Wow, this works well. Is this what its like to have a working wireless network...?
Ok, so its time to start upgrading equipment. I've been using a Linksys 1000 wireless router for years. Never thought anything about it. Drop out here and there but thats normal, right? No. After about 30 minutes I had the Netgear Nighthawk up and running. I play a lot of video games and watch a lot of NETFLIX plus run cell phones and other computers and tablets all at the same time. Were talking 3 smart tv's, 4 phones, 1 xbox one, 1 360, 2 ps4's, 2 smart dvd players with apps, and 4 or 5 DS XL's / 3D DS XL's. With multiple things on and streaming Netflix and running YouTube videos I ran a speed test on my xbox one. This used to take a minute or so. Now its done almost as soon as I let the button go. I can't believe what I,ve been missing.
I wish I could tell everyone to use this.

This was very easy to setup..It covers my whole house with a very strong signal. I was able to remove my range extender. With the net gear genie I can monitor or change the setting and look at what devices are attached. Everything was up and running in 30 minutes. No problems.

First this thing has a presence. It is large by any standard. The Nighthawk's appearance is subdued and not flashy. The indicator lighting is a tad bright, so having the router in your general field of view will be distracting. Another plus is that you can wall mount this unit.
The Nighthawks performance is divine. It handles heavy traffic loads flawlessly. We use a mix of devices. There is a Wii U, dual XBOX ONES, three PCs/Laptops, four Android based phones, dual Rokus , a PS VITA, one 2DS, a small NAS and one network printer. The range on this thing is very good. Slightly above average. But the really nice thing is the Nighthawks ability to keep the signals strong and constant. Though multiple concrete walls you will get a nice signal. Even weak signals stay connected and perform well.
The router was tested with video streaming from a local NAS to all devices and the Nighthawk never flinched. I have the Nas hooked to the Usb 3.0 port on the Nighthawk. Works like a charm. The included software for this application is really nice, though requires a download.
The included software is nice for beginners. It allows easy control over devices for internet access. Great for blocking the kids devices until school work is completed.
The price is high in comparison to other routers out there. But the performance definitely matches the price. Well worth the investment if you can stretch the budget.
Over I am extremely happy with this router. I have always used NETGEAR and am always please with their products.

We had been renting a combo wireless router and modem from our local internet provider. We upgraded to a flat screen Roku TV and our rental router/modem didn't cut it anymore. It was so slow that our Roku TV didn't even work. So we bit the bullet and upgraded. I'm SO glad that we did! This big box works great for our 3500 sq foot, 2-story home. We have a WiiU, Roku tv, laptops and two smart phones often running. We have boys that, probably sooner rather than later, will get into online gaming and cruising the Internet. We wanted a router that could handle the amount of data we would be streaming with speed and efficiency. So far this router has been working without a hiccup! Easy to setup too. Only complaint one might have is this bad boy is rather large. We have it and our modem setting on a high shelf next to a fake plant in our kitchen. Works great and it's out of the way. The modem also has a low blue light that is a nice nightlight :)

So far I've had nothing but great performance from this unit. Setup was easy and I was up in running within 15 to 20 minutes. There are some crazy configurations you can do and it can get pretty granular, but if you just go with the basics and do some mild tweaking you'll be off and running. This router is far superior to the cable wireless box. I bought this box for better home coverage, and the fact that my cable company would not give me the password to go in and set things the way I wanted, the other neat fact is that if you have this router it will ask you if you have access to turn off the cable wi-fi, you have the option to say yes or no during configuration, if you select no it will automatically set channels for itself. Great router, great price and I've had no issues with coverage or dropping or buffering with streaming.

I have had various routers over the years and always leaned towards Linksys. However over the last few years, I have had nothing but problems with them. I needed a router that would give me great coverage in a 2000 sq ft home. It always seemed like I had dead spots no matter how I positioned the routers. I connect 4 cell phones, Directv, Xbox, Netflix and my printer. With all the other previous routers, besides the dead spots I had to constantly restart my routers. With this router, I have no dead spots and the coverage is outstanding! I do not have any lag and have not had to restart this. The setup was extremely easy. The software is very user friendly and is very helpful. My only regret is that I didn't buy this sooner. It is a more expensive, but well worth it. If you need a good router with excellent coverage and fast speeds, this would be the one.

Easy to set up.
Significantly boosted my internet speed.
People complain about it being big, I don't have a problem with it.
I don't need to move it or touch it after I set it up.
Reasonably priced.
No complaints.

I needed a new router to replace an older D-Link model that was having trouble supporting all the new household demands on it (Roku for Netflix, 2 laptops, one desktop, 3 smartphones, a shared laser printer and a Fitbit bathroom scale). I researched the reviews and selected the NETGEAR AC1900. No regrets. Setup went reasonably smooth. It comes with a preset SSID and Password to simplify setup, or you can create your own (I kept the password but modified the SSID). Of course you then have to reconnect with each of your devices using the new name and password, but when that was completed it worked fine. It has worked flawlessly since.

Before I bought the Netgear Nighthawk, I had been using a Linksys product for about 10 years. That product worked fine, but was definitely at the end of its life. My family's computers would get knocked off the network on an intermittent basis and I finally threw in the towel when it got to the point of having to reboot the router several times a week to regain service. Too bad it took me so long to switch to the Nighthawk - wow, after the switch it was like night and day! I haven't rebooted once in the two months since I installed the Nighthawk, the service is fast, and the signal is strong throughout my house. Set-up was super easy and the quality is first-rate. If this is indicative of Netgear products, then I am sold on the company. Great product that I can wholeheartedly recommend!

I live in a 2200 sq. ft. home and I needed a router that would provide good WiFi signal coverage all throughout. The solution is this Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 R7000 router.
DESIGN:
I really love the design of the router's exterior with the angled surfaces and antennas. It gives it an appearance of a stealth fighter which is really cool and sets it apart from most routers which have a plain looking outside. I like the included USB 3.0 port for speedier storage although I wish it were located on the rear of the unit rather than front; small issue for me.
PERFORMANCE:
I have a 200 mbps download and 35 mbps upload package with Optimum. My desktops, tablets and iPhone on the far ends of the second floor get about 180-200 mbps download and about 35 upload with this Netgear router. The range is really great and I have tried other router brands where extenders would be needed to get optimal speeds. Streaming Netflix, Amazon HD videos is fast and instantaneous to load.
MANAGEMENT:
Administering the router's settings is straightforward enough for intermediate users. The Netgear app is nice to use but limits the advanced settings tweaking by a lot so web based configuring is still preferred. I am using the DD-WRT firmware for this router and it works great with software updates every month.
CONCLUSION:
This is the best wireless router I have ever used. It is worth every penny I paid for it and it has provided me with great service the past few years. The range is incredible considering the walls and flooring the signals have to penetrate in my house. Connections are extremely stable with reconnects being very rare and speeds are about optimal. Solid value. I cannot recommend this enough.
PROS:
+Outstanding Range
+Very Fast Speeds
+Extremely Stable Connections
+Sleek looking design that stands out
CONS:
-Netgear Firmware laggy
-Netgear Mobile App has very limited settings

I'm a home theater technician/installer. Our customers depend on a good network connection for most of their sources now. After reading reviews we went with this router for a couple of our clients and I was so impressed I put one in my own home. It replaced an older less expensive Netgear that treated me well. My wi-fi range is obviously better now but the big thing for me is the speed increase when I have multiple things going on with the network at the same time such as streaming video while I'm copying a big file from one computer to another on the network and at the same time controlling my home theater with my iPad network control system. I'm very happy with this router and would highly recommend it to others.

This router has excellent range and my speed has improved. I used to get spotty range on the 5g channel with my older Netgear router but this one has a strong signal with 5g where I didn't get one before. When I first installed this Nighthawk, I did the setup and there was an update that I installed. After setting it up, it worked great when it was working but it kept going offline constantly and I would have to keep unplugging it to get it to work. By the second day I was so frustrated and dreading that I would have to return it but as a last resort I did a hard reset(use a pin and press in the tiny hole in back) and haven't had a problem since. I would suggest you do a hard reset after any update.

Very pleased with the purchase of this router. Very easy to install. The range is excellent - no more dead spots and don't need a range extender. We get a great signal on all 3 floors of our house. Handles a large number of devices (4 iPhones, 2 Rokus, Apple TV, Amazon Echo, DirecTV wireless, PlayStation4, 2 Kindle Fires, iPad, 4 laptops, and a desktop). Would highly recommend!

Bought to support multiple Xbox Ones

I am an IT specialist with 12 years of experience in troubleshooting network issues. After quite a bit of research I decided to buy the Netgear Nighthawk for my roommates and I. There are three of us in the house and we all have our own Xbox Ones. We needed a reliable router with the capability of running all three of our Xbox Ones with an Open NAT while being able to handle our network traffic. All three of us also stream to twitch.tv so we definitely needed a high router to keep up with everything going on. We currently have a Comcast plan with 50mbs down and 10mbs up. On our speed tests we are actually receiving 100mbs down, and 10mbs up. This is probably due to the fact that the area is not densely populated, but we did not receive these speeds on our last router.
Set up is easy and the Netgear app is useful as well. I think my only complaint is that the antennae tend to lean over time.
As for connecting multiple Xboxes to the router, there is no extra configuration necessary. We do seem to run into an issue every now and then when all three Xboxes are using a wired connection. I let my roommates play on the wired connection and just use the wireless. All of our Xboxes are in the same room as the router and I don't really notice any issues with lag running on the wireless.
Our peak usage includes:
- 3 Xbox Ones (2 wired, one wireless) 2 of which use the twitch app on the Xbox to Stream
- 2 Laptops on wireless viewing the twitch streams, one of the laptops is also used to stream to twitch with an Elgato Capture Card
- 1 desktop using wired connection that is being used to view the streams
- all 3 of our cell phones which are connected through the wireless
- we also do a little bit of web surfing while streaming too
The Netgear Nighthawk handles all of it without missing a beat. Occasionally we reset the router and modem to refresh the network but generally I wouldn't say its really necessary.
The Wireless coverage is also very good and covers our house, but it's not a very big place so I wasn't worried about that as much.
If you're looking for a higher end router or a good solution for running multiple Xboxes on your network I highly recommend buying this router.

I was having a horrible time staying connected to my WiFi in my home. I then bought an extender I had to plug in. Still had trouble. Did some reviewing and decided on this model and glad I did. Not only is the signal excellent, but the speeds are also fast and work on all phones and smart tv's. I do not even need the range extender anymore. I am also a pc gamer and have no problems at all with my wired connection. Definitely a wise purchase.

Bought my first R7000 a year ago and have since added a second to my business. The router comes easy to setup right out of the box and includes a nice GUI that is simple for even the basic user to configure. I've re-flashed both of mine with DD-WRT firmware and am running OpenVPN between my two offices. The connection is stable, fast, and exactly why I bought this router. If you're looking for a router that can do just about everything, broadcasts a strong dual band signal, and is easy to setup and maintain, go get yourself a R7000, you won't be sorry.

I bought this router b/c I needed to extend the coverage area of my modem / router that was provided by my ISP. This is a great router and well worth the money. It provides extensive coverage and can handle multiple people / devices at once. Since buying this router I have moved and now have it hooked up to a Motorola cable modem - I have Comcast and instead of paying them a $10 monthly rental fee for their modem/router it made more sense to just buy a modem and hook this router up to it for my wifi. I have a 2 story house with a basement and there are no dead spots and I get great coverage with this router. My daughter will be watching Netflix on an iPad upstairs, my wife will be on the internet in the kitchen, and I will be using the wifi signal for something in the basement and it keeps up with everything. I have a pretty good sized yard (about a 1/2 acre lot) and I can get a wifi signal anywhere in the yard, which is nice b/c I like to listen to Pandora while mowing.
I'm not a very good computer / network guy, but setting this up was simple and easy. I also like the Netgear Genie app that allows you to monitor various diagnostics and information about your router from you smartphone or computer. Overall, great router to buy if you need extensive coverage and/or have lots of devices.

Upgrade from Xfinity Equipment

Bought this along with Netgear Model:CM1000-100NAS cable modem for my Xfinity 400 mbps service and to solve some connection problems I was having with their current equipment, mainly the XB6 modem/router. Installation was easy and comcast activated the equipment on their end.
I setup separate 2.4 and 5g connections so I could set up a sleep number bed I was having connection issues with using Xfinity's equipment. Ran speed tests after setup and only had about 120 mbps download on 5g whereas I was about 280 mbps using Xfinity's XB6. Changed the channel in the router settings and instant improvement to around 390 mbps on 5g and 98 mbps on 2.4g. Both were good improvements from previous equipment. Highly satisfied so far and also resolved sleep number bed connection issues as well as an issue with a new Neato vacuum. Love the app for setting what's connected to both channels.

I was apprehensive about spending this much on a router. But my previous router was cheaper and I wanted something that would be better overall.
I have to say, the Nighthawk is blowing me away so far. During the first month I've had it, I haven't had to reboot it. Setup was a breeze for most of my devices and visiting friends (Win7 laptop, iPhone, various tablets, gaming consoles). The only device that didn't want to connect was a Macbook...it saw the SID, but it wouldn't prompt for a password. I don't blame the router for that issue.

This router was pretty easy to install. A little confusing on the setup with the passwords. Could use a little more instructions on that to make sure you're changing the right one. Finally had to just put everything at the same one. Signal strength is good so far. Smart TV in farthest bedroom still having trouble getting WiFi when gaming computer being used. We have many devices hooked up and it is doing the job fairly well but still may have to get an extender or move it to the gaming computer. If we didn't have the gaming computer, it would work great.
