comparing Neato to Roomba, my wife and I settled on Neato as being the better option for us. We've got a short haired dog that sheds some, so we wanted something to help with daily maintenance of our townhouse. We love that the Neato can be scheduled, works in a pattern, and has the ability to run until the battery dies, then charge itself and pickup where it left off. The only issues we've had so far is it is a little bit finicky - getting stuck on things it should be able to get over and focusing in on an area that is already pretty clean. Functionally I think it compares to the current high-end Roomba with the exception that this model Neato is NOT wifi connected/ app controlled. All that said, we're happy with our purchase and having a slightly lighter workload!
We're giving this 4 stars because of the finickiness described above plus it does a good enough job of vacuuming, but it does miss some small spots.

I own 3 of these. They quietly run around my house every other night at 4am and keep things clean.
Sometimes I forget I have them, until they remind me to empty the dirt bins. I appease them and forget about them again for another week or two(depending on traffic in the house). Even with my two cats I've never had to empty them more than once a week. They each do about 900 sq feet.
I'm not a crazy heavy sleeper but they have yet to wake me up(with 3 running simultaneously) even when they get under my bed and furniture in my bedroom.
Sometimes I'll forget and leave something on the floor they get tangled in. They won't destroy it. Just stop and start beeping in intervals to tell me they need a hand. A regular vacuum would tangle in the same item if you tried to roll over it.
I wake up to a pleasant square vacuum pattern in my rugs every other morning. I hear other products just leave chaotic zigzag mess. :)

Since we have two cats they shed like crazy and vacuuming was annoying because we'd have to do it at least every other day. We only have one at the moment but are considering purchasing another for upstairs. The cats mostly hang out downstairs so we stationed the Neato down there. Now we never have to vacuum downstairs and the cat hair is practically non existent. Best purchase we've made because it gives us extra time to do other things. Now if only Neato made robot mops then we'd be set.

After debating if I should "waste money" on a robotic vacuum, I finally threw caution to the wind and bought my Neato. I researched all brands, and found that the Neato's reviews were just as good as the Roomba, but cost much less. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and several people told me that Neato would do a better job. So, after trying to talk myself out of it, I gave in and bought it as a "Merry Christmas to MEEE" present.
When it arrived, I told myself that I would test it, be disappointed, and quickly return it. No such luck. After setting it up, my dogs and I sat on the couch and watched our new addition go to work. It got a bit confused in the dining room, with all the chair and table legs, but it didn't give up. It glided over the throw rugs without getting stuck, and made it's way through the entire first level on one charge. It cleaned just as well as my regular vacuum, missing just the areas it could not reach. It couldn't find it's way back to the charger, but after the adventure it went on, I was not surprised or disappointed.
When my son came home from school, I made him sit in the family room with me (and the dogs,) and we watched Sir Neato Burrito clean the entire rug. I still cant get over how smart that little guy is. I think I've finally found my soul mate in a robotic vacuum!
The ONLY down side is the barrier. I found that Neato would push it and he came close to eating my Christmas Tree Skirt. I solved that issue by putting a box behind the barrier to keep Neato from moving it.
Needless to say, I will NOT be returning Neato. He proved his worth and is staying. My dogs may not be happy about it, but they need to remember that they were once the newbie too. LOVE my Neato!

Awesome robotic vaccuum for dog hair

I have 3 dogs that shed constantly. I was looking for a robotic vacuum that would take over the daily chore. I have about 1200 sq ft of kitchen, living, and dining room with normal furnishings. Kitchen has an island, dining room has table with 6 chairs, and the living room has normal 7 or 8 furnishings of tables, chairs and couches. Floor surfaces include tile, hardwood, and area rugs. After I figured out to tie up window treatment cords and lamp/phone wires all was smooth sailing. I run this every morning after I leave for work. It does a great job on all surfaces. The hardest part was finding 6' of clear wall space to place the vacuum's docking station. You will also want to put some pads under your couch legs if there is not enough clearance for the robot. I was amazed how easy it is to run, clean, and maintain. Just empty the dirt bin, and occasionally clean the brushes and sensors. I find daily cleaning works best for me because if too much dirt/hair gets in the storage compartment, suction is reduced and it picks up less and less.
I still use a normal vacuum, but now only every two weeks, when I wash the floors. I cannot compare this to any other robotic vacuum, and trusted the reviews online for my purchase. I hope this helps for your decision.

Great Daily Vacuum

Awesome little vacuum that can be cleaning while not home. Suction is better than I thought by looking into the waste bin after every cleaning. Gets into corners and other areas better than its competitors due to its design. Battery power is awesome and returns to its docking station to recharge then complete it's task. Would purchase another for second floor cleaning.
The only gripe I have is the vaccum does not like thick rugs. The device tends to get stuck and shut down stopping the cleaning. Only way to combat this is to either roll up the rug during cleanings or purchase additional magnetic strips (product comes with at least 6 feet of magnetic stripping) to repel the device. Easy fix for a vacuum that does so much, easing those major cleanings on a specific day.
Oh, and make sure you run during the day while out because it is a little loud.

We have a white cat with dark hardwood floors. I had previously been sweeping every other day to keep the area clean, which takes a ton of time. Now I just set the vacuum to run while I'm at work and come home to a clean house. The only issue I've had is with small items (really just one particular cat toy) on the floor which the vacuum understandably gets stuck on.

I recently replaced my 4 year old Neato with this and am delighted with the improvements... longer run time, more intelligent obstacle avoidance & correction, and very good cleaning. Understand that this will never replace a full-sized, manually operated vacuum but it does a great job keeping on top of the "light" work. It works well on hard floor surfaces and carpeting both. Can't compare to the iRobot but the design just makes much more sense to me than a circular device. This hits corners and edges very throughly and even cleans under most furniture. It is expensive but a helpful "hand" around the house.

My husband and I have decided that this is one of the best presents we have EVER given ourselves!
We have a hairy shedding dog and a bird.
After being hesitant about buying a robotic vacuum cleaner, thinking that it would be a waste of money, and just another piece of junk in the house, my husband talked with a friend that told him about his robotic vacuum cleaner, and how much he loved it. Well, he gained our interest and we decided to look through the reviews on line and the reviews led us to Neato. I liked the Neato better because it does corners and maps out the room. It seems that the Roomba bounces around randomly, but not the Neato. It's on a mission.
Well, we bought the Neato, and I have to say that we both love it. I wish that I had gotten one sooner. My house it ALWAYS clean now. No hair ball tumble weeds kicking around. The furniture needs dusting less...It's great.
When we first ran it, I thought Holy Cow, what Pigs we are. It did such a great job!
Molly, our Neato is a loved part of our family. She gives me freedom. She's not very loud, she goes back to her charger on her own. I'd give her ten stars if I could.
All in all, I will always have a robotic vacuum, preferably a Neato.

Personally, I like the cleaning pattern of Neato's robot better, comparing to their competitors. More details can be found from their official website. I use the robot every other day to clean up my dog's hair. The only problem is I have move all my dog's toys from ground, especially ropes, before activate the robot. Otherwise, robot can get stocked by toys easily.

I first saw this unit at a customer's house, did the research and comparisons to all other units, in my opinion, the Neato D80 is by far the best value and I am still amazed at how well she( Hazel) cleans. I like the systematic logical pattern, gets every inch of floor clean, transitioning from carpet to tile effortlessly.

This is a great vacuum. It is easy to use, easy to program, easy to clean.
I have had 3 other robotic vacuums of another brand, and I am sold on this one. It has a much better program for cleaning, and picks up more debris than the others I had. The brush is easy to remove and clean, and it comes with a little scraper.

Much less expensive than similar Roombas but pack a punch. Great suction and large dirt container. Even works great on a thick pile oriental rug we own. Only downside is that it is very loud - though still quieter than a regular vacuum cleaner. Great value for the buck.
