Good router but still has some challenges

The challenges Well only one really, is going on Prime or Netflix and it will say no internet connection available? This is the main reason i purchased this as it has mu-memo for dedicated device technology . Well so far it has only happened once on Prime then i went to Netflix and it worked then back to Prime and it was working again I was happy to see quick fixed results . As previously I was switching 1 of the smart tv's to 2.4 ghz and 1 laptop in living room to try to get some type of speed . This has almost completely eliminated that . Oh and the lights on this are like a disco ball and strobe light in my room even all mounted behind a 55" TV and on a floating shelf for the previous router as it was much smaller more vertical than a big square , But I see people complain about a tiny light on QI chargers for their cell phones (this would not be for you if your router is in your bedroom lol ) basically this is a flashing night light !!! I just hope they dont burn out as I was always use to just a single stationary light no flashing every 3 seconds .. Hook is nice ho hard wire needed just download the phone app and away you go . . Very strait forward and simple if you follow the instructions . I came from a 1900 series this is a 2600 series both AC and good quality , This is like a strobe light in my bed room the lights are always flashing I was so use to just a solid blue or white single light , well this Flashes 4 out of 5 on the left side every 3 seconds all the time , on the right you have 4 that just remain on all the time . The 5 in the middle are off ( I am guessing this is if you hard wire something since they are numbered they would also come on and stay on . As far as distance I dont notice a difference, but with the mu mimo it does seem to connect to my LG oled tv's better and keep up speeds even in low range areas (mind you this is only a 1000 sq ft apartment and even a cheap router should have no problem But with all the traffic from neighbors NOT being on my network it interferes ) Even with this router but not nearly as much so far anyway . I have only had it about 1 week and I love the phone app saying where my "dead spots were in living room and kitchen are now getting 300-400 mbps This would be like having Geek squad come out to find the dead spots and set up a mesh system and charge you 150$ for their time well this is free ! I only know this because the app has System analytics which allows you to walk anywhere in your home and test the speeds (they are labeled bedroom 1 and 2 living room kitchen office etc. So just go into the room and hit test and then you can swipe right and find out which frequency your on as well (removing interference) .

This router was easy to set up. All parts and accessories were included. When I had an issue with ethernet I called tech support and the expert helped. Found out there is free tech support for a year. You can also go to online support. I would recommend this product.

Great router. Was an upgrade from one that I had for a long time. Set up is easy. Only requires a phone and the Nighthawk app. Once you make a Netgear account you can begin to set it up. Everything was straight forward. Only hiccup was when it would try to recognize the router make sure that WIFI on your phone is turned on and your phone should be able to find its signal. Both at the beginning of the process with its temporary router name and password and again once you set up your own router name and password. Overall all my devices are connected. No more getting disconnected constantly. 2.4 GHz can send the signal farther and go through walls better, but may be slower/or downloading less at the same time. 5GHz has a smaller radius for signal and may not go through walls if they are too thick or far away. However, speeds may be faster and can handle heavier download load. So pick which one will be better for you. One will be YOUR_NETWORK_NAME and the other will be YOUR_NETWORK_NAME-5G

Easy to setup, app is good, price is reasonable. Not a gamer so not sure if this would be good for that, but for everyday use it very good for under $100.

Bought this for use in a 1200 sq ft apartment and never had any signal issues. Initial setup takes a few minutes but isn't anything too inconvenient. I know there are faster and more powerful models out there but I didn't need them at the time. I had no problems streaming using this router. I am a fan of the software that comes with this. The router provided by our internet company doubles as the wifi router and only puts out the two network options. This router allows for a guest network as well.

Upgraded from an older Netgear. Make sure you install the Nighthawk app on your smartphone BEFORE you disconnect your old router and install this one. First thing it did was update the firmware. After installing itself, I checked to make sure everything worked and had internet, I changed the default password and started using it. Much better performance and range than my old a/b/c/g router. My phone stopped dropping WiFi and I now play with no more warnings. Highly recommended.

bought this to replace the Netgear N300 that was 8-9 years old. The setup of the Nighthawk R7400 was easy and once it was configured with the existing network id and password all the devices connected to the new network without issue. The goal is to have more coverage and faster performance around the house for a planned increase in streaming. Still need to confirm i'm getting the intended results. The black Friday price helped in the decision to buy this.

I have Netgear branded equipment over the years and have been happy with their performance. I purchased this unit for my mother-in-law as a replacement for her (other branded) glitchy router. It works great in her 2000 square foot home. I set up as much WiFi equipment (capable) on the 5Ghz band as possible and the rest on the 2.4Ghz band. So far so good with connection and speed. I think it was on sale so the purchase price was a good deal.

It took about an hour to drive to the store. Get the reccomndation of the Best Buy Associate, pay for the router, drive home and set it up. The only thing faster than setting it up is the router itself. With 3 kids who stream all the time (yes, even in the shower) this has been a pleasure. Great range, no need to reset it every day like the route it replaced. it was priced really well too, it was on sale.

I bought this to replace my older tp-link ac1200 router. My download speed is the same, but it connects much quicker. I don't seem to get anymore buffering like I used to. Setup was very easy with the app. My signal strength outside the house is much stronger and the distance is about double what it was with the tp-link router(5gz AC).

I bought this router as in upgrade for our old TP Link AC1750 router. Speeds were 3-4 times faster. Very easy to set up and use. Also has the nighthawk app to monitor connected devices, passwords, available networks, speed tests, and monitor usage. Has very good range for large homes.

Added this router to my home network to reach some dead areas and found that it extended even outside my home into the backyard which was a pleasant surprise. The speed is excellent and setting up the router through the app was very easy.

I was getting 1/10th of the wifi speed my plan was offering. With this router, the speed I get is more than 300 mbps. Range is very wide, easy to set up. It can provide speeds up to 1000 mbps.

I had a TP Link router that had gotten older and decided to upgrade to this model. The signal is significantly improved making a strong connection even in the furthest rooms. The speed of our internet also improved as it seems to handle multiple devices well. Speeds regularly were around 80Mbps on each of our devices now show around 100 to 112 and we’ve made no changes to our internet plan. For the price it has been great. Wife set up the router and said she had no problems setting it and the app (for her phone) up. Highly recommend.

we needed to upgrade our router to get the full speeds promised by Charter/Spectrum. This one was on sale and seemed to be powerful enough to suit our needs, mostly regular TV streaming & home wifi use (we're not gamers so don't need for that). Set up went OK and hubby got everything reconnected in a day or two. My main complaint is it's huge & bulky & has to sit just as pictured! Our older/smaller router could be placed vertically, which saves a lot of space. This one is big and ugly and takes up too much space. For now, it literally sits on top of the seldom-used printer, since we have NO shelving nearby upon which to store it. Yuck.

While there was nothing wrong with our older netgear router, it only topped out at 54 mbs so it was time to upgrade. We didn't really NEED an upgraded router since we're old and don't do a lot of streaming, and never at the same time, but the price was too good to pass up AND the router speed is much better for our Spectrum internet and home wifi. Installation was very easy and I had everything up and running within five minutes. Since we use Spectrum for cable TV, internet and phone service, this was a very good choice for us. Now I'm wondering why I waited to long to upgrade our router.
