I know nothing about extenders, but the people at best buy recommended this unit. It was easy to install and the range is great. I do find that it drops the signal sometimes, but that could be a problem with my internet.

I have this paired with a DIR-826L. Set up couldn't be easier. WPS makes it a snap. I live in a relatively small house and the connection is sometimes dropped even though the wireless router and this are only separated by a two rooms.
Overall, very satisfied. The dropping is very rare and it's never happened while using it, only noticed a red light as I walked by.
I use it to connect my Xbox, Bluray player, and satellite receiver box.

We bought this to boost our wi-fi signal to our front door, so we could use a Ring video doorbell. The extender was easy to use with our router (which has WPS). I compared it against a slightly cheaper TrendNet wall-wart style range extender, and the Netgear unit provided a stronger, more reliable connection.

This not only allowed me to extend where I could use WiFi, but it through puts the signal at the same speed. It also allows you to use an Ethernet served device with 4 LAN ports. This was a bargain.

I bought this extender because I now have a finished basement in a 4000sqft home where I moved my PS3. My main internet connections is upstairs, and so I bought this "booster" to decrease "lag" with online game play downstairs. It helped a great deal, probably 90% or so, and that is why I would have to give this an overall of 4 stars. Other than that, the ease of hook up and size were great.

My main router did not reach to the far side of my house. I needed to boost the signal to my bedroom. Placed this in the center of my home and works beautiful! The signal on this router is actually stronger than the main router. Made all the difference.

Super easy to set up if you have a Netgear router.

My modem comes in through my basement so my router doesn't reach the upstairs so I bought this range extender. The setup process works nicely. Just press two buttons, one on the router and one on the extender and done. The extender even changed its name to how I had set it on the router. Since this is a dual band you will get two additional signal choices when you search for wifi. Unless by some miracle you are in an area that offers gigabit connections you will just want to use the slower speed. I bought this to stay ahead of the technology curve. The cheaper single band extender will work just as well, you just won't have the bigger bandwidth option if a day ever comes that you get faster internet.

Internet was spotty at best as my router was not talking with my computer. I was not treated well by my internet supplier. They were of no help in supplying a solution to my problem. However, this Netgear range extender fixed it. The Best Buy staff was great to work with and provided a good solution.

Since I installed the range finder I have been able to access the internet from one end of the house to the other. Prior to installation, this was not the case. It works just as it should.

My wifi was not reaching our living room adequately. I did some research & selected the Netgear range extender. It is working great. It also has 4 ports. This enabled me to plug into my smart tv. I don't need a blue tooth or something similar to watch Netflix etc. This is a great bonus!

Great product. Netgear is always a top choice! We needed the signal to go through 2 outer walls to extend to the other end of our home and this did the job perfectly.

Very quick and easy to use and set up. Had to reboot once and set up again but has worked fine since. One drawback is it has another wifi name but not that big of a deal.

Had trouble connecting to the wifi in my bedroom because the router was located in the living room. With this extender I am able to do so. Just make sure wherever you setup the extender that it is in a location that catches a strong signal from your original router.

Purchased this product to expand our WiFi coverage in a 2 family home. The setup was simple and ready to go in under 10 minutes. Our coverage has increased dramatically and there hasn't been any interruptions in service. Great product for a wonderfully low price!

The NETGEAR Dual Band Range-Extender is stronger and more reliable than its cheaper NETGEAR counterparts, however there are still difficulties with the unit slowing down and disconnecting entirely when more than 2-3 devices are connected and attempting to use the extended network at the same time. This is a great product to put off buying a new and more powerful router but eventually the headache you'll face with the extender will have you buying that more powerful router sooner rather than later.
