Review of the Netgear R8000 x6. Own the R7000 series and was looking for an upgrade due to r7000 dropping wi-fi channels after around 3years, a reported issue with that model. R8000 setup was very easy. Router login and device isp setup simple as most Netgear interface. Range is very good. 2.4 and 5Ghz signal strong, secure and acceptable. No issues gaming, streaming and definitely made for multiple devices and streaming. Tested on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Smart TV streaming Wireless and Wired tested. Had 0 packet loss on both tests. Speed very acceptable. Recommend this Router. Only a 4 Star due to price.

The Nighthawk R8000 is an over priced WiFi router, at $300+ you can buy mulitple routers and bridge them together. However, if you want to save yourself from having to purchase mutliplte routers and connect everything yourself purchasing this router is an excellent choice. First of all, i have muitiple WiFi devices( from Apple products, smart tvs, WiFi cameras, and my garage door opener). This rourter has no problem connecting all my decives to the internet, ensuring i get maxium speed and efficiency. Nevertheless, this WiFi router comes with Netgear 24/7 customer service at no additional cost, if you ever run into any trouble the Netgear team is ready to help.

    Best wireless router

It is bit on expensive side (and bit large) but it is worth every penny. Our house layout is odd and only available spot for placement of our Internet set up is on one corner of 2nd floor. Our previous linksys router that was $150 couldn't cover the basement and we had constant connection drops on our 10+ Internet connected devices all over the house. I ended up setting up a new network just for the 1st floor with separate wireless router but that did not remedy the problem. I ended up pulling the trigger and bought the nighthawk. Ever since we replaced the linksys with the nighthawk, speeds increased, dropped connections stopped happening and we now have no need for the separate network on the 1st floor. What's amazing is, nighthawk signal can reach everywhere in the house including the basement! And no more complaints of buffering and dropped connection from family members! It's a great wireless router that will save you the frustration of slow speeds and connection drops.

In todays age of netflix, smart tvs, facebook, youtube, and online gaming you need a router that can keep up. I love this router. I recently switched to cable at 100mbs/sec and the junk router they gave me barely handled half that speed. My family only streams content. We rely heavily on our internet and multiple people/ devices are on at one time the x6 dosent skip a beat. It also has amazing range covering the entire house with no extenders. Plus it looks like a cross between the batmobile and a spaceship. Lol

I am tech savy but even if I were not this set up like a dream! Absolutely no hang ups and I have not lost or dropped signal anywhere in my house which is a 2400 sq ft ranch so it is stretched out. Currently managing 4 phones, 6 tablets, 3 laptops, 3 tvs, xbox1 and a ps4 with no issues. It is big and obtrusive, some of the connections are in places that make little sense. The directional antennas seem cheap and easily broken if not kept in a safe spot. The only issue I have with this and most of the rest is the lack of a cable input. Why don't they make a router compatible with cable??? That being said if you buy this router you still need the old cable modem to send signal to the router.

I’m so happy with this router. I have about 20 devices in my home that connected to the internet. My old ATT router can’t handle all these devices. There is no problem with this new router. It also gives me a stronger signal and longer range.

Router was easy to set up. Completely covers the 1600 square feet house. I was able to increase my speed from 400mps to a gigabyte ps. The router also helped me realize that there was nothing wrong with the printer. New router, printer fixed.

Setup was not as easy as anticipated. I'm a TWC subscriber with my own modem. I thought simply switching outs routers and changing a few passwords. Since I had already disconnected the previous netgear router I wasn't prepared for the questions asked so I started over several times. The 2ghz runs slow @ times and I may still have to tweek a little more. I set up smart connect so it would connect to the best GHz (2G or 5G) for my devices. Also had to channels as a neighbor also has Netgear. Still pleased with the results as I am a diy person.

    Best router I've ever owned

This is by far the best router I've ever owned. I'm getting the the max speed on speedtest.net which is 100mbps download speed wirelessly in a large home with 3 levels. I am very experienced with complicated setups and networking, but this router could have been setup with a laptop or tablet without being hard wired during initial setup by a chimp in a few minutes. It was the easiest and best setup software I have ever used. Usually I don't use the setup software and just do it manually, but this software was amazing and I enjoyed using it. All of my past routers get slow and deteriorate after time, like every 3 to 4 years. I've seen it happen over the past 14 years with various routers and also read a lot about it online. Every router slows and deteriorates after time. The internal heat and the fact that they are on 24/7 is the cause. I hope it doesn't happen to this one, but it probably will just like every other one I've had. When your wireless router is 3 or more years old and you need to reset or reboot it every day or so, it's time to replace it. For this price, I hope this router last me at least 5 years this time. I love everything about this router. I found 0 negatives. It also looks really cool!!!

Great to connect multiple WiFi devices at once

This is a great product to use to extend the WiFi signals in your medium sized to very large sized houses. Read accompanying resources before attempting to setup. I had some problem initially when setting it up via the given web site link / address. Excellent WiFi output for multiple devices at once. It is a bit on the expensive side, but with several newer models coming out from Netgear and its competitors, I think that the price should drop below $200 by the end of the year (2017). For the short time that I used it, I was able able to receive strong signals at the back of the house to play movies from online sources as well as from the cloud. I returned it because I was moving into a smaller space and the modem / WiFi router from the cable company was adequate for my current needs. Shop around or wait until it is on sale as it will sure put a dent in your wallet. The price has gone down tremendously and now hovers between $215.00 and $260 on average at several locations.

This router is great! My house is roughly 1900 square feet and has thick walls. This router gives me a great connect up to 70 feet from the router which is in the back of the house in my office. I LOVE the multiple network connections and the separate guest network. The Netgear app is a little clunky but gets the job done. I would highly recommend this router to my friends and family.

I live in an apartment that's pretty long. From my living room to the bedrooms it's about 60 feet and before I had an outdated router. I was skeptical at 1st because of the price but then I thought I'm paying for what I get. My last router was about 120.00 and the connection never reached the rooms. Now I have coverage everywhere with faster speeds. Set up was a breeze and can control everything through the app available on IOS and Android which I have. It's a bit big but its improved connection are something that can't be taken lightly.

I am a novice when it comes to computers - it took 10 min to install and it has been great. Superfast and I would recommend it to anyone. It was a little pricey but if lasts half as long as my old router - it was well worth it.
