Excellent cleaner, but didn't work in my warehouse

I've owned a more popular / expensive brand of vacuum robot. I knew that other brand would not work in a warehouse setting but I hoped the Neato would work.
The good: it's definitely more powerful, and has a far better brush for hard floors. I was very surprised at how effective it was on my concrete floor. Navigation is far more deliberate than the other unit, it makes obvious passes in rows.
The OK: it's pretty loud, like a little airplane. Probably because of the rubber blades smacking the floor.
The bad: I think my warehouse lighting and sheer openness of space confused it. It wasn't able to return home. But it did leave a very obvious clean area behind.
I'm bummed it didn't work out, but note that *no* devices are available to clean a really really large, open space.
If I am in the market for a new unit in a home setting, I would choose Neato.

It cleans well but i've noticed if you don't put the base in a wide open area, it will have trouble scanning the room. The directions recommend a 3' x 3' wide open area, i would recommend more than that.
It is also very loud on hardwood floors because it doesn't have brushes but more of a thin plastic/rubber bar in place of brushes. It's not nearly as loud if you have carpet. It has no problems going over obstacles and gets itself unstuck easily.
All in all i would buy again for the price over the roomba

Maneuvers under beds and couches well.
Somewhat loud but very efficient.
Sweeps into corners with angled sides.
Sometimes gets "confused" if moving from tiles to a space rug and will slowly spin. (I only operate the cleaner if I am home in case it spins on the hardwood ... Don't want markings left behind.)
Overall, very pleased with this product and highly recommend it for light cleaning!

This robot is definitely better than the ones I have had in the past. My biggest concern is that my other robots had brushes that had bristles, this one only had rubber rotation devices and I am never picking hair out of this one compared to the old ones. I guess I will have to look more closely at the bin to see if the hair is there but aside from that, we are very happy with our lil robot

It is so exciting to come home and have the dog hair gone! I have two labs and the hair is unbelievable. I do have to empty the bin daily which is not a big deal since I don't have to vacuum daily now! My only concern after having the Neato since December is that the dirt bin doesn't stay in well. I do have geek squad protection so I will be taking it in soon. Buy the protection- lots of moving parts=lots more can break.

Great Robotic Vac

I have four dogs and hardwood throughout most of the house. Neato XV (Ned is what we named it) vac starts on schedule and usually goes for 70 minutes until returning to station for recharge. After recharging he goes right to the same place where he left off and finishes the job. This could possibly be one of the best investments I have made. It amazes me on how he seems to know where the corners and legs of chairs are every time, and doesn't do a bad job in corners. He does not like long table cloths and curtains as printed in the instructions, he is a climber if he comes across the base to a floor lamp, but he backs up after a minute or two. I am very pleased and would highly recommend, and don't forget , four dogs live here and Ned gets the fur up.

While the first unit was never quite right (took six tries to discover the whole first floor) the replacement unit is everything we hoped it would be. Bravo for Neato!

This little guy picks up an amazing amount of dust and hair. I have wood floors and two cats but this vacuum does a great job at keeping it clean. Be warned, it is noisy - I measured it at 90 db ( same as my Dyson ) - but as long as it keeps cleaning this good, I don't care. I took advantage of Best Buy's price match together with Neato's rebate and got it at a really good price.

Was looking for a robotic vacuum for a home we have in Catalina. We have mostly hardwood floors, and a yellow lab. Neato does a great job picking up the dog hair.

We recently moved to a new home with a mixture of tile and carpet. I had been wanting a robot to help keep the floors clean, and the tile shows (and feels) the dirt pretty easy. When this was on a daily deal at a very good price, and had a 4+ star rating, I figured it would be a good time to see how it worked for us.
So, we've had running every day for about a week and a half. I can't speak to it's longevity, but I think we've used it enough to form a fair opinion about it.
So let's start with the good: it does seem to pick up a lot of stuff. It has no issue with transitioning from tile to carpet, or even on our short napped area rugs. Except for one couch , our furniture is low enough that it doesn't go under them. (the other one causes some problems, more on that later). Overall, it keeps our floors clean-er without one of us having to run the regular vacuum.
It does have it's own "personality" though. Our house is bigger than it can clean entirely on it's maximum three cycles because it spends a lot of time working it's way around chairs, kitchen island, end tables, etc. But it does get most of the house one day, and most of the rest the next, as it seems to alternate patterns.
It's gotten "lost" a couple times, where we had to put it back on the charger. Other times it hums along like a clock. If it gets under the one couch, it's guaranteed to get stuck, as the ends of the couch are lower than the middle. When that happens, it's lift couch up to recover the robot.
The battery capacity is pretty small. It'll run about 55 minutes, then go back to the charger for two hours, and is limited to 3 cycles of this before it decides it's done for the day. (must be union rules or something!)
But the absolute worst thing about it is it is LOUD on the tile floor. Not just a litle loud, but LOUD loud! I attribute that to the solid brush that does such a good job in the cleaning department. It was our hope to run this over night, on the schedule, but we don't want to wake the neighbors. On the carpet, it's very acceptable. You can even have a normal level conversation while it's working.
Overall, we are happy with it so far. The price was low enough that if it doesn't last, we won't feel completely ripped off. It does a good job of cleaning (at least it always has dirt in the bin when we empty it), and with it saving us pushing the big vacuum around so much, the minor inconveniences don't seem that bad. And it does provide a certain entertainment value in watching it zoom around.
So, I'll check the "recommend" box, but if I were talking to that friend, I'd certainly qualify that recommendation that it's not perfect.

We've got a career shedder--he turns his coat over every 7 days--so vacuuming or sweeping our hardwood floors is a necessity every other day. Enter the Neato Robotics XV Signature robot vacuum. Robo does an awesome job of picking up most of the hair. It won't get under our couch b/c of the height, but gets right under coffee tables and recliner chairs without a problem. It requires a return to its charging station to finish up, so sometimes there's a lag of 2-3 hours before it sets off again to finish, but we have it running in the middle of the day so by the time we get home it's done. It doesn't always find its charging station, but that might be because of the placement, something we'll change once we get settled into the house (we just moved in about a month ago). But it is soooo nice coming home and having the majority of the floors free of our dog's hair.
Overall, a great purchase that is well worth it.

I recently upgraded to this Neato after owning the XV-21. This one is louder however is much faster in cleaning the floors. I love the overall product of Neato. I have two German shepherds and this helps me keep my floors hairless!

Pretty great. Always wanted one. Does exactly what I thought it would. Had to find an open spot on the wall for it. It does have trouble with some low items like chair feet. You have to make sure everything is picked up off the floor. That doesn't go well with me trying to be a slob. Duh. thats why I got this thing.

This is an excellent purchase for apartments and households with no more than one furry pet. If you happen to have more than one pet, children and multiple floors, you will need to purchase a Neato for each floor and maintain them on a regular basis. You will be surprised how much human hair will get stuck in the vacuum's brush and prevent it from no longer working.

I was debating between which Roomba model to get when I stumbled upon this one! I read the reviews and decided I liked what I read. I have used the Neato 3 times already. I like that is finds the borders of the room then meticulously goes back and forth until all the area is covered. It will re position itself to get in and around objects but I decided it is to my benefit to just remove any large obstacle instead of letting it puts around with it (like I moved all my dining room chairs out of the way so it can do a straight shot back and forth.) :The canister is easy to empty, and I am taking the suggestion I read in other reviews to lighty wash and dry the filter to give it more longevity. So far so good!

Vacuum does an excellent job cleaning hardwood floor and robot logic sufficiently covers desired area. Avoids obstacle. Battery life could be longer, but doesn't impact performance too much because it recharges and then restarts cleaning where it left off.
