I purchased this game with my PS4. The game has very solid gameplay, graphics and sound. I found the main career mode to be lengthy and provide a lot of content. You must be a PS+ member to play the game online in any way and will be constantly reminded of that every time you start the game.

I'm not a big racing game fan and I'll be honest I picked up NFS:Rivals to have something to play on PS4 as the launch of a new console means slim pickins for games for the first 6 months. Let me tell you that this game is not a filler launch title. NFS: Rivals is a blast! The graphics are incredible and the gameplay is top notch. Single player and multiplayer are integrated seamlessly and being able to switch between the racer and cop campaigns almost at will is a nice touch. There are plenty of missions/ modes/ events other than just racing so there is plenty to do. The down side is that it seems like there is only one large area to race around in but no other tracks or areas. This area/zone is quite large, but it would be nice to have some different areas/zones to explore. I haven't gotten too far into the campaigns so it's possible more areas to race in will open up as you progress through the game. Anyone looking to do more in a racing game than to collect 1000's of cars or drive aimlessly around an island (talking to you forza and GranTourismo) should check out NFS:Rivals.

I like the game so much, I've played all of the versions so far since the very first one and I think this is the best ever, of course there is always room for improvement but this is really really good game. I personally like that you can choose to play either mode as runner and as a police force. Personally I enjoy NFS Rivals a lot.

The graphics are really good and cars that become available are great. Now it does take a while to get good at this game as it is pretty difficult.

I recommend this game for any fan of the NFS series. The open world and various missions keep things fresh and you can also play as racer or cop. The cars and environments look great and the gameplay is what you have come to expect from the NFS series. The tech you can add to your vehicles is alot of fun too. Plenty to do in this game. If you're a fan of racing games, be sure to pick this up!

OK, so I really like need for speed games. They handle easily and just have you race. This was my first PS4 racing game and I wasn't necessarily ready for the advantages and disadvantages of the always online aspects of the game. First of all, there is a way to go offline. It isn't necessarily something that most people would look for, but until you get the hang of the game, you may really want to turn the internet off. When I was first learning how to play (slower car, no weapons, etc.), I was constantly being attacked by other players ( who can play as the cop). This means that while I was still trying to learn where to find jumps, shortcuts, how to use the controls, etc., none of my points were adding up because I would keep getting beaten be other online players. Now that I know more what I am doing, the game is even better because of the online connectivity. So, in short the online/always on inter connectivity is both a feature and a detriment. Turn the feature off for a week or two, enjoy the game, then turn it back on and enjoy the game even more!

REVIEW OF: Need for Speed: Rivals , PlayStation 4 [ PROS ] - Multiplayer online game: 2 to 6 players. - Well known Publisher: EA (Electronic Arts) - Highly Entertaining! - Worth the price. - Excellent sound effects. - You can save your made progress. - Graphics are aesthetically appealing, especially every cars realism. - Game soundtrack has well-known music artists. (I.e Machine Gun Kelly). - the game maintains its classic 'easy-to-handle Arcade style' driving feature. - Multiple viewing perspectives: (atop car, interior of car-front window view). - training mode is simple, fun, and worth taking the time to complete, but not necessary. Train as a cop or outlaw. - Game can be learned but is far more enjoyable after completing driving lessons\training. [ CONS ] - Game is online or Single player only vs computer. Does not have p1 vs p2 mode. - This game has so many hours of content that it cannot be completed in just 1 day. - ESRB rating is ESRB10+, which is a bit low due to this game promoting irresponsible driving habits.

In this game you can be he cop or he racer which makes it more fun and attractive to play. The graphics are great and the sound gets the player involved. Is very challenging from the beginning so it could be frustrating if is your first racing game. I gave it a five since is not my first one.

Pretty sure I haven't played Need for Speed in over 15 years and hadn't had any real desire until my son begged me for two weeks to buy it and we got it on sale. And as I'm typing this review, my son is currently playing the game and I'l be playing right up until noon when NFL games start. When we first bought the game, he and I played it non-stop. I'd even play it until 1 or 2 in the morning, and I'm a head to bed by 10:30 kind of guy. It took a while for me to really get a good feel for driving the cars, and I'm still not as good as I'd like to be. I can't tell you how many times I've been flying down some road and driven head-on into a tree or another car. Getaway driver is not in my future. The game is full of a lot of excellent features. I like that you can play as either the criminal or the cop. At first I thought it was our civic duty to play as the police, but man is speeding away from the cops or crashing into them a ton of fun! I'm always having to remind my son (he's 10) that "this is not something we do or condone in real life." Not that I ever worry that one day he'll turn into a hoodlum, but I still think it needs to be said. I also like how, for me, my gameplay is combined with others playing online as either criminals or police. It definitely adds to the challenge. What I don't like is that my son cannot play in this mode as EA has decided that it as a company should be in charge of what my son plays online. I get that the game and the online server is a product that the company owns and that I have the privilege of playing on, but my son is missing out on a great component of the game and unfortunately cannot utilize unless I create him a fake account. This is not something I'm going to do, which means he either has to play on my account (which he does with Star Wars Battlefront) or play the game offline. This is why I give the game 4 stars and why I have decided to not give any EA game a full 5 stars until something changes in the online arena.

I've played all sorts of racings games from the super realistic all the way to Mario Kart. This one is kind of a mixture of all of them thrown together. The graphics are beautiful and the changes in weather/time of day are very realistic, as are the cars. The racing though isn't quite so realistic. You have tech add ons to your car that disable other cars around you for example. I like the way that there are challenges that you need to complete to get to the next level and unlock better cars. All in all if you want a realistic racer then you should go for GT6 on the PS3, Forza on the XBox One, or wait for Drive Club on the PS4. If you want a fun Burnout-esque racer, then this is the one to get.

    Nice addition to the franchise

Need for Speed Rivals is a nice addition to the Need for Speed franchise. If you like Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, you'll enjoy this game. The story is alright, but you don't expect much of a story from the NFS series. It's more about driving around powerful cars, completing objectives and just plain having fun. It's got a good car line-up for both the cops and racers. The performance and visuals upgrades for racers are not overly complicated, making you spend less time in the garage and more time terrorizing the streets. For the cops there aren't any performance mods, but you do get pursuit tech for bringing those racers back in line. Visually, this is a stunning game. The scenery is nice to look at and the car details are great. The car sounds have a real life quality to them. Controls are pretty much the same as all the Need for Speed games. At least they're sticking with what works. Now the bad...... This game is considered always online. There's no multiplayer or single player campaign. When you start, you are online and there are other players racing around the streets doing exactly what you are doing. This brings about the fact that there is NO PAUSE for this game. You're either playing or in the garage. If life happens and you have to put down the controller for something, you better hope that you're not being pursued by the cops or in the middle of a race. The soundtrack. Well, what music there is isn't great, but I guess it all depends on your taste in music. Most other NFS games have a good or great soundtrack. This one is seriously lacking. However, the exhaust notes from the cars do make beautiful music, if that tickles your fancy.

I love racing games, and I like the Need for Speed games. The only down factor for me is that you see the scenery probably 20 times (exaggerating) if you play for a couple hours. Otherwise, its a good game.
