Customers regard the Nighthawk EAX80 AX6000 WiFi extender as having excellent range and ease of use, with many praising its simple setup and ability to extend WiFi 6 networks. However, some users experienced connection issues and inconsistent performance, leading to negative feedback. The accompanying app also received criticism for its functionality. While many found the extender improved their WiFi coverage, concerns were raised about the value for the price.

I own an ex8000 as well as buying this one. I can only get 20mb down on a 400mb connection with this one. In the area I use this, I don't have other wifi stomping on this. My other wifi extender will give me full speed over 400mb. I can only get full speed if I connect via Ethernet to this one.
I also checked the bandwidth of this devices signal. I only checked 5g since that's what I was extending. The bandwidth is much smaller with this unit vs the other one and my router. I'll include a picture showing the default names. You can see the slim tooth pick vs the fat signal of my router. The other extender looks similar to the router. If you want an extender, go for the ex8000 not this one.
Seems like a real loss for netgear.

Ive had this from about 8 months now, its easy to set up and just works, I wanted to extend and have constant 5ghz around the house and property, around 7500 SQFT total and its worked great in combination with the nighthawk router.
I Never have to log on and change settings or reset anything. Its been great, its just there and works

I recently purchased the Netgear WiFi extender, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The range is truly impressive, covering every corner of my home with strong, reliable WiFi. Setting it up was a breeze, and the performance has been rock-solid since day one.
Before getting this extender, I struggled with weak signals and dead zones, but now I have seamless connectivity everywhere. It's definitely worth the money I paid, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to boost their WiFi coverage. This is a must-have device for any home!

I had to contact Netgear twice to get this connected. The first time I kept receiving an error message. After 1.5 hours on the phone, the extender finally connected. Over the next few days, our phones kept saying not connected and we had to keep reconnecting. I contacted Netgear again this time on the line for an hour. They were finally able to resolve the issue and everything seems to be working great now. I would have gave 5 stars if I would not have add to contact Netgear twice.

Works great with my Netgear Night Hawk. It is located about 40 feet on the opposite side of the house. Signal is strong and connection is seamless. Speed is the same as the router! I Used to have connectivity issues and now my upstairs and downstairs receive great signal. Even outside areas! It fully covers the perimeter of the property with no problem. Great purchase!

Looking at some of the other reviews on this extender, I was initially apprehensive about purchasing it. However, I figured it had to be better than my current nighthawk Ex7500 x4s wall plug extender, which had to be constantly reset due to random wifi disconnects. Once I setup this EX80 using netgear's nighthawk app, the firmware was updated, and initially the 5Ghz side of the mesh system had a very weak RSSI broadcast. I verified that my RAX120 was transmitting a strong 5Ghz broadcast and the RSSI near the EX80 location was no less than -60dbm. I then switched the entire setup to smart connect via the nighthawk app, and within an hour or so the EX80 began to broadcast correctly on the 5Ghz. My speeds for my furthest device supported by the EX80 is an average of 230Mbps, where I was originally getting about 100-120Mbps.
My max speed from my service provider at the modem is 330Mbps, and it's on the other side of my home with several walls in between. Which is why I needed this extender, purchased it in early May. To date it has worked flawlessly and I have not had to reset it once. The only downside is this thing is pretty big for an extender. If you decide purchase this device, do yourself a favor and use the nighthawk app to set it up.

Better than Mesh wifi

Oh man, I have been so frustrated with AT&T routers not giving me good speeds. Used to get 25 mbps on a 1 gbps fiber connection but after I installed this mesh extender, I am getting 600+ over wifi across the house. It's a game changer for me. Love this device. The app is not the best when you have this device connected to a non netgear router but the device itself is kickass. If you want to exterd you wifi range I think this is better than the mesh wifi. I tried all the Mesh wifi brands including the 1500 netgear Orbi but could only get 300 mbps but with this externder 600 mbps over wifi and 900 mbps over ethernet.

Very easy to hookup and connect. Can also work as an access point instead.
I originally bought this for my gaming router, but instead went with a full mesh system from netgear. Still have yet to hook this up to it.
All in all, did a really good job for what i needed it for.

I purchased this extender to pair with my Netgear Tri-band Wifi 6 router. The setup and pairing were easy to do using the Netgear phone App. I have the latest Galaxy Note with Wifi 6 capability. Prior to this upgrade I was using Orbi (not the Wifi 6) and was getting about 300 Mbps download speed. With the upgrade to Wifi 6 on the phone I am getting approximately 700 Mpbs download speed. I have Comcast 1000 Mpbs download package. I have the system setup as a Mesh. This extender and the Tri-band router support the 160 MHz channel of Wifi 6. I do not believe the new Orbi Wifi 6 supports this channel.

Netgear wifi extenders are powerful and easy to install. The great advantage of this product is that the wifi doesnt create an extended network that actually interferes with the signal but simply extends the existing one. This model also provides 4 ethernet ports for other devices!

No problems updating firmwarel.
I wanted an extender that would help cover the entire house and was easy to setup. It was very easy to setup - had no issues using the iPhone app. Our router is upstairs of a 2800 sqft house so put the Nighthawk downstairs & appear to have eliminated all dead spots.

We’ve tried numerous extenders in the past (including other Nighthawks), this is the only one that has actually worked great. Our wifi router is in the basement and we have Ring stick-up cameras outside on our porch and garage on the main level. Never had an extender that could pull consistent wifi to these cameras … until we tried this Nighthawk EAX80 AX6000. This extender is great!

Had a dead spot in my wireless signal that I tried many other devices to fix. This one did the job and now my signal is consistent throughout. Very easy setup via my smartphone and their app. No issues during the first couple weeks of use. Works as advertised with my Nighthawk gaming router.

Paired nicely with my NETGEAR RAX120 router using the nighthawk app. Significantly faster than my previous Orbi AC3000 network. Purchased 2 of these for my entire house....one is a wireless extender for my entertainment center (cable, tv, Xbox, etc) and other is a hardwired/attached to my LAN network (AP Mode) for I was unable to get them to work very well in while both in wireless mode.

I bought this WiFi extender to expand my security system and add new technologies to my old home my walls aren’t that thick but between the cinder block basement walls and the old sheet rock walls on the first floor my WiFi signal was extremely poor at best. So I picked up this high dollar Netgear Nighthawk extender from Best Buy to combat my lack of decent WiFi range outside of my house and it is performing ok my electronic garage attendant is working properly because of it but the WiFi range could be a little better for the price I’m just hoping when I add wireless cameras the signal will be consistently reliable we will see but for now i guess it was a good buy.
