Ditch the Xfinity gateway for speed, reliability

I only wish that I had made the switch sooner, for the first time I am actually getting what I paid for in regards to my Internet speed, to tell you the truth it seems to be a little bit faster. I haven't needed to reset or reboot my modem yet since I changed over from the Xfinity gateway. I am a paralyzed veteran so my whole house is smart and I really rely on technology, previously I was resetting xfinitys Gateway three times a day just to get my plan speed or so that it would actually work. Now I am no longer paying Xfinity rent for a piece of junk that doesn't work. The speed from this modem and my wireless router together absolutely crush what I was getting before. I have had zero issues I totally recommend making the switch, you have to remember if you have a voice plan you need to get a modem with voice or you will lose your deal even if you do not use the phone. This is the obvious choice.

Super fast, quiet, stays relatively cool, very efficient. No wifi capabilities, however that provides the perfect reason to combine with the NETGEAR Nighthawk AX1800 Router Mesh wifi system. I am averaging 400+ mbps down and 40+ up. No drops, no glitches so far. I love the reliability of the combination.

I purchased this to finally say goodbye to Xfinity’s XB6 and the $13.00 a month lease fee. This modem pairs very nicely with the Orbi 6 system. It has been stable and speeds are what they are supposed to be. Speed from my Orbi are fast! See my attached photo. Speed at my old computer I averages about 934 down and 40 up, so no complaints. VoIP works fine as well. Highly recommended if your on Xfinity and using your own Wi-Fi router.

Very easy to set up, and now I don’t have to pay the $15 per month modem rental fee from Xfinity. Note that you will have to download the Xfinity App on your phone or call tech support at Xfinity to get the modem online. I chose to use the App, and it was a smooth and simple process. The modem is more than capable to handle Xfinity’s high speeds and voice service that I subscribe too. I’m very happy with this cable modem and it performs flawlessly.

This device one of a few capable of delivering Xfinity high speed internet. This one requires a separate router for home Wi-Fi but the additional cost is worth it for the speed. FYI Check your Xfinity package. Most cable modems are not capable of the current day delivery speeds they sell you. Find out what you have and update your equipment. Bought the ASUS AX5400 as my router. Powerful combination.

Bought this even though I had the earlier version(CM1150V) and was able to link 2 ports to supposedly get full 1.2G downloads with the linked ports. Well, before with the linked ports, I was averaging 1100 Mbps. Now, I'm consistently testing at 1400 Mbps. Tests are run on my router and not through Xfinity's site. So, pretty sure they aren't fudging me there.

The router broke on us after less that two months of use. When Netgear replaced it, the replacement looked like it was refurbished because the parts on the router looked different from the original one. I told Netgear about this but they assured the replacement router is brand new. After 6 months after using the replacement it starts to go out on us and 3 of the lights on the router now have went out completely!

Yes the title says excellent and it is. Very few issues setting it up. Switching from one modem to this one. It wouldn’t connect at first. About 10-15 minutes later and I was up and running. Noticeably more stabil. Would recommend.

The modem works well and gets high speeds, but it's no better than the CM 1150V that replaced it. I see no actual speed difference with it, though Xfinity sent me an e-mail saying that I wasn't getting the full speeds that my account allows. This modem was over a hundred dollars more than the 1150V, so not really worth it unless you're coming from something slower. Pictures attached show the 1150V slightly faster than the 2050V. Also, setup took over an hour with a tech via chat, the "easy self setup" did not work for me, it didn't work for the old modem either. Make sure to test the phone line after setting up, too, the tech got the internet part working but it took longer to get the phone line working. And getting through to a person at Xfinity on the phone is a trick I haven't mastered yet.

Advertising says compatibility with Xfinity, but shortly after installing I had internet outages and received an email from Xfinity that Netgear was having software compatibility issues with Comcast. This is misleading and false advertising.

Bought this instead of having to pay for eternity the Xfinity cable internet and voice modem. Installation was a little tricky with xfinity support but once everything was registered, this CM2050V was providing gigabit internet speeds and voice perfectly. This was paired with a Netgear R7000 router that simply needed to be factory reset in order to properly synchronize to the CM2050V to get the gigabit speed that this cable modem was provisioned for. Now no more lag and latency issues while online with this awesome unit.

I bought this NETGEAR Nighthawk 2.5Gbps Internet Speed Cable Modem with Voice (CM2050V) in conjunction with the NETGEAR Nighthawk AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Router (RAX50). The CM2050V does not have an internal router/Wi-Fi function, which is what I desired. In the future, I did not want to be forced to upgrade both modem and Wi-Fi/router functions when one or other became outdated or defective. In the process of installing the modem and router, I installed a NETGEAR 24 Port Gigabit Switch (JGS524v2). I retraced and tested all my Cat6E wired ports throughout the house. I plugged in my patch cables, and I was off and running. Except for a few older pieces of hardware running at 10/100, 96% of the LAN was running at 1 Gig speed. First thing, I logged into the modem and router, seamlessly, and with ease, changed the login passwords, and tweaked a few settings. Most of the factory settings were spot on for Xfinity ISP service. For my outside, wrap-around porch area, I added a NETGEAR Insight Managed WiFi 6 AX3600 Dual Band Multi-Gig Access Point (WAX620). The access point integrated flawlessly as well. I now have incredible LAN speeds both inside and outside. I am recently retired and not an IT professional. If you can read and follow the directions, you can install these products without a problem.

Previously I owned a Netgear CM1150. Comcast kept on saying the modem could not handle the speed I purchased. I have SuperFast which is 800 downstream. I planned on waiting for Docsis 4.0 to come out later this year but could be delayed in my area. Turns out the downstream between docsis 3.1 and 4.0 are the same. 4.0 offers better latency and symmetrical downstream / upstream speeds. Who knows the cost. I figure it might be another three or four years before I decide Docsis 4.0 is a must. The install was much easier than before which at the time took a few hours on the phone with Comcast. This time I was able to do it on my own. Provisioning on the pc was a fail. Using the xfinity app I was able to get it provisioned. The speeds have improved and I am finding the modem to be reliable. My phone conks out for a minute on occasion. This happened with the previous modem. It is likely a Comcast issue and not a modem issue. The cost differential between a modem with/without telephone is now much closer. The previous modem with telephone was ridiculously expensive. Eventually I may drop the landline but it was an easier purchase to make this time around. I have a Netgear Orbi router connected to the modem for the router / Wi-Fi. It all works great.

Gigabit speeds and voice. That is why I purchased this device and it has NOT been a disappointment. My connectivity and speeds surpassed the rental modem/router combo that my ISP provided. No more monthly fees and I am free to surf without jitters, freezing, crashes, etc. The app and online support from NETGEAR are industry standards for both Home and Home Office needs. I highly recommend considering this device as part of your high-speed internet with voice network hardware.

I upgraded to this CM2050V from a very old Arris telephony model and I have been pleased with this modem’s performance. I also like the sleek design and vertical orientation of the modem. Setup was a bit problematic since the modem would not lock a downstream channel, and the tech support agent from Netgear was essentially useless, but I eventually isolated the issue to my UPS coaxial connections (not sure why it was interfering with things because it worked fine with my Arris modem) but I simply connected the modem directly to my cable wall outlet and it locked a downstream channel just fine and my internet speed stabilized. The aforementioned Netgear tech support agent told me it was normal to not lock a downstream channel and the LED blinking for the downstream channel was normal too (the agent completely contradicted the user manual and followed an obviously scripted troubleshooting procedure delivered with no independent though). Overall I think this was a sound upgrade.
