Customers frequently mention the Rear Facing Telephoto View Camera's easy setup process and superb video quality. They appreciate that it records the same information visible in their rearview mirrors. The plug-and-play feature is also well-received for its simplicity.

Seamless Intergration With My Nextbase Dash Cam

I got this camera to use with my Nextbase 322 GW Dash Cam. I chose this model because I wanted to have rear video coverage, but did not want to install a stand alone unit in the rear of my car.
Installation was as simple as snapping it into the port of the dash cam. I had to reboot the camera for it to recognize, but once restarted I was immediately up and running.
After installation the touch screen layout changed to include an option to toggle to the rear view and back. I have attached photos to show what it now looks like.
When joined both the front and rear cameras are limited to 1080P 30FPS. I did not find this to be a problem because the video quality is sharp and clear. Vehicles, people and even license plates are easily captured. The rear facing camera captures video that is similar in perspective to what is seen when looking into the rear view mirror. It uses a telephoto lens with a 30 degree field of view that leaves some gaps in the side.
After I connected both cameras I received a message that the SD Card I was using was not a U3 card and could not be used. It now requires a SD Card that is UHS Speed 3 and SD Speed 10. I am using it with a 128 GB SD Card and am getting 8 hours of front and 8 hours (16 hours total) of rear recording time. So remember that since there are two cameras and it only takes one SD Card, the normal recording time is half since the cameras are sharing the SD Card.
This companion unit to the Nextbase Dash Cam suits my needs perfectly. Even though the rear recorded image is not as complete as a stand alone camera because of the side gaps, the convenience and simplicity is more than worth the trade off.

Great addition to a great dashcam. Added it to my 622gw, and works as expected. No fussing, just attached it and aimed it and it works. Very small footprint (see pics)

I recently purchased a Nextbase 322GW dash camera, and a large part of the reason I chose it was due to the availability of this rear-view camera module. No other dashcam (that I am aware of) offers this type of option and I wanted to be able to monitor traffic behind me as well as in front.
The problem is that I drive a convertible, and most dashcams with a rear camera attach to the back window - obviously not an option when you have a convertible. There are some dashcams that offer a rear camera that can mount outside (like off the license plate bracket) but those require a lot more tricky wiring through the trunk, etc. This Nextbase solution is so much easier!
Pros:
Simple to install.
Worked right away. Some users report having to restart the dashcam to recognize the camera, but that's not a big deal.
Good picture. The lens is telephoto, so it does not capture the driver or passenger - it aims directly out the rear window.
The lens itself is on a swivel - You can make fine adjustments to the angle of view without repositioning the camera.
Cons:
Makes the dashcam physically larger. It's not huge, but you will have to fiddle with the location to make sure the front camera has a good view, the rear camera has a good view, and the camera itself does not block your forward view or mirror. If you think you might add a camera module to your Nextbase, do not install the adhesive mount until you test it with the module! Otherwise you might end up having to unstick it and move it.
Rear camera resolution is not identical to the front camera resolution - With my 322GW, I get 1080p from the front camera but only 720p from the rear. With the more expensive Nextbase dashcams, you can get 1080p from the rear camera but I assume it's limited by the write speed to the microSD card.
Expensive - Although I really like this rear-view camera, it seems pretty pricey for what it is. I feel like a better price point would be no more than $50. In fact I've read that in Europe it sells for closer to that price.
Nether Pro nor Con:
Compatibility: The rear camera modules do not work with every single Nexbase dashcam. Basically the 322GW is the least-expensive model they work with.
In short - I'm very pleased with this rear-view camera. It does exactly what I wanted it to do and works well. My biggest knock is the price, but I'm not aware of any similar product out there that gives you a rear view without the installation issues.

Great accessory for my NextBase 322GW Dash Camera, no wiring required simply plugs into the side of the camera and allows me to film front and rear while driving.

So this thing zooms to focus out the back window clearly. Cool touch is that the lens is adjustable within the module housing. Allows the ability to aim the front facing cam where you want then point the lens of the rear facing cam module accordingly. Picture quality is great.

Easy plug, and play operation, that provides the same view as a rearview mirror would. Before installing this, you MUST have a compatible memory card. The only card we found that would work with this in the camera, was the Nextbase brand cards.

Good quality video, but some irksome things: it sometimes interferes with the software in the main camera, leading the main camera to freak out and stop recording and sometimes also start beeping, requiring a power cycle before calming down and resuming normal functioning. Also wish I could toggle between telephoto (to see through the rear window) and wide-angle (to capture vehicle interior). Unfortunately you have to pick one or the other, can't even buy both since there's only one HDMI slot in the 522 I have it plugged into.

Great video quality but no option to zoom in or out. Note: you can’t record at 1440p if you add this on but you can still do 1080p 60fps front view and 1080p 30fps for the rear facing cam. Very simple, just plug and play.

This little add-on unit plugs into the side of the dash cam for seeing the rear of the vehicle, as well as the front. If you're serious about seeing everything around you, then this unit is a must, you really shouldn't have one without the other.

Added this unit a year after purchasing the base. The app is horrible but I do love the fact that I can just download what I need from the SD card or patiently waiting for the app. Crystal clear will record cars from behind and can capture back seat action if need. But not much. Will be purchasing another one when my kid turns 16 and start driving.

This works great as a simple to add rearview camera without doing additional wiring. The field of view is a little distant looking through the back rear windshield, but the picture is very clear.

Good Rear View Solution

We have Nextbase dashcams in both my wife's car and my car. I wanted to add a rearview camera, but was balking at running wiring under the headliner to a camera mounted on the rear window. Having a camera mounted on the rear window also seemed like one more thing to distract me while driving. I was a bit skeptical of a plug in telephoto rear camera, but it's worked well in my car. My wife's car(small hatchback) has the small, constrained vision rear window that's become stylish in these cars and it does limit the field of view for the rear camera - something to consider.
One thing to note, although the rear view shows up in a corner of the on-screen display, the front and rear recordings are separate.

I thought I was buying the wider lens one. This has a great telephoto lens and it was a pretty good picture. When I turned the camera on it was right at my face. I may do much better in a larger vehicle.
