Works well with Comcast but some annoyances

I got this to replace my Comcast Xfinity modem that I was paying $15 per month on. Overall the modem works well and I am happy with the product but there are some annoyances.
I got it on sale and it was well worth the sub $100 price. For that price, I feel it is a steal.
Setup was easy. I called Comcast and gave them the MAC address and setup took 15 mins. There is no wifi on this device and it requires a WiFi router. Not a problem for me as I have Google wifi and just needed the modem.
Handles Comcast system well and I got 300Mpbs speed which is what I am paying for. All worked as expected.
The reason for the 4 stars is because it took me a while to get the WiFi router connected. After some research I realized that I can only added the WiFi router to the 1st Ethernet port. The others do not work for a router or switch. This seems silly to me. If you need the 4 ethernet ports on the back and a WiFi router than this will not work for you. I have a bunch of Ethernet devices so now I have to buy a larger Ethernet switch to handle them. All in all not a bad thing and given the price of the unit, it is well worth it.

The best option for cable modems

The best option for cable modems. No really, I normally would have nothing nice to say about a cable modem but that was back when I would use the default from my cable provider or buy one from some other provider. Since switching to Netgear a few years ago I have had nothing but great speeds and hardly any downtime. When I bought this model it was not that I needed to replace a non-working model. It's that I also upgraded my Orbi wifi router and I wanted a modem that handled the faster speeds that the Orbi could shell out. I already had the super-fast internet but needed both the modem and router to get its full speed. Now that both devices have been upgraded I am all set. I have been using this cable modem now for about 3-4 months and no problems. Netgear has really been on top of networking and I could not recommend this cable modem enough. Especially if you are running or going to be running the new Orbi system.

So far this is working more reliably than my old Arris SB8200. I was having issues with the Arris modem almost daily. Mainly I think it was some communication issues between my ISP/modem/router/extender. I got fed up and decided to buy this netgear modem.
This netgear modem (Nighthawk 32x8 DOCSIS 3.1) has not randomly stopped talking to my router or decide to restart in the middle of daily activities. My Arris would constantly have these issues and more.
The Netgear LED’s are no where near as bright as the Arris’s (annoyingly bright blue LED). Which I prefer “blacked out” or low brightness because I don’t necessarily hide my tech.
The netgear modem stands tall but is reasonably slim I think. I do like the colors of this modem over others. Green LED lights, black casing with a matte grey brushed looking plate surrounding the lights.
My max internet speeds are hitting the router so it’s doing the job right. I haven’t yet gone Gig but I’m a plan below pretty consistently at 450Mbps down and 22Mbps up.
You will have to compliment the modem with a good router or mesh system. The reason I say this is because if you have a good modem but terrible routers you’re limiting your WiFi.
A good modem with a good WiFi setup will ensure you are getting what you pay for in terms of internet speeds.
Overall I would recommend this modem. I will be buying Netgear Modem’s in the future from now on.

Low Speeds and buffering? Do not cancel Spectrum, just return the crappy modem to them and purchase this Netgear Nighthawk Modem! Pair it with A Netgear Nighthawk Router and change your life! Get the speeds you actually pay for! We went from 40 mbps to 490 mbps. Stop paying rental fees, this modem is the best out there for cable modem customers! This CM1200 model doesn’t have voice but you can get the CM1150V

Great Cable Modem

After purchasing a different cable modem that was defective, I opted this route and am very pleased with its performance. Hook up was easy and connection was automatic with Comcast. With the savings from renting a modem, I not only upgraded my speed, but also added the Netgear AC1750 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router to the setup (will need some type of router for Wi-Fi connections, as this is just a cable modem). I would recommend this cable modem.

I have Comcast (Xfinity) and bought this to use instead of the default Xfinity Gateway (xFi). I was having issues with my xFi gateway not being able to port forward my media server correctly to the outside. When I returned the Gateway and got this Nighthawk Modem, I was astounded by the performance. I have the Xfinity 1 Gbps Speed with unlimited download. I was able to get Over 2 Gbps speed on the initial test!

Works well I had it for about 3 months almost and no issues with gaming I own a Xbox series x and s both which get a nat type open with the router I purchased from bestbuy also (ASUS ROG rapture gt-AX11000) gaming router . I will recommend it to anyone who owns a Xbox and that’s looking for a nat type open for them. Also gaming is smooth. I do a lot research before I buy so I know this was the perfect match for my small apartment.setup was a breeze u can use the app or a computer I prefer computer setup it’s more secure .speeds are more then my 1 gig from my provider.

I purchased this modem to replace the supplied modem from Spectrum. I’ve owned it for around 2 years and purchased it during the pandemic and Best Buy was the only company to have it in stock. In the past 2 years, I have never had a single issue out of it and has given me about 50mbps faster internet speed than the company issued modem. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to increase speed and reliability, especially for gaming. My latency has also improved drastically since switching to this modem. I pay for 400mbps and currently getting 458mbps. I love it!

I purchased this cable modem to replace my xfinity rental modem to help lower my overall bill from xfinity.
It will take a little over a year but after that I’m pure profit.
I also purchased a two year extended warranty in the case of breakdown being I’m taking on that liability vs xfinity on the rental.
Installation was 10 minutes and very straight forward.
I did need to contact xfinity to take my old modem off their support, I also needed to add the Netgear to their support to activate it, that all took about a half hour.
As well I had to return the xfinity modem to their local store.

I wanted to upgrade my modem so that I could remove the one provided by my Internet service provider and increase my network speeds with my router. This was a great choice and was fairly easy to setup! I haven't had any issues while gaming since the switch.

This is a multi gigabyte modem for link eggragation. A Bestbuy employee says you can hook up you Xbox and ps4 exe... into the modems extra ports to use wired method instead. The cavy is you can only use one port at a time wether it’s through one system or a router that’s it. Multiple devices won’t work. Link eggragation is the purpose of those extra ports on back of modem for combining 2 lines in a pc that’s supports link eggragation so you will get double your speeds. Also the product gets warm and will slow speeds down a small desk fan will fix this. So all this being said if your not linking your system for better speeds then get the cm 1000 modem and pair it with the nighthawk x6 for lots of devices and your wired devices will work well also they are gigabyte ports along with 2.4 and 5.2 ghz WiFi.

Really nice cable modem. I have the whole Netgear nighthawk router as well as the extender and our new home in Arizona does not have optical yet so I had to get a cable modem. I’m very happy with this as I am all the other Netgear products that I own. Very fond of the nighthawk 1900 series stuff

I have connected this modem to the Comcast system and then tied to an Orbi Router and this was amazingly simple and I have absolutely no problems with speed, connectivity or consistency
This is a great modem and will pay for itself in no time since I do not have to pay the monthly rental fees to Comcast

Purchased this modem because I upgraded my internet speed through Spectrum 400gbs. All I can say is wow, getting faster speeds than what I’m paying for. Roughly around 480gbs consistently. Buy it you won’t regret it. Netgear is buy far a superior company with outstanding customer service.

Modem still not working. Returned first I bought of this model that ended up being defective. I sprnd over 2 hours on phone with both our cable provdee and the modem manufacturer. Brst Buy exchanged for another one. Real easy to exchsnge with receipt. Then spent over 2 more hours on phone trying to get the replacement to work. This time xable modem worked but it would not work with out router. As long as you plugged directly into modem, you got great hard wired speed. Could not get it to work with wifi at all. I spend over 240 minutes trying to get this to work, over two weekends and an additional trip to Best Buy to replace it. We finally gave up. I was out of town the last couple weekends and when i tried to return it, with receipt. In original box, packed as new, even still had the box wrapper. Best Buy would not return or even give me a store credit for it. Now I am stick with an expensive paper weight . I will look at using amazon or new egg to get another modem. Best Buy should have at least issued a store credit. They were aware of the isdues that I was having trying to get it to work.

I must say, this modem has changed the game for me and definitely my in home speed. I live in a brownstone and the many walls in my crib is not conducive to efficient wifi travel. This modem has not only changed the game, it allows me to run several wifi unable devices in my apartment with no problem. I do happy I bit the bullet and invested in an upgrade.
