We have a 3000 sq ft house and this Nighthawk router does an excellent job of reaching every room with enough bandwidth to handle streaming without any lagging. This router gets average speed up 470-527 mbps. Setup couldn’t have been any easier. I personally set it up the manual way by logging into the router from my computer and was able to configure everything there. I also downloaded the Netgear Nighthawk app and followed the on screen instructions. We were given the option to name the new router the same as the old and use the same password so that nothing would have to be reprogrammed with new passwords. The app made set up easy and we were up and running that night. I can also run speed tests and wifi analytics, monitor UL/DL traffic, and engage parental controls from within the app. We can connect 5 cellphones, 3 laptops, Xbox-One S, Playstation 5 and even wifi connected security camera with no drops on the wifi network. It has an average set of features like USB port, 5- 1-gig Ethernet ports and basic networking/security feature. I highly recommend the Netgear Nighthawk AX5200 to anyone who needs more signal, a neat app that allows you to control the multiple capabilities of the router at ease.

Excellent Router for the Smart Home

I have had the Netgear RAX48 WiFi 6 router for about a month. I replaced a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 that was more than six years old. The R7000 was still working but the RAX48 offered additional features as well as WiFi6.
Coverage is great in my 1900 sq ft single family house. I have quite a number of smart home devices, wireless speakers, smartphones, tablets, printer, laptop and XBox One. Most are wireless but the smart home hubs and XBox are wired.
Configuration was fairly easy. I used the smartphone app for the basic configuration and then connected via my laptop and browser to fine tune a few settings. Follow the instructions to check for a firmware update. Home routers are being targeted by hackers and firmware updates are a common means to address security vulnerabilities. Most default configuration settings are fine. I do recommend that you use a strong password and disable remote administration if you never plan to use it. Don’t mess with settings that you don’t understand. At minimum, google it or check the Netgear user forums.
If you are replacing a router, make note of your old SSID (network names) and use those same names (must be exact) and passphrase in the new router. This will simplify the setup especially for the smart home devices.
I have not used the USB port to connect a storage device but it worked well when I used it in my old Netgear Nighthawk.
I am pleased with this router for my use case. If you have a large or multi-level home and need additional coverage, then a mesh WiFi system may provide better coverage (Netgear calls theirs “Orbi”).

Finally gave in and bought this router because it was half off on sale. I do not regret the decision at al. Set up was super quick (just keep existing work name the same) and speeds have been great. I pay for 200 mbps and getting a little more consistently. All dead or weak spots in the house now have full coverage. Def recommend getting if you can get at a fair price.

My 7 year old router died and the D-link AC1900 router I replaced it with would disconnect multiple times per week. Has this one for 7 days and it has been 100% reliable with 5ghz working farther from my router then my previous routers 2.4ghz bands. Wifi 6 is for real. Google home works so much better then before. The the latency is very low with this router. Would recommend with the results I am seeing so far. Wait for a sale tho. I paid $150.

I bought this item despite the low-star review of other customers. I've been waiting for a down-time in 2 weeks and been stressing it out, no restarts and all. It gives me 300 with my 200Mbps service from Verizon Fios.
Bought it on sale. Easy to set-up. It didn't give me any problems.

Nighthawk AX5200 - RAX48 - Working Like A Champ

I've read a bunch of reviews . . . both good and bad . . . and here's mine. I've purchased this Nightgear Router on sale at 50% off in December 2020. As of today, the router is working like a champ for me. I subscribed to AT&T 1 Gigabit plan since the pandemic to deal with my wife and I working from home and my kids are online schooling as well. I have numerous video meetings daily and chair some of the meetings weekly so I need a reliable internet line. Setting up my printer to wirelessly print through this router is a breeze. As of today, the router is still running really solid and stable. Keep in mind that you only need about 40Mbps to stream 4K videos from my understanding . . . in my case, I'm getting 557.61 Mbps download and 523.78 Mbps upload speed through the Netgear's Nighthawk app today Jan 9th. I'm taking advantage of Wifi 6. See attached screenshot. Good Luck and highly recommend if you can get it on sale @ Best Buy.

I used this to replace my old router that would not support our new plan. We are now getting over what our plan says we should! All of our connectivity issues are gone. The whole time I thought we were having issues with our provider and it was the old router the whole time. Best of all it was half off when I purchased it. Thanks to the awesome sales person for pointing that out to me. I located the router in the basement and it reaches everywhere for n my house. I also hardwired our kids PlayStation, our home security system, and our satellite receivers into it.

Got a great deal @ $149 Now onto my thoughts on the router. So the setup is not that easy, but have no fear NetGear tech support is included. Be sure and take advantage of there help. So I have the “ extreme blast” package thru comcast @ 600mbps. But my old modem @ best got 250mbps speed. Good but well below what I pay for. So I read reviews & decided to try this modem out, glad I did. So now my average speed is 450- 526 mbps which is much closer to what my package puts out, plus I am using the NetGear CM1000 modem thus building a bridge for same type Manufacture components to integrate smoother between each other! Also to protect your modem and home network. The security program “ Armor” Software is highly recommended, it protects all devices that are on your WiFi. Plus this software is made by Bitdefender, a highly rated security software company! See picture of one of my speed test to show my results. All functions can be ran thru the Nighthawk app, a must have to easily make changes as needed!

Great replacement for Fios device. Why pay for a monthly fee for a device. Make the one time purchase follow the instructions and you're done. The coverage is awesome wireless, mine is in the basement/mancave but throughout the entire house I have coverage. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

I got a good deal on this right after my previous Wi-Fi radio had died on my previous router. I’m so much happier with the coverage and speed. Strongly recommend this guy. Setting up requires downloading an app but the instructions are nice and easy to follow and the security is pretty cool so far.

This Router is AMAZING! I have a Tri-level home and every nook and Cranny is covered. The speed of this router is Fantastic... far better than the one given to me by Century Link. My speed is consistently in the 800-900 Mbps range.

Works well. Right out of the box, was able to get 4k streaming finally on my smart tv. Just plug it right into Fios! The 5g seemed to be a little unstable and had to use support tech at Netgear to troubleshoot settings. In the end, learned my Fios is not what I thought it was. But with this router comes tech support, antivirus and security protection for multiple devices. I enjoy the speed it allows me to access (as long as your ISP is providing you with multigig or at least a gig). I live in a long 3 bedroom with a lot of stuff, so had to get a range extender, which allowed reception in farthest rooms. For the price I got this for ($150) couldn’t beat it, but I wouldn’t have bought it full price, since I don’t have a fast enough internet provider and the range is not enough without purchasing an extender. Customer support and antivirus are however the best I’ve experienced, through Netgear. Also bought some cat8 ethernet cables to maximize speed.

Since installing the my new Netgear router and modem (separate devices), I’ve noticed significantly faster wifi speeds throughout my home and some more range as well. Definitely beats the equipment provided by comcast and I save myself 10 dollars on equip. rental fees every month, so it’s a win-win situation.

Happy with this purchase. Speed have been above what my IP offers. I have had no issues. My wife is super pleased as well. She does 30% of her work at home and requires high speed Wi-Fi. I game a lot and my PS5 doesn’t skip a beat. Only thing left to do is a little cable managing.

I bought this Router as a deal on Best Buy’s Black Friday Sale to replace a secondhand AC1900 Nighthawk I’ve had about 8 months. The AC1900 would randomly drop WiFi entirely. I’m paying for 200mb/sec and I was lucky to get 75. With this new AX5200, I’m actually getting 227mb/sec. Couldn’t be happier to have upgraded to this WiFi6 router.
