I picked the Netgear after hearing the best coments on them and the "ac" since it will work for all wifi up to ac level in the future. I set it up quickly after plugging it in just following the online directions. It extented outside to give reception in a trailer with the password from the wifi. I hope to carry it with me to use in other places.

Perfect! Easy to set up using the nighthawk app. Connected the ps5 using an Ethernet cord to the port on the side and tripled my download speed down in the basement. 25 min to set up after installing the updates for the device.

I have a 2 story 3600 sq ft house. I subscribe to Xfinity Extreme Pro 500 Mbps internet. The modem is in Master Bedroom closet and the upstairs gets great Wifi while the signal is weak downstairs or outside. Based on the promise this device would deliver up to 1200 Mbps, I thought it would be great for extending my signal. After purchasing the device I was able to install it seamlessly, and moved the extender. The lights on the extender revealed strong connections to my modem and my wireless devices. In spite of this, loading web pages while connected to either the 2ext or the 5ext network was extremely slow and some didn’t load at all. I expected there to be some loss of speed using an extender, but I was shocked when I ran Speed tests on my devices, and discovered the extender but my speed from 509 Mbps to 15 Mbps! I ran multiple speed tests using iPad and iPhone. All tests showed the original network running at a minimum of 498 Mbps, while the networks created by the extender ran between 5.38 - 24.5 Mbps. Even more shocking was when I returned the item to the store the next day and spoke with one of their sales people about it, he said it was perfectly normal and despite the package saying it could deliver “up to” 1200 Mbps, I shouldn’t expect that. I then asked him what product I should buy to extend my Wifi that wold still maintain speed, and he said none of them would do that and I just had to choose between a fast but weak signal, and a slow strong one. The attached photo shows how this device reduced my speed. The 1st and 4th lines (5.38 and 24.5), are speeds I achieved using this device on the 5ext network. The 2nd and 5th lines are on the 2ext network. The 3rd and 5th lines are using my original network.

Could not connect to http://mywifiext.local/ when trying to connect to my router via WPS Tried the Nighthawk App but the app struggled to connect to NETGEAR_EXT, and kept restarting the setup over and over. Finally, was able to get the thing set up using my laptop and connect to http://mywifiext.local/. The speeds were much slower than my router. I figured that this would be overkill since my house is a little over 2000 sq ft, but I was wrong. My speeds ranged from 12 Mbps down / 1 Mbps up to 40 Mpbs down / 22 Mbps up. My router was 100+/80+ respectively in the same locations. I tried several locations, but the screenshot was the best speed I was able to get. The final straw is my smart doorbell wouldn't connect to it no matter what I tried. I had a separate SSID/network name with "_EXT" suffixed to the end. I turned off 5G. Would not connect no matter what. Put the "extender" back in the box and will return it.

The initial setup was easy enough, and it worked well for 3 weeks. Then, it quit booting up. The solid amber power light indicates that it cannot complete the boot up process. Power cycling and factory resets have not helped. The failure happened after the BestBuy return window, so I am dealing with Netgear tech support now.

I was having trouble getting a wifi signal upstairs, approximately 40 feet away, and through 3 rooms, from my router. My signal strength beforehand, at best, was showing 15% from my PlayStation and my Amazon Fire. The signal dropped often and was ticking me off to no end. I read some reviews and narrowed my choices down. I went to Best Buy and the sales person highly recommended this one. The setup was relatively easy; about 15-20 minutes and I was ready to go. I placed it about halfway between the router and the upstairs devices, in a downstairs room. Now, the signal strength is usually in the 70% range. I did notice a drop in signal, after about 2 weeks. Turned out the channel on the router was crowded. I called the internet provider and they changed the channel used. My signal is good again. If you are getting little to no good signal, I would recommend this booster. Price was good, setup was easy, and it works. I was a little disappointed that the signal strength wasn't even better; I thought the 80-90% range would be maintained but, I do get a pretty consistent signal, so, I won't complain.

My home has only one Ethernet connection - the one at the source downstairs inside my fuse box and cable modem box cabinet. It is in a finished basement kitty-corner to the side of the house where the television sits, so it would take major tearing up and finishing work to run a Cat-5 line to the upstairs where the television is and where people want to log on to portable devices wirelessly. Portable devices work acceptably well upstairs due to a decent router (D-Link DGL-5500), but there is not enough signal strength to wirelessly stream movies on my smart blue-ray player in the family room on the main floor. I purchased this Netgear AC1200 range extender (model # EX6150) and it solved my problem - plenty enough power to stream HD movies online with no viewing issues. It was very easy to set up. Do make certain you follow the simple instructions because they show you how to walk the booster outlet by outlet further away from the wireless source in order to make the most out of its range potential. I am pretty tech literate, but on the other hand I am working full time and going to school full time - I just do not have time to tinker and troubleshoot problems. I want to set something up quickly, simply, and then forget it is there. This range booster does exactly that! I like Netgear. I have owned several of their routers and found those to be similar to this product - they work well, last a pretty long time without glitches, and are very easy to set up.

This device saved me the trouble of wiring up from my basement up to my 2nd floor, I had my modem and main router in the basement in which I get 55 MBps, however the 2nd floor was getting from 2.x to 5MBps at best, so I decided to go ahead and give this a try. The Good: Very simple setup. Really worked well, I went up to 45~49 MBps in my second floor. The Bad: For a reason beyond my comprehension, after few hours (some times 10 hours, 28 hours, 48 hours) the devices got a good signal but not connection at all !!! I tried to troubleshoot, unsuccessful, checked my channels on the WiFi and upgraded all the possible firmwares from my router (even replaced my home router by another one just in case the WPS was bad on my router, same results). At the end, the only way to fix the issue was to unplug this extender and let it 5 seconds and reconnect it back, then everything works like a charm for the next day or so. This behavior repeated for a week, so I'm returning this unit. Finally, I recommend anyone to give it a try and if you don't get that data connectivity lost (remember, signal always stays full) then you will be happy because it's really a life saver.

I recently purchased this to extend my coverage of wifi where I am directly behind a wall with a refrigerator so coverage in this room adjacent was spotty at best. Now it is back to high speed. I found this easy to set up. I also was able to get my wireless printer back up and running because I can choose the 2G network. I like that I have the option to chose. This has been a great asset to wifi issues that I always had in one room in my house. My house is small, roughly 1200 square feet, so this fit the bill and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend! Side note: I could not get my X-finity pods to work after contacting and spending hours on the phone. I am glad I went this route!

Bought this to give my wifi enough reach into my garage so my wifi garage door opener would work. Setup went fairly smoothly but it's not very clear how to use the Nighthawk app at first. Took a few tries for it to detect the extender. When setting it up, it had no problem extending the 2.4Ghz network, but not the 5Ghz one. For whatever reason, the Nighthawk app didn't recognize that my phone was connected to my 5Ghz network even though it definitely was. Not sure if this was an issue with the Nighthawk app or the range extender. As it stands now, I'm not sure if it's actually extending the 5Ghz network or not, but it definitely is for the 2.4Ghz network.

My wife and I work from home and rely heavily upon our gigabit internet service. I have an Apple Airport Time Machine router in my office, which is several walls between her and her computer. I average speeds of 180mpbs because of my proximity to the router and its 5ghz band. We picked up this extender in hopes that it would extend the 5ghz band far enough for her to connect and enjoy the gigabit speeds. It delivered. She went from averaging 6-7mbps to 120mpbs on both up and download. Setup was super simple. She's happy, so I'm happy. Would recommend as a solid wifi extender.

I was a little skeptical at first that this product would actually improve the wifi coverage in my house. I have a staircase and brick wall that was really impairing the signal in my bedroom. Easy to set up and I was pleasantly surprised of the performance since. Now I can stream Netflix via my ps4 with hardly any degradation at all when previously I couldn't do a thing. A lot cheaper solution than upgrading to a new ac router.
