Have been using netgear routers for many years. Swapping from an older AX5200 to this BE6500 we went from 900mbps down/ 60mbps up to 2300+ mbps down/70+ mbps up!! Wish i would have bought sooner! Was $229 at time of purchase which is phenomenal for the preforamce and functionality. The nighthawk app is easy to use and free. Just cant beat netgear routers!

I've been using this router for a while now, and I'm really happy with it. It's super easy to set up, even for someone like me who's not a tech expert. My wifi coverage is so much better than it was with my old router. Plus, the speed is amazing – I can stream movies and play games without any lag. It's also really reliable; I haven't had any connection issues since I switched. Honestly, for the price, you can't beat it. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good, solid router.

How I Spent Father’s Day: A Love Letter to Custome

12/28/2024 – I bought a shiny new Netgear router. Sleek, fast, expensive—basically the Ferrari of home networking. I had high hopes.
6/15/2025 – Father’s Day. You know, the day you’re supposed to relax, maybe grill something, and feel appreciated. Instead? My Netgear router died like Louie (my childhood hampster)—suddenly and without explanation.
So, I called customer support followed instructions, hoping for a resurrected router.
• Unplug and try another outlet – Classic. A timeless first step.
• Hold the reset button for 3 minutes – Okay, sure. I mean, that’s a full TikTok recipe video, but fine.
• Press reset, wait 10 seconds, unplug, repeat 10 times – I’m sorry, is this networking or summoning a demon?
• Connect an Ethernet cable to a computer and… try to connect – At this point I’m basically in a ‘90s hacker movie.
After this hour-long dance, I was told: “Great news! Just pay us $30 for advanced shipping, and we’ll send you a new device—you return the old one later.” Fine. No internet for a day, I can handle that. Maybe even talk to my family.
6/16/2025 – Day 2 without internet.
An email arrives! But instead of shipping confirmation, it’s:
“Please send us proof of purchase and label info.”
Oh. Cool. Just a quick follow-up that could’ve been mentioned yesterday while I was doing acrobatics with the router cable. But okay. Easy-peasy—I emailed the info that night.
6/17/2025 – Day 3 without internet.
Anantha calls. Poor guy. He drew the short straw.
“Because you purchased a premium router…”
Wait, pause. Premium? You mean the one that quit after 5 months and 18 days?
“…you have to send it to us first before we send a replacement.”
So let me get this straight: I pay more for a higher-end device and I get the privilege of waiting two weeks without internet while you inspect it like it’s a rare artifact?
Also, didn’t I pay for next-day shipping?
I asked for a supervisor. Anantha put me on hold. And… that was the last I ever heard from him. Anantha, if you’re reading this—blink twice if you’re okay.
6/18/2025 – Day 4 without internet.
At this point, my household had started asking “Is the internet back?” the way kids ask “Are we there yet?” on a road trip.
I realized Netgear wasn’t coming to save me.
But someone did…
Eero.
I got a new router, plugged it in, and boom—internet back. The heavens opened. A choir sang.
⸻
In Full Disclosure:
I’ve used Netgear for years. Never had a problem. But this time? This experience was like trying to cancel cable in the early 2000s.
The router broke. I followed every step. I paid for express service. I gave receipts, serial numbers, maybe even a few drops of blood.
And still—nothing.
The disorganization and “we’ll tell you what you need after you’ve done everything else” approach broke me.
So, I moved on.
And you know what? I’m happy with my decision.
(Also, I hope Anantha escaped the customer service vortex.)

I am extremely pleased with my RS200! It arrived quickly and was easy to install and set up. My ISP provides 1Gbps and am registering 925 Mbps for downloads and 536 Mbps for uploads. I have a two story home and had no issues connecting all of my devices, including a home standby generator at the opposite end the house and on the basement level. I highly recommend the RS200 - excellent product and great price!

Very happy with this purchase. We were in need of replacing our outdated router. The nighthawk offers an extremely user friendly APP allowing to control the VPN and devices that attempt to connect your network. It also offers superior parental controls via user friendly UI that anyone could quickly learn. The latest WiFi 7 speed is outstanding too!!!

Netgear nighthawk BE-6500 router works pretty well, but sometimes disconnects from older models, TVs and appliances. Also upload speed fluctuates on a daily basis. Other than that it’s a pretty good router would’ve gave it a five star if it wasn’t for these things that I just mentioned.

Setting up this router was easy, the dedicated app walked me through all the steps. I was able to get it up and running in around 10 minutes. The range is impressive—I'm able to get a strong, reliable signal throughout my two-story home. In terms of performance, it’s more than capable of supporting multiple HD video streams simultaneously without any noticeable buffering or lag, making it ideal for households with heavy streaming or multiple connected devices.

In the shortest terms, I have no complaints. It works well and reliably, and setup was very easy*. It has the standard amount of Ethernet ports, reboots fairly quickly, and works well with Mediacom's 1gb internet package. It's a well-made, powerful router. You get what you pay for, and you pay a lot for this.
It's also enormous compared to my old router and has no particularly stable way to sit other than upright as the pictures show, but that's my fault for not looking at the size specifications.
*The instructions for setup were 'download our app'. That's it. No manual setup process provided in the least. And while the app did make it extremely easy, it also wants to be invasively active on my phone all the time, and added an inescapable 30 day limited trial of online protection that I don't want and can't remove until 30 days are up. I needed to go back and remove all of the permissions that the app required post-installation. And, of course, everything required an account. Feels very smart home oriented, for the folks that need to be able to check that their internet is working just fine whilst on vacation miles away.
I might be an old man shouting at clouds here, but this all feels real gross on all counts, folks. At the very least, I hope it means I wont have to buy another for quite some time.

Well i had a tp-link router and i was not to happy with it’s performance and decided to try another router and went to Best Buy and seen a router called NETGEAR i was hesitant to purchase it because I had a bad experience with the TP link router, but I decided to give it a try. It is set up with easy and once I got it going and connected my products to it the armor plus security feature has on it was very impressive it automatically get a scan on all my devices connected to the router and block that all malware and spyware and I didn’t even know were infecting my devices. I was very impressed.

I would have given it 5 stars but for the set up and a few other blips.
The set up with the nighthawk app is not good.
Maybe they have fixed it?
But probably just do a manual set up.
If you are willing to set up a network you know enough to make this chore simple.
Problem is that on the initial set up the username and password Fields are greyed out.
If you click on the username field it stays greyed out.
If you click on the password word field to the direct right of the username field it will let you change the password word but it is unintuitive to click the password field after seeing the username field is unaccessible due to being greyed out...
After the password is set the rest is super simple if you have ever set up a router before and still super simple and easy to figure out if have are new to the experience.
Nighthawk app is spam and just a annoying life lock like business strategy as far as I can see.
Also for the duration of the free trial of Netgear armour I had an issue with losing internet for like 30 seconds during a point in the nine o'clock hours.
Both am and pm.
It was odd.
I suspect it was Netgear armor connecting to a server and sharing it's findings...
After the trial expired the internet loss seemed to go away.
But I did change a minor setting in the router around that time as well so it could have been that?
Probably the the netgear armour thing though...
Good router though.
Handles streaming games to twitch at 1080p just fine.
Also handles multiple high resolution devices all at the same time just fine.
I would recommend.
Just don't use Netgear armour and don't use nighthawk app.
I give them negative 5 stars...
The hardware is solid so far.

Bought this to replace an RAX80 that has worked just fine for years.
Setup was very easy since it's used in conjunction with my Frontier Cable Modem. Setting up and configuring WiFi was also very easy for both my private Networks and Guest Networks.
However, several other important features never worked right on this one or even on a 2nd replacement of the same model. \\Readyshare never worked right and could never access my 2 large USB external drives.
DHCP device and IP address reservations has never worked right either. Devices configured to retain their IP address (by MAC address too) never retain the assigned IP address.
Several other issues with this model - RS200 - resulted in hours on the phone with Netgear Support, nearly every single day after purchase. Netgear Support finally advised me to buy another one of the same model, which I did, but it has the same issues. Netgear has not been abe to identify the cause of these issues, so they remain unresolved. The Netgear Support Tech I worked with told e that he believes they are defective. Not happy at all.

Nice looking unit and built very well. Have used about 6 weeks now and has ran perfect so far. Only Con I have is the Tiny LED lights and Letters on front that show the status of everything. Was displeased with those. The letters need to be larger and easier to see and the lights should be larger and brighter to easily see at a glance if there are an issue.
